"Intelliphobia" - The fear of learning FACTS about any political issue from any other source but FOX NOISE and the FOXpublicans. You can tell an "intelliphobe" by their behavior patterns: repeating lies over and over at a higher volume each time; they believe that action makes their lies true. (a technique perfected by Bush). Also refusing to use reason or logic to respond, or they will, when confronted directly, simply not respond at all.
The "intelliphobe" is a dying bread, first showing their faces in late 01 early 02, they were strong then, by the 04 election they had fallen off to about 51% of the population, they were how ever able to secure the 04 election, that alone has cost the US over 3000 more children, DEAD in Iraq, because of FEAR of Intelligence. It 06 we saw the first significant CHANGE when Democrats were given a SLIM majority in Congress. (note: this is not a veto proof majority, and prior to 06 Bush and NEVER used his veto pen, since over 100 times). The 51% has now died off to about 15% of Americans who suffer with this illness, and it is expected that between November 08 and Jan 09 they will be almost entirely extinct, with the exception of the FOX NOISE GROUP where it is believed this disease started, theirs will be a long process of "healing".
So don't worry, use this information to help them, don't judge them, as they are a dying bread and it is their fear that makes them irrational, and say things they know to NOT be true. Just try to help them and eventually TOGETHER we will have a great country again ;).
See also Joseph Goebbels - the actual inventor of this disease.

H.Davidson - Are you what you call an "intelliphobe"?

Your repeated (at least daily) posting of the same tired old comment seems to qualify you for that distinction, at least according to the definition which you supply.

    Rassmussen to the rescue!

Last week when two new polls using 1400 likely voter gave the nod to Obama for the first time in Florida, Rassmussen put out a same day poll using 500 LVs that McCain is still leading there.

Rassmussen is a well-known as a Republican shill. The three Rs... Rush,...Republican... Rassmussen.

Ever wonder why Fox only quotes Rassmussen?

We can certainly agree that Polls should be taken lightly but to use Rassmussen to discredit another Poll? Feeble!

First it was convicted political fixer Antoin "Tony" Rezko; then it was Nadhmi Auchi; then it was William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn; then it was Rashid Khalidi; then it was Rev. Wright, Rev. Polls don't mean too much......I mean come on! One thousand people, out of 300 million? Polls are for Journalists to have something to talk about during the 24 hour news cycle, which ever way they go.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 06/24/2008 4:43:37 PM

Polls actually use statistical analysis. The question that has to be asked to as statistician is whether the sample size is large enough...for most polls I have seen over the years, they average between 1000-1500 people. The key to the poll measurement comes down to two factors, the honesty factor, and second change the mind factor. You will also notice a plus or minus percentage because that will take into effect those types of variables that I mentioned before....This is all from my statistics class I took a while back....

Personally, ..polls don't mean much unless the election is the day of the poll. News likes to have these polls showing to get good avertisment ratings, etc. Otherwise what fun would an election be without polls....LOL...Mark

IT MUST FEEL GOOD TO BE A "ROOKIE" ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!!!

Get used to it, President OBAMA!!!!

Today's Gallup: "By 19- and 16-point margins, respectively, Americans are more likely to see Barack Obama rather than John McCain as better able to handle energy prices and the economy, two of the most important presidential election issues in the public's eyes at this time. Six other issues were tested in the poll, with the two candidates positioned roughly evenly on Iraq, moral values, and illegal immigration, while Obama has an edge on healthcare and taxes. McCain's only advantage is on terrorism."

Don't forget the Rasmussen Polls: "The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. The Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator shows Obama leading in states with 200 Electoral College votes while McCain leads in states with 174 votes. When leaners are included, it's Obama 284, McCain 240. "

    Oh , happy days!!!!!!!

I suggest everyone go to these polls yourself and read the numbers because this guy just regurgitated some fantasy numbers that only lives in his koolaid filled head. Keep on wishing and maybe the fairy tale will come true in your mind also.

      • Posted By: Kboogie @ 06/24/2008 3:49:22 PM

Please, oh please check the numbers. Don't take my word for it. Make sure you search the full spectrum...Rasmussen, Gallup, AP.... And, look at each polls' take on the Electoral College numbers. You know....that colorful map that the GOP loved to reference during the Democratic primary!!!!!

Idiot!!!! Who's drinking the KOOLAID now, beeeeyotch!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: cowen123456 @ 06/24/2008 1:05:39 PM

I find it interesting.......with the economy in such bad shape, with the fundamentals appearing to be so wrong for the GOP, with most of the media playing cheerleaders to Obama, with Mccain having accept public financing which will put him at about 200 million below what Obama will have, with all of hollywood supporting Obama, with such naratives as connections for Obama to MLK, JFK and RFK while Mccain is tied with "the white old man".........with all the talk of phenomenon, movement and change and the rest of it..............Mccain should really be at around 20% in the poll if the staged show is to believed, yet, the guy is running 2-6 points behind since Hillary dropped out.

Just when I get a bit cynical of americans, I find myself seeing these polls and I think......The left is wrong...americans are not dumb, they're not empty spounges, they're not blind and perhaps common sense is indeed common. It is a real comfort for me to look at Mccain in these polls and know that voters do indeed care about character and integrity and people are over-all a decent bunch of folks who really do know facts from fictions in most cases :)

Theres been 4 polls out since this fabricated Newsweek poll and they all showed a 2,3,4,6 gap between Mccain and Obama..just like all the polls in the last month. Looks like Newsweek attempted to rigged the averages for Obama....it was indeed a out liar poll! This is really sad, when a news organization felt so superior and elite that they should skewed polls in order to change public opinions in a presidential race......is this how you serve the public Newsweek? bambozzeled the public with false information in order to serve your own agenda? Is this the new bar for reporting? If so, your bar is set so low that it is now in line with the inquirer, TMZ and OK magazine. • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/23/2008 5:04:11 PM

We tax the oil companies, use the proceeds to speed up the development of alternative fuels, demand for oil goes down, and you get a cheaper gas bill. See how that works? Simple.

      • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 12:50:30 PM

oil will have to reach 2700 dollars a barrel in order for alternative fuels to compete with it. you could get a lot of taxes on that.

On Thursday Dan Abrams played a video during his MSNBC show of John McCain saying, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company." Abrams speculated that the video could help to undermine the right wing's attacks on Michelle Obama for her comment about being proud of her country for the first time in her whole life.

On Abrams' Friday night show he began with yet another segment on McCain making statements about the difficulty of being proud of your country. This time McCain explained to a young man that "it's tough, tough in some respects" to be proud of America.

As Abrams notes, the statement is hardly controversial, but he goes on to ask, "is it really all that different from Michelle Obama's comment."

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/22/2008 8:20:55 PM

I heard or read something about McCain saying something like that, but it was tied into when he was a POW and the old saying that you dont realize how much you miss or love something / someone until it is taken away from you. In his case, it was his freedom and living in this great countryy of America.

In what way does John Mccain NOT SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS who serve NOW, make you greatful? enlighten me...please, k;)

Nice comparison...Oli North is a CRIMINAL, google "The Iran Contra Hearing"...great paralell. McCAin Recently had his records sealed, but you can foind the info out there, and if he denies the FACT available, he can always open his file, FYI the military DOES NOT just seal files, and WHY would they seal the files of a "hero". Now a politicain, who claims things that MAY (are) not be true, if the poloticain asks, they seal it.

HDavidson, whatever your feelings for the man are, the fact still remains McCain did serve his country, was shot down, was beaten after being pulled out of the plane and then was repeatedly tortured for five years. The VietCongs? did offer to release him because his dad was an Admiral but he refused because he wanted to stay with his troops. You don't feel he deserves any credit? I do, because what's fair is fair.

There are SEVERAL witnesses including 2 American commanders that were in Hanoi before and during the "McCain" stay, they ALL say there was NO torture, McCain sustained his injuries while ejecting, unpon his capture he cried out "my daddy is an Admiral" he was taken to a hospital and treat for hi SELF INFLICTED injuries, he quickly became know as "The Song Bird" to the VC, that was thier name for him, because, he immediately began to talk and did 32 prop films for them. He was delivered to the prison in bandages and a cast, more than any other got that captured broken and injured, but then, his daddy was an admiral.
Google "why POWs hate John McCAin" or try to find ANY bit of his record that is NOT sealed and "classified". The truth is there and though he is a survivor, he is NO hero, and actually spent 5yrs more serving the VC then he did with 20 hrs crashing planes and getting shot down for the US. Maybe he should run in Viet Nam, he has experience there, 5yrs V. 20hrs, you do the math.

            • Posted By: OldGamer007 @ 06/23/2008 12:29:38 PM

Ever wonder why none of the other POW's that were with McCain (Ted Guy - McCain's SRO, etc) ever received the same injuries as McCain? Seems from the newly released medical records, McCain's injuries are consistent with those you receive from not holding your arms in while being ejected from your jet.

          • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/22/2008 9:52:03 PM

I think McCain means 4 more years just like the last 8, but he did serve in combat, which is more than I can say about Bush. i don't know about the propaganda films, but I believe the 5 planes that were crashed refer to his father, not him. John McCain's father wanted to command an aircraft carrier, but to do so, he had to be a pilot. I am not sure if any strings were pulled, but his father ended up in flight school, during which time he crashed 5 planes.

          • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 06/23/2008 8:40:40 AM

If your question is directed at me, I'm grateful that McCain served his country. He also endured years of torture. Have you ever been tortured? I don't support him for president but at least I give him credit where credit is due.

Sharenews, you talked about Michelle Obama before. I want to see you be honest. You called Obama a liar. Now lets see you come out and tell the truth. Now that McCain said those comments, what excuse are you going to say for McCain and does that change your mind about him? And if it doesn't then are you going to tell others not to use Michelle Obama as an excuse to say the Obama family don't love America?

            • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/23/2008 10:52:37 AM

Mccain was a returning POW with a backdrop of 1970's when he said this. It was an obvious reflection of greatfullness. Unlike Michelles comment which was more of a condescending tone. MCCain is talking about his appreciation for being an american. Michelle is talking about her appreciation of America. This MCCain comment isn't going to affect anyones opinion of him and if it is aired I believe it will boost americas support for him. For you can see the graciousness and sincerity in his voice. 5 1/2 years is a long time in a bamboo cage he was referring to how he felt about America when she was taken away from him.

              • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 06/23/2008 12:32:38 PM

Im saying he made the statement originally in that context. He has repeated it a number of times and what he is saying is he never truly understood what it was to be an american until he was deprived of his freedom. What Michelle Obama was saying is she never saw the good in America until her husband ran for office. Is there a difference? I think so its subtle but its there.

Hi P, because in their minds it's "Different" and excuse him because he was a POW. My heart goes out to any and everyone including their families, who have suffered that way. But being a POW should not equate a Free Pass for McCain on F-up that he says or does.

      • Posted By: chindognyc @ 06/22/2008 9:46:08 PM

No Sharenews, he said that he too did not love America until and that is the key word, until. He then told a voter that it is hard to love America. He actually said it is tough to love America.

        • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 06/23/2008 12:10:58 PM

Hi chindognyc, McCain actually said several veriations of this statement. I agree if stupid people wanted to they could take his words out of context and spin them as being unpatriotic just as they did with Michelle Obama.

The people that choose to argue against this point are looking for excuses that they believe are socially acceptable for not even considering voting for Obama while hiding behind "I'm undecided" but if you look at their posts they never question anything that McCain says or does. On the other hand Obama cannot sneeze without them claiming that he sneezed because he is a dope fiend or something equally silly.

        • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/23/2008 2:37:57 AM

My guess is that whatever McCain said exactly in that one video will be of lesser consequence then Michelle s words given all of the other things she has said (pattern) makes one wonder about her sincerity in loving America. . . really. Pattern is the key word here. Cuz you know what a MEAN COuNTRY America is in her mind, too.. .

      • Posted By: HDavidson @ 06/22/2008 9:26:35 PM

McCaine started going down when he started courting the ultraconservatives, he tied his own hands. Obama has made a big leap by being very proactive. I was impressed by the way he talked against the oil speculators. I mean "talk", who knows?, We will see.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/23/2008 5:22:44 PM

I agree - I think McCain made a big mistake. He'll lose more independent voters than he will gain ultraconservative voters. Someone didn't do the math on his team.

      • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 9:50:06 AM

Mccain can't court the Left for they are very happy with Obama the middle of the roaders aren't paying attention yet so that leaves him the Conservatives. He has to pursue conservatives right now and then slowly move towards the middle as things get closer to election.

One of the big reasons for Obamas lead is the Conservatives have not been nor will they ever be completely enamoured with MCCain. MCCains biggesst gains will come from moderates and undecideds as Obama takes torpedos from the 527's.

I find it amazing that your publication has a 15 point lead and everyone else is showing McCain ahead by 4 -6 points. Of course, you're so biased towards Obama that you have to show something positive. Even if it's not truthful....

    • Posted By: OldGamer007 @ 06/23/2008 11:11:18 AM

An online poll by Time Magazine over the weekend had McCain 15 points ahead of Obama, am I to assume you will be there next pointing out their information is skewed as well?

C'mon peeps, polls from third parties are nothing more then blog candy... (want data surrounding polls and their averages, go to realclearpolitics.com)

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/23/2008 12:10:48 PM

An online poll would always favor Obama because a larger percentage of McCain supporters are not as computer savvy

        • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 9:41:34 AM

online polls are also populated by activists and being that Liberals are more active than conservatives the polls almost always go that direction. Unless they are taken on a site that is arch conservative.

        • Posted By: OldGamer007 @ 06/23/2008 12:18:33 PM

On the flip side, being the younger generation has cell phones rather then land-lines, regular poll's should favor McCain.

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/24/2008 1:34:27 AM

They have both, who we kidding, and of course use both.

    • Posted By: summer1216 @ 06/23/2008 2:59:14 PM

Other polls have NOT shown such narrow margins. A Harris Poll of 2,327 adults surveyed online June 5-13 gave Obama a 44 percent to 33 percent edge. Harris polls are very reputable. Future polls will begin reporting these results on a consistent basis.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/23/2008 4:48:41 PM

I'm worried about the 23% who did not favor either candidate

Obama's political prisoner Larry Sinclair freed
A Capitol Hill source close to Larry Sinclair reports:

    Larry Sinclair is free!

Sinclair was transfered from DC jail to a Delaware courtroom this morning.

The Delaware judge immediately released Sinclair on his own recognizance after a perfunctory hearing this afternoon.

Apparently, the "fugitive warrrant" used was not really issued from Delaware

But rather the "fugitive warrant" was fabricated in DC -- perhaps likely by the US Attorney's office. This of course suggests high level political corruption.

Sinclair's blog is exploding...1,500,000 hits and growing fast. More detailed "evidence" to be revealed. NOT GOING AWAY....

    NOBAMA!!!

Evidentally you did not get the memo? You are officially a JOKE!

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/23/2008 11:29:06 PM

Yeah, but the 1,500,000 hits are all from you, big deal.

By the way, how are you coming with scrouging up the Michelle Obama video of her making racist statements. You remember, the one that was coming out any day now ... about a month ago.

      • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 1:36:48 AM

lol they probably really were all from him! thats funny.the hits were from Holy roller and Obama.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 06/23/2008 11:34:05 PM

So now your accusing the Bush administration of political corruption with your buddy Sinclair?...can't have it both ways....LOL

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 06/23/2008 11:32:38 PM

Thanks ZigZag for the reminder, and I guess the other part that you spew with the other bs is the Michelle tapes...does Sinclair have those too for all to see? ZigZag, myself, and others are holding our breath Holly so where are they?

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 06/23/2008 11:29:13 PM

Here comes the knight in shining armor, all happy and excited that her man Sinclair was released...It was nice and quiet on the Western front for several days... The genie has been released from the bottle...

This is going to a party for Holly and company.... I like the word "evidence"....I wonder Holly what more bs can you spew about him, and what "evidence" do you think that Sinclair has that will be so damaging that Obama will have to call off his campaign? Would you rather see Hillary against McCain?

  • Posted By: MADDASHELL @ 06/23/2008 1:08:41 PM

email your congressman , drill or pack your bags! revolt is the only way to get them to drill!

    • Posted By: summer1216 @ 06/23/2008 2:40:41 PM

Oil prices will not go down if we drill for oil ourselves. At the volume we will be bringing it up, we won`t be able to produce a barrel more cheaply than the Saudis can. Cheap gas is gone permanently.

      • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 1:59:39 AM

It doesn;t cost much to produce a barrel of oil the problem is the limited supply on hand. If we drill we increase supply so the price will go down. As soon as opec sees us getting serious about drilling suppliy will pick up in a hurry.

    • Posted By: troyola @ 06/23/2008 1:20:28 PM

if the oil company does the drilling what is to stop them from keeping the price high.

      • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/23/2008 6:44:46 PM

That's an excellent point. The truth is, there is plenty of oil where the oil companies can currently drill, it's just more expensive to get at it. And since the oil companies don't want to put their profits at risk, they want to do more damage to the environment just to save money. Disgraceful.

BWAAAAAAAAAAA - what a joke of a poll. The methodology said it only polled adults not likely voters and that it weighted the poll to conform to census data regarding race, gender, age, etc. How stupid do you think we are? The electorate is not represenative of either adults or census data. More older people vote than younger - more whites than blacks as a % of their populations. A poll like this only has one purpose = PROPOGANDA!

    • Posted By: onepoker @ 06/24/2008 1:51:36 AM

I think there is a good chance more black people will vote this time around. call me crazy.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 06/23/2008 4:45:00 PM

I would suggest educationg yourself on statistics - that way you won't look so ignorant on this blog.

  • Posted By: LindaA_1 @ 06/23/2008 11:56:10 PM

Newsweek magazine, better now as the Obama Gazette, is becoming a national joke. How do you people come up with these ridiculous poll numbers? Survey your own staff?

And all you Obama supporters. Searching the web to find an isolated, obviously skewed, Obama poll? Go no further, just stick with Newsweek.

Don't start with the cherry picked poll number quotes. If you have any interest in facts and reality, go to sites like <http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/> or <www.pollster.com> and get some credible information.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 06/24/2008 12:06:14 AM

Have you tried Rasmussen's report figures....early this evening, Sharenews posted those figures on the blog. I think most people would agree with your statement, and that is why a lot of us who post here refer to the other poll...Nobody wants to cherry pick numbers...but as I have said countless times, polls are as good as my wife's hair color...as soon as it turns gray, it changes as long as the wind doesn't get in the way and blow it into a mess...it will be a different color....Mark

      • Posted By: LindaA_1 @ 06/24/2008 1:49:31 AM

Oh the polls are almost useless this election season. But if you are going quote poll numbers, then the only honest thing to do is take your own poll of the polls. There's always an isolated poll to prove a disingenuous point - if you are so Obama inclined.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 06/24/2008 12:35:47 AM

mark, I loved your reference to your wifes hair as an analogy. Too funny.
