Some commentators say the reason for the rise in gas prises is due to supply and demand....increase in demand.. Is there an increase in demand every day? The prices go up on a daily basis. Something seems wrong here.

The icrease in demand is from the two countrues of Inda and China........ they do not know what a condom is....

If this is all former President Clintons fault then why hasn't President Bush remedied this --- he's had almost EIGHT LOOOONG YEARS to do so. GET A CLUE!!

If you really need someone to blame. Blame India and China. They subsidize the price of gas so its more affordable for their people. You know what the rich in China are driving now? Our traded in SUV's. they have no reason to conserve as gas for them is $.50 - 1.00 a gallon. We sent most of the manufacturing jobs over there in the 90's and it made them get some money in their pockets. Now they want a similiar lifesytle to what we have. If the unions weren't so greedy, alot of those jobs would have stayed here and this may not have even been an issue. I know, you gonna disagree with my union statement, but its true. How can we compete globally when unions want to pay every lazy *** they have the same pay. Japanese have it right. You work hard, you get more money, not if you've worked here 20 years you get to not work and make excuses to not get fired or can't be fired, go to the doctor for a doctors note when you aren't sick and expect the employer to foot the bill. Wake up. Unions were good in their day. Now all they do is drive good jobs to 3rd world countries. i know this because I worked in a union. UAW. All crooks and thieves. Merit based pay and right to work are the future.

I agree with this! Being from Detroit I know all about the lazy worker that gets paid for sitting on his A**! No wonder GM and Ford are on the verge of Bankruptcy!

We are in the mess today because of liberal special intress groups EPA and unions. lets not forget this Democrate Congress that was eleted in 2006 said they would fix it .( LIED.)to all you fools that voted these jerks into office I say you get what you vote to elect and now live with it you morons.Just watch and see what this O-Bama guy takes from you if he is elected president Higher Taxs and more of this BS.

If these money hungry big wigs don't do something, things will get progressively worsr with more and more people getting seriously hurt. They will only raise the price as far as we, the general public allow them too. Just keep that in mind. This all comes from greed from the top. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

    • Posted By: ferroussphinx @ 06/12/2008 9:47:06 PM

Two words.... RECORD PROFITS..... and demand is DOWN????... please explain

    • Posted By: Oldtickertape @ 06/12/2008 9:44:57 PM

Record Profits = Profits that have hit new highs... Highs that have never been hit before.

Demand is Down = Demand is low, or less then prior years... Below average.

demand is not down.. it keeps rising along with the prices.

  • Posted By: scooter rider @ 06/12/2008 9:43:43 PM

i totally agree with fnmundman and i've been saying this if people would stop traveling, for vactions, stop filling up those boats , stops driving the trucks, suvs, and other big cars except for work something would get done but as long as people keep doing all these and think oh well its not going to get a better then they're right because exxon, moble and the others now see that they can keep raising the prices to the stations and we agree to keep paying and doing our thing so come on people smarten up , we can make a big difference in those peoples pockets if we would just smarten up, it doens't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Whoever is blaming Bush for this also needs a reality check. You are probably the same people that blame video games and rap music for your stupid children...try being parents. People need to realize that every problem you have can be solved only by you. Complaining gets you nowhere. Action gets you somewhere however. If this goes on long enough America will go to war with itself

    • Posted By: MS2008 @ 06/12/2008 9:13:36 PM

      Do you even have children?

      • Posted By: thedude337 @ 06/12/2008 9:41:34 PM

Some things are out of our own control. Even you cant remedy every problem you face as much as you cant admit it its true. Besides with a name like smokified you probably dont have any real responsibility so that comment would be easy for you. What are you 12

  • Posted By: raazorblade4 @ 06/12/2008 8:53:59 PM

I see some morons are blaming Bush for the high gas prices. Did they stop to think it is the liberal Democrate and environmental idiots that locked up the Artic preserve, the off shore oil fields, the Rocky Mountain Front in Montana, and are trying to prevent the use of Oil Sand oil from Canada and block the building of new refineries and nucular power plants. The stupid liberals and environmentalist are the ones who have caused the USA to depend on foreign oil that has put us in this position but no one seems to even consider these facts. And until the people in this country get their heads out of their as**s and understand this and change the way we think it is only going to get worse...

    • Posted By: MS2008 @ 06/12/2008 8:58:40 PM

Name calling is so 3rd grade! Grow up, oh sure everyone always blames the liberals. Guess what Bush is the President RIGHT NOW...there is NO SHORTAGE OF OIL! There is no reason the prices SHOULD BE SO HIGH! Isn't it interesting that President Bush is a multbillionaire by (gasps) Oil? Wow...

      • Posted By: Oldtickertape @ 06/12/2008 9:41:31 PM

LOL!!! Bush is a multibullionaire! LOL Are you Kidding me? Do you actually believe that? LOL

    • Posted By: Non-following sheep @ 06/12/2008 9:04:03 PM

Hmmmm... lets see.... Bush is earlobe deep with gas stocks and intrests.... why WOULD he want higher prices???... The ARTIC.... oh... THAT would be cheaper than pumping out of ALREADY EXISTING wells in the DAKOTAS????.... GET REAL

  • Posted By: american worker @ 06/12/2008 9:18:19 PM

first of all... OPEC controls the supply and the price of fuel, not bush, not the republicans, not the democrats, not the oil companies, and definately not the gas stations everyone is stealing from. second... everytime someone steals something, we all pay for it, so by stealing the gas, you are only adding to the problem of high prices. maybe people should aim higher then minimum wage jobs or welfare in this country instead of complaining about the handouts they are not getting from the gov't... take care of yourselves. everyone wants something for nothing. finally, nobody told you to go buy a gas guzzling suv if you can't afford the price of gas, drive something smaller, or walk.

    • Posted By: Non-following sheep @ 06/12/2008 9:28:40 PM

First... OPEC DOES control supply.... but the price is driven by SPECULATION OF FUTURES... ever hear of that???... Guess who THEY are.....people that bury theirselves in OIL to their earlobes.... kinda like someone putting money on YOU getting sicker and sicker till you DIE.... is THAT patriotism?????... nothing like you neighbor BETTING AGAINST YOU

      • Posted By: american worker @ 06/12/2008 9:40:22 PM

speculating that the american public is going to continue to buy and drive their huge cars, with low gas mileage so that they can drive around in them alone and be gluttonous and wasteful. there's a stretch.

  • Posted By: nodemfan @ 06/12/2008 9:35:39 PM

To all you brain surgeons that say Bush is the cause.. B/S. The real person who has the honor of causing this problem is none other then the first "Black" president none other then Bill Clinton. Fact he vitoed the bill the would have let us drill in Anwar, causing us atleast 1 million barrells of oil a day. Look it up. So you think things are bad now wait and see what happens if "Osama" Obama gets elected. He'll add more tax to the price which he has already said he would. We are screwed if he gets elected or if any stupid liberal democrat takes the oval office. Just wait and see.

    • Posted By: littlejohn @ 06/12/2008 9:39:29 PM

I guess it's all just coincidense that bush and cheney are oil men and neither one has stepped in to put a cap on all of this.

  • Posted By: okiejack @ 06/12/2008 9:37:27 PM

In World War II, Germany produced it's own oil by liquefying coal. Our own government is doing this on a small scale for the military. They have the technology to end our dependence on foreign oil, but the morons in Washington DC seem content to do nothing. If they start mining and liquefying coal into oil right now, we might just survive this thing. If they continue to make idiotic excuses and try to lay blame on others, then I think in 5 or 10 years, our way of life will be lost forever. God help our children, and damn Congress to HELL!!

  • Posted By: LEGOMAYEYO @ 06/12/2008 9:37:16 PM

SHOE WANNA NO WHO DA REAL THIEFS AR? CHEVRON, BP, EXXON, ETC ETC. YOU KNOW, THAT GANG OF THUGS THAT SEEM TO THINK THEY ARE UNTOUCHABLES.....

  • Posted By: lborden @ 06/12/2008 9:13:21 PM

You think stealing gas will help you? You can blame Bush if you want, however if you read the paper it clearly stated Obama and Clinton planned to do nothing for gas prices as well. I'll bet if a democrat gets in office he would not even give the stimulus checks that we are getting now. It's bad for everyone. I think there is a solution out there.

    • Posted By: thedude337 @ 06/12/2008 9:36:36 PM

If you could read you would see that they both said they do not have a dime in the oil industry and that they plan to fine the companies for outrageous record braking profits. And do you think your four hundred dollars make up for what we have lost over the past eight years. You probably think they can take your guns too and that this is an important issue we face, GET REAL!!

I think the trucking companys need to strike.Yea it would hard on everyone for abit. But do you realize how much money it would costs fuel companys and the goverment for one day if no truck runs in america. Trust me they would be lowering these prices after a bit.

    • Posted By: southern_belle213 @ 06/12/2008 9:36:08 PM

excuse me, but how do you propose that these truck drivers manage to feed their families and pay their bills. They already have to deal with not being paid for extra miles they are forced to drive, extra time they are forced into hanging around because their companies and the shippers they are delivering to don't want to pay THE DRIVER for the actual time and work they do. The trucking industry is regulated by the DOT to only drive for a 14 hour day, then force a 10 hour shutdown before they can drive again, legally. I can guarantee that there is doubtfully not a single driver on the road today that TELL THE COMPLETE AND ACTUAL TRUTH ON THEIR DRIVING HOURS AND MILES. The trucking industry is NOT the commercials you see where they tell you that you too can drive a dream job and make over $60,000 to $75,000 per year! Instead they work their asses off and kill themselves to be able to make maybe $20,000 a year.

So dsm372, just where do you think the men and women busting their asses to make sure that you get your snazzy little shoes, or paper, or whatever your little heart desires, what do they tell their wives and kids when they lose their jobs, their homes, have no money for food, much less the electricity, water and rent???? Sorry my dear ones.... an idiot thinks that if we just strike...which would be cute since trucking is not a union industry any longer....everyone in the government will immediately cut all the prices down to what this idiot wants?

Why don't you strike dear and tell your loved ones to go hungry and live on the street.

In Europe gas prices have always been very high, but they don???t go around and steal gas. I believe this is the downfall of the American society in general.
The Europeans called us the UGLY Americans, if you know what I mean.
Most Americans are loud and rude when they travel abroad, and have very little
    respect of other cultures.

    • Posted By: aztecman98 @ 06/12/2008 9:32:27 PM

They also have a highly intergrated mass transit system that doesn't exist in this country. Stop trying to compare Europe to the Us. Its like apples and oranges. Have you even been there before? probably not. When i was there. Never drove. Their cities are designed differently as well.

  • Posted By: nicquette @ 06/12/2008 7:56:09 PM

Gas prices will never drop significantly, not much oil for domestic drilling and building refineries is another waste....it's called PEAK OIL folks...and we've peaked! We're on the downside of the slope and there is no up. 'All good things must come to an end' couldn't be more fitting. There is no such thing as unlimited oil resources...too little too late.

    • Posted By: aztecman98 @ 06/12/2008 9:30:58 PM

Thats a bunch of BS. There are almost 1 trillion barrels of oil in the rockies and dakotas that our congress will not let us exploit. Peak oil is something they are using now to drive up prices. Another problem is speculation. There is NO shortage of oil. Its a bubble and like all bubbles will burst eventually

  • Posted By: nodemfan @ 06/12/2008 9:28:27 PM

To those idiots blaming Pres. Bush. The absolute person responsible for all this high price fuel is none other then...President Clinton. Think I'm wrong look it up. He in his great black wisdom vitoed the bill allowing us to drill in Anwar costing us (the US) approx. 1 million barrells of oil a day. Think things are bad now go ahead a vote for the gods gift to the world phonie a## "Osama" Barack
