If you want to blame someone for the high prices of gas, blame the politician that allows, since 1996, speculators to put up only 5 - 7% of their own money to buy oil futures while doing the same with stocks will cost you 50% of your own money up front. Stop the speculators and you will stop the high prices paid for gas.
To further drive the down the prices, we need to start pumping more oil out of our own reserves and that too will show the world that we don't need foreign oil. Contact your representatives to get this ball going. If not, don't complain when someone rips you off.

the reserves would supply us with oil for about two months they way we burn through it.

The higher taces will come from the Iraq war which according to Bush's neocons was suppose to pay for itself.
I don't hate Bush, but he'll go down in history as the worst President ever and it's clueless people like consumer who voted for him.

It was less than 6 years ago when I could buy gas for $0.99 per gallon; the fact that it's over $4.00 per gallon is more than just simple inflation. It could be construed as Racketeering/Profiteering (which last I checked was against the laws of the USA) but at the very least is GREED and GOUGING of consumers by the OIL COMPANIES.
For my humble opinion, I think all should consider the following: I do not condone theft or violating the law. I had originally thought that it was high time for the people of the USA to have another "Tea party", but then thought about the environmental issue that would pose. I'm not a tree hugger, but I am sure that we can all agree it would not do any good to dump oil in the ocean.
Then I thought, "What would happen if EVERY man and woman in the USA, who makes less than $50k a year, stayed home for just 2 days? By "staying home" , I mean this: No going to work, No shopping (also no shopping online), no going to restaurants or movie theaters, no going anywhere for 2 whole days" ... This country and it's economy would grind to a screeching halt. Imagine what the CEO's and VP's would do when they found that their precious corporations were not making money. If they wanted it done they'd have to do it themselves! They wouldn't be able to fire anyone because they'd still have NO employees! Maybe then Corporate America, Congress, and the White House would call up their CEO buddies at the oil companies and put some PRESSURE on them to do something about the price of gas.
Either that, or as an ultimatum to the Big Businesses and Oil Company fat cats, Congress can raise the "Minimum Wage " to $ 25.00 per hour, which would put Minimum wage on the same rising track as gas prices. When companies have to pay a janitor a minimum of $25.00 per hour for working, you can bet that the CEO???s won???t be smiling.

Yea, I can see us heading toward anarchy and third world conditions...Oil men in the White House, who are looking out for themselves, their families, and their buds...the top 1%, has regular people, the hardworking middle classed, uneducated people...LOL...stealing gas to be able to get to work and shopping trips to Walmart...Too funny. Let McCon get in, and it will be worse. Can't imagine what will happen when gas goes to $6 a gallon. Idiot McCon gets in, and that is just what will happen. I would hate to run a station soon...it is going to be armed robberies for gas. Pathetic...

While it is true that most oil companies are making huge profits from their customers Guardian Oil Company has a different approach. We have developed an all natural oil product that increased fuel mileage and engine performance. Typically in the average automotive applications we have seen an average of 10 to 17.5% increase in fuel mileage....In Heavy trucks 5 to 10%....Even when compaired to Synthetics. We are currently looking for funding to start production on a regional level. If we are funded, we will set a new standard in motor and other oils that the general public may benefit from. ( Our retail cost is about the same as most synthetics)

Guardian Oil Company is also looking to developed a Hydrogen Fuel Injection system that is affordable to the average working family where the most benefit will be seen.... Between our Guardian Oil products and our newly designed Hydrogen Injection systems it is projected to increase fuel mileage up to 25% in most applications.

Thanks for making a difference Steve! But, for the record, nothings wrong with making a profit... Even if everyone complains... If they were the shareholders they would be singing a different song!

      Keep up the good work!

Exxon makes a $43 billion dollar profit and we arent being ripped off! I have 2 parked SUV's in my driveway, I went out last week and bought a Honda Fit, excellent gas mileage so instead of paying $8 a day to go to work in my gas guzzling suv's; I pay $2.00. And get this, I was at the gas station the other day and this couple stood at the pump griping about it costing $120 to fill their tank. I told them to buy a more fuel efficient car. The woman had the audacity to tell me there is no way she would drive a cheaper more fuel efficient car because she didnt want anyone thinking less of her. So is our country selfish and arrogant and stuck up. DUH! I told her that I had 2 expensive SUV's sitting in my driveway so if she didnt want to find a solution, then shut up and deal with it. As for stealing gas those people are pathetic, get another job if you have a family to feed. My grandparents worked multiple jobs to support their families as did my parents.

I was in the car business(sales) for 7 years and saw the demise of the minivan(a much more practical vehicle than most SUVs) but the minivan died and the suv became King of the Road primarily because women wouldn't be caught dead in a minivan and wanted the biggest, most luxurious SUV they could get financed to impress their neighbors and feel like the queen of the road. I've actually heard them say "No one is gonna run over me on the road now!"

Gas prices have gotten RIDICUOUSLY out of hand!!!!!!! It amazes me that the government says they can't do anything about it...yet, they control everything else. How can you say there is nothing you can do when these companies are making RECORD profits in the millions EVERY quarter! I see they don't mind robbing the low man on the toading pole, while allowing their friends and supports to continue robbing us!!!!!!!!!!!! When is enough enough...I am sure people are at the point of deciding whether their family should eat, or what they can eat, and whether or not they should spend the money so they can get back and forth to work!

Stealing gas from the gas station is like stealing gas from the 7-11 store. The owners of those gas stations makes pennies per gallon. They are not the ones who make millions. They are not the ones who raise the gas price. My friend leases a Shell station and he barely makes enough money to support a wife and 5 kidsand he works 14 hours a day. The truth is the gas price hike is the work of the speculators. Here is what was posted on www.dispatchpolitics.com: "Gasoline should cost about $2.25 a gallon at the pump, and everything above that is "funny money" largely tacked on by speculation and manipulation in the energy markets, a consumer advocate told a Senate committee yesterday.

"The speculative bubble in energy commodities has cost households, on average, about $1,500 over the past two years in increased costs for gasoline and natural gas," testified Mark Cooper, director of research for the Consumer Federation of America. The cost to the U.S. economy has been more than a half-trillion dollars, he said.

As retail gas prices reached a record high for the 26th time in 27 days, Cooper was among several experts who told the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation that speculators are helping push up prices........
So stop justifying stealing and stop blaming Bush. Ride a bike or move to another country. The last time I checked, the price of gas was close to 10 US dollars a gallon in England and France.

  • Posted By: EchoStill @ 06/12/2008 10:03:26 PM

EVERYONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT IT???? ITS A PROVEN FACT THAT IF ONE DAY OF THE YEAR EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN DIDNTBUY GAS, THE GAS PRICES WOULD BE DRIVEN WAY DOWN, RADIO STATIONS HAVE HAD A "NO BUY GAS DAY" BUT ALL AMERICANS COULDNT GET ON THE SAME DAMN PAGE AND JUST DO IT.

  • Posted By: rockie1102@msn.com @ 06/12/2008 10:01:50 PM

People what you need to do is stop stealing from the people who work to put gas in their car or trucks. Fight to put at hold on the price so it stops going up. Use the bus buy a bike or motorcycle do what you need to get to work, take time off and apply for food stamps to help. I heard that from the radio station people don't reliaze that they can ge some help until it is to late. There are people out there to help you in this time of tighten the belt. You don't have to be black, mexican, korean, etc. White people can ask for help and hopefully get it now. I was turn down for social s disabitiy beacsue my husband makes to much money Yea right. I'm handcap 90% and work just to make ends meet. I found an job that let's me work but at my own speed and have been here for 10 years almost. thank GOd for my Boss.

Again I see some idiots blaming Bush for the cost of oil and gas. No one seems to take note of the fact that it is the liberal Democrates and environmentalists that locked up the Artic Preserves, the off shore oil fields, the Rocky Mountain Front, trying to prevent the use of oil sand oil from Canada, and block the building of new refineries and nucular power plants that have put the USA in the position of having to buy the foreign oil. Unless the people of this country get their heads out of their as**s and understand these facts and do something about the real enemies of this country nothing is going to change except for the worse. Remember that on election day and look at the facts and not the emotion and hype that the charismatic politicians are spouting.

    • Posted By: ferroussphinx @ 06/12/2008 9:59:37 PM

your a *** lunatic the preserves are so that we dont kill off other precious life and the same with no sand oul i cant stand you *** republicans you need to die

  • Posted By: arcanum202 @ 06/12/2008 9:56:43 PM

Didn't a Republican say, "Outsourcing is good for America?" How short our memories are...

  • Posted By: nodemfan @ 06/12/2008 9:43:51 PM

Hey all you educated idiots that are blaming Bush for the oil crisis. The only real person that has had anything to do with it was none other then the first "Black" president. None other then Bill "Buckweat "Clinton. He's the one that vetoed a bill that would of allowed drilling in Anwar. This is costing the US over a million barrells of gas a day. Its a fact look it up. Think things are going to get any better, just wait and see what happens if "Osama" Obama gets elected we are all screwed then, wait and see. Go ahead Liberal A####### ruin the U.S. trying to tell us stuff thats not true oh yeah, 911 never ever happend either.

ferroussphinx...you are a message board troll. Your ignorant posts calling other's morons is clearly nothing more than your pathetic attempt to get a poorly contrived point across. Better still, you seem like you have a second grade education with your lack of punctuation and poor sentence structure. Ever hear of proper grammar? Here's a hint: You'll sound a bit more intelligent by using proper punctuation.
