Dear Pearl,

If you would take the time to read Obama's book Audacity of Hope, you would know that Obama is against Marxism, and discusses how both Communism and Socialism have FAILED. Obama is a Constitutional scholar who loves America and thinks it has the greatest political system on earth.

While you are at the library, get copies of McCain's books also. Read them and compare them to Obama's. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

And, I beg to differ with you, but I think the root of all Communism in America is in Joe McCarthy's brain.

All kidding aside, the headquarters of the American Communist Party is on 23rd Street in NYC, not in Chicago. The headquarters of the American Nazi Party is in Arlington, Virginia. Chicago was, in times past, known for being a gangster town. It was also known for it's rough and tumble party politics. But when you say "Communism," Chicago does not just leap into my mind.

I think that you need to get your facts straight.

And you ask if I am "one of those people." I assume that you mean a Communist. Is your candidate so weak that it is time to start a witch hunt?

I was born in Nebraska to Christian parents and went to Sunday school. My family was Navy and I grew up all over the place. My parents were both Democrats. I was a Republican all my life until recently, now that I have come out in support of Obama after seeing what a mess the GOP has made of our country. I have never been a Communist. In fact, when i was in college, there was a group of Marxist students on my campus and they hated me, because I used to trounce them in debates, showing the other students how incredibly stupid Marxism really is. You're picking on the wrong person.

Do yo even understand what Marxism is? Because if you did, you wouldn't be making such a ridiculous statement.

Dear Pearl Harbor, I think you missed the point of the one and only post in which I referred to the Keating scandal. I referred to it only in passing, as the pivotal point in McCain's career when he stepped out in favor of campaign finance reform, which was his first step down the road towards his five year stint as a liberal Republican.

I was not going off on McCain or claiming he was guilty or anything. I said that some "shim sham corporations had been pumping money into his campaign coffers." Which is absolutely true. The corporations in question were fake S&L banks that failed, which is a good reason to call them shim-sham. McCain was investigated and disciplined by the Senate, but not found guilty of any crime. However, what he did then is illegal now, in part because of the very campaign finance reform that McCain himself sponsored after the fact. And I RESPECT and admire him for doing so.

I think that in you natural desire to defend your candidate, you have misinterpreted my meaning in regards to the Keating Scandal. Furthermore, even though there are things about McCain that I respect, I do NOT think he would be a good President for America right now. He has a cold war mind, and we need a younger President who is thinking in 21st century terms, because we have 21st century problems.

Last but not least, I never lie in my posts. When I am wrong I admit it. When people challenge me, I give sources for my information, and my sources are reputable, not smear websites, which is all the anti-Obama bloggers ever come up with to support their "facts." I research my blogs carefully and make sure that I am telling the truth using accurate verifiable data.

By the way, thank you for thinking that I'm being paid by Newsweek. I'm honored. But I don't think they would have me. Over the years I've written Newsweek several letters to the editor that I thought were real cracker-jacks, but they never have published any of them. Boo hoo.
