Gee, another unbiased poll by Newsweek and MSNBC. For the next 4+ months we are going get the Democratic nominee shoved down our faces by the media, who, are all imagining their exclusive one-on one interviews, book deals and documentaries about this ill-prepared candidate. The fourth estate is in the tank, and sadly we've become the British tabloid press.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:27:18 PM

At least OBAMA's way better looking than old fart McCain't... shove him down my TV anytime, he's not as sore on the eyes as Bush either... OMG, not another four years of dummies who can't speak properly in the White House... IT will be TORTURE.

      • Posted By: WhenStarsTurnBlue @ 06/20/2008 8:40:02 PM

So your vote is based on appearance? Why not just hire a model to be president then?

    • Posted By: Bareu @ 06/20/2008 8:31:42 PM

Ya thats right , you tell em there sparky. We all should be listening to that fair and equitable FOX news huh. Then we can get the Real truth HUH. Funny how you repubniks seem to forget about the fair and unbiased news from the toilet pit.

  • Posted By: PleaseSaveAmerica @ 06/20/2008 8:36:45 PM

....and why do people insist on posting in all capital letters!!!

  • Posted By: JenJenJen @ 06/20/2008 7:23:04 PM

Obama understands Muslims. They like him as well. If we can elect him, maybe the Muslim people will stop being mad at us and stop hurting us. "Peace" whatever that means, is not worth even one of our people dying.

    • Posted By: WhenStarsTurnBlue @ 06/20/2008 7:37:06 PM

Or they think Obama will be soft on terror like he is on crime, and they'll be able to get away with anything they want.

      • Posted By: apolitical one @ 06/20/2008 8:37:21 PM

The more Republicans use fear and bigotry as election tactics, the larger the victory margin for Democrats will be. Voters are tired of two Americas. This is the most biggoted this country has ever been. People dont even speak to one another, enough is enough!!! It is time to pull together. This country has set a very poor example for the free world, and should be ashamed of itself!

    • Posted By: Jerry in Tampa @ 06/20/2008 7:34:24 PM

      Jen Jen Jen,
Did you ever stop and think why Muslims might like Hussein Obama? Of course they like him his initial 20 years of life was living with and hanging with them and as they say when you hang around a gas station the fumes get in your clothes

      • Posted By: JenJenJen @ 06/20/2008 7:41:26 PM

All I know is Obama is a great man, and Muslims respect him because of his greatness and clarity, not because he is going to sell out America or something,

It is a proven fact that if you do not bother other countries, they will not hurt you - anyone who knows history knows that.

All American wars, all of them, were caused by us.

It is our fault. So was 911 - we had it coming and deserved every bit of it.

        • Posted By: WhenStarsTurnBlue @ 06/20/2008 7:59:13 PM

You have got to be kidding me. You really believe that America is to blame for 911?? I'm not even sure how to respond to that.

  • Posted By: HRASSIC @ 06/20/2008 8:29:06 PM

NEWSWEEK IS TO FLAWED DUE TO BEING TO LIBERAL. ANYONE THAT DOESN'T SEE HOW BAD OBAMA IS FOR THIS COUNTRY HAS BLINDERS ON. HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE FOR ONE. TWO, ,LOOK AT THE FRIENDS A MAN HAS FOR 20 YEARS AND YOU GET AN IDEA OF WHO THE MAN IS....WRIGHT, AYERS, ETC SHALL I SAY MORE? AS FOR EXPERIENCE WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD A 1ST YR MED STUDENT OPERATE ON ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY SO WHY LET SOMEONE WITHOUT EVEN ONE TERM OF GOVERMENT EXPERINCE RUN OUR COUNTY...COME ON! USE SOME SENSE! YOU WHO EVER YOU ARE READING THIS COMMENT WOULD PROBABLY DO A BETTER JOB WITH WHAT LITTLE EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE THEN OBAMA WHO HATES HALF OF US.....

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:30:55 PM

OMG< this post is really too silly... Obama has a brain, which is more than I can say for McCain or Bush.

      • Posted By: tc125231 @ 06/20/2008 8:34:16 PM

This post is ridiculous. The article was fact based, regarding a recent poll.

    • Posted By: Bareu @ 06/20/2008 8:33:37 PM

When was the last time you a had an alheimers patient like Mccain operate on you

  • Posted By: techboss @ 06/20/2008 8:32:38 PM

This poll is very suspect as most of the other reputable polling organizations have the race at Obama +5. When you look at the polls internals you see that it substantially over samples democrats and independents. Why not walk around the Newsweek office and poll the staff then run a headline "Obama up 100%-0% over McCain"?

  • Posted By: ApostasyUSA @ 06/20/2008 8:32:29 PM

What I find that is VERY telling, is that THERE ARE NO MCAIN SUPPORTERS.

    Only Obama haters.

Why is this telling.....is because besides the propagandists.....what has the GOP got?

  • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/20/2008 8:28:40 PM

GustoMaybe, since mccain reinvented himself by voting with Bush 95% of the time last year, and pandering to the neocon right this entire eletion with all hiw whiplash flip-flops, in order to shore up conservative support, compared to his maverick record in 2000, I'd say Bush third term applies more aptly to Mccain than does Carter second term to Obama, especially since the peanut farmer from Georgia saw UFOS and came out in the bottom of his class, just like McCain and 'C' student Bush. There's no comparison in the intelligence quotient with Obama.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:31:58 PM

I second that - we're voting for INTELLIGENCE in the WHITE HOUSE - not another damn BUBBA.

  • Posted By: PleaseSaveAmerica @ 06/20/2008 7:52:37 PM

For the love of humanity people. It is just one of a gazillion polls. Go to the National Review or Fox and you will probably find a poll where McCain is winning. Why is this even a divisive issue? That's the problem, we let things like polls rule our day as opposed to talking about and solving real problems.

    • Posted By: Nor-Cal for Obama @ 06/20/2008 8:25:44 PM

Hah. No , you wont. No poll has Mccain up.

Realclearpolitics.com/polls - they are ALL there. IDIOTS.

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 06/20/2008 7:54:35 PM

I've been asking someone to refer me to a poll that suggests that, not that polls matter in june, but id like to see it anyway, and no one seems to be able to lead me to one.

      • Posted By: PleaseSaveAmerica @ 06/20/2008 8:00:11 PM

Yeah, I was just trying to make a point that polls in June don't mean squat really. However, I would like to see if Fox or the National Review has a poll that shows McCain leading. If they have no poll or show a poll with Obama winning, then any comment against the Newsweek poll seems futile.

  • Posted By: sangiusto @ 06/20/2008 8:00:12 PM

My refernce to Rasmussen Reports shows that Obama leads by no more than three of four points nationally. ????????

    • Posted By: Nor-Cal for Obama @ 06/20/2008 8:24:40 PM

they sample a daily base of 500 or so people. While this poll is a 3 day 5640.

  • Posted By: sebr01stl @ 06/20/2008 8:22:01 PM

Minnesotaman, in all fairness, Iraq is neither Vietnam nor Germany nor Japan. Who's the enemy this time? al Quaeda who wasn't in Iraq UNTIL we invaded it, where we deposed Saddam Huseein with no WMDs? Where's their government? And this makes us safe, to invcade Iraq and plan to inavde Iran (until we've taken over all their oil)? how so? rAmerica did more to bring consolidarity to muslim extremists intent on destroying us than bin Laden could ever hope to. It is not libs who are trying to rewrite history, but neocons who are trying to reLIVE it vicariously now. I mean what's an old POW good for if not to engage and reengage? Engaging without a clear directive, realistic goal to accomplish, realistic timetable in which to do it, realistic, justifiable and humane objectives, is hardly being "proactive," IMO.

  • Posted By: Rick43 @ 06/20/2008 8:17:11 PM

I am staying Republican. The Democrats are still involved in a class war instead of uniting the country. Liberals and conservatives have to find some common ground.

I want to hear what is rigth with America.

    • Posted By: Bareu @ 06/20/2008 8:21:05 PM

What is right with America is we are finally ousting the Bush/Repubnik Aristocracy and replacing it with one that truly cares about the citizens of this country.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:20:30 PM

What is "right" with America SURE AIN'T because of the Republicans.

What is RIGHT about America is the fact that we have OBAMA on the ticket. That's amazed the entire world, and given hope that we're not the arses we have appeared to be under the Bush Regime.

You don't get out much, do you? Try travel - it's really enlightening.

  • Posted By: jaxa @ 06/20/2008 7:41:00 PM

NIce try to manipulate public opinion Newsweek! Where was this poll taken Compton or Harlem or a mental institution? You may want to let the media puppet, Barry-HO know that convicted felons and illegal aliens can't vote.

    • Posted By: apolitical one @ 06/20/2008 8:20:32 PM

Trailor-park biggot. Enough said! You are a liability to all white people.

  • Posted By: Prof D @ 06/20/2008 7:44:17 PM

If Obama is elected, this nation will essentially be flushed down the toilet. You can't trust him, you can't trust his wife and you certainly can't trust the experience he DOESN'T have. He's nothing more than a con man dressed up in a suit. He is a menace to this country and its ideals.

    • Posted By: apolitical one @ 06/20/2008 8:16:37 PM

What does the Prof stand for ?, professional idiot ? In case you have not noticed the country has already been flushed down the proverbial toilet. What experience did Bush have ? The governship of the state of Texas is mostly a ceremonial position, and you voted for him twice. You should have your voter registration revoked. What are the ideals of this country, bigottry and hatred? Corrucption and elitism?

    • Posted By: karlos1 @ 06/20/2008 7:50:40 PM

"Flushed down the toilet" LOL, how stupid can you get... when you can't grasp reality.

      • Posted By: BunnyBread @ 06/20/2008 8:12:23 PM

IDEALS??? Oh, like the ideal that says that IDEALLY, we have the right to rip off the oil of any country we please, take away the rights of any American at any time, and favor corporate greed instead of helping our fellow disabled or elderly citizens...If you like those ideals, the McBush 2008 it is!

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 06/20/2008 7:48:27 PM

All the people on this website that dont agree with you are Americans as well, so please tell, what are our ideals?

    • Posted By: PleaseSaveAmerica @ 06/20/2008 7:47:22 PM

Hey Prof D ... do you care to back that up with any factual statements? Oh, of course not, you can't. What was I thinking? I forgot your facts come from Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 7:46:15 PM

You are SUPER TACKY. Wow. Get a life, Prof D!!!

Who raised you? You are a die-hard member of the KKK - are you a card-carrying, flag waving Nazi war hero too?

  • Posted By: karlos1 @ 06/20/2008 7:47:55 PM

Republican heads spinning here on this site by droves... Pity, get used to it folks,'the CHANGE is coming.

    • Posted By: Minnesotaman @ 06/20/2008 8:16:27 PM

How Obamaites use the word change without much thought. Change can be good as long as it is in the right direction but everthing Obama believes in shows he would rather us be like Cuba (change in the wrong direction) then like the great country we are. True change would be getting rid of Democrats and liberal Republicans so we can use all of our resources for energy (a comprehesive energy policy that includes Anwar, Nuclear energy, and incentives for other forms of energy too). True change would be to stop beating up on business and let them do what they do best, which is innovate and produce new technologies. True change is celebrate success and those who do succeed instead of tear them down and take away their freedoms through regressive tax policy. All of these true changes are opposite of what Democrats and Obama want. These true changes are keeping in the spirite our what this country was founded on, not the class war fair and anti americanism of Democrat policies which are leading us in the wrong direction. Remember this true fact.... our economy was growing until Democrats took over both houses of congress. As John Adams said, "Facts are stubborn things.".

For those interested, you can go to Pollster.com and find every poll being taken listed, nationally and state by state. Currently Obama is ahead of McCain by 6 points in the aggregate numbers of all the current polls. No current poll shows McCain with a lead. The NEWSWEEK poll is the most recent, so you can follow to see if this is a trend or just the result of one poll. You can also track any state to see how the two candidates compare. The stats are facinating. By any measure at this point Obama has a significant lead. But that obviously can change over the next 4 and a half months.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:15:25 PM

Thanks for your info - great post! True, there is still time ahead and polls will always change, fluctuate, etc. But good luck to Obama - he's tops! I'm excited about America these days - we have so much latent potential in our people and he has definitely inspired many to get involved, get invigorated, and at least have the dialog about why we want change and what that might mean.

      Go OBAMA!

  • Posted By: cks69@yahoo.com @ 06/20/2008 8:13:51 PM

" A Big Intrusive Government"? Who ran our country into the biggest deficit in modern history? An even more astounding feat given that his administration was handed a massive surplus? Could it have been the Republicans?? Now that is what I call evidence of a Big Instrusive Government.

Higher taxes? On the wealthy: absolutely. That is the crux of a progressive tax policy. The Republicans do not care about cutting taxes for the middle class, blue collar workers.

Unfortunately, its really not the republican's fault...It is the fault of uneducated, myopic, irrational people like you that our country has experienced the worst 8 years - both politically and economically - in our history.

  • Posted By: bobbys @ 06/20/2008 8:02:12 PM

other polls put it at mccain 65% and the other guy 35%

      Really? Which one Sir?

  • Posted By: sjhollar @ 06/20/2008 8:02:13 PM

If you are a liberal wanting high taxes, a big intrusive government, continued high gas prices, etc., vote for Obama. If not, vote for McCain. It is really that simple.

    • Posted By: PleaseSaveAmerica @ 06/20/2008 8:10:47 PM

No, actually it is not that simple. That is what is wrong with this country and most of its voters. They try to make it that simple.

Higher taxes does not equate to bad. Period. Stop saying that. Higher taxes that is spent on pork and frivolous projects is bad. Higher taxes that are spent on the betterment of our society is just fine with me, and I welcome it. That's why you need to take control of who is elected in government to make sure our taxes are spent wisely.

A big intrusive government? What the hell are you talking about? Have you looked at your government lately? It is big, it is wasteful and it is a Republican administration.

High gas prices. Well let's see. Gas prices went up 150% from 2002-2006. And now it has gone up 70% from 2007-2008. I think both parties are guility of allowing that, don't you think? Also, you do realize that $4/gal gas is still pretty cheap, right? You do realize that we are spoiled in that regard, right? Probably not -- I am betting you think the gas tax holiday is going to solve all of our woes.

Here again we have another short-term thinker who doesn't want to face that we have long term problems that will not only affect this generation, but my kids.

    • Posted By: Nor-Cal for Obama @ 06/20/2008 8:08:40 PM

It's really not that simple. And if you "simply" took a look at the economic plans of Senator Obama, you'd realize you were talking out of our backside.

GOP will not learn that fear is failed.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/20/2008 8:06:25 PM

Hey, we got "big government" with Bush policies these past 8 years! What the hell do you think the WAR is, "small government"??? That is HUGE government - and will cost tax payers for GENERATIONS TO COME. Are you living in a dream world or are you just terribly under-educated?

      War = BIG GOVT
Bush = BIG OIL = LOTS OF PROFIT for the OIL BIZ and the SAUDIS, Bush's good friends...
      McCain't = BUSH

Knock yourselves out, but I advise you study Government and SPENDING WE:VE BEEN DOING UNDER BUSH and how that is going to drag us all down a BLACK ECONOMIC HOLE. Go ahead, vote for McMediocrity this Falll - keep up the status quo, it's been a MARVELLOUS RIDE.

You want MORE of the SAME? Vote McCain't.

  • Posted By: biscuit @ 06/20/2008 8:09:17 PM
