Comment: What a great man. Thinking about humanity and the world. "In terms of controversy, this whole thing about which operating system somebody uses is a pretty silly, limited thing, compared to starvation and death". It's thinking like that, which separates great minds from the petty ones. Despite all that wealth, all I hear in this man is humility and the desire to do good. I think that is the most amazing thing. I have always been an admirer of BillG and although I'll miss him being at the CES keynote and other tech conventions, I think the rest of the world deserves to know what he can do for them. For all you Gates and MS haters, it's time to acknowledge BillG's great contributions to the industry and now to the rest of the world. Had it not been for MS, we would have still been waiting to get our turn on some stupid behemoth of a mainframe, or paying $5,000 to get an over-hyped crapintosh.

    Comment: Dear Bill,

I have no money, so I belittle the wealth you've created.

My pet project isn't funded by you, so I belittle your investments.

I have never created something of great worth, so I don't understand what value a company brings to society.

I haven't been able to rise above my situation, and some of it has to be your fault.

So would you like to meet? Or maybe you're doing something less valuable with your time than reading this..

    Sincerely,

    Prideful from below

Comment: Bill, how about insourcing some engineering jobs back to America? That would help the whole country and lessen the need for charity. Students in America may actually begin to major in engineering again if they thought they could get a job when they graduated!

Comment: How do we thank someone like Bill Gates. He is doing so much to help the world's masses. Bill, do you think you could help bring back the jobs you outsourced to other countries? Our country has lost so many jobs to outsourcing by companies like Microsoft. American students are not enrolling in engineering schools because there are no more engineering jobs in America. Could your philanthropy do something about this?

    Comment: Bill and Melinda,
Thankyou for doing all that you are doing worldwide to fight disease. With your leverage, any way you can challenge the Bush Adm. to do more for AIDS here, in the USA instead of offering huge amnts to 3rd world country as long as they teach abstinence only...no condoms, etc. ? We have a large problem here in the USA re: AIDS with higher and higher infection rates in categories of younger generation youth due to the complacency of thought that all one needs to do is take a pill...no big deal, inducing thoughts of wayward safe sex practices. As with alot of social programs this admn. disregards and shifts funding to this 'war'. Can you do anything here in the states is my ?????? Or are you waiting for an admn in the Whitehouse that acknowledges science? Thanks and thanks again for Vista....wonderful product!

Comment: Because of Bill Gates, my college education up to my doctorate will now be fully paid for. I couldn't say thanks enough times to show how much I appreciate it. But, thank you Bill!

Isn't it ironic: Xerox is hoping it can profit by teaching companies how to reduce their printing.
