Many people criticized and continue to criticize Huxley for his novel. Several seeds have been planted in the U.S., which have created alarming parallels to Huxley???s novel. The socialist and communist movements have been lurking in the shadows of America for many generations, but the movements have recently come to the forefront of the political platform. Some politicians are attempting to assign the government exclusive control of too many aspects of daily life. For example, in certain areas of Los Angeles, elected officials have created restrictions on where new fast food restaurants can and cannot establish themselves. Yes, you heard me right; the ???man??? is telling you that you can???t get a juicy hamburger and fries in South L.A., whether you like it or not. What???s worse is that state and national politicians are trying to rob you of your right to access fast and easy payday loans. Politicians want to eliminate payday loans in an attempt to win the votes of bigger corporations like banks, so they can take office and promote their self-interests. Stand up and be heard. Fight to free yourself from the government???s ever-increasing power over your daily life.

Okay I'll run for veep. I know I'm just a tax payer BUT I feel just as qualified as anyone else to hold this office. This is my basic platform: build de-salinization plants, mostly around L.A. so we can keep OUR water in N. Cal., NO MORE SWEETS on lunch trays in Public Schools, longer sentences for convicted child molesters, rapists and drunk drivers, lesser sentences for bad check bouncers; a swifter legal system to facilitate the sentencing procedure. More money for schools, music programs, teachers, medical clinics and food banks; less money for professional basketball, football and baseball players and Oil empires. what I'm wondering is if Obama does win the Presidency how much does it help him to pull all this democratic talent from the Senate? I mean supposing he taps Hillary for Veep or Secretary of Health and Human services, or Dodd/Kerry/Biden for state that would take 3 Democratic Senators out of the Senate, who fills those posts? Does the state Governor pick a replacement, in that case Kerry would be a safe bet because Obama is tight with Governor Patrick

No senator wants to lower themselves into the position of Secretary of State, with the possible exception of Sen. Larry Craig. Kerry, Biden and Dodd will not give up their influence in the Senate to run errands on behalf of President Obama. The momentary prestige just doesn't justify the long term risk. Better to stay put and react than to be the one causing the reaction. Senators are way too comfy to want to be exposed as foolish, subservient or stupid. Mr. Obama has to go as far away as possible from the Senate to find the right person. How about a military man or a woman? Oh, thats right, Bush already did that and the results were not exactly desirable.

Who really cares about this election any more? Now that BOTH parties have successfully nominated the WORST possible candidates, we can all sit back and enjoy the ride into socialism / liberalism / communism / progressivism. I sooo look forward to the soup lines. I can hardly wait.
It would be nice if one of these clowns would actually look at the cause of our problems before plastering billion dollar government sponsored band aids on the situation. Everything these jokers come up with is certain to send us that much closer to government sponsored bankruptcy.
This nation used to be great when it was the land of opportunity--both to succeed and to fail. The direction it is headed is to mediocrity, because we seem to want to have the opportunity to succeed, but be shielded from the opportunity to fail. Unfortunately, the laws of economics do not allow such a separation. The more you limit the opportunity for failure, the opportunity for success is also limited (all the higher tax talk on the upper class is evidence of this.) Limiting the opportunity for success ultimately leads to a lack of motivation for innovation, which is what made our nation great, and will make us a nation of lemmings who just want to go to our jobs, feeling entitled to be taken care of by the government.
Wake up people, Government solutions are not solutions. It's up to us as citizens to show what we are made of. Electing some joker who is full of empty promises and wrong solutions is not the answer. Until we start teaching our children personal responsibility, our country will continue to deteriorate.
All you people who falsely blame President Bush for our current economic troubles are sooo misguided, it's not even funny. Has he screwed up in many many ways? Absolutely. Has this Democratic run congress screwed up in just as many ways? Absolutely. Some day, maybe people will realize that the strength of our country lies in the strength of the people--not the government. Until we do, we are on a slippery slope.-

I agree with most of your observation, except for the part "Has this Democratic run congress screwed up in just as many ways? Absolutely" The Democrats didn't take control of Congress until January 2007. Until then it was a Republican monopoly, so to say that they have screwed up just as much is a little specious. Speaking of which, it was the Republicans who got us into our current mass amount of debt by ridiculous spending. It does appear that the democrats are going to put us into more debt. No one cares about fiscal responsibility any more.

Take a look at the 2004 DNC Convention where the national media is panning to the audience during applause for Obama during his keynote speech.
Same image, different time. Hillary was toast four years ago. No way was the boy's club let a woman lead the DNC, and the party.
As far as Obama's cabinet, we will see a lot of familiar faces, and names. It's same old, same old politics put in a package called Barrack Hussein Obama. -

It is about McCain's solution to Health Care Plan where it is stating in article that both their cancers they have and are still dealing with staying on top of would not be covered under his plan if due to pre-condition.

Everything is mutually inclusive. Example gas for work, or food? If you can't afford gas, how do you go to work to obtain food? Our country is heading for recession. or already in one depending who you are speaking to... We are in a quagmire. If a person in the top economic braket, none of the questions I asked below would apply.
My point is, when thinking about your vote, all of those things plus many more must be considered when you consider a candidate. The hysteria of the comment below mine indicated to me that the person was not thinking thoroughly, rather emotionally...The very last comment led me to state the questions was"he has no clue" is worrisome and naive statement.
When you vote, you want to be prepared to make a wise decison, regardless of whom is chosen....-

Actually, only a little over half of the people of these great United States told Kerry in 2004, "We do not want you. Go away." The rest said, "Hey John, please be our president." To read your post, one might get confused and think he got something like 10% of the vote. And the people of MA voted how they pleased. Generally, endorsements make little impact on elections, whether by John Kerry or anyone else.

There will be no such thing as superdelegates in the 2012 election. If there are, Obamas push for change which is needed with the democratic process will be gone. I was disgusted with Kerry voting the way he did when MA overwhelming voted for Hillary. I wouldnt vote for Obama if he was on the ticket. But then, I dont think it will happen anyways. Webb is a good choice, but he might outshine Obama.

Yeah like Kerry McCain's file is sealed, though he did that in the last year. What is he hiding, why is McCain acting like John Kerry? Is it a "John" thing? Why are McCains files sealed? If you ever get the opportunity, sit down and talk to one of the POWs who spent time in the Hanoi Hilton. I was in the Army during and after Vietnam and some of my leaders were WWII, Korean and Vietnam POWs and they were the finest men with whom I served. To a man - all of them had a different perpsective on life after they were rescued or released and they were an inspiration to us. One thing no one ever talks about is how many of them died in captivity. In the early 1970's, the Joint Casualty Resolution Center flew another C-141 to Hanoi after the POWs were released to bring back many many remains of the POWs who couldn't manage the day to day existence, disease, and bad treatment and perished in the North Vietnamese prison and were buried in simple graves behind the prison. How could you possibly repeat something as accusatorial and unfounded about this man unless you knew it as an absolute fact? How do you think you would have done?

I have an uncle who is a POW sir. And the statements made are based on the eyewitness accounts of 2 American commanders that were in the same camp as McCain at the same time, NO TORTURE, and he was a song bird. The Man (used loosely) was and is a COWARD! I have no respect for him, his sons or the fained attempt at service. If he was a real "soldier" he would have been a foot soldier, not a kid burning ants with a magnifying glass. He was a terrible pilot and it cost him, that is all, NO HERO, just a sorry pilot who got dropped, and as soonas he was recovered, he cried "Admiral". He has sealed his records for GOOD reason. Kerry had nothing to hide and look at what "swift boating" did to him, McCain has, not a closet, but a warehouse full of skeletons and he knows it. Sir if you look you will find the truth about a man (lol) calling himself a "hero". It is an insult to people who actually did commit heroic acts, and selfless deeds.
My entire family, for generations has served this country, in every war we've ever fought, I do not come from a mere liberal "I HATE WAR" background, My son is still in Iraq fighting McBush's "WAR FOR OIL" while McCain's son has been and is home.

Hi HD, my dad did two tours in vietnam. My uncle was a POW for a year and is still suffering from nightmares. God Bless all of them even McCain. Though I do not agree with any of his policies and believe him to be a morally corrupt human being, my personal opinon, I would not wish that type of existence on anyone, friend or enemy.

I agree with you, HD. I come from a Navy family, and the fact that McCain graduated 894th out of a class of 899 cadets has always been a laughingstock among Navy insiders, where class rank controls your entire career. He flunked out of Annapoiis, and even with the Admirals in his family, he would have never been accepted as an officer if it hadn't been war time. We desperately needed warm bodies, so we took his sorry butt to Vietnam, and the rest is history.
The men in my family have also fought for the USA WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq, all of them Navy. My brother spent six years in Vietnam. I know what POW trauma looks and acts like. I honor the US military. But anyone who looks at McCain's service record has to admit that he is no war hero, even though his years as a POW are tragic. McCain himself wrote in his autobiography that he collaborated with the enemy. Collaborating with the enemy is TREASON. I don't hold this against him personally, Lord knows what any
