hello, I'm military. do you think I live in a palace? i pay $8.00 a gallon for gas. I get paid in us dollars but have to by things in euro which by the way cuts my pay in half right there. I get the hurt. trust me. and I don't have to be rude to get my point across.
i worry every pay check how to buy gas which is why i make sure to educate myself on the alternatives, i write my congressman, I vote. i do my part.

So....according to you militarylife....what would be a good solution to the problem...you sure have a critique for any other comment...but what about a possible solution?...what would you do to minimize the impact of the situation?

I totally agree militarylife...however there are millions of people financially hurting right now.....

I think the way things are going with the fuel prices and the food prices we might end up haveing another great depression coming if it gets too much worse . people are going to get pissed off and start riots and picketing all sorts of things to make the government do something about it . and those stimulus payments we kinda good kinda bad because we basically spent the money on things we have had to hold off on cause all our money is being spent on the extra cost of fuel and food . most families that were just making ends meet are now facing things like loseing their homes which is why the real estate cost have been dropping so fast. the government better get of their high and mighty butts and do something before things get too bad and many americans will end up living in poverty. which will make the crime rate sky rocket and not just for stealing gas

hahahaha people, it is nothing for Europeans to pay upwards of $5 a gallon for gas. most DO and WILL and you know what they do? they drive fuel efficient cars and limit excess driving. Do you really need a 4x4 SUV if you live in the heart of Atlanta? NOOO. And i keep hearing all the arguments of pissed off ignorant people about how "It's Bush's fault" and "He's a Fascist". Fascism is the act of deliberately controlling all aspects of a country via scare tactics and brute force. Bush has less than one-third of the power over our country. Most of the bad decisions have been made by people completely out of Bush's control. He just gets the blame because he is only one man instead of many. Why dont we just call it what it is and say that you all are too LAZY to learn the names of the people that really make stupid decisions and like toblame Bush because it's easier. Let's just look at this election for what it really is. The race for the next scapegoat.

YOU must be on the BUSH payroll, bush us an oil man and this is all part of the bush plan, he is an oil man and you can bet that he is making record profits just as exxon and all the other oil companys are, this is all part of the plan to steal as much of the tax dollars that he can while he is in office just as is his side kick Cheney with HALIBURTON who has got caught rebilling 3 and 4 times for the same thing , BUT they HALIBURTON is still over doing business as usual , WHY IS THAT?, it couldn't be because CHENEY is the boss over there OH NOOO he steped down untill he isnt the VP any more because it would be a conflict of intrest DAAAAAAA you show that you are a MORON when you try to defend these idiots if i had a government contract and got caught over billing them i would be in a federal prison making those 200 dollar hammers and 20 dollar screws and 250 dollar toilet seats OH YEA REMEMBER THOSE but that is a whole different story and another way the feds are stealing tax dollars every day, we are taxed so hard its a wonder we can eat yet we cant take care of our own homeless and sick and how about the elderly tha cant afford to real food ? they eat pet food. and then the regular american family man with 3 kids and a dog like me , i have a SUV and it gets 22 mpg on the freeway and about 15 mpg in the city but i thought this was supposed to the land of the free , the land of plenty , where a person could drive a car big enough to take all your kids to the lake in one trip, well i will and iwill also speak out about our president and his crew when they are plain stealin and killin our country, and anyone that trys to defend these TARDS is a complete MORON

    • Posted By: backwoods @ 06/13/2008 12:37:28 AM

you cant be serious , bush is an oil man , do you really beleave he is not making record profits himself ? then you live in a box and how about cheany and his company halliburton that he says that he has stepped down from while he is VP and how they have got caught over billing 3 and 4 times and got paid and thay are still there doing the same thing the bush boys YOU KNOW THEM GOOD OL BOYS have removed the folks that caught the over billings and replaced them with their coucins , and its business as usual for bush and his crew, look at his tenyear he has replaced all of his cabinet members 1 by 1 as they get caught and then he saves them from jail ,,,if i did a job for the government and over charged them id be in a federal prison making those 300 dollar hammers or those 20 doller screws REMEMBER THAT SCANDAL again the feds stealin from the tax payer UNTILL we stand up TOGETHER and say enough it will never stop , but for a butt head to try and defend these ASS holes makes you a MORON

a long term fix is admitting we need to change the demand for crude oil.
There are hundreds of different ways to produce energy that don't require more drill, more oil, more polution.
I'm not a liberal but I'm not stupid either.

leave alaska alone, go drill your ass for gas

  • Posted By: point&click @ 06/13/2008 1:00:54 AM

You guys just don't get it... or rather, you believe the lies of the liberals! Go and check records to see who is behind the gas wars! Oh, and while you are at it, take a look at Clinton's coffers to do with Haliburton! Catch a brain and start thinking on your own! Like they say, if you repeat a lie enough times, they will believe it! Maybe it's time to "drill and vote".

A long term fix is relying on our own fuel supply rather than depending on foreign oil........

it looks like terrorists have infiltrated the stock market, posing as speculators, they were able to ruin the U.S. economy.. something they have always dreamed of.. and YES, it ABSOLUTELY WAS the speculators that did this.. NOTHING else...

Google John Kanzius, retired radio station owner and inventor

drilling in alaska is a short term solution to a very long term problem.
We got into this mess wanting the quick fix.
We can't keep thinking. Whats good right now...we have to start thinking for what will fix this for good. and drilling in alaska isn't going to do that.

the bottom line is: does the oil they drill rightfully belongs to them "oil companies", they are drilling it and processing it, but does that makes it theirs to profit, so that means I can pump saltwater from the ocean process it and turn it into fresh drinking water and sell it, well I think if you can't afford it and have a big ass suv or a soccermom vehicle just steal it what the hell they are making money anyway

  • Posted By: EddieA @ 06/13/2008 12:55:47 AM

There are a few of us who are still alive that remember the oil embargo that the major oil producers inflicted on the american public in the early 1970's. We didn't have a choice then and we don't have a choice now. We have to play the game by their rules because they have what we need and I have no doubt that they will take what they can as long as they have the present administration protection. This is a hard lesson in republican supply side economics. Control the supply and you can damn well charge what you want. I have no doubt that when it's all said and done, we will see an exposed collusion between the oil producing countries and the big oil companies. And when the stuff finally does hit the fan, those in power will take their mega-golden parachute retirements and hide out in their gated communities. Ed

why are we not drillins for oil in alaska? if we can have dollar a gallon gas agian i dont care where we drill. we need to stop sending are hard earned money to the saudies

    • Posted By: militarylife @ 06/13/2008 12:55:17 AM

is the comment even for real.....there is so much wrong with what you have just said.

  • Posted By: MizBeaverhousen @ 06/13/2008 12:55:05 AM

Heck, I'm all for drilling in Alaska! I live in a town that is about 40 miles away from the city, so getting to Costco is costly....my sons extracurricular activities in the city are also becoming costly as well.....something needs to be done.

  • Posted By: MizBeaverhousen @ 06/13/2008 12:52:10 AM

Yes, just recently a man who was trying to cure cancer by using radio waves ended up with an invention that turns saltwater into fuel...it is quite fascinating! However, he said he would sell it to, "whomever wants to buy it"....Hmmm who do you think that might be?

  • Posted By: Flotzam @ 06/13/2008 12:49:21 AM

Geesh ,Everyone Google Water Fuel and watch the vidio then scroll down and look at kits for sale..I think everone will be dumbfounded..I'd heard about this for a couple of years.. Gas Stealing isn't new, My Dad who lived during the depression said it was quite common even then..How much Gas do you think you pay for on Goverment bases? Fuel the plane fill up a line of cars..Like I said..Nothing new under the sun..

"Truckers are increasingly falling prey to thieves targeting diesel, which has also reached stratospheric prices. "

You say, "stratospheric prices. ". You're just a bunch of spoiled cry babbies in the USA, we have been paying quadruple of your prices per gallon in Europe for Years!

Perhaps it is time you all ask "Why in heavens did we all vote for the catastrophic economic and war policies of George Bush?" And it would be a smart article to write next:

Why haven't impeached Gearge Bush and profitiering Vice President Dick Cheney yet"?

You know, the gag order by the Bush administration on the investigation on over 70 USA companies involved in the stealing of BILLIONS of dollars in Iraq and belonging to the US taxe payer! (Halliburton is one of the main ones, does Dick Cheney name, ring a bell?)
