The boom had little to do with Musharraf. Pakistan depended on the kindness of strangers.

Sumit Ganguly you are definitely wrong. The greatest threat to Pakistan is the imminent US invasion! There are already collaborators paving the way to that effect. The minimum US involvement in controlling Pakistan will be using Kalyani, the head of the Pakistan military to organise a bloodless coupe.

Pakistanis are used to hardships and living with meagre sustanence. Pakistanis are also used to political instabilities and financial turmoils. Infact Pakistan has never been stable politically and never had a strong economy since its creation. The majority of the people are not affected by the economic figures and growth. They just want to lead a simple life. Don't make your assessments based on the western or rather the American point of view.

Sumit Ganguly is of Indian/Hindu origin. His views about Pakistan, therefore, cannot be taken as impartial and unbiased. He sees things about Pakistan from a purely Indian/Hindu perspective.

Zardari and Sharif will take Pakistan further down the road of ruin and finally Kiyani will be forced to step in and take the reigns of power to preevent collapse. This is likely the best case scenario and so past will be progoue yet again. It appears Pakistan cannot escape the negative reverberations of the narrative myth about her founding, and significance to the islamic world.

    Pakistan is doomed.

Galloping over population accelerated by female illiteracy means the country will double it's population in 25 years.

It is already desper\atrely short of water, depending on only one overused river,, the Indus.

This is a Malthusian crunch that cannot be escaped.

Bad luck for India, which will face a population spillover and massive Hindu-Muslim slaughters.

Pakistan is being governed by a military dictator, he took over power through military might and promised to the people of Pakistan that he will introduce good governance but after 9/11 he became American ally and President Bush staunch friend against war on terror. Now he has brought the war into his own country. This is American???s report that out of billions dollars he accounted far only 30% rest he did not.

His Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr Ishrat Hussain the most corrupt Governor of State Bank of Pakistan by bringing the rate interest immediately so much so low without the industrial development that the people took away their every day devaluing money from the banks and invested with the land developers or in plots. The big land mafia like Behria Town and Defense Housing societies (Military) earned billions of rupees through the customers provided by the Governor State Bank of Pakistan.

The others who did not buy plots went into share market. The share markets were crashed by insiders and hence looted billions of public money who came for trading in the stock markets. The Governor brought the interest rate as much low as 2% without industrial development just to provide customers to the Land mafias all over the country. Those land grabbers caused fresh vegetables and milk scarcity by depriving the green land areas of the vegetable growers and milk producers around the cities. Above all those thugs destroyed green fields and ecology of mother nature.

There was no financial planning though he had appointed Shoukat Aziz a Banker as his prime Minister but he was selling big industrial units to his favorites. After losing election he ran away to live abroad with the huge money he earned by corrupt practices.
Musharraf Government also erased about 60 billions worth bank loans of his favorites. To cover up that money State Bank printed currency note in billions hence caused the huge inflation. Now in-spite of the western countries support the country is suffering with acute economic problems because of his one man rule and lack of economic planning and corrupt practices. Though Elections were held in February 2008 but no change is visible as result of the election. Mismanagement is still going on with same speed. The economic threat to Pakistan is far more greater than the threat of terrorism.
