As i watch the coverage of Tim Russet, I am struck by his decency, compassion, humor, faith, and dedication to family and friends. He is truly a humble example for all of us to follow. He was a Catholic guy who loved his family, God, politics, his roots in Buffalo, Rolling Rock beer, and Bruce Springsteen. I will miss him.

He was a treasure for all Obamaniacs.

Tim Russert was one of our National Treasures. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Russert family as well as his NBC family.

having no choice about being sent to fight in a war in a foreign land does not make one a hero nor does getting shot in the process.

Obviously you have never served. When you volunteer for the military, you never know if you will go to war, or remain safe on the home front. On the birthday of the US Army, I salute all those heroes that placed their life on the line, peacetime or wartime. Ask any veteran, they will tell you that the real heroes are the ones who paid the ultimate price. Maybe someday you will understand this.

While it is a tragedy for the Russert family, you would think that the President of the US had just died. As I write this comment, right below this section is a small blurb about four US soldiers killed in Afghan blast. Do you think we will hear about these brave men for the next few days, with as much outpouring of grief as has been flooding the airwaves. The news media do take care of their own, ignoring the sacrifices of the real heroes.

It is a loss to Tim Russert's family. I just wish the news media would spend as much time when reporting the death of one of the brave military men who die defending this country. Mr. Russert was a good journalist, but you would think that the President of the U.S. had just died, considering the endless "news" reporting. Just consider that as I write this, a tiny blurb below this section speaks of "four US soldiers killed in Afghan blast". Do you think we will hear about these brave men for the next few days?

While the coverage has been extensive, it is nice to see decency, love of family, parents and God be so well appreciated and admired. Mr. Russert's greatest legacy may be that in this celebrity obsessed culture that is it perfectly acceptable and admirable to be a good son, father and friend - that is why I believe the ourpouring of grief has been so great -

Sunday morning will never be the same. Goodbye old guy. We will miss you.

We are so heartbroken! God always takes the good ones, doesn't He? Why him, and not Hannity or O'Reilly? Tim Russert is family in our household, a relative who comes to visit every Sunday morning. We set the clock to make sure we wake up in time for Meet the Press on Sunday mornings.

He was a real journalist in the style of Walter Chronkite and Peter Jennings, who just reported the news instead of trying to create it. His reporting was often hard-hitting, but it truly was "fair and balanced", unlike his competitors on Faux News. If Russert said it on his show, it was usually true. I just can't believe he won't be here for this historic election, which he has covered with so much clarity and unbiased honesty.

What an honorable man and a real American in the finest sense of the word. A dutiful son, a loving father, and a consummate professional, greatly respected by his viewers and peers alike. Bravo, Tim. What a ride! A life well lived, and a work well done. God bless and comfort your family, especially your dad on what will surely be a miserable Fathers Day for him. Good journey to you and welcome home. We will miss you so very much!

"Why him, and not Hannity or O'Reilly? Shame on you for such a thought. Death will come to us all, favored and unfavored by each of us, but to wish Death upon someone else who does not conform to your way of thinking is just ludicrous. I rarely watch TV anymore; yet, I too can appreciate the professionalism that has been lost with his passing. Rest in Peace, Tim.

    I'm Really Torn Up Inside...

I Loved this Fair, Balanced, Informative, Eye Opening, Straight Down The Middle, Impartial & Always Gracious , Yet Courageous Whenever Under Fire or when Firing Upon a Guest with the facts.... This Man was a Journalistic Giant and I for one Respect and Cherish what he Stood for...

    Tim Russert

I Love You Tim and I Will Miss You...My Fair & Truly Balanced Friend.

Tim Russert's gone-with-the-wind style to exit the world is very graceful. How did he address the issue on how to find an exit for those who suffer a great deal by sandwiching between life and death? We should also question our presidential candidates about their posts on how to legally allow everyone a choice to exit gracefully.

May God bless and keep Tim's family through this time. We are all less for this loss. May he rest in peace. Go with God, Tim.

I'll miss you and your marker board. Whenever Matt or Brian would say, "Let's go to our Washington Bureau correspondant Tim Russert." I would always stop and listen. He was so insightful and wise. What a loss! You were one of a kind, Tim.
