Planning to drill today will lower gas prices immediately so long as it's a real plan that will be implemented. Since the Oil prices we see are not the actual Oil cost, but are rather the cost of Oil FUTURES, planning to drill today will offer immediate relief in gas prices-even though we will not actually see the Oil for several years. Couple that with investing in future technology to harvest cleaner and safer energy sources, and you have a responsible course of action.

Obama's plan to innovate our way out of this situation is about as responsible as quitting your current job today because someone promised you a better job that starts 10 years from now.

Not only is he irresponsible in his policies, but he doesn't think Americans have the ability to be responsible either. His government sponsored safety net propositions are proof of that. The problem is that the more you prop people up, the less willing they are to actually work, and you end up in that happy place called communism.

McCain's plans shows long term promise of lowering energy prices. Obama's shows only the short term promise of getting him elected by hoodwinking the American electorate. More drilling options equals greater choice for oil companies attempting to recover crude oil at the lowest possible cost to the consumer. Spin it any way you like.

McCain's plans shows a long term, very realistic plan. Obama's opposition shows only short term political gains.

Oil companies hold THOUSANDS of drilling permits they are not exploiting. The House Committee on Natural Resources estimates that we could nearly double US oil production if they drilled in areas where they already have permits.

The reason they don't is because there is so much regulation involved in getting the stupid permit, that the companies do not have sufficient time to drill before their lease runs out in order to justify the cost of drilling the well. They are allowed 10 year leases on the land, and it now takes 7 of those 10 years to get a permit to drill. Get rid of the over regulation, and they'll use that land.

If our farmers and truckers do NOT get cheaper fuel soon, there WILL be an immediate food shortage.

Talk all you want about research into alternative fuels. Talk all you want about a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Talk all you want about how OPEC should be illegal. Talk all you want about how bio-fuels with corn SHOULD NOT be used. TALK TALK TALK - just like Congress. All talk and no action.

In the 80's, funding for research into alternative fuels were stopped - under a Democratic Congress.

As long as everyone just TALKS and no one TAKES ACTION, we WILL have a FOOD SHORTAGE, AND HOUSING CRISIS, A HEALTH CRISIS.

We don't need terrorists to destroy our country. Our LIBERALS and NEO-CONS have been doing just fine FOR DECADES.

OBAMA and his CFR backers will only speed up our country's demise. We will become the North American Union within 4 years.

McCain will slow down the CFR's process. But, it will buy us time to clean out our government.

WE MUST START WITH THIS YEAR'S ELECTION.
VOTE OUT ALL LIBERALS AND NEO-CONS.
TAKE BACK AND KEEP AMERICA THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

The oil crisis is bad, but there are more important things going on right now. Like deciding who's going to lead this country into 2010!

Simple truth -- no spin -- don't dril -pay high gas prices

  • Posted By: soundmiami @ 06/20/2008 8:20:28 AM

Oil dependency is bad, foreign oil dependency is a disaster.

Short term, tax the cr*p out of gas which reduces consumption (but is an ecomony killer) use the billions in revenue to subsidize alternative energy systems or public transportation, which is practically non-existent here. (public works and private sector subsidies are tried and true ecomony boosters)

I hear new logging techniques have make harvesting the rain forest more productive too.

Oil and war, war and oil. Environmental destruction. Endless greed. US corporations getting tax breaks while shipping jobs overseas to countries that have no environmental protection laws, no workers' rights, no human rights. Countries where people are factory slaves and the air is so polluted you can hardly breathe. US military violating the Geneva convention, torturing prisoners. US government imprisoning people without charging them with any crimes, and holding them for years without trial. Working class Americans losing their homes in a mortgage banking scandal, and the government bails out the banks, not the working people.

    It's simple:

If you are sickened by these things, vote for Obama. If you think these are good things, vote for McCain.

I'm a Republican and I own two corporations. I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I ever said anything like this. But the unprecedented corporate greed aided and abetted by an unscrupulous Presidential administration is now starting to take down the US economy. I have to stand up and protest.

Corporations are good only insofar as they strengthen America. When they start to weaken us, we need to re-evaluate the rules and regulations governing business.

And we need to get rid of George W. Bush, along with all of his misguided policies that have dragged our once proud nation into the mud.

The oil companies already have 70 million acres with billions of untapped oil reserves as they refuse to use 80% of those acres, but they want more. Just a massive last second land grab attempt.
