I often used my intuition in my law enforcement career. It never let me down. I always wondered if I could change fate, though. Before going into work on night I awoke at 9pm to an overwhelming, all encompassing feeling that I was going to die that night. I "knew" that this was the night. I had heard about people in wars that also "knew" and they bought the farm. I remember looking at my 3 year old son sleeping and the profound feeling that I "knew" that I would never see him again and that he was about to not have a Dad watch him grow up or be there for him through life. Well, later when two armed robbers tried to shoot me, I reacted faster due to the earlier feeling that I had. I came out on top. I survived because I followed that intuition. Had I not followed my intuition and reacted before one of them drew his gun, I simply would not be here today. I followed my "gut feeling" and I came out on top. That was in 1987. So, to those that are reading this article about Laura and others that use their intuition and develope it to a heightened level, all I can say is: yes, it is real. Yes some of us have it or use it more than others. It is simple...........embrace it, or reject it and go your way.

So,......................why aren't all of the lotteries won by psychics?

    Dunno, I'm not psychic.

Now that is an interesting question: Why aren't all the lotteries won by psychics?
In fact, none are. We worked out why: In order to do this work, the psychic or medium
must work with the intention of service for the other person. To try the lottery numbers
for yourself would not work because you would be too subjective. Detachment and
neutrality are key to objective visioning or the future, or the lottery numbers. Either way,
the psychic loses out because she can rarely be that detached when considering
her own advantage. M. Moran www.secularmediums.com

I just ordered all her books before I finished reading the blogs here. I used the intuitions that I had to survive in a law enforcement carreer. I also always wondered if one could change fate. I found out one night when I had an overwhelming, all encompassing feeling that I was goingto die that night. I couldn't shke it even when I looked at my son sleeping and I felt a profound sadness that I would never see him again. I just "knew" it. Well, when two armed robbers tried to shoot me, I reacted faster than they did because of that "feeling" or intuition. I came out on top. Call it intuition, or, call it being watched over by and angel (most likely the other cop that had been killed by armed robbers in the same location). I don't know. All I know is that some of use our intuition more than others. We are blessed to know how to read it and to understand it. We are smart enough to employ it in our lives. I never even heard of Laura Day before reading this article a few minutes ago. It works, I know. She is real. That is for sure.

What if there were no hypothetical situations???????????????.?

A lot of women tend to be intuitive, good at reading behavior and results, especially mothers who have to pay attention to their children and try to anticipate their needs and well being, but it's a sad state of our society when we start to claim people have psychic ability and can actually see into the future. If more people were more intuned to basic human behavior, we would all be in a better state. And the inflated paychecks that go to the charlatains could be put to better use like funding education.

I might think of a number. Does anyone know when?

people who go to pychics need something in their empty lives to look forward to because what there doing is not working so they need someone to tell them everything will be alright, insecure people suck

how stupid must these companies be to believe in pychic powers ,give me a break!

ALL "Psychics" , without exceptions or equivocations are charlatans that lie to people and take advantage of them. Intuition is, at best, an educated guess.

You are very narrow minded. Who are you to say what is real? GOD? I don't think so.

Being psychic myself sometimes is scary. Premonitions I have gotten since childhood, most involving other people and accidents, where the haunting ones, especially since I thought if I had told someone these incidents could have been prevented. Reading tarot cards helps focus the wave of information. I read for friends and don't charge letting them pay by taking me out to lunch or getting me a gift. Most say that I am so right on about what I've told them it is scary. Much of the time I see things about people that I don't want to know. The reason I don't take money is I will be ultimately be responsible for how the person uses the insight and I am not willing to sell my soul for $$$.

How come nobody has good premonitions.... Mary found 20 dollars, Buddy gets a dog? Every one always has bad premonitions...

yes there are good results, but the strong vibes that come are usually much more powerful when there is danger. The choices a person makes always determines how the future unfolds. Telling someone to look at this area in their life when deciding about X is the most helpful. Being psychic is like tuning in the radio station, a little to the left or right and when you go over the hill and around the corner sometimes the reception goes fuzzy and the knob needs to be re-adjusted.

I am here to say that I myself have the ability to have "intuitions" and take offense to the previous comment that all psychics are liars. I do not lie to people; I tell them what I see. I believe the comment was posted at best, by an idiot! Knoxville, TN

If you were to read her books, attend her classes, or meet her, one would understand that the basis of her work is believing in one's own intution or "gut feeling". We all have it and she has tapped into it deeper than most, but her purpose is to share it with every person or group she encounters. This artcile doesn't legitimize Ms. Day as a psychic, but as a really a savvy woman and mother who used her own intuition to tap into something that not only would give her a businnes, but also the opportunity to empower others with the gift we all have, our intuition. It's appalling that Newsweek would run a piece like this, that unquestioningly repeats claims about psychic powers. A quick check by Tony Dokoupil with an organization such as the James Randi Educational Foundation (http://www.randi.org/) would have shown that, contrary to his claim, psychics *can* be objectively tested. When they are, they fail. Newsweek is usually held to be a source of thorough and thoughtful reporting; it's a shame that they demeaned their own standards with this piece.

You do not believe that you have gut instincts? That a new born baby knows his/her Mother as soon as they are born? Have you ever bought something and new it was a bad purchase but you did it anyway and you got a bad feeling in the gut of your stomach? That is intuition and yes my dear you have it too. Thank God for it that is your free will. The article is geared toward intuition not corner store psychics. An open mind will take you places you never dreamed of.

      • Posted By: dr.skeptic @ 06/25/2008 9:37:40 AM

I prefer to have my opinions based on evidence. I do believe that quick, basic emotional responses as you outline in your purchase example do serve as warning flags in decision making, to be rationally evaluated (in a productive case) or rationalized (in a less productive case). If we are talking about such responses as they occur in a naturally functioning mind of the sort explored in experimental psychology, the two of us don't disagree. My quarrel is tying these responses to some supernatural psychic power that lets one, for example, determine that a hidden object is a lemon (or more precisely, "sour"). This "psychic" power was the major focus of the article, and hence led to my complaint..

I have experienced Laura's abilities first hand. She is the real deal, but one of her greatest attributes (and there are many) is her generosity of spirit, her willingness to share her knowledge and support other people in being the best they can be. she removes the hokus pokus from intuition, and has written books and provided classes that lay out the methods and steps that enable us to use our intuition. I consider Laura to be one of my great teachers. She changed my life for the better - how many people can you say that about? Practical Intuition made me feel that my intuition was a normal thing and that it was ok to be me. And then I was privileged to be able to study with Laura. She's completely down to earth and teaches that everyone has intuition and everyone can get better at using it. She's wonderful and funny and smart and doesn't guru-fy herself. She is a great role model by just being who she is. Fabulous!!!

One facet of Laura Day's talent is her style of communication: clear, concise, free of any mystification. Look up her books, Practical Intuition, The Circle, or Welcome to Your Crisis to see what I mean. Laura packs more valuable tools into a one-day workshop than many others might impart in a month. This is a tribute to her generous nature, and I whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone who feels any curiousity about the development of personal intuition. Warren P., Chicago

Comment: I am a PhD psychotherapist with more than 20 years experience. In my craft it is important to listen on deeper levels than normal conversation in order to provide quality service for clients. I have found Laura Day's workshops on Developing Intuition invaluable in my work as well as my life. In particular, we must all learn to "listen to ourselves" but in our fast-paced society it is not easy to tell the difference between anxious impulsivity and an urge to act based on one's deeper intuition. Laura Day teaches in a practical way, helping all participants to learn, respectful to her art, it's limits and her students. She is the "real deal," and I'm sure she is worth her fee to these large corporations.
