I need a dictionairy to read American news:
Dictator = leaders that challange the American empire by not doing what they are told
    International community = NATO
The West = countries that support american dominance
Democracy = countries that support US foreign policy
Pre-emptive wars = expanding the empire

I really love this sentence: "Moscow has blocked U.S. diplomatic efforts on Kosovo, Mideast peace, arms control, missile defense and Iran"
Diploatic effort on Kosovo= bomb Seriba for 78 days and illegally proclaim independence for Kosovo
Mideast peace =Arm Israel with nukes and give them green light to attack anyone, no punishment (biased?)
Missile defence = getting first strike capabilities and bringing war to space
Iran = Russia having a dialog with Iran (as opposed to US) and avoiding another Iraq

Yes, Russia is truly the enemy of freedom, democracy and peace. God bless America

When Bush was going thru his 1st term, I figured that he will never get reelected because the American people were highly educated, well informed and intelligent. Then he gets elected for a 2nd term. There goes my opinion of the American people, well, at least, of 51% of the American people.

Pilipino, he STOLE that 1st election. Then 9/11 happens, and the Repukes count on fear to get Georgie elected again. Well, we have Florida and Ohio to thank for the 2nd term. I wonder how many jobs were lost in Ohio in the last 4 years? Wat did people expect when they elected an oil man, and his VP, with his connections to many of the contractors in Iraq? Theres a long list, Iraq is about oil, and since those oil companies got thier drilling rights, Dubya can break out the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner. Bunch of liars. That list is long too. LIARS!!!!!

Putin is no friend to the US. Bush must feel like a real jerk after saying, "I looked into his eyes and I could see he was my friend". Hardy har har!!!! Yeah, well ur buddy Vladimir is supplying our NEXT victim, Iran with state of the art air-defense systems to shoot down US pilots. Face it, negotiation is going NOWHERE. If the US/Israeli's, don't strike thier nuclear sites soon, they will have a bomb, they will most likely try and mount a warhead on a missle. Wonder where they got that technology? Yes, our "friends" the Pakistanis. AQ Khan really upset the apple cart, and Iran minced no words when they spoke of thier intentions. It will take more than the IAF to wreck thier nuclear program, it will take a massive air-strike, involving more nations and warplanes. Who cares wat Putin says the day after? He helped them along the way. The Russians are re-arming. Germany is a no-show in A-stan, and I'll be damned if I protect them again. COWARDS. THANX GERMANY, FOR NOTHING.

Pushing the usual explanation that the new world leaders are against the "the gringo devil" doesn't cut it any more. You writers don't even dare to mention capitalism vs. socialism, you'd rather keep using dumb sound-bites. But realize this: people in Latin America understand it that way. Capitalism has failed, it has been in-humane; this is the time, this the moment for socialism.

I am saddened by the actions of the men and women in higher power at the moment in this country, the US. I find it outrageous that people in this country can be bought without their consent, sold for entertainment, and exploited, trafficked nonconsensually while someone else makes a big buck for it and the victim who is nonconsensual, is left with the blame so they can protect their money, with the real victim being left with nothing. What have we come to as a nation when the wrong people can get away with it, and we can't feel safe in our homes, at work, or anywhere because you have been violated by everyone.

Is this how the President thinks he is protecting our country, or is he just protecting his money? I find it difficult to swallow that no policeman, firefighter, doctor, or employer makes a stand to get it to stop, in fact they participate in making it continue, because they get paid handsomely to denounce what is going on. It is a sad day when you find out that the family who was supposed to intervene and love you, your ex-husband who was supposed to care about you, and all those who surround you have sold you off for their own monetary gain at your expense, try to keep you and force you into an unhappy relationship; it is blackmail, and no one is going to lift a finger for justice for you. I have truly learned from my country that "love hurts" in every way, American-style..........., and apparently we are just entertainment for the masses without our consent........skd500

Do you reckon that in totalitarian states people are afraid to speak ill of their leader and thus this "poll" is complete and utter BS ?

Thanks for shrubie and his cronies he has made democracy a joke. If you compare a Russia or China leader against the shrub, they all look the same. They do not care for rules and they think they are the ONLY ones that know what is best. Since that is the case, why would you want something you already have?

What if we tried "FACE OFF" AND SWICTH THEM; WHAT WOULD HAPPEN?

Bush does so poorly, and Putin does so well, in this poll for one reason - competence. Bush has none, Putin has some.

The type of government isn't the issue, the ability to govern is the issue. Bush couldn't govern in a democracy, a dictatorship, or a kindergarten classroom. Putin, however, governs quite will in a dictatorship, and might even manage to do so in a democracy.

    January 21, 2009 can't come soon enough.

I hope to God everyone remembers what a bad president both Bush's were and never elect another oilman president again. Just ike the windfall profits oil companies are making now, they dont care about what happens to people, how many they kill, how they crush families or how they are seen in the world. They just care about the big old dollar and sucking as much of it out of people as they can. Bush is the preiminent republican, he cant comprehend anything but himself, his bank account and the consulting fees he's going to make from big oil after he leaves office.

If there is any silver lining it is this: Bush can't speak well enough to earn a living at speaking engagements. And his credibility is zilch so how well can he really do as a consultant.

Once again onepoker demostrates why the world is feeling particularly anti-american by showing what a rudimentary grasp of world affairs, as well as reading comprehension he has. Hu Jintao polled well not only in China but all over the world, as mentioned clearly in the article. Moreover, the survey results were not weighed by population, so the larger Chinese population didn't push up his global status. People want to live in America because America is the world's richest country due to historical circumstances. That doesn't mean people support their foreign policies, or their view of the world. Nobody wants to be thrown in jail for saying or doing what they believe, but contrary to what some may believe that doesn't happen everyday in China or Russia, and most countries have laws that allow them to do so legally, if necessary (including the US). Having such laws may be somewhat morally repugnant but they exist mostly as riot control/counter-terrorism measures, and that flexibility will mostly be needed by nation states. The Chinese and Russian leaderships have made sure that their countries continues to grow, and do not stumble. They have also presented a more balanced and respectful view towards people in the world. Bush mostly appears to be a moron, and sounds foolish. There are easy answers to why the polls show what they show. Plese understand that 'freedom' means the opportunity to do as you please, and this means a whole lot more than the ability to vote. Economic well-being is a crucial component of freedom. Safety is a cruicial component of freedom. If you hold a minority view, a democracy gives you no more freedom than an autocracy. Most people are far less interested in governmental issues than with personal constraints.

maybe if Chinese citizens weren't thrown in jail for criticizing the government Hu wouldn't of done so hot. If the communist governments had to deal with the same level of criticism democracys have to deal with the whole outlook would change. For example do you think air polution might get a few negative bloggers in China We Americans get mad at Exxon when they have an accident while in China the factories just poor pollutants into the atmosphere.. In the US our oil companies can't drill because it might inconvenience a polar bear in Siberia they aren't quite so restricted. In America Bill Gates donates millions of dollars to help wipe out disease in Africa.with little fan fair. In China all the credit for good works goes to the communitst party. Our newspaper headlines read-Lame duck president vows to continue losing war effort. In china the Headline reads- our noble leader welcomes the world to China to celebrate the Olympic Games.

Ask those same poll takers where they would prefer to live and then you will get a true answer of world opinion.

I believe people are sick and tired on self centered bandwagons, and the tendancy to jump on anything citing their favorite pile of Bull as a shining example of why something happened. People need and want strong leadership, not yes men who pandy to popularist opinion. Its always the same, as soon as someone surfaces who stands up to be counted without consulting their Spin Doctor first, they shoot up in the ratings. By in large the Western populace is far to self centered and shallow thinkers, we get what we voted for - shallow thinkers as leaders.

However, since Senator Clinton is not going to be a global leader anytime soon, it is a waste of time to dwell on what she might have done. Obama wil be the one to make the real change,

  • Posted By: rfamily089@sbcglobal.net @ 06/16/2008 11:17:05 AM

Senator Clinton would've been the global leader America needs in response to world opinion, she would've shown the world a real change, and different side of America 's thinking (regarding the economy, global climate, trade, foreign policy).
