Sure beats the hell out of King George. We took care of that a long time ago. George of England. Now it's finally time for George of Bush to peacefully exit stage left. Long live the king.

Looking inside any government really is like going to see how sausage is made. Not a pretty picture. Guess it's time to change brands of sausage. Best we ever get.

I need to visit Washington, D.C. one day. They say that it has loads of good museums and that you can see inside the halls of government where our laws are made. But then, there are also warnings of problems of safety on the sidewalks from citizens who live there. I would really like to hear a promise from a candidate that would make it safe for an old man to walk on the streets there. Why not, while you are making promises?

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/20/2008 11:29:35 AM

I never called the statements that Cheney made about Iraqis greeting the soldiers in Baghdad with flowers promises. They were statements of what he thought would happen. The insiders in Iraq didn't think much of the flowers. Now the Iraqi Democratic Government are all insiders. Inside the Green Zone. Not safe on the streets of Baghdad. This is the democracy that we have given them. Or shoved it down their throats, whichever you believe. Well, actually, our government officials are said not to be safe on the streets of Washington, D.C., either. Maybe we have, after all, given Iraq out style of democracy. I yield to the opposition.

That's it. Network. Shouted it from the second story window if I remember. What a change the internet has brought. Now we shout through our fingers, so to speak, conversing with strangers we will never meet. Mind to mind, I guess. Thanks, No 000000....

As in that movie of some years ago, the name of which escapes me, "we are mad as hell and we are not going to put up with it any more". That's the change now afoot. Insiders beware.

    • Posted By: NO OOOOOOOOO @ 06/20/2008 3:31:51 AM

Were you thinking of Network from 1976?

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/19/2008 10:17:48 PM

You can call them promises, but they really are statements of what is wrong with what we have and what we ought to do as soon as it can be arranged within the tools available in government. It's done by voting, then working to get it done. Hopefully, there is still a press to investigate and report on the progress. The people who are charged to carry it out are on the inside, of course. We get lucky when the right ones are chosen to perform. Time will tell the tale.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 06/19/2008 10:12:04 PM

There are those who don't vote, using the excuse that it doesn't matter what you do, the insiders are going to take control of the government and do what they want whether you vote or not. There is a little bit of truth in most everything when it comes to politics, I guess. But, there are times when the populace rises up and votes anyway. The situation created in the past eight years by the insiders has somehow found a way to irritate even the most reluctant voters. Whatever it was that they did, name your favorite, I frequently hear a low rumble amongst those I know who used to not vote very seriously, as when a large dog tries to let you know without being too conspicuous that you'd better keep the distance from him that you have now. Many of these folk are going to vote for these promises to change things from what they are now, whether it gets done or not. They are willing to take a chance that if they do it often enough, the insiders will get the message. It will probably be slow, but it is a very big ship we are turning here and it takes a while for the rudder to catch. You can screw up only so bad before citizens just can't stand it any more.

Can Obama follow through on his promises?

Well that depends on whether you are talking about his promises to the voters or his promises to those who have funded his campaign, the pay to play politics he learned in Chicago. I'd be he can follow through on the promises to the special interests behind him, but he can't do everything he's promised in his campaign. Not enough revenue in the current taxes, too much debt to be inherited, not enough consensus or support for a specific plan, no way to get out of Iraq safely as fast as he has promised.

Obama isn't change - he's more of the same old same old politics without the experience to follow through.

It's good thing McCain has no lobbiests in his campaign (oh wait, he does)...and doesn't pander to neo-con nazis .(oh wait, he does).....doesn't vote against bills he proposed when the winds change(oh wait, he did)... ...or oppose an improved quality of life for returning vets because then they might want to get on with their lives (oh wait, he did)...then his party members might desperate and make up lies for the whisper mill. For all you idiot trogs who never ask where information comes from. Obama is not a muslim! Did cocaine briefly in high school (i'm sure none of you ever made any mistakes when you were younger), his wife never said "whitey", is not soft on crime (was endorsed by the fraternal order of police men in Illinois), is not the most liberal in senate history or a socialist (he's actually against over regulation and for tax breaks for companies that keep clean and keep jobs here), is not an elitest (McCain is 3rd generation Naval Academyand married into money; this is very elite, probably rarley went to church (being a legislator and all), can probably change alot (or at least more than McCain), and would school you on the court.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 9:42:45 PM

Wrong about the briefly in high school, Obama himself refers to "those years" when talking about his use of cocaine.

I won't vote for a man who admits years of cocaine use. He obviously has addiction problems as he has already tried and failed to quit smoking several times.

        • Posted By: WhenStarsTurnBlue @ 06/19/2008 3:46:57 AM

I'm always surprised his cocaine use isn't made into a bigger deal. Just 16 years ago, Clinton admitting he used pot but "did not inhale" was such a contraversy. Cocaine is a much more serious drug.

          • Posted By: NO OOOOOOOOO @ 06/19/2008 5:32:03 AM

This Larry Sinclair thing would have been made a HUGE DEAL had it been on Hillary Clinton's head...no matter HOW LITTLE truth there was to it...it would have been all over the news on the day of the press conference...it would have been the biggest piece of news for the day...he!!, for the month/year/decade! I think, however, true or not, this will come back to haunt him at some point...let's just hope it's BEFORE the election! Of course, for the converted, it wouldn't matter even if it were true...they would still not see that it goes to character, as they have failed to see the other liaisons have gone to character and poor judgment. Is this who we really want for POTUS? I think not.

            • Posted By: Ezana @ 06/19/2008 3:11:18 PM

Sinclair is a convicted felon, failed a polygraph, has no evidence, and has a history of trying (unsuccessfully) to shake down public figures, his lawyer has been suspended from the Florida bar. If that story gets any air than there is no hope for America. I know the republicans are hoping for another Lewinsky or flowers but nothing about this holds any water! sad.

So true, When....NOTHING Obama is doing or has done is being made a big deal, no matter how many question marks it puts above his head...why is that???

        • Posted By: Ezana @ 06/19/2008 3:03:12 PM

I read his biography nowhere does it say he used cocaine for years (he tried it a couple of times in highschool. Nice leap from that to he is an addict. By that standard about 80 percent of Americans are junkies. Speaking of a double standard i'm trying to remember how big a deal was made of Bush's cocaine use AS AN ADULT. Or how Bush'a silver spoon elitism was some how transformed into; "he's just a good old boy!"

I agree that Obama will be unable to accomplish all his goals once he is elected. First, he has to deal with the state of the economy and how to get it moving in a positive direction. Then he can begin to tackle getting out of Iraq, trying to get a reasonable tax program through congress that will not do more harm to the poor and middle class, start to rein in wasteful spending by congress and start the process of providing more health care to the poor, and shoring up the entitlement programs already established. He will not be able to do all of this in one term and he will disappoint many people but if he continues to speak positively to the American people and is honest about what he can get done, that will be a big improvement. The main thing he will need to do is earn the confidence of the American people that he is working hard every day to help them and he is aware of how they live each day. Being in the bubble of the White House is very isolating and it is easy to lose touch with reality in that environment. A major problem will be listening to a wide range of views and keeping an open mind on how to solve major problems. Giving one of his stirring speeches a couple times a year will bring encouragement because at least he can speak intelligently and does not condescend to the average Joe or Jane. And, he can pronounce NUCLEAR correctly.

    • Posted By: whala @ 06/19/2008 9:55:55 AM

What makes you think Obama can deal with the economy? His party's economic policies are the ones that got us so screwed up in the first place. It's great that he can pronounce NUCLEAR. What a waste of a talent, because he won't ever use it to build a facility to help with the energy problem his environmentalist buddies have caused.

  • Posted By: whala @ 06/19/2008 9:39:22 AM

What change? Obama already represents Washington as it stands now. Washington is already far left leaning, and continuing to head that direction. So for Obama to change Washington's direction would be to move it back to the right? Ya, that's gonna happen.

  • Posted By: whala @ 06/19/2008 9:24:02 AM

The fact that Obama continually fills the heads of naive Americans with unrealistic promises of change, and fills their hearts with false hope is exactly why we should realize this man can't be taken at face value. Wake up America, and stop watching the hypnosis machine.

And it was Obama who was soft on crime when he was in the Illinois legislature, voting against increased penalties for gang related crimes. In Chicago that doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 10:00:36 PM

Obama was raised by his grandparents, his grandmother was a bank Vice President, not poor. He went to an elite private school and then to elite colleges and law school. McCain had to earn his place at the Naval Academy and served his country in the military. Obama acts as though people who rely on their faith to carry them through hard times are fools who don't know how to vote in their own interests.

        Who is the elitist? Obama.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 9:57:52 PM

Good thing Obama didn't request millions in earmarks for the hospital that gave his wife Michelle a big raise....oh wait, he did.

And Obama says in his own book that he did cocaine for "years", not "briefly", called Rev. Wright his "spiritual father" and does have the most liberal voting record in the Senate, and he is for more regulation via the NLRB and OSHA and other federal agencies, as indicated by his speech to the American Association of Manufacturers -- get your facts straight.

This article is missing the main issue. In order for changes in our country to be made, people have to want change. What Obama provides is just that...hope. I do not believe that Americans truly think that Obama can come in and change our political landscape in his first term, but what he can do is change the mindset so that hopefully future presidents can build upon.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 6:30:12 PM

No one really wants change, they want security in what they have and in what they can expect.

what exactly is it that you think Obama will change? What exactly is it we are supposed to hope for?

      • Posted By: Ezana @ 06/18/2008 7:22:19 PM

An increase in real wages (what you make compared to the cost of living)
An end to a war that had nothing to do with Bin Laden (Rumsfeld fired all kinds of experienced military people in order push that agenda. Gutted the pentagon upper management because they opposed that agenda).
Tax breaks for companies that stay in the US.
Penalties for those that export jobs!
Hope, that if you work full time and are competant you can retire at a reasonable age (I know the republican machine wants you to belive that if you're in a tight spot it means you screwed up somewhere along the line, but that's just not true anymore).

        • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 9:52:55 PM

How is he going to increase real wages? The programs he proposes will cost so much that everyone will be paying more in taxes, not just the rich.

Obama's plan to withdraw has the same timetable as McCain's -- beginning in 2013, not 2009. Can't be done safely in 2009, and the surge has actually had a beneficial impact on the daily lives of the Iraqis. It is vital that we establish the foundation for a stable peaceful society before we leave, or Iraq will become a cradle for future terrorists.

More tax breaks, and would you hobble companies based in America in the global market? How are they going to continue in business if others can sell the same products at a lower price?

What do you think is a reasonable age, fifty?????? Sounds like a youngster who thinks life should be easy people should be paid well just for showing up, and real work is for fools.

Well I guess its ok if he hires corrupt politicians to help him if its in all of our best interests. Take another sip of the Kool-aid Evan thomas. The reason he can't change Washington isn't because the public won't let him hire the thugs that are necessary to work his way past years of corruption. It is because he has no idea of what to change or how to change it. There are good people in Washington and there are good people in business if he wanted to sit down and talk with someone who knows a little bit about overcomming corruption he should meet with Warren Buffet. Warren in addition to being a cut throat capitalist has always somehow managed to avoid corruption and has been called in on more than one occasion to rescue companies that have strayed to the dark side. Of course I think my candidate John McCain would benefit from a lunch with the oracle of Omaha also but as Warren leans a little to the left politically I think Obama would have an easier time getting a lunch date.

Obamas only experience is with politico's he has never held a significant job outside of politics and that is why he constantly falls into the trap of political connections that have a lot of baggage. He comes from the Chicago Political Machine and if he thinks he is going to impose that kind of heavy handed control on Washington he is sadly mistaken. Washington is controlled by people who for the most part want to do whats right for their constituents. In liberal terms doing whats right means getting the biggest slice of the pie thats why we see the huge earmarks for Hillary and for Obama they felt getting the most money for their states was the best they could do for their people. On the other side you have McCain who took no earmarks for Arizonans because he felt it was in their interest to lower government expenses as much as possible (not to mention create a conservative image from an otherwise left leaning candidate) Yes there is corruption but no more so than in any other government and probably less than most.

Obama is a decent man but he has shown some serious lack of judgement in the past few months. Bad judgement leads to bad government. No matter how hard he calls for change if he doesn't provide something better we will end up in chaos. So far what we have seen is that he reaches out to the established democrat power structure and has so far failed to introduce any meaningful change in the way day to day business is run.

    McCain 08

    • Posted By: Ezana @ 06/18/2008 7:15:04 PM

I used to like McCain but this is what worries me about him is he is not the same guy who ran in 2000. I think he learned the wrong lessens from that experience. He never called Rove and Bush on their race baiting in South Carolina, he's surrounded himself with the same people who railroaded him and by default excused their tactics! It REALLY bothers me that he opposed the new GI bill. I know for a fact he's pissed off alot military people to me. It seems like he's selling his ideals and his soul in order to get into office.

      • Posted By: WhenStarsTurnBlue @ 06/18/2008 7:45:35 PM

McCain and the pentagon opposed it because it provided incentives for servicemen to leave the military. We're already in danger of over-worked troops and recruitment is down. McCain is sponsoring his own GI Bill changes that would have greater rewards for longer service.

So they're not working hard enough/long enough now? So instead those those overworked troops should stay in for their 5th and 6th tour instead of having a life after they've gone WAAAAAAAAAAY beyond what any reasonable human being would call serving their country. Or maybe they should go work for the contractors who are abusing cost plus policies and help bleed the coffers dry to pay for an education (it'll cost a little more because the whole private contractor practice of torching a truck when it has a flat tire, but at least we'll be making the vice president rich in the process).

Watch this documentary and tell me we can't afford to send these vets to college:

          • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 9:47:32 PM

Can we afford that and afford to give every college student (or their parents) a tax credit if they go work at some do nothing "public works" job for 100 hours? That's only six weeks, what kind of job could anyone be trained to do in that time, what operation could stand that kind of turnover?

I'm all for offering our military service men and women college as a benefit for service, except maybe for the felons who took military service in order to get out of jail early, but I tend to agree that it should not offer an incentive for them to quit. We need those who are willing to serve to stay as long as we can get them to stay. Our military has never been so low, what with all the on the job training the military used to offer being contacted out to corrupt firms like Blackwater.

I enjoyed reading this post. It touches on a lot of points that worry me about Obama. He says he's about change, but from his voting record and his actions on the trail, he seems to constantly need the advice and approval of Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, et all. He doesn't seem like a leader, more of someone chosen to fit a role.

America has ALREADY voted for change! They were going show Bush in 2006! And we sure got CHANGE!

    Before Democrats controlled Congress:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high.

    2) Regular unleaded gasoline was $2.19 a gallon.

    3) Unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet.

    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.00 a gallon.

    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase).

    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses).

    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars; 1% of American homes are now in foreclosure.

    6) Oil was 63 dollars a barrel the day before the newest congress convened. It closed last Friday at 126 dollars a barrel. That is doubled for those with fuzzy math.

    7) Economic Growth for the 4th quarter of 2006 in GDP was 3.5 percent.

    8)1st Quarter 2008 0.6 percent.

Remember it's Congress that makes laws, not the President. The President has to work with what is handed to the Administration.

So which legislature that Congress enacted actually had that effect?
It might have more to do with 6 years of failed White House policies, a war in Iraq, absolutely no oversight regarding unethical lending practices, paying billions of dollars (tax payer's money) to contractors like Haliburton who in turn didn't do anything other than show us the finger, and supporting big oil companies with subsidies like they really need it. Did they invest it? No. Besides that if Congress induces a law that King George does not like, he vetoes it. That is realism.

      • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 06/18/2008 7:37:35 PM

The worst act of Congress was the NAFTA bill (HR 3450 11/20/1993). It was written by a liberal Democrat, Dan Rostenkowski - Democrat of Illinois. It was voted into law by 41% Democrats - the liberal ones, and 75% Republicans. Only moderate Democrats - then 59%, and moderate Republicans.

This economy did not go down the drain overnight, nor in the 7 years of the GW administration. This has been an ongoing process of activity and INACTIVITY by primarily a Democratic liberal Congress with their cohort Presidents. Although the process started in 1921, the 70's brought around the most change. Nixon and Kissinger opended trade with China. (Democratic Congress)

Under Carter and the Democratic liberal Congress, NOTHING went well. Under both Carter and Reagan and the Democratic liberal controlled Congress, the Windfall profits act of 1981 levied a tax on the oil companies, prices went up. Investment Tax Credit (a small business staple) was phased out and eliminated. Mom's and Pop's started to close their doors.

Under Reagan and the Democratic liberal Congress, not once was the Sherman Anti-trust act enforced. Manufacturers started their exodus to Mexico with tax incentives. Mergers were allowed not only horizontally but also vertically. Also, all government grants for ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES ended abruptly. This included the oil shale research.

Under G WH Bush, and the Democratic liberal Congress, the recession was official. Only the Iraqi war brought the usual temporary economic stimulus.

Under Clinton and the Democratic liberal Congress, the free trade agreements flew through the Houses and the White House. US Manufacturing was all but eliminated with the liberals' blessing. The only concern of the liberals was whether fair labor acts were enacted in those countries.

Under GW, nothing but the same. Under the neo-con Republican Congress, massive pork spending went to the other side for a change. Under the Democratic liberal Congress, free trade agreement still fly through. Still no manufacturing. Still high (er.... higher) gas prices. Still the same old same old.

Isn't it time to vote out ALL LIBERAL DEMOCRATS AND NEO-CON REPUBLICANS?? WAKE UP AMERICAN BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

ASK GOOD OLE MRS NANCY THE DEMOCRAT LEADER WHY IS THIER SO MUCH PORK COMMING FROM BOTH SIDES BET YOU WON'T ANSWER THAT HUH ?? THE BOTTOM LINE IS WHEN ITS ALL REPUBS IT WORKS WHAN ITS ALL DEMS IT WORKS WHEN ITS SPLIT THEN NOTHING WORKS !!!!

        • Posted By: yvoennsche @ 06/18/2008 4:46:10 PM

You don't have to use all upper case to make a point more valid. I agree that there is always pork from both sides, but you made the point that it is the fault of a democratic congress alone that has led to the current economic problems and I simply pointed out all the things the White House has done or not done. Wait, take that back, I pointed out a few things they screwed up.

          • Posted By: Ezana @ 06/18/2008 6:51:52 PM

willnot you have no factual evidence to back up that claim. You can't state a single step that congress took that led to the prices going up. Your bottom line has nothing to support it. You say the names of Democrats with as much bile as you want but you're still full of it.

Obama is from Chicago, the same place that gave us Al Capone and the Daly's. He is a US senator, where behaviors like broker, finagle, deal and compromise are mandatory. He isn't from small good ol' boy places like Arkansas or Georgia, where Clinton and Carter where governors.

Chicago politics are rough and tumble - only NY City or Louisiana politics are tougher. Obama is pragmatic, a realist, and a survivor. He knows exactly how Washington works - it's all about the deal you can make, the clout you can promise, and the losses you can threaten.

If anyone can broker some changes, it is a man who has survived Chicago politics, a man who has survived the Clinton onslaught, and a man who worked in the senate.

He gets it, both what the American public needs to hear, in order to get elected, and how Washington works in order to get something done.

He is the best (and perhaps the worst) of both worlds - an idealist who lives in the gutter. a cynic who understands hope.

    There's no disconnect.

    Don't underestimate him.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 6:45:34 PM

So, are you suggesting that pay to play politics like they have in chicago would be better than what we have in DC now?

    • Posted By: barbara474 @ 06/17/2008 3:39:18 PM

I believe you meant Daley not Daly. And Al Capone was born in Brooklyn, he came to Chicago, he is not from there, whatever point you are trying to make. One suggestion...more research and less opinion makes for a more viable argument when trying to persuade others to your perspective.

The writer says, "There is a disconnect here, and I don't see what's going to change it. "

What can change it is clear: It would be people who, unlike this writer, are possessed of professional ethics & integrity, and can do their job of reporting without spinning in favor of the candidate of their own political persuasion. It would be journalists that don't accept "low expectations" in politicians as the norm, and will hold ANY politician accountable, not just those of the "other" party.

This country is greatly harmed by 'journalists' that wink at honesty, integrity, and ethics because it fits their own politics. This writer needs to go have a long, thoughtful look in a mirror... and figure out just who he is.

      Agreed! Emphatically!

I agree too. And I saw shots of the audience and it didn't look predominantly African American to me. Even if it was, how often did you see a reporter note that Hillary's audiences were predominantly white (which they definitely were). Maybe it'll have to be the second time around for us to stop thinking in those terms.

By the way, I notice that Obama is always a gentleman where Hillary is concerned even though I don't think he should be. In respose to booing at the Gore rally, he said she should be respected even though she didn't say the same to her supporters last Saturday when some of them booed. Of course, that speech was still more about her than about the party or Obama. She needs to get down on her knees and be thankful she was running against such a gentleman because after the way she behaved campaigning, she doesn't deserve the respect. And she does NOT have mine!

Such an effective way to convince those who support her to vote for him.

I won't vote for a man who admitted using cocaine for years.

Sunshine, it is ignorance. That's the seed of their fear.

              Pia,yes, ignorance!

Barack Obama is a DOER and will deliver on his promises, as best he is able. He does have the UNIQUE ability to bring alot of people afrom ALL walks of life together, and all parties as well, so that is a major part of what enables him to create change. As the comment made by someone called "schlang"; I'm just one of millions of non-AA people, who believe in this gifted and intelligent PERSON. He will be our next President. Please work on your prejudices and racism and ask wherein your heart such hatred comes from. We have a great opportunity here to overcome much discrimination in this country and in this world.

      what has he EVER done?

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 06/18/2008 6:36:53 PM

He missed half of the VA committee meetings in the 109th Congress and never held a meeting of the committee he headed up. He only puts his name on bills others did the footwork on, just like he did in the Illinois legislature with the support and assistance of pay to play Emil Jones Jr. Chris Dodd even called him on this.

Thank you for posting such an informative piece.

What has he ever done? Have you bothered to check?

        The Lugar-Obama Cooperative Threat Reduction.
Introduced by Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Dick Lugar and Sen. Tom Coburn. First introduced in November 2005 and enacted in 2007, this bill expanded upon the successful Nunn-Lugar threat reduction, which helped secure weapons of mass destruction and related infrastructure in former Soviet Union states. Lugar-Obama expanded this nonproliferation program to conventional weapons -- including shoulder-fired rockets and land mines.

Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006
This act of Congress, introduced by Senators Obama and Coburn, required the full disclosure of all entities or organizations receiving federal funds in FY2007. The act passed into law and was signed by President Bush. The act had 43 cosponsors, including John McCain. The act created a web site which provides citizens with information about government-funded programs.

Honest Leadership and Open Government Act
In the first month of the 110th Congress, Obama worked with Sen. Russ Feingold to pass this law, which amends and strengthens the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995. Specificially, the law requires public disclosure of lobbying activity and funding, places more restrictions on gifts for members of Congress and their staff, and provides for mandatory disclosure of earmarks in expenditure bills.

The Obama-McCain Climate Change Reduction Bill
The Obama-McCain bill, which is co-sponsored by Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., would cut emissions by two-thirds by 2050.

Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007
Introduced by Obama, this binding act would stop the planned troop increase of 21,500 in Iraq, and would also begin a phased redeployment of troops from Iraq with the goal of removing all combat forces by March 31, 2008.

Amendments to the 2008 Defense Authorization Bill
Obama worked with Sen. Kit Bond to limit, through this bill, the Pentagon???s use of personality disorder discharges in the FY 2008 Defense Authorization bill. This provision would add additional safeguards to discharge procedures and require a thorough review by the Government Accountability Office. This followed news reports that the Pentagon inappropriately used these procedures to discharge service members with service-connected psychological injuries.

The Comprehensive Nuclear Threat Reduction provision
Working with Sen. Hagel and Rep. Adam Schiff, Obama authored this provision, which would require the president to develop a comprehensive plan for ensuring that all nuclear weapons and weapons-usable material at vulnerable sites around the world are secure by 2012 from the threats that terrorists have shown they can pose. A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

He has had many years to change Chicago. What happened? He got millions of dollars for his friend Rezko to build slums. Obama just talks about change because he knew it would appeal to people and those that are dumb inough to fall for it and vote for him. He has no intention of changing anything.

If people had an ounce of brains they would be able to see through his TALK and look at what he has NOT done in his life.

      • Posted By: sunshineannmarie @ 06/18/2008 10:12:55 AM

Where is your proof that this change will not happen? What are you really afraid of.

        • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/18/2008 11:16:57 AM

Bigger question is, where is the proof that it will?

            NoisyNotes, His campaign!!
Even the blind can see that!

Obama is a gifted orator and politician

  • Posted By: Thevail @ 06/18/2008 4:51:44 AM

I believe that any politician isgoing to need all the firepower that they can get in order to help fix this mess our country is in.

I also think that he HAS already CHANGED politics.

He has changed the entire financing model for politicians at the national level.

It's certainly more CHANGE than anyone else has managed in 50 years.

yes, multimillionaire bundlers that are not limited and can twist arms behind doors are going to replace PAC's which are limited to giving only $5000 and have to report all their donors.

And you think this is an improvement?

      I don't
