Amazing. The pro-life people want to save life and the dems want to kill babies but complain about a war which is saving our lives, and don't want to execute baby rapists and murderers. Something wrong with that picture. obama said he would have his daughters kill his grand children if they were an inconvience.
And he is for the people????? Give me a break. Well, maybe that was just another lie or mis-speak out of his mouth.
So far his policies are tax us to high heaven, tax and regulate business so we have less jobs.
Treat terrorists like criminals. (Clinton tried that. didn't work).
Have it alright to murder our children. No one ever went to jail before Roe.
Let our borders be over run with illegals and give them free everything. We get to pay for it.
Tax the oil companies more so they can pass the costs down to us and have less to do their work with.

    Obama-the Flip Flopper
What is amazing about Obama is that he will flip flop over the course of consecutive days--as he did with the "without preconditions" argument. Or whether or not Iran is a threat. One day, it was a "small" threat. The very next day, Obama said that he had always recognized Iran as a "grave" threat.

Then his campaign will tell us what Obama really meant, which usually involves a lot of doublespeak, and vocabularly manipulation. Who knew that preconditions and preparations, for instance, mean entirely different things, but neither Obama nor his campaign can actually pinpoint the difference?

And then there's the old standby that Obama was speaking "metaphorically."

Next, the campaign will scrub the Obama website of any reference to Obama's "old" stance.

But my favorite recent Obama flip flop has to be when he said that two men heading a VP search committee for Obama did not "work for (Obama)".

But then at least one resigned the very next day. He had to resign from something--perhaps his job with the Obama campaign?

    What kind of change?
All the Obamabots that flood these comment posts, I hope you go to vote in Nov. And please be civilized if your candidate loses.

This is an opinion piece, not news. If you don't agree with it, offer your argument to the contrary. No need to call something you disagree with garbage, such term, with its "useless" connotation, might be better applied to describe Obama's false promises and empty, boastful rhetoric.

As for change, McCain has been the REAL FIGHTER FOR CHANGE all his public life... at least, for the last 25 yrs. THe record is there. He has bucked the political establishment on most of the most important and controversial issues of our time. What has Obama done, beside "SACRIFICING" one year of his youth life as a street organizer in Chicago? ALthough that was smartly planned out and he has long reaped the fruits of such an investment.

Obama = Radical Change to the extreme left.

    IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN.

  • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/26/2008 3:34:54 PM

McCain is no competition for Obama.

Obama has already won the White House. It's time for a swing to the left and little regulation, apparently, and the GOP brand is too damaged. That's the conventional wisdom, at any rate.

But fear not, the GOP will orchestrate a war with Iran just in time to save the White House for McClown, and once again the benign dictators in the GOP will smugly and self-righteously control the American image and the the policies that prolong our agony in a war that makes no sense.

Please do not vote for McClown, McCain't or whatever you want to call him - John McCain is not so much the problem -- it's the people he now represents. They are Dinosaurs of the 20th Century. Extinction is coming.

The Newsweek poll had far more to do with creating an aura of superiority for their favored candidate and selling magazines than it did with good polling techniques. The use of landlines only for polling is ridiculous on its face. Most dynamic educated, industrious people hardly use landlines anymore.

Right. They call people on dem donor lists, in dem districts, what would one expect? They ask bashing rep questions. Its a farce.
Nancy P. was on Greats show a few nights ago. Couldn't answer the questions and avoided some, said she was too busy running the House to find out if sexism was involved in the primary, changed the subject all the time and bashed Bush adm. Her botox almost cracked.
Vote straight Rep. so something can get done around here.

How about some actual investigative reporting on McCain's so-called "Hero" status?

He???ro (heer-oh) Noun - a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

OK, I get it, from October 1967, when he was shot down over North Viet Nam while on his 23rd bombing mission, and for the better part of the next 5-years John McCain was indeed a prisoner of war, and he suffered pain and humiliation that only the strongest of individuals could ever endure. I probably wouldn't have lasted a day under those horrific circumstances before turning into a whimpering pile of jelly and confessing to single-handedly planning the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Do those years of obvious Hell in North Viet Nam anoint him with the "Hero" mantel that the brown-nosing chattering heads on TV and genuflecting print media suck-ups slobberingly wrap him in?

    I for one think not!

    • Posted By: busby @ 06/26/2008 3:25:46 PM

You're right-you wouldn't have lasted a day. Who are you to judge who is a hero? Anyone who can withstand that kind of torture does not need some couch potato critiquing him. You kids will get old someday and you'll whine about the know it all, know nothing younger generation. Believe it or not. It's nature's revenge for smugness.

So lets see... we have the Rasmussen and Gallup tracking polls that have been as accurate or more accurate than most during this election season showing Obama 4 points ahead and dead even respectively. We have other polls showing Obama from 4 to 6 points ahead. Then along comes Newsweek, an organization that signed onto the Obama campaign early, and they show Obama ahead by a wopping 15 points. And right after the LA times/Bloomberg poll shows him ahead by 12. LA Times ? Another organization that signed early for the Obama campaign. Also the Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls have been showing a small decline in Obama's support at the same time that Neweek and the LA Times suddenly show this huge jump. The difference in the polls is well outside of the margins of error so either the Gallup & Rasmussen tracking as well as Fox as well as Gallup USA, all in the tie to 6 point range, are dead wrong, or the in the tank for Obama organizations at 12 & 15 are totally wrong. And Howard surely knows statistics well enough not to use the Real Clear Politics average to declare Gallup tracking an outlier. The average is 6.7% which puts Gallop tracking at a tie 6.7% points off which could indicate an outlier, but that means Newsweek is even further off at 8.3 points, but because Newsweek is so far off they are distorting the average upward. But why worry about it now....as time will surely tell....except for 1 little thing that Howard shares with us. Obama's campaign, which at this point includes the establishment media, was expecting a huge bump for Obama giving him at least a double digit lead ahead of McCain. That hasn't happened making it a little awkward for Obama with all of his recent problems to look like a sure winner and hit up Hillarys big fund raisers. So it looks like the unannounced members of his campaign are obliging him nicely by creating the bump that he expected. Surprise, Surprise!

      MEDIA BIAS? Could be.

      Media mogul Murdoch praises Obama

      EXCERPT:

The worlds most powerful media mogul and owner of *Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, the hard-line conservative Rupert Murdoch last night admitted he had told one of his publications to back Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Could this be the start of a home run for Obama?

A political communication analyst tells us why he should be wary.

CEO and chairman of News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch has a HUGE STAKE in the WORLD PRESS, including dozens of newspapers, magazines, television channels and websites.

He has been criticized for a biased and overbearing influence, especially coming from his American news channel *Fox News. In the UK, he owns almost all of the conservative written press and is thought by many to be the reason behind Tony Blair???s landslide victory in 1997. Last night, speaking at a technology conference supported by the Wall Street Journal, the media tycoon praised Barack Obama, calling him a STAR.

*SHARENEWS COMMENT: Fox News is the one news media that was designated by Murdoch to not be as biased in support of Obama. Thus, the reason why Obama supporters flipping out when they see Fox News referenced anywhere in these blogs.

Word has leaked out this morning that Powell will endorse Barack Obama.

Colin Powell is the most qualified American with regards to managing a safe and orderly withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Barack Obama has given serious VP consideration to Republican Chuck Hagel and Democrat Jim Webb because of their military and foreign policy experience. Who in America has a stronger military or foreign policy resume than Colin Powell?

Clearly his reputation among admiring Democrats was tainted by his loyalty to Bush-Cheyney-Rumsfeld's deceitful march to war, but he regained his dignity by resigning from his post before Bush's second term. This was America's first major sign of internal dissent regarding Bush's foreign policy. Powell on the ticket would aggravate some, but also attract many.

It would be poetic justice for Powell to re-emerge on the political scene as part of the team that knocked the Republicans out of the White House.

If we truly lived in a post-racial society, Colin Powell would be a stronger consideration for Obama's VP spot. Are we there yet? It's an interesting thought. But because of his UN War speech, I doubt that Senator Obama is going to select him for that position.

Obama should poll Moveon to see if they can stomach the Obama-Powell'08 idea (just kidding... no, seriously, wink-wink).

Nonetheless, having Colin Powell campaign for Senator Obama will be a tremendous asset, and will create more headaches for John McCain. President Obama will benefit from using General Powell's advice when he implements his Iraq withdrawal strategy.

    • Posted By: lamm01 @ 06/26/2008 10:57:08 AM

Colin Powell lost all credibility when he lied to everyone about WMD's. And of course, it's not a matter of who's is the best candidate, it's all about race....

Of course its all about race. Why else to do you think he will get the nomination in Denver. They are all scared to death of a race riot in Denver if they don't. Wouldn't make them look very good.
Obama could select OJ, Wright, Sharpton, Ayers,Jackson, Farrakahn or any radical, skip the convention,
move in to the White house In January, and call it the New Hood and the Bomma maniacs would think its the greatest thing that ever happened. Stupid does as stupid is.

OMG, the US is the ONLY country in the world that actually sees McCain as a viable candidate. It's not that world leaders don't respect him; it's just the Obama is clearly the superior, original, unique and intelligent candidate that they are hoping the US public will have the sense and brains to elect. He's someone special, and if we do elect him, especially by a huge margin, it would do worlds of credibility for us with the rest of the world. It would bring us back "into the fold" once again as an outstanding world leader - a populace that the rest of the world can respect and feel warmly toward.

Please do not elect Mr. McCain- he's a great person, a respected war hero, and a seasoned pol, but his sun is setting and so is that of his party. It's time for our political landscape to get a big influx of new and future leaders, with some powerful ideas to move us beyond the Oil Era and into a world where there is more than just one big world leader - where the limelight is shared by several major countries.

out with the old, stale phony posturing of the GOP -that smug self-righteousness that gives us a terrible reputation for arrogance and ignorance overseas. Let's make amends for 8 years of Bush and elect someone truly representative of our great nation: Obama.

    • Posted By: Genevieve01 @ 06/26/2008 9:07:39 AM

You are not keeping up with the news. The entire world does not see Sen. Obama as the most viable candidate. European nations are shifting towards a more conservative approach with all of the problems they have going on. Maybe Americans should take a closer look at what has failed in Europe?
Sen. McCain has discussed using alternative forms of fuel but is realistic enough to know that it will take decades to transition this entire country. Until then we need to do something about the escalating oil prices. Can you say $10/gallon under Sen. Obama and at the mercy of OPEC? Yes, I am sure the OPEC cartel countries will view the U.S. really favorably at that point.

And that is why Americans have to do what is best for us and this country and not worry about how others view us or like us.

P.S. When you have a little time, read up on Ireland and how it is booming, and what policies it is following and how it will not go along with the agreements of the European Community.

      • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/26/2008 3:20:22 PM

Perhaps you forget, or don't know, that the most "conservative" Europeans are closer to our own "liberals" than they are to our "conservatives" - most of the rest of the world sees Obama as the superior, more exciting and more intelligent candidate.

Even our own conservatives are swaying toward him somewhat... McCain and the current Republican party represent a dying breed, thanks to the damage Bush has done to the party during these last eight years. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Change is in the air - for both parties. Europe and the rest of the world can hardly wait. And Obama is going to win the White House, mark my words.

  • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 06/26/2008 11:21:54 AM

The polls indicating Americans are very disappointed in the Democratic Congress goes ignored! Strange? Or typical of Liberals in the news media? The congress has had dismal approval numbers! Lower than Bush (the DNC Congress is more toxic that Bush.)
The BIG POLL and only one that matters will come in November and Obama will be chained to his party's report card...wether he thinks it's fair or not! And time is going by faster than the Congress can move up from "F+" to respectable "C" or above, among the American people.
Maybe it's "commanded" that the congress's repot card doesn't matter, and won't matter in October and November.
Heaven forbid any Liberal go against what-is-commanded or even question who made the command!
The American Liberals and Obama suporters will simply agree:That report card doesn't count... that report card doesn't count... that report card of the Congress doesn't count, as McCain stumbles on, and right into the White House.
Not a great win for Republicans. A stupid lose for the DNC, because no one will command the DNC Congressmen to do a better job!
When you're supporting them you say "yes!" and so not become The Boss who says "GET TO WORK!"
McCain doesn't have anything to worry about. And McCains' scandals are all behind him, now. and out of the way.
It's a long way to November.

    • Posted By: amendment2man @ 06/26/2008 11:32:12 AM

Happy: more of the truth has been spoken. The press has deliberately dismissed the dem congress's poor performance(or no performance at all) as they have done NOTHING. Poor Bush gets the blame for everything when the congress's approval ratings are ridicoulously low.

in my opinion Pelosi is a reprehensible individual with only herself in mind. they are the ones responsible for the financials of this country and yet they do nothing. they are truly a "do nothing congress" and the backlash will occur no matter who is president.

      • Posted By: DesertStormVet @ 06/26/2008 11:44:38 AM

At some point you people are going to actually going to learn that even though the Democrats have a slight majority in Congress they still don't have enough seat's to override a Republican fillibuster or veto! As long as every Republican in Congress rides Bush's "slow train to hell" the Democrat's still have their hand's tied. None of the Republican Congressman have the ball's to vote against Bush because they know he will throw them under the bus along with Valerie Plame and everyone else. Once Bush is out there will be an actual congress that will work for us and not corporate america! Do some research people!

        • Posted By: Givemeabreak @ 06/26/2008 3:18:49 PM

What a bunch of cry-babies. Unless you've got 100% of the Congress and the Presidency, the Democratic party is powerless to make change? Wow. I wonder how far that argument would go if the army claimed the reason it lost battles is because it didn't control 100% (or 2/3) of the battlefield assets? Anybody can win with an overwhelming superiority. Real Winners win with even odds or from behind.
Actually, you had Democratic majorties in the House from 1955-1995 and Senate Democratic Majorities in the same time period (except 1981-87). During those 40 years, , we had JFK/LBJ and got Vietnam, with Carter we got..... stagflation, humiliation, hostage crisis, etc. Unfortunately, the argument that "if we only had Congress and the White House, THEN we'd make some changes" just doesn't hold up well, does it? Who was "tying" the Democrat's hands then? Unfortunately, nobody

So convenient to always have a scapegoat. I hope you guys remember to elect one token Republican to your Congress to continue to have someone to blame when you fail.

PS - Nins, it seems to me that our Senate is the only government in the world still questioning the underlying supply-demand fundamentals of petroleum. The UK gets it, and nobody there is accusing the market of "speculation" - to me, this reads as just another delay and subterfuge as our politictians struggle to appear proactive on prices at the pump. It's b.s., in other words. We are the biggest gas guzzlers in the world - in a few years' time, $4/gallon is going to seem like heaven compared with what's coming if we don't find alternatives to fuel our transportation needs. We should be conserving petroleum not wasting time messing around doing nothing and making a lot noise doing it! - as is happening in the Senate.

    • Posted By: AmeriKhan Lobo @ 06/26/2008 1:10:36 AM

You forget that the UK is paying 3 times the amount of $$ per gallon of gas than the US. I don't see how you think they "get it"

      • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 06/26/2008 3:17:00 PM

Their leaders aren't accusing the market of "speculation" - they "get" the global supply peak. We're peaking out on oil worldwide, and it's just the beginning of increased prices. That's something our leaders are still avoiding telling us - they've got absolutely no control over this as long as we Americans consume the largest share of the petroleum pie in the world's total consumption patterns.

Polls can be rigged and it is prett clear yours is. In articles where your poll is listing Obama as having a 15 point lead polls were taken right iwithin the article asking who people preferred and John Mc'Cain won by over 15%. You fail to ever mention that. Also, just about every article I see in your magazine favors Obama. Why does the AOL straw poll (hundreds of thousands of voters) show John McCain in the lead? Why do other polls besides yours show them dead even? We are not stupid and voters (except those who WANT to believe your poll know that it is full o f ****.

For starters, how about using the FISA courts, which is something this Orwellian administration insisted on getting away from.

Or, maybe it's getting away from torturing people, which is something McCain was against, but now has caved into this administration demands.

Or, maybe it's pushing for alternative fuels and getting away from the days where oil companies have their very own pages in the tax codes.

      The list goes on ...

While Obama indeed may not be perfect by his own admission and wisely so, but, decent and compassionate he is. McDead Brain left his suffering and disabled wife who was seriously injured in an automobile accident for the much younger and much richer woman whose now his wife. Scared of townhall meetings because he wouldn't get soft and fuzzy questions from the liberal press.
Broke his word on campaign financing. I could only HOPE he would break his word on all the other stupid ass ideas he has in his head. But, being a puppet of the Pelosi gang he will have to do what they say.

Yep, Obama is out there begging Hill and Bill to help him. No way. They might help but the voters won't.
The historians will write the books and have Bush as one of the greatest Presidents we've had.
The war will be ended when the other guys quit. Americans think in short time. Radical muslims think in centuries.
The "me want, me want" babies are in for a big shock in real life.

Who cares about Polls... I deal in real-time trends and the vibe in the streets is for OBAMA... The Rich HedgeFund guys in my office like him... The the International Owners, like Obama... The Investment Bankers love him... The hourly workers can't wait for him... The only break that Mc'CAINT got in my office (750+) was with the pretentious salaried-workers (who are primarily white, from 28 - 52, 65% self-deemed republicans)... THE FUNNY THING IS THAT MC'CAINT ONLY MANAGED TO APPEAL TO 70% OF THOSE THAT CONSIDER THEMSELVES REPUBLICANS WHILE OBAMA HAD 92% OF SO-CALLED DEMOCRATS...

OBAMA WILL BE THE "INEXPERIENCED NEWCOMER" WHO WILL WIN BY THE GREATEST MARGIN IN US POLITICS...

I guess we had better get our "FIST BUMPS" DOWN...

So, to those that don't want to look like a total fool or trouble-maker... BE SURE TO VOTE OBAMA...

ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN "willnotvoteforobama"... YES... Even you to, CAN CHANGE!!! If we can change this counrty, then I am sure that with an Excorcist, a Shrink and a good Minister (Rev. Wright of course), YOU TO CAN BE REPENTANT OF YOUR WICKED WAYS ;)

Polls don't mean much this early on. Some people "leaning:" towards one candidate or another may change their mind. One thing is certain though. Ever since Hillary dropped out, both candidates are running TERRIBLE campaigns. McCain comes across as an out of touch, right wing appeasing, old- fashioned, loyal Bushy republican. Obama's arrogance has mushroomed since the primary season ended, and he has made no overt effort to win over Hillary supporters. He just assumes democrats will unite no matter what he says or does. Let's hope both candidates give us substance. By November we're all going to be exhausted and disgusted if this keeps up.

Obama is so arrogant he said we just need to "get over it". I'm over it. I resigned from the Democratic party and will be campaignment for John McCain. I never did like Obama. I think he will fulfill his promise of change for this country but it will not be the change that his supporters are expecting. It will be the end of America as we know it - and not in a good way. Just get prepared to bow down five times a day.

I have to agree with News and Notes on the one point that polls don't mean too much. Anyone who lets a poll influence how or why they vote isn't voting for any reason. The implication that any poll saying one thing or another is going to change the issues that lie before us and our individual stance on those issues is ludacrous. For those Hillary supporters that just can't get past the fact that she lost the primary, do you honestly believe that Hillary herself would want you to switch sides and vote for a candidate who is so polar opposite from the stances she took in the primary? If that's what you truly think, then so be it. My only suggestion would be that you take your civic responsibility more seriously. The democratic candidates were generallly similar in many of the key issues facing this nation. This is not the case between the democratic and republican candidates. Try to see past your own disappointment to vote respondibly. If Obama had lost I can honestly say I would have voted for Hillary because her views on the key issues were the closest to mine. If it is impossible for you to see past your own irratation with Obama and you must vote for McCain, then do so. It's your vote and no poll or journalist is going to sway you to change your conception of what this election means to you. If you have issues with Obama, again, so be it, but have the decency to not continue to spread lies and diliberate misinformation in the process. The direct insinuation by LuLuBelle that if Obama wins we'll somehow all be forced to become Muslim is absurd and plays to people's irrational fears of anything different. As someone with no religious affiliation, I've spent my entire life dealing with people of Christian or Catholic affiliation trying to dictate how this country is run, but somehow that's okay, because it's your religion. The rule of separation of church and state was put in place a long, long time ago. And it needs to be followed more closely. This is not, nor should it ever be, a country run as a theocracy.

At the end of the day, a poll will not affect how you vote if you're voting on the issues facing us as a nation. Would you choose not to vote if your candidate was down by a few percentage points, no. Regardless of anyone's attempts to sway, manipulate, conjole or persuade the citizens of this country, we can only hope for a fair and uncorrupt election. Vote using your head and your conscience. This isn't a popularity contest be any means. The entire world will have to live, and die, with the consequences. This is a responsibility, not a decision to be made out of spite or contempt. Remember, this country hasn't hit rock bottom yet and I don't think any of us really wants to see how far down that might be.

so you are saying they both suck.

Vote for Mccain he sucks less!

      • Posted By: Nins @ 06/26/2008 10:34:36 AM

"McCain -- he sucks less" say both Amendmentman and NewsandNotes

McCain, he sucks less than having your fingernails pulled out with pliers

He sucks the SAME as having you son come home in a body bag

        • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/26/2008 10:47:12 AM

I didn't say McCain sucked less.

        • Posted By: amendment2man @ 06/26/2008 10:43:57 AM

I think Mccain is probably familiar with the fingernail treatment. obama thinks its a manicure in obvious metrosexual fashion.

at least I can have some respect for a guy that has been under such stress(Mccain) the most stress you pansy candidate has had is if his appointment for manicure was rescheduled. what an empty proposition obama is. this is why Mccain sucks less. Oh BTW why do you not use actual facts rather than emotionally based appeals such as the above imagery.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 06/26/2008 10:18:43 AM

        Yes, they both suck.

I live in KY and work in OH. I run into nobody who is supporting Obama. Amongst ourselves we sort of have to whisper about our support for McCain. Many are terribly afraid of being called racist for not supporting the Democrats' new Messiah -- the annointed one: Barack H. Obama.

I listened with amusement to the coverage of Ralph Nader's comments last night. Obama doesn't talk black enough, he said. He is appealing to white guilt. Everyone reacted with shock and horror. How sad and delusional Nader is.

To think he suggested the emperor has no clothes!

I wonder how big the Bradley effect will be. As Maine goes . . . ?

    • Posted By: yorkielover2 @ 06/26/2008 11:57:28 AM

Then there are the people like me...a Republican in Florida with all Republican friends....that tell their Republican friends that they are voting for McCain to keep the peace but are going to vote for Obama in November.

      • Posted By: Pete Kent @ 06/26/2008 2:54:20 PM

Whyever would you be embarassed to say you were voting for him?

    • Posted By: amendment2man @ 06/26/2008 11:59:19 AM

The effect is like a high school lunch table an just as mature. Have the courage to support Mccain, it shows that you are not sheeplike and value your own opinion therby making others feel the same.

people only hear what they want to hear.
