john and cindy mccain are fine americans. these obama folks haven't been around long enough to tell much about them. so, if all we can do is choose between what we know and don't know, i'll stick with the experience and leadership of the mccain's over the unknown obama.

I do not wish to take away from the good that Sen. McCain has done, or that which his wife has done. I just feel that if this man will ignore the needs of his family, what is he going to do with this country? Will he let us get drug-addicted and let us have miscarrages without support? Is he to "focused" on "helping" that he cannot see the pain he caused by being so "focused" on "helping"? I am afraid for our country.

My goodness! Have you NOT heard about the Clintons' sexual scandals, lies, money laundering and more?

Have you ever served? Sometimes people sacrifice everything for service to the country. Those who have never served will NEVER understand. Until you serve, stay away from judgement attempts

Cindy McCain is a very candid and super Lady. She would make a lovely addition to the White House. She is the type of lady you could sit down and have dinner with and discuss everything from child rearing to the lastest tales going around town. She is down to earth and her protectiveness of her kids reminds me of me.
I am a Navy Mom and a Marine grandmother and I respect her for her not wanting to discuss her son's deployment.

It seems everyone blames the politicians for the state the US is now in....but in reality its the American Voter that got us into the corruption and mess we are now in.....the majority of the voters in American have bought into the two party system. You complain and complaoin but you keep voting for your party be it Demo or Repub. Get a freekin back bone and vote every Dem and Reub out of office even if it means taking your crummy hands and writing a name on a ballot. The two major parties have passed so many laws to prevent smaller parties from having a fair chance so its up to you AMERICA to vote for the smaller party candidates even if you have to write their name down on paper. Until the American Voters do this you will have the same old same old for years to come...........don't you people get it....the Dems and the Repubs have no one to answer too........vote them all out of office and you send a message to future Dems and Repubs .......but like sheep led to the slaughter you voters will follow them to the slaughterhouse election after election.

That certainly is a fair and intellegent statement. The problem is that no third party candidate will evr get elected until someone we can all get behind runs. Joe Leiberman has shown that it can be done on a small scale but a National Candidate we could support just hasn't had the stones to desert their party and run independently. I'm ready but not for Nader or Bob Barr. All vietnam vets are heroes to me. Many of my younger friends served there. I was lucky to be in between Korea and Nam.

In 2020 that statement may be correct.

One last question to Retired Marine. A question he's ducked for a few days. In 1987 a Marine colonel who lives in seattle headed a group that was funded by mostly military families and friends. if he is a Retired marine, he probably should have some knowledge of it. They went to Thailand and then the Vietnam in search of info on MIAS. He reported that there is credible evidence that more than 100 were alive there. John McCain led the committee that declared that NONE were left there alive. How could a former POW say that and how can a Vietnam vet support someone who would say that.

Last week Cindy McCain shows up in vietnem for he "smiles" tour and was of course redeived warmly. McCain travels there often. His popularity couldn't be higher there.

Reply to RetiredMarine: Oh yeah, the "debacle" that was Clinton in office - the same debacle that produced 23 million new jobs, balanced the budget, resulted in eight years of the best stock market performance this country has ever seen, enjoyed record lows in unemployment - the list goes on and on. And let's not forget the massive financial surplus this we had in our treasury when Bill Clinton left office, the same surplus that was quickly turned into a multi billion (trillion?) dollar deficit by Bush and his accomplices with their misguided war on Iraq. I read recently that due to the irresponsible borrowing to finance the war and the unfair tax cuts for the richest one percent of US citizens, our government could pay back, primarily to the Chinese and Japanese, 200 billion dollars a year forever, yes forever, and our debt would still not be repaid due to the interest. Pretty scary, huh? Especially coming from the GOP, the party of "financial responsibility." The best thing that could happen right now in this country is if Congress would grow the courage to impeach Bush and his band of thieves and then try them for their crimes. They all belong in jail -
    or worse.

Please don't confuse this fool with facts, he's in deep enough already. What kind of person would knowingly send those to die in for a cause that never existed? What kind of person would send soldiers to die in order to get the essential votes of the mouth-breathing ultra morons of the far right? It's all about oil. cheney would sink a well through JFK's grave if he thought he could make a profit.

  • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 06/28/2008 9:32:46 AM

Retired Marine is absolutely correct. Those who have not served in the military have no rights. No freedom of speech. When you come right down to it no right to live.

On the other hand those who have served like Retired Marine have every right to breathe through their mouths. every right to be semi-literate. every right to store their heads up ole rushbo's butt. every right to vote for McCain, a man who would send young women and men to Iraq to die in a phony war cooked up by the gang of 5. Every right to idolize the gang of 5, Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice and Rumsfeld.

Every right to knowingly send soldiers to their deaths in Iraq.

That is the bill of rights for the idiots that make up the ultraa right wing of the GOP. that 23% of the American people that would use any one or any thing that would profit them personally.

bikerjimjr: Thank you! I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that there is somebody out there with the same misgivings that I have about this man. In my opinion his entire life has been about selfishness and pride. He continued his hard line antics while in POW custody instead of coming home to his first wife when she was hospitalized near death and then permanently disabled and still had young children to raise. He pursued Cindy even while he was still married and directly shunned his responsibilities as a husband to a disabled woman who waited for him to come home from Viet Nam as well as his obligation to the children he had adopted and fathered all in pursuit of his "lost youth". He continues to have no problem with subjecting his wife and children to the torturous scrutiny of a press that has few if any scruples even when they tell him point-blank that they don't want to go down this road. I don't think RetiredMarine - or, indeed, anyone - ought to talk about the "sacrifices" that one makes when they serve in connection with John McCain when his entire life has been about serving only one person - himself.

After reading this article, I cannot help but think that this is how Mr. McCain is going to want to run our country. From a distance with little involvement. I am reading this article and my heart breaks for a mother that had several miscarrages with out her husband there, children raised without their father there full time and a familiy raised by a "single" mom, in essence. How can a man that wishes to be president say that he cares about this country when he wasn't even there for his family. I realize that there are always details that the public does not know, but this man's life is very public. I feel that he should have thought about his priorities of having a family and having a political career, and integrated the two much better or just not had one or the other. It does not matter that Mrs. McCain has wealth. Money does not raise good children, nor does running the country. All credit to Mrs. McCain for how her children turned out.

The comment trashing the McCains is so full of trash that any intelligent person can see the motivation for posting it. Go talk amongst your liberal friends about how you will defend your race-bating candidate about all their black theologian white hating friends they have consorted with for over 20 years. We can all be concerned about how many of them will be appointed to the cabinet if he and Michelle end up in thewhitehouse house

lemmefred that is still no excuse to do what Cindy did, stealing from the same nonprofit group she was working with does not excuse ANYTHING !!!! When you are an addict it doesn't matter where you are from how many people you have adopted Which by the way that is a good mentor for that child to show how to becoem an addict .. Running a company? Honey people do it everyday where are you under a rock and not knowing these things ??? I wonder if they have covered up the fact that she could have stole from her own company to get her fix .. there are tooooooo many factors here love Stop covering up for her

    • Posted By: winemaster2 @ 06/23/2008 6:52:44 PM

Cindy's old man, was a felon, with Arizona / Las Vegas Mafia connection. He took a dive for his boss and served tine in the slammer. For keeping his mouth shut and for being a stand up Guy he was rewarded the Beer Distributorship, that bankrolled McCain's first Congressional campaign. To that Charles Keating the other Felon was also a big contributor. The plot thickens. On top of it all Mcain dicthed a crippled wife with three kids to mary a rich rodeo queen. Some code of conduct he adhered to.
Should any body also forget that his mentor was Senator John Tower, the boozer and womanizer, who directed McCain's political career. Get real people.... McCain is nothing but a first class SOB with not but preferential treatment all his life. The George W, Bush insulted McCain's adopted poor kid as a bastard from McCain's affair with a black woman and the coward is kissing the Bushee ass. Some code of conduct by the fake war hero.

mr. winemiser you are a total ASS----. calling a decorated war hero FAKE. Have you ever served your country Pr---?? Keep your stupid comments for the rest of the Socialists in your crowd. Cindys father was one of the most respected men in this country. To call him a felon is slander and of course you hide behind the agreement. I woul;d love to see you up close Mr. assh---.

Hey conservative republican red neck.... perhaps Cindy's old man a felon, who record is varified by the Arizona Republic send you a couple of cases of free bud light to brain wash you.

I am so impressed with this woman. A wife , a mother, a humanitarian, a business leader, a complete example of womanhood. Her humility gives her a feminine grace that is perfectly balanced with an equal amount of prowess. A powerful example for anyone, male or female.

    • Posted By: winemaster2 @ 06/28/2008 8:26:53 AM

Cindy McCain is no angle and nor is her past heritage. For starters she was a rich rodeo queen 17 years younger then McCain, who ditched his crippled wife with three kids to marry her so that her Arizona /Las Vegas Mafia connected father could bank roll McCain's first Congressional campaign. The facts are already establised by the Arizona Republic news papers that Cindy's father was a felon, who took a dive and kept his mouth shut and as a favor his boss rewarded him with a Bud Beer Distributor ship that was a part of the larger Liq." United Liq Empire" in the South West.

John S. McCain II is not a cadet at the Naval Academy. He is a Midshipman at the Naval Academy. If he went to the US Military Academy he would be a cadet.
