We all know that the gas price problem is not specific to the U.S. I believe London, last I heard, was up to about $9 per gallon. That having been said, things are looking a little grim for us here in the states. We are suffering badly, and not just from the gas. We have become a fat, lazy, loud, abusive, ignorant, arrogant, selfish country. True, we are one of the world superpowers, but that give us no right to act the way we do to the rest of the world. Besides, how much longer can we remain a super power, with things as they now stand? Empires rise and fall throughout history, and we are definitely witnessing a decline in the American Empire. Something needs to be done; there needs to be some dramatic change, of that much I am certain. Unfortunately, I know too little of the world to have any idea just what would fix this nation, what would set it on the right path, with the ideals the founding fathers created this country with. If no one can make that change, I may have to take the coward's way out, and move to Europe. That might make me a cheater, but it is better than suffering needlessly, and with no gain.

ask yourself, 'why are the oilwells in North Dakota capped? look up the dimensions of the oil available under the Dakotas and Penn. ALONE. you will understand just how much the government cares about you and the struggle of less fortunate families to feed their children.... maybe it's just to keep everyone in their place, AT HOME

It's just where our society has turned. No one works on a solution. It is easier to lie, sue, and steal than to improve. What a shame - luckily their Karma will come back to KICK THEIR OWN ASSES.

I agree - times are really getting hard - I, like most common people, am glad when I have enough monthly income to meet the monthly expenses. And yes, those government officials tied to the oil conspiracy and greed are causing this to increase. I thought Bush would be a good President, and it ended up that he was just another who lied and took advantage of us. The worst part is that we knew he was in the oil business - what did we expect him to do - be honest with us. He is not going to go against those who keep him in riches. The presidency was only for a short time, but his wealth and connection to those in the oil business is for life. How do we monitor every official that we vote in, to make sure they are not getting paid off, like Bush was/is?

    *** bush, that craker moron

  • Posted By: kvmalik @ 06/12/2008 7:51:44 PM

All you BUSH bashers need to learn some political history. It was Bill Clinton who vetoed drilling domestic oil and it is the current Democratic majority lead Congress who continues to veto drilling domestic oil and building nuclear power plants. Soo.....keep voting for Democrats and you will keep paying high gas prices! DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, PAY LESS!

There is only one problem. Bush has his hands in the oil business and he is getting richer while all of us amecicans are getting poor. Open up your eyes.

Why not punish theives here like they do in the middle east. Get caught stealing, chop off a hand or an arm. I bet that would deter all the parasite thieves out there. IF not, great, try stealing with one arm!!!

Great!! Why don't we just all start ethnic cleansing why were at it. We as Americans should know how to justly try a thief, and it's not by cutting of f any of his or her appendages.

This increase of crime due to rising fuel prices couldn't bother me less.... I don't use gasoline other than for my lawn mower, so with that said.... Use your minds and conjure a new fuel that is limitless so this dillema doesn't occure.

    Thank you,

    Adro, the Nightmare.

well, thats what happens when gas prices start rising. I don't blame the 2 men who heist the gas station and rest of the people who paid them to get gas. People are going to start doing what they can can to get what they need even if ti comes down to doing illegal things. The economic world is so corrupted right now, its just a ;you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.

OMG, not that I am for stealing from other people. (I'm not) BUT, what do we expect? We are getting closer to darker times everyday, and some people need that fuel to feed their families. Can you really blame them? Not only the lazy are stealing, blue collar, hard working people are theiving just to make ends meet. I am a law abiding cit. BUT, there comes a point in our lives, when the counrty is falling apart, our paychecks are not enough and we have got to drive because we work in construction...blah blah blah...sometimes, pilfering is necessary. You call them the crooks, I call the our so called Leaders in Gov't the crooks. They could put an end to this right now, bt instead, they line their pockets too. God help us all.

I think our goverment is taking advantage of thier citizens with these high gas prices. And they call themselves americans.HA!!!! I think the citizens of the usa should vote out all the congressmen and senators that are in office now. Lets get in thier pocketbook like they have the american citizens. Its time we stand up and fight against the goverment officials that are ruining this wonderful country.

journalists should be focusing on the oil execs instead of the thieves. the oil execs are the real thieves

  • Posted By: Colt45 @ 06/12/2008 8:26:39 PM

It costs more to be a thief so naturally gas theft will go up. Lock your doors, lock your tanks, lock and load, and be on the lookout for crime.

  • Posted By: kittie @ 06/12/2008 8:25:25 PM

why don't you put more ideas into thieves minds.

  • Posted By: dsm372 @ 06/12/2008 8:25:09 PM

Our goverment is taking advantage of the citizens with high gas prices. I feel everyone in america needs to vote all the congressmen and senators out the next election. Lets hit thier pocket book like they are ours.

Why don't you clever gas thieves pull your money together and carpool. Better yet, get a job and stop stealing our gas and oxygen to commit your crimes.

The whole world needs to keep their mouths shut about oil/gas prices and take the medicine. We have all known since 1973 that these times would come and we heard all of the stories about alternative energy sources back then and about quitting worldwide dependence on oil.But nothing has changed. It is business as usual.General Motors killed the EV1 electrical car and crushed all of those not in museums.Where were you all then?So it only went 60 mi. on a charge. Most of us could have went to work on that charge alone with no side trips for 2 days. How much gas/oil would that save? And the Bush administration helped kill the EV1. Where I live E85 runs around the same price as gasoline, yet approx. 100mi. west of me it sells around $1 less per gallon.Think that might be price gouging?Yes,Americans are arrogant. We lead the world in oil use.And the oil producing countries count on our arrogance and that we are not going to change our ways,at least not for long.In the State of Nebraska if you own a Hybrid vehicle, the State Gov't bills the owner $75 for not paying their "fair share" of highway taxes.Sounds very much like penalizing a person because they try to do something to help cure some of the problem.Guess we should all be punished, and we are.Griping about it will not help.Only changing our ways and way of thinking will help.So unless we are all going to change our ways and try to really force the automakers, oil companies, etc. to do things differently, then sit down, shut up,and stay on the porch with the puppies.

Until the price of gas drops I hope, these people who are setting a very bad idear into the minds of others when caught should be ( I'm sure you can read my mind at this point) I find it very hard to say the right thing .Be put away for a long time.
