I just recently starting reading blogs and reader comments. I have found that you can get the same kind of interaction on a crappy internet chat line. Instead of insulting each other why don't all of you just state your opinions on the issues and stop taking up valuable web space.

    That insult aside...

Obama using the word "fueled" implies that the lobbyists and PACs are making his campaign run. 1.7 percent is not "running" a campaign. So there.

I tell you what amazes me. The monumental amount of money spent by everyone involved in this election. Holy cow! And if they don't win it's hundreds of millions of dollars thrown away. What a waste. The $500 million and counting that the "socially aware" Obama and Clinton could have used for the good of mankind instead. Especially since they are both going to lose the race.

Let's see what kind of response that garners.

Obama is lying about McCains campaign finances and some poor suckers will believe him and see McCain as some money grubbing, unethical person. The worst is that Obama knows he is lying, but still he keeps up the charade, And, Obama is also going back on his word. I don't want him as president. He will skim a lot of people for money, but i will give him zxippo, nada. And I will not give him my vote either.

Tommypie - you can't read either? FACT: 1.7% comes from WA lobbyists? TRUE? Then, where's the lie?
OR is that only REPUBLICANS accept the lies of Republicans like BUSH? BUSH LIED AND 4000 AMERICANS DIED! Oh yeah, they're doing us a world of good! Filled up your tank lately?

      • Posted By: Tommypie @ 06/20/2008 2:42:09 PM

FreeAmerica: Do you honestly claim that the pitiful amounts of 1.7% McCain received is even worth mentioning? Why don't you try to find out how much Obama received from PAC and other lobbyists? It will not be a pretty picture. And, then the mention of the war. Pray tell me, what in the world does the war in Iraq have to do with lobbyists and PAC contributing to McCain's and Obama's campaigns? You seem a tad testy, brother,. Welfare checks late again?

How dare you call it lame. You know whats lame...NEWSWEEK...You know whats lame. Middle income families losing everything for the rich to get richer....

So how many "McCain points" are you getting for being on this site right now RDomingeuz?

  • Posted By: Dansterpower @ 06/20/2008 2:38:05 PM

Obama has clearly shown his ability to "sell out" now on more than one occasion. Thankfully I have resisted his "Kool-aid," and now see him for what he clearly is: Another politician with a different rap but clearly one squarely in the pockets of special interests as well.

  • Posted By: cromagnan @ 06/20/2008 2:37:36 PM

heres a fact. MCCAIN was part of the Keating FIVE Scandal. Look it up and share it with your friends.

Nice article, but the people don't want facts they want CHANGE. Oh, and believe me, Obama is right when he says the "American People" will pay for it. We surely will. We surely will.

PS: McSame is just as bad! Bob Barr '08! Who's with me? :)

Obama explained his decision to rely on private donations in a video posted to his website. 23/6 has added hilarious closed-captioning for any disillusioned supporters: http://www.236.com/news/2008/06/20/conservatives_confused_mccain_7260.php

I find it interesting that all of these news cycles have articles strongly criticizing Obama because most of them have been very Pro Obama! It will be interesting to see if any of these will start to do some real reporting on him. Well I am sure if they do begin doing some real reporting Obama supporters will call it "smearing" and unfortunately, some will even begin to play the "race card".

I think the Democratic Party will be in for a RUDE awakening once Obama is crowned the official nominee!

"will start to do some real reporting on him."

What you mean like focusing on the actual issues instead of focusing on how crazy his pastor is?
      What an excellent idea!

      • Posted By: Debunked @ 06/20/2008 2:23:31 PM

What significant experience does Obama have with any of the issues?

        • Posted By: jplatypuss @ 06/20/2008 2:37:17 PM

Since Mr Obama seems to have better JUDGEMENT on ALL of the issues, it's obvious to anyone that bothers to pay attention that Mr McCain's "experience" has not helped him much.

I guess you want to see what's in his preschool report file, wow such deep dark skeletons.
Maybe he didn't learn his ABC'S fastest enough, or maybe he didn't raise his hands before speaking, or just maybe he didn't make it to the rest room and had an accident.

They will really do some real reporting soon huh, GET A LIFE.

OBAMA 08' Let the American's come together and bring some dignity back to our government
      peace............

      • Posted By: Debunked @ 06/20/2008 2:24:55 PM

I think you are the one who needs to GET A LIFE! And you may want to lay off of the kool aid!

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/20/2008 1:22:18 PM

well you have been posting the truth about Obama and it just makes me really want to vote for Obama. You tried with Larry Sinclair and he just made a real fool out of himself and became the liar that everybody knew he was. You want to jump on him about public financing, and even you know that he made the right choice and still kept his word.

      • Posted By: Debunked @ 06/20/2008 2:22:52 PM

This is the beauty of America, we can vote for whoever we choose. You support Obama. I respect that! Support him to the fullest! I can't knock you for that. I even told you, it only make sense for him flip on public financing but in the long run it is going to hurt him because he has shown once again that his sayings and doings are two different things. He have no real record so when he constantly flip flop all he is doing is giving the GOP ammunition to define him!

As far as Larry Sinclair, I really don't see how he made a fool of himself. He has a very long criminal record and from what I have seen he has been honest about that. The fact that someone or an organization is working hard to shut hiim up and discredit him tells me that there may be validity to it. Who knows.... The way Obama is going, his credibility will be very damaged as well especially with him constantly stretching the truth or outright lying or flip flopping.

  • Posted By: RDOMINGUEZ @ 06/20/2008 2:30:54 PM

FreeAmerica, this has nothing to do with where the money comes from this has to do with the FACT that Obama said one thing and DID another. That makes him a LIAR, quit trying to rationalize it. It was dishonest. PERIOD.

    • Posted By: FreeAmerica @ 06/20/2008 2:36:08 PM

RDOMINGUEZ - what about McCain not even replying? What about McCain's lies - same site, same day - McCain implies that Obama doesn't think Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a terrorist organization. That's wrong. Before the Kyl-Lieberman amendment was introduced, Obama cosponsored a bill that called for the IRGC to be designated as "a Foreign Terrorist Operation." Obama was one of 72 cosponsors of the Iran Counter-Proliferation Act, which states (in part):

Iran Counter-Proliferation Act: The Secretary of State should designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a Foreign Terrorist Organization ... and the Secretary of the Treasury should place the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists under Executive Order 13224.

The McCain campaign notes that the Iran Counter-Proliferation Act has yet to come to the floor for a vote. But that doesn't change the fact that Obama's sponsorship put him on record in favor of labeling the IRGC a terrorist organization, contrary to McCain's insinuation.

Oh, he's a honest boy alright!

    RDominguez,
It's quite interesting that you are blaming the Obama campaign for having paid hackers...
Considering McCain is in fact the one who is doing this. You can sign up for it here:

RDOMINGUEZ, I am not making this out to be McCain over Obama. I am trying to have you come to me with facts that Obama blantantly lied. Please provide me a link to this full interview (a text transcript would be helpful too). Too many times with 24/7 media do we just get sound bites and no *full* context to an interview. Show me where he said "I, Barack Obama, will take public financing and I will not go back on that no matter what facts are presented to me".

He indeed may have said that he would accept public financing at one time. However, a good leader will change a course of action based upon the facts presented to them. McCain said that he was against Bush's tax cuts, but he (1) either saw facts that made him change his mind on the issue or (2) is using it as a political ploy. I don't know. But I can't call McCain a liar just a much as I can't call Obama a liar.

Just be honest with yourself here and to all of the forum members that you will say anything, true or false, to ensure that you bash Obama in the hopes that McCain gets elected. Just show a little bit of integrity there and that will at least garner some respect.

  • Posted By: xanabella @ 06/20/2008 2:33:07 PM

So let me get this straight, your column is called "factcheck.org", right? What kind of factchecking did you use to verify that McCain's 1.7% number is accurate. Is it because it was in a report from him? BFD. If he was going to fudge a number, that would be the one.

  • Posted By: RDOMINGUEZ @ 06/20/2008 2:14:57 PM

JAMEZB:jack and jill: THIS IS NOT A STORY ABOUT MCCAIN, QUIT TRYING TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE TOPIC, THIS IS A STORY ABOUT OBAMA BEING A LIAR,...STAY ON TOPIC.

Also, he was interviewed in his own words he said he would accept public funds, IN HIS OWN WORDS. So I guess you're saying we're not to believe his words. That's funny, because his whole campaign is based on a slew of shining, sophisticated words.... What a joke.

    • Posted By: FreeAmerica @ 06/20/2008 2:25:22 PM

You probably watch Faux News? GOP is so desperate to slander OBAMA that they pull this 'statistic' exagerration and it is an exagerration - it isn't an outright lie as 1.7% is from lobbyists and WA - so, how is his reference a lie? He did not quote percentatages? He did not describe it as TOTALLY or the MAJORITY he just made the statement, so if you want ot get down to semantics - let's go! So, if the worst thing they can come up with against OBAMA is his wife (Ha!) and his reference to a statistic? Compared to McCain's history? It's still pretty weak...very weak.

      • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 06/20/2008 2:31:41 PM

It's hard to attack specifics on Obama's policy proposals, because he has none. Vague generalities and platitudes, anyone?

  • Posted By: RDOMINGUEZ @ 06/20/2008 2:29:25 PM

cromagnan, that's trash, Newsweek for MONTHS has been praising Obama, I know because I've had to stomach the articles, so finally I see they are reporting the truth without bias, you can't say after month's of praising Obama they are Republican. But typical of an Obama supporter, you don't like what you see so you move on. Go to Obama's website, there you will be safe.... hahahahaha

  • Posted By: cromagnan @ 06/20/2008 2:28:39 PM

NEWSWEEK IS CLEARLY A REPUBLICAN BASED ORGANIZATION. YOU ARE LAME FOR USING THE WORD LAME. HOW YOU CAN SUM UP A DIFFICULT DECISION BY OBAMA WITH ONE WORD, IS BEYOND ME. YOU ARE WELL AWARE THAT REPUBLICANS PLAY DIRTY AND ALWAYS WILL. Remember George Bush and the FLIP FLOP commercial that did Kerry in? Turns out George Bush is a MASSIVE Flip Flopper who has us in the worst state of affairs we've ever been in as a nation. WE SHOULD BOYCOTT NEWSWEEK FOR SUCH A REDICULOUS APPROACH TO TRY AND KEEP A REPUB IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

  • Posted By: rjs784 @ 06/20/2008 2:28:18 PM

I find this article lame! So What! Write about the issues (War, Economy, immigration, Health Care etc...) We are voting on the person we think can address the issues of this country best not where someone gets money from. Last I checked it is a free country so he can do or change whatever he wants as long as its legal as moral. I want someone in office who can look at a situation and make changes that are benefits not someone who says stay the course no matter what the cost. You are lame for even writing this article.

OMG, a media outlet is printing a negative story about the Obamessiah!!!!! Be still my heart!!!!!

  • Posted By: JamezB @ 06/20/2008 2:24:45 PM

First of all this is a straight up dirty Republican stratagy right here. You guys want to jingle your keys in front of Americas face, distracting everyone from important issues which you guys know you will lose on. The Economy? JINGLE JINGLE Iraq? JINGLE JINGLE Destroying the Constitution? JINGLE JINGLE. So no lets address this little Obama thing. If you have a YouTube link to Obama promising in an interview to accept public money then lets see it. Give us a link. I try to watch and read every speech and interview he gives but it is possible that I missed one. And even if he did say that he would take public money, so what. McCain never had any intentions either of taking public money until he saw an oportunity to make his oppponent look bad. So shame on McCain too. So RDOMINGUEZ, you can rant and rave and jingle your keys all you want. But the rest of Amaerica is gonna keep our eyes on the real issues. USA! USA! USA!
