Why won't anything change? Because of the people. You laugh? Consider this: Bill Clinton made pardons at the end of his second term that outraged common decency, in addition to being involved in numerous scandals during his presidency. Has that hurt his popularity? On the contrary. He's still lionized by a large segment of the voting public. Unless and until we can eliminate the "moron factor" among the electorate, the notion of "holding them accountable" will have no meaning.

All that is required of any of us is that we give our best. The way to eat and Elephant in Washington is one bite at a time. I believe that Senator Obama and his team will indeed begin to make some significant changes in Washington and the way business is done. No! It will not happen over night. But as we have all seen by the floods, flowing water with enough power can wear down the mighty rock. Obama 08.

With all due respect, I don't think so.

It is called Accountability. Obama will be held accountable for all that he promises, just like Clinton or McCain. If he cant' deliver, he'd better not make the promise... just like Clinton or McCain.

The development and implementation of the NEW economic paradigm, the "Integration of Labor-sm" will transform both Washington and more significantly, the nation, in the reverse order.

If anything happens and you get a flood of raunchy emails you have two options. Your carrier can give you an new address on-the-fly and port all validated email addressed emails to your new box. Or you can go through the laborious, but sometimes satisfying, process of reporting the people who send the said rauncy stuff to you. I say this as a warning to those with such proclivities.

I liked this article regarding promises of "change and hope" by Obama, how will he achieve this when anytime people (millions and millions of people) question his judgement he backs down.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/17/2008 3:29:59 PM

There are legitimate concerns many people have with Obama, and the tone of this article would seem to welcome differening opinions and an opportunity to express concerns.

      • Posted By: barbara474 @ 06/17/2008 3:47:07 PM

Absolutely! And the best foot forward any responsible person debating the pros and cons of any candidate can have is a clear, well stated, exhaustively researched argument. Not all minutia and he said, she said.
I applaud the process, though I reserve the right to make suggestions.

Of course you would like this article. It reinforces your do-nothing-and-you-can-be-blamed-for-nothing attitude. We have had far too much of NOTHING.

Also, it is unwise to post your email address. There are nuts out there.

Youtube have a new vidoe. It's called I'm voting Republican. I think people should check out this video.

I'll assume that you've found this page searching for information on Larry Sinclair and his allegations.

There is a lot of speculation and opinion online. What follows, though, are a couple of uncontested facts:

Mr. Sinclair has not provided the public with a single bit of evidence.
There are highly motivated people who are passionate about influencing this election. Some of them are unethical.
Mr. Sinclair's story has already earned him $10,000. That money is being paid to him by Dan Parisi, an internet entrepreneur who, according to press accounts, built his fortune in the online pornography industry.

There really isn't a whole lot more than that.

So engage in the political process - and bring a critical eye to everything the candidates, the pundits, and the average citizen have to say. Invest at least as much in choosing your candidates as you would buying a new TV.

And vote as if your life depends on it ??? because it does.

This is the truth about Larry Sinclair!

    • Posted By: GregAugustaGA @ 06/17/2008 3:07:13 PM

Nobody buys this crap from the likes of Sinclair. Why are you so up in arms about this? This article has nothing to do with that mess.

      • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/17/2008 3:10:07 PM

It's people like you who keep bringing up Larry Sinclair.

        • Posted By: GregAugustaGA @ 06/17/2008 3:11:20 PM

I had to do a google search to see who he is.

          • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/17/2008 3:13:30 PM

Then you know tomorrow he is having a press conference. All the Obama haters swear that this will bring him down.

  • Posted By: barbara474 @ 06/17/2008 1:47:23 PM

By the by, if Thomas was truly the committed journalist he postures, then he would have 'outed' by name these insiders. That would have been a reason for this article. Instead what we got was more of the 'you should listen to us because we KNOW and you don't---therefore OUR opinion matters' .
Really??? More than the vast majority of Americans??? How utterly arrogant and equally unrealistic. You cast your votes and we will cast ours and let's see how the raw numbers add up.

Sounds like you are an Obama hater Barbara.

Not at all. Not sure how you could get that out of my commentary. How old are you?

I read your second comment below. I do apologize.

Though it is true that I support Obama in his bid to represent the American Public, I think that the largest gain to come out of this election, from a historical perspective, is the passionate involvement of ALL Americans in this hallowed process. Yeah, US!

I, too, am greatly disturbed by the tenor of this article. It seems the author, under the guise of being a 'realist', is saying that if Obama (and now McCain's mee too) can't change all of the items on the laundry list, then HE, and by association WE, should not try. And all of this is because the 'insiders' who TRULY KNOW what is going on in Washington have spoken. Spare me from self proclaimed and self serving 'authorities' who would be better off reminded that Wasington is not the world and they, however 'insidey' they believe themselves to be, are not the voice of the vast majority of Americans, Independant, Republican and Democrat. Author should change his name to Eyore Thomas.

Washington is not the end all and be all, but congress is a legitimate branch of government. Our next president will have to win back the respect of Congress since our current president doesn't respect anyone but himself. A president can not go it alone. Strong working relationships with congress are cultivated over time.

      • Posted By: barbara474 @ 06/17/2008 1:54:45 PM

And fair game for those of us who will continue to watch them like a hawk. By the by, Obama, for example of a next possible president said that WE (the American Public) not HE, will be the harbinger of change.--I know I have to explain this to you because your words betray you as one who believes that 'insiders' still run the show. News and Notes??? Whose?

I see that nobody wants to talk about real issues. You guys have no substance. I will be here to shoot you down if you try and use negative attacks on Obama. I am here to spread the truth. Nothing more or less. Just the truth.

"There is no job that is America's God-given right anymore," Fiorina commented in a recent speech in Washington. Not the most sensitive comment to make in light of the number of unemployed Americans suffering these days. This Marie Antoinette-inspired remark makes me wonder if HP hasn't already offshored its public relations department.

Fiorina's group would prefer to have us believe the mindless global economy is to blame for this affront to the millions laid off in the name of improved productivity and higher corporate profits. Or that the problem is America's inability to keep up.

LILLY LEDBETTER FAIR PAY ACT OF 2007--MOTION TO PROCEED--Resumed -- (Senate - April 23, 2008)

    BREAK IN TRANSCRIPT

Mr. OBAMA. Madam President, today too many women are still earning less than men for doing the same work, making it harder not just for those women but for the families they help support to make ends meet. It is harder for single moms to climb out of poverty, harder for elderly women to afford their retirement. That kind of pay discrimination is wrong and has no place in the United States of America.

This evening, we have a chance to do something about it. Passing this bill is an important step in closing the pay gap, something I helped to do in Illinois and something I have fought to do since I arrived in the Senate. I have cosponsored legislation to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work and to require employers to disclose their pay scales for various kinds of jobs. It is this information which will allow women to determine whether they are being discriminated against, information they often lack now.

In addition to passing this bill, we need to strengthen enforcement of existing laws. In the end, closing the pay gap is essential, but it is not going to be enough to make sure that women and girls have an equal shot at the American dream, which is why we are also going to have to work on issues such as sick leave and prohibiting discrimination against caregivers. If you work hard and do a good job, you should be rewarded, no matter what you look like, where you come from, or what gender you are. That is what this bill is about. That is why I am supporting this legislation and urge my colleagues to do the same.

    I yield the floor.

Now, what do you have to say now. This shows how Obama supports women rights and approve most women programs. McCain wants to remove most women program.

another phony site mars. Why don't you talk about Clayton Williams and his racist, sexist comments. Lets talk about McCain not returning the 300,000 dollars.
