To rwethereyet: Cindy McCain will make us proud? For stealing painkillers from her non-profit, intended for the children she was supposedly saving? For being a stay-at-home-mom who needs pet projects that aid the "disadvantaged" in the developing world in order to distract her from the mundane life of lunching with other Stepford Wives? For providing cosmetic surgery to children around the world, when people can't get clean water or enough food to survive? For using her inheritance to help pay for her husband's political ascendancy? Or, for being such a wonderful role model for ambitious young women who want to be more than housewives???

Cindy McCain was caught stealing drugs from her own company! All she got was a slap on the wrist, had to go to drug rehab, and had to pay back the money for all the drugs she had stolen. And of course the employee that discovered what she was doing, was fired. Wouldn't she make a wonderful first lady! She will fit right in with all the crooks in Washington

I HATE NEWSWEEK !!! I can't believe how biased they are towards the Republican Party and John McCain. Can you believe this powder puff piece? I thought Holly Bailey was going to grant her sainthood. Newsweek has their collective noses so far up McCain's @ss it is ridiculus.

Onepoker, you don't know what you're talking about, and you obviously do not live in Arizona. Yes, first time offenders do go to jail here often. I will agree that being married to John McCain was not her ticket out, however. I suspect it was because of the millions Daddy had that gave her the get out of jail ticket.

And as for moral integrity? Excuse me, John McCain was married at the time he courted the then Cindy Hensley. He dumped his first wife after she had a disfiguring accident from which she has never recovered. Cindy was rich and 18 years his junior. Shame on him, yes, but also shame on her.

She resorted to stealing drugs from a nonprofit medical relief charity, the American Voluntary Medical Team. When Cindy McCain publicly revealed her addiction, years after she had proclaimed sobriety, and after county investigative materials were made public, she stated she hoped it would give fellow drug addicts courage in their struggles. She later issued a statement: "Although my conduct did not result in compromising any missions of AMVT (her charity organization), my actions were wrong, and I regret them,". A few weeks later, the Variety Club of Arizona had to cancel its Humanitarian of the Year Award dinner in her honor because of poor ticket sales.[7] Her activities also violated federal statutes, so a federal investigation was also performed. McCain's defense team secured an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's office that was limited to financial restitution and treatment for her drug addiction. At the time, legal experts told the Phoenix New Times that had she not been married to John, she likely would have been sentenced to federal prison. Tom Gosinski, the director of government and international affairs for the American Voluntary Medical Team, who tipped off the DEA to investigate Cindy's drug theft, also accused Cindy of asking him to lie concerning her drug use when the McCains were applying to adopt a baby from Bangladesh.

So she group up super rich and has a charity that gives to the poor. Don't all super rich people have charities that give to the poor to reduce their tax bases? Since she's not running for President and will be pretty busy with her current duties chairman of the family business I don't see the point of articles about the wives of Presidents.

Let's face the truth. The Obmas, the gruesome twosome, are racist. No question about it. The comments they have made, the associates they have, the church they attend (which they quit AFTER it was not longer politically expedient to attend there).. Cindy McCain is a lady of substance. She is coiffed, reserved, respected and loved. Even Mother Therese recognized her fine qualities in helping the poor, the needy and those with health problems. The McCains took a baby to raise, I believe from Ethiobia. She has charm and she has wit. There is nothing phony about Cindy McCain. She is the Genuine thing. This First lady to be...couldn't be more elegant.

You don't have to look long or hard to find Cindy McCain because she isn't cloaked in a shroud or hiding in covert darkness not proud of her country. This title for an article sounds theatrical but when you read about "Barbie Doll McCain" you find she is a business woman, Wife, and Mother and much more.

In some ways she reminds me of the good in Princess Diane, Audrey Hepburn, and Sister Theresa all in one. Cindy McCain is a real lady and in no need of make believe makeovers and speech lessons to curb the use of ill conceived words to guard against uncivil disobedience and character flaws such as fist butts (new version of high fives my lily whitey a$$). Michelle Obama can shop at K-Mart and lie through her big overbite (jawbone structure) white teeth it won't compare well at all to real ladies like Laura Bush, or Cindy McCain. Secret or mystical handshakes of the sisterhood and brotherhood partially stemmed from a clandestine night leading to "The Civil War" when Nat Turner (black) and his fellow killers (black) held a covert meeting in a church under the pretense of having a freemason (free masons - duh no way) meeting at Martha's Vineyard on Kennedy property. They met alright and fanned out to kill property owners (not slave owners) men, women, and children (infants included). Nat Turner heard a child crying and knew they had missed a child and sent one of his men back to kill the crying infant. My point is that whie I don't especially agree with everything John McCain and Cindy McCain represents I know a great deal about them that I do like and the opposite is the case for Barrack Hussein Obama Kennedy and Michelle (My Belle) Obama Kennedy. I think I could grow to love and respect Cindy McCain just as I do Laura Bush. The mistakes and weaknesses of the McCains have been exposed and aired extensively in the media, and this is not true of "My Belle" Obama and Barrack Hussein Obama Kennedy. Cindy McCain is now and has always been proud of her country (even foul mouth crude old veterans of foreign wars like me that shouldn't sit in the same room with a lady of her gentleness and kindness). This presidential race is getting rough and nasty and the 527's and others must join forces to do the dirty fighting for McCain because he doesn't have it in him to slam a fellow American even one hiding under the cloak of a demon posing as the messiah.

So how many of the commentators here have EVER managed a company? Adopted a child? Raised several children? Ran a charity? Went to poor nations to help solve health problems? Stayed with their spouse for 30 years? You people are a bunch of bitter, losers who have nothing to do but complain and tear people down. Everyone has had their share of challenges- look in the mirror and ask yourself what have you done to make a better planet.

At least she is honest and doesn't lie about past. Better yet, at least she has a political past with her husband. Obama has done what? Oh yeah, nothing! Preaching change, change, change. Anybody got a clue who he is?

It is an interesting comment that she said ???Over the 28 years of her often long-distance marriage to Capt. John McCain, USN (Ret.), she says she thought of herself as a Navy wife whose husband was off on tour???albeit on Capitol Hill instead of somewhere in the North Atlantic.???

John McCain retired in 1981, he married Cindy in 1980, that makes only 1 year that he was in the Navy married to her???

He left his original wife for Cindy, the one that had waited for him while he was in captivity, and had been with him from 1967-1980, 13 years.
