Comment: The people of Zimbabwe chose Mugabe for something like 25 years. They let him believe he would be in power forever. Now they think they can take it away from him? Hah! They didn't have a problem with him when he was killing and stealing the land of the white farmers that kept Africa fed. They didn't have a problem with his corruption or his stance on Aids (which contributed to the deaths of God knows how many). So someone explain to me why I should care? As far as I am concerned this is a case of, "You made your bed, now lie on it".

Frankly I'm sick and tired of the American news media trying to make me feel like everything that happens on the African continent is my fault somehow. I'm tired of the news media trying to make me feel as if, by living a decent life, I somehow owe people who solve their proplems with violence on a regular basis.

And am I the only person in the world who believes that food aid to Africa (for the last 100 years) HASN'T helped???? Maybe, just maybe, if we all pulled out and left the Africans to their own devices, they might figure out that farming is more important than killing. But hey, who am I to argue with 100 years of total, absolute, unmitigated failure?

Comment: The politicians can say what they like, but women are being sex-offended, raped, and exploited by government-military organizations who are giving the power to these people to do these offenses while establishing control, and there is no protection for these people because the governments are choosing to protect themselves over protecting their people. Much of this is the responsibility of the governments who hire people with controlling yet deceitful personalities, and them give them big weapons and put them in positions of power to govern over their victims mercilessly because they thrive on the power over their victim, and until laws are enacted that protect the rights of those who have no voice, those that sit on the bottom, there will be no end to the violence, and the controlling people will rule without honesty, because they only thrive on control..... not morality............ and justice for the true victims will take a second seat. It happens in our own country as well.......rather than say the right thing, I think it is about time I start seeing for myself just what is being done, if anything at all, besides rhetoric..........skd500

Comment: Ending the concept of naked aggression is the best way to stop war. If there is no war, there will not be any need to wonder how to stop one weapon.

Comment: The U.N. talks a good game. And the article discusses what "should" be done about U.N. workers who have committed sexual offenses. Maybe the U.N. should start the discussion by telling us what "has" been done about perpetrators in places besides Liberia.. The U.N. is a disgrace.

Comment: How convenient that Dr. Rice has left out the sexual violence towards women perpetrated by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Could that be because the United States hasn't done such a good job of helping to combat it?
