Ya know, I own an SUV. Last August I bought a 2007 Nissan Xterra as I needed the space for my 2 children, my wife, and the massive amount of baby things we must take with us every where we go. (ie, strollers, baby bags, toys, etc etc) At that time I lived only 7 miles away from my job.

I was laid off and now must drive about 40 miles one way to get to work. My new job only paid about 1500 more than my last job...but I don't see that raise. All that extra money +more goes right into my gas tank.

I have no choice but to drive to work. There is no bus, no commuter rail, no public transportation that goes from my town to where I work.

At this point in time, we are trying to sell our house so that we can move closer to where I work, but with the market the way it is, it has just been sitting there.

While the gas prices aren't yet causing us to miss meals or to not pay other bills, it still takes a chunk out of our "fun money", We used to go out every weekend to shows, to shop, to camp, etc. Now we must plan ahead and factor in the additional gas cost and food costs. Where as before, we never gave it any thought.

We have reduced our spending to compensate, but this sucks. I bust my @$$ to earn a good living and its all going right into my gas tank.

keep a small car (even used) for daily commute.. how about sharing ride?

sharing my story. I suspect gasoline was siphoned off from my van last time I went for service. I went to a prestigious Toyota service center for oil change. I was pretty sure that the gas level was much lower when I took the car back. I didn't complain because I knew the desk guys well and didn't want to be seen as a jerk, of course. But next time, when I go to these places, I will make sure that I have only just enough gas in my car, so it would n't be worth siphoning. I guess with the price like this we should hold on to our gasoline like gold.

Can't say I don't blame them. Fuel is geting costly, times are getting tough and people will do what they have to do to get by.

It's a shame that people in the U.S. use high gas prices as an excuse to steal gas. Remember the Rodney King riots? "I don't like the verdict...I'm entitled to a free TV". Is this our nation's collective mentality? Gas prices in Europe and many other places have historically been much higher than in the States, even with recent price increases. Europeans have learned to cope by making responsible choices. Decades of low gas prices have resulted in bad choices by our auto industry and the consumers who purchase their gas-guzzling behemoths. Like it or not, being an American does not mean we're entitled to cheap gas. How about we pull our heads out of our collective rumps and start leading by example? If we can't develop our own common sense...maybe we can steal it from someone else.

The truth is simple. We all stuck in a downward sprial. I am serving in Iraq in the Army. I feel it's not just the gas prices. It's everthing in the good old USA that is going to pot. It cost the tax payer 400 billion dollars a year for us to be here. Most people over here do nothing, but sit aroud all day everyday. I drive a fuel truck. Take fuel all over the place what they can't fit, going on the ground. This country is stable, but we still spend the tax payer money to keep us here. Don't you think that money could be better spent in our own country. Them mabe the gas prices, econmy, health care or education. Might not be that big of an issuse. I was a Bush supporter in the beginng. Now that I see things first hand. I reget my vote now. Something has to change, or more and more good people are turning bad. Just to make ends meat and to take care of there families.

We have a local cartoon here where it shows 2 executives from the oil companies bumping bellys & giving high fives saying "At last we've gotten the american public to think $3.00 a gallon is cheap!" If that doesn't say it all then nothing else does! They hit the nail right on the head with that one!! We are being ripped off every day by the oil companies and we as AMERICAN'S should put a stop to it but no one will stick together! And like I said if you want a bunch of truckers to stick together you myswell forget it. Do you know what the difference between puppies & truck drivers is? The puppies quit whining after 6 months!! It's a shame that you can't get them to stick together. We have a logistics company that gives us our freight, PLS, from Pittsburg, PA, do you know how they are helping out with the rising fuel costs? Asking, well really demanding that the trucking companies lower their rates, which by the way are lower than they were 10 years ago, and if you don't lower your rates then you are left out in the cold. We work for Steel Transport of Gary, IN out of the Middletown area and it is a tough thing to deal with. You have some of the execs sleeping with dispatchers to get good freight and they don't have to lower their rates. It's a dog eat dog world!!

Well as everything goes to pot in the USA. Nobody cares about the day to day struggles of everyday life for the adverage person, but as it gets harder, and people feel like it's never going to end. We will have good people going bad. If his country will fastly become a third world. I am serving in Iraq right now. Today it does not make sence to spend 400 billion dollars a year to keep us here. Alot of us doing nothing. Really who should care if Iraq is stable at the cost. When that money can be use to stablize the good old USA.

close all borders and only depend on what we have here in the states,, that is the problem here is we depend other countries for our sources and they an put thier own price on whatever they want, that is the problem here with the gas,, the middle east has put their price on oil, thw U S A has always put a helping hand to the ones in need out of the states,, but close the door on americans............

I just remembered my car is still in the driveway!...I'll go drive it into the garage, and don't want crazy people to "milk" the tank, like they are doing in Dallas already.....ouch!!!!

It is unnecessary to increase $$$ gasoline and increase $$ foods prices. It is not our leader govertment propaganda.... it is consider illigal ...and effect good human being...

    Good night ladies and Gents
Im going to DREAM of making a tapped pipeline from the exxon reserve over here into my garage. Its a shame I live in houston where oil is in our yards and gas is 4.00 a gallon. I can understand it being high in someplace like Nebraska but Texas needs to branch off again into its own republic. Then you can drive here for 60 cent gas

  • Posted By: obamasucks @ 06/13/2008 2:36:50 AM

As long as they arent stealing from the working class its alright by me. When i make 8 billion a year do you think im going to be worried about some petty thieves? The black market lowers prices. Competition is healthy.
I WOULD LOVE FOR SOMEONE TO CALCULATE THIS.
HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO RENT A 5 MILLION GALLON TANKER AND BUY THE GAS IN IRAG FOR 45 CENTS AND BRING IT BACK? MY GRANDFATHER IS IN PUERTO RICO AND GAS IS 1.73 ITS ONLY A HUNDRED MILES OFF THE COAST. OF FLORIDA.

    • Posted By: militarylife @ 06/13/2008 2:43:28 AM

who do you think their stealing it from??
      did you read the article?
because it said right there that the gas station owner had to suck up the $4000 dollar bill.
hello do you think just because they run a gas station they are rich.
Gas stations are franchises meaning they may carry the name of an oil company but its own by a middle american person struggling to make ends meet just like you and me.

    • Posted By: ouch!!!! @ 06/13/2008 2:42:44 AM

well, they ARE stealing from the working class, if according to militarylife, the owners of the gas stations already pay the oil companies for that gas, then it is them the one and only affected by this act...not the rich guy from the big companies...so I guess is not right then, am I wrong?

  • Posted By: obamasucks @ 06/13/2008 2:41:13 AM

The United states was founded on quality. Im not accusing canada of copy cat stuff. If you want to compete you have to do it right and canada does. A few years ago china and russia dumped cheap steel over here now we dont have the capacity, and china and russia need thir steel. Canada is helping and its a great quality. Its an open border for education.

  • Posted By: obamasucks @ 06/13/2008 2:28:02 AM

Canada is an allied country open to fair trade. They are our best friends, and the greatest neighbors a country could want. They help us with everything. CANADA HAS EXCELLENT QUALITY STANDARDS. We taught them well.

    • Posted By: militarylife @ 06/13/2008 2:35:17 AM

yeah i was with you until you had to add the 'we taught them well' part.
I think this whole forum kind of proves other wise don't you think?
i mean really are you going to say we taught Canada their excellent quality standards....have you ever been inside a wal-mart.

  • Posted By: tostos002008 @ 06/13/2008 2:33:09 AM

This is not consider Human Nature" Not " stealing gas" or "Thieves Petrol". matters... we all have a same feeling...was caause by stupid global warming campaign....."RISING PETROL TO STOP BURNING FUEL CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING." we been cheated by those crook orgainasations....what you reckon bro.....
