You do the common -- even vulgar -- thing of misappropriating Orwell. George Orwell would have been not proud but horrified and greatly saddened. His life's work was about warning humanity of the need to resist totalitarian dictatorships and the bloodless abstract ideologies under which dictatorial brutality find cover to operate. Orwell was one of the great humanitarians of history. I do not doubt that Orwell would be disturbed by much that goes on today in the world, including in U.S. politics most definitely including the parties and operatives of the left.

Mugabe is a horror show, of that there is no doubt for anyone concerned with democracy and civil rights. We should ask ourselves, what's next? Unauthorized wire-tapping? Access to personal financial information? Manipulation of the media? Lying to the public? Unlimited detentions without trial? Wait. Isn't there someone else who does that?

"Let a hundred flowers bloom" Mao Tse Tung. Watching history repeat itself sure can be stomach turning.

Not for anything, but isn't Mugabe dressed like a Rap Star? And what's with the "Talking Fist". This man is full of hate and anger. Kind of strange to be this way after running a country for 20+ years, isn't it? Obviously, it is time for this lunatic to go. Shouldn't South Africa do something? I say this in advance...Why does it always have to be US?

What are those Zimbabwean dollars printed on? Do the have a $1 Zimbabwean note? At 10 billion to one, I'm thinking I could heat my house for a couple of years by burning about $1 US Dollars worth. Does the Zimbabwean National Bank deliver, or do I have to go there and pick them up?

The photo is wrongly tagged as that of Tsvangirai. It is actually Mugabe's (see the party tags on his cuff and collar).

Mugabe ought not to hold power by force as he asserts by saying he will do so until "God" asks him otherwise. Here is what he needs to do. He needs to step aside as majority of the people in Zimbabwe says it is time for Mugabe to go. I believe people in that country are held hostages by his brutality and the African Union and other African organization along with the United Nation do put strong objections to the behavior of Mugabe and his Junta.
It needs to be a concerted effort by all the major players in that region including South Africa. It is a shame that this country having been fought the Apartheid for over 30 some odd years and not objecting to Mugabe???s behavior. Taho Mbeki must put pressure on this dictatorial Government of Mugabe and show some leadership in this crisis.

It is not good for Zimbabwe and most of all, it is not good for the South African region per say. One way to look at the over influx of refugee inflow to its neighbor countries which is detrimental to not only for South Africa but every country in that region.
They must not only slap with severe economic sanctions but must also curtail military support to Mugabe's Government. Perhaps, that will work in the long run. In the mean time Morgan Tsvangirai should marshal his opposition against Mugabe and ask for support from other internationals organizations for the struggle of Democratic movement in Zimbabwe
