B.O. (Pee U) is nothing more than Jimmuh Carter 30 years later!
B.O. (Pee U) is nothing more than Jimmuh Carter 30 years later!
Lets see, in the naval academy McCain ranked 894 out of a class of 899. Carter ranked 59 out of a class of 820. So if your point was Obama is smarter then McCain, then I would have to agree.
Cute little trick

Comment: People like you are uniformed, ridulous and just make me laugh. That technology is YEARS away from being effectivew for the typical US consumers needs. Also BIG OIL did not stop anay technology. The World is too small a place now. Can you imagine the RICHES ANYONE would get that could solve our energy CRISIS? There are Dozens of Dozens of countries and companies that Are working on the solution and would LOVE to amrket it once they have it. It (the solution) just hasn't been developed, YET. Use some common intelligence.
BIG OIL Has Bought off the Government over the years , to manipulate the Energy markets , just like the Multi-national Retailers like all the marts , have manip0ulated Trade Policies too , be able to dominate the Free markets with production in lower manipulated Currency Countries like in Asia , too be able to have products made at 10 cents on the dollar and Import tarriff Free back into the Higher Priced Currency markets , with volume production to saturate the markets a nd therefore be dominate in their Capacity of sales . this trend over time wiped out the small Business sector of the Mom and pop store era , which was the time when America had a Well diverse Wealth redistribution , and Tax revenue that support the Community level of infrustructure requirements .
Too bad you cut this part of my comments off in YOUR veiled (and untruthful) response:
And to those of you that say drilling is old technology and we have the solutions NOW... Get real, do you know WHAT RICHES would be available to a person or even company (such as GE that IS working on alternative solution, they have one of the largest land based energy plants R&D in the World in North Carolina (Turbine generators and WINDMILLS). Whatever company developed such a solution would make Bill Gates LOOK LIKE A PAUPER... Please use even one brain cell....

Comment: Check out fuelcells.org. Those alternative energy sources that you think needs to be developed, were developed over thirty years ago. But thanks to big oil companies buying out patents on alternative fuels to ward of competition, people like yourself are stuck arguing what equates to the model-T when it comes to energy.
You know this type of action , along with the mergers of Government and Corporate inflence of trade policy over the years , is a act of fascism
Amen... What scares me is this countries future. The EU just approved 1.5 billion dollars (matched by other companies) to push out the infrastructure required to have highways and service stations that are needed for hydrogen cars. While our country is having the old "Taste great, less filling" argument between environmentalist and oil companies. If our country doesn't wake up soon, we're going to look like the next "Bagdad Bob" of the world.
Grown up?? Maybe for 40 years ago! All oil drilling offshore will do is ruin our planet MORE!! The oil companies now have the opportunity to drill where they already have rights, but all they want is more!! The only reason they haven't put down more rigs is to keep the price up...DUHHHH! And couldn't you just see everyone with electric cars-how the price of that utility would rise!! We need alternative energy plans and the jobs that they would provide. Have you ever noticed that MCSHAME never says how he's going to pay for his plans; that's because DUHHHHHHHHHHHH, it will be the middle class again who pays for any of his ideas!! If all you want is psychological help, just remember what your paycheck (if you get one) will look like when he gets in office!! OBAMA '08, THE ONLY WAY!!!!!!!!
2 points:
1) NOT drilling will bankrupt our country, and ruin the planet even more than drilling. Not drilling will keep the pace of American Energy development at a snails pace and further delay the process of converting to new technology. Like it or not, revenue from oil is the primary funding for alternative energy. The EPA stands in the way of the very revenue stream necessary to develop the technology for their own cause.
2) You are wrong on the reason oil companies are not drilling. The reason they haven't put down more rigs is because of all the red tape and environmental regulation, it takes 7 years to get a stupid permit to even start the process of going for the oil. By the time they are allowed to go, there is not enough time left on their 10 year lease to make it cost effective to drill.
To use your term--DUHHHHH! If you don't like the pace of development of alternatives, stop blaming the government. The blame lies with us, the American public. We have had 50 MPG cars available since the 70's, but we don't buy them. As consumers, we have been far more interested in more power than we are in economy. What kind of car have you been driving for the last 30 years??? But now that we are slapped up side the head, everyone wants to blame the government and big oil for their own irresponsibility. Thanks for the lecture, but next time please lecture the one in the mirror.
As for paying for the ideas, most of us don't need an explanation that the revenue for the energy increases McCain is proposing will come from the sale of the energy. This plan will drive energy costs down for the American people, and will provide increased revenue for development of alternative energy sources.
"Have you ever noticed that MCSHAME never says how he's going to pay for his plans....because DUHHHHHHHHHHHH, it will be the middle class again who pays for any of his ideas!!"
On the topic of nationalized healthcare, just put Hu**ein's name in place of McShame and your statement will still hold true. I'll let you decide which will cost the middle class more.
Incubus67. Technicially, your comment is true: "cow manure, sugar, corn, wind, switchgrass, solar, none of that is enough for our thirst for energy." This would beg the question of whether we can reduce our thirst: i.e. CAFE standards, efficient buildings. combine this with limited incentives for alternative energy sources. Incentives shoudl be result-based and should not choose the technology: that is what the free market is for. Also, notice you left out coal from your list of energy sources. Anyone living in America who fails to mention coal as an energy source is as blind as a bat. There are several ways to clean up coal-fired power generation and we have more of it than any country in the world. Get real. Also, you state "we must drill". Well, we are drilling with vigor. don't play the victim card. We need innovation on a national scale.
"Well, we are drilling with vigor."
BTW, we are not drilling with vigor, far from it. The Terminator here in Cal said there will not be any offshore drilling here. The 1989 bill signed by Bush Senior prohibited any offshore drilling in Cal, Fl and NE. The only place where we are drilling offshore is the Gulf.
I left out coal intentionally because the Obama supporters don't see that as an alternative. To them, coal is more evil than oil. Yes, I know coal is a very reliable source of energy, but can you convince the lefties that. I worked in the first coal gasification plant in Beulah, ND during the Jimmy Carter era. Guess what the plant is making its money from today. They are converting the hydrogen and natural gas from the coal to fertilizer so they can stay afloat financially. How's that for alternative fuel? No fuel is perfect. The left won't accept anything short of perfect. Perfection is great, but that is not reality.
McCain is very ruth especially to women. This is examplified in his campaign train, senate and daily life. McCain is very arrogant and wild to be president.
I have never seen McCain be rude to women. You are just repeating lies tossed about by the Obama camp and you should be ashamed for passing along the lies.
Ah, perhaps his 0 NARAL rating and the fact that he called his wife the C word should be evidence enough. He's got old world views from head to toe. I didn't think that we could do any worse than GWBush, but I honestly think McCain would be. He's in way way way over his head.
Maybe so, but Obama sit hasn't found the pool.
It would be nice if people could see the concerns we face with energy, as with so many other issues as more important that their political affiliation, and all the automatic discounting rather considering of positions of the candidates. The polarization and attempts to diminish opponents in evey way possible has made it almost impossible to get anything productive done.
One thing I'll give McCain is his ability to work toward solutions rather than playing partisan politics. The value in that may be just what is needed.
Another problem facing Americans is the weak dollar. Is there really a gas shortage? Any of us can go to any gas station anywhere in the US and get gas for our cars. There are no even / odd days as the past.
The weak dollar is why we are spending so much for not only gas but everything. Thanks a lot Mr. Bush. A true loser.
To correct you on your data, the dollar is not week due to the Bush Administration. If you would of done your homework you would of found that twelve of the 15 EU countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Greece and Ireland) are members of the eurozone. On 1 January 2002 the euro replaced the old national currencies. This is why the American dollar is week. The dollar is in direct competition with the Euro now and even the strength of the U.S. is no match when you have these amount of countries using one currency. The dollar wasn't ready for the impact that this has brought and we are now learning from our non-awareness of the Euro Currency. We can off set that with rebuilding our infrastructure and creating jobs which is what McCain is trying do. While Mr. Obama is playing politics, posing for the media, and quiting church to get elected, you have candidate in McCain who is reaching across the table and doing what a president needs to do which is why I hope he wins........McCain 08
Comment: Interesting we have many teenagers blogging, and lying, for Osama. The facts are there are enough reserves in Alaska and offshore U.S. (yes we would then have the largest reserves in the WORLD), to supply our needs at current usage levels, for 70 (yesw SEVENTY) years W/O importing ONE (yes 1) barrel of oil. It will only take approx 3 years to get that oil on the U.S. market and would offer immeadiate releif in price pressures. If S.A. really thought thr US was going to flood the market with cheaper oil waht do you think they would start dong TODAY???? They would pump much more to get the higher prices and prices would drop TODAY... This would also allow us the needed time to develop alternative energy sources that even the most ardent supporter say are DECADES away. And one last comment: U.S. is the S.A. of the world of coal and we now have the technology to turn coal into gas at $2 a gallon, AND we have enough coal to supply the U.S. needs at current usage for 700 YEARS... Quit lying, check the facts, all this is true and verifiable. And to those of you that say drilling is old technology and we have the solutions NOW... Get real, do you know WHT RICHES would be available to a person or even company (such as GE that IS working on alternative solution, they have one of the largest land based energy plants R&D in the World in North Carolina (Turbine generators and WINDMILLS). Whatever company developed such a solution would make Bill Gates LOOK LIKE A PAUPER... Please use even one brain cell....
So let me get this straight. By bringing up the fact that we ALREADY DID th Windfall Profit thing, under Jimmy Carter,-(And we all know how THAT worked out)-McCain is some dottering old fool? Maybe Mikey's too young, or just too stupid, to remember the late, great, Jimmy Carter years, but there's enough of us out here that do. And they weren't pretty. And neither is this IDIOT. So this is what we get from the Elitst, limp wristed bunch, on the hard left. The old."do as I say" crap. NOBODY'S supposed to say ANYTHING about their pointy headed, empty suited Golden Boy. You can't say that "he hasn't DONE anything. You can't say that he's been surrounding himself, for 20 years, with RACISTS, UNREPENTENT TERRORISTS, ANTI-SEMITES, and AMERICA HATERS. Even though IT'S TRUE. No, no. That would be the "politics of distraction. That would be "devisive". And of course, with this punk, it would be racist. Ooooooooooooooooooooo. I thought we weren't supposed to bring up racists? Oh, that's right. We're not supposed to bring up the RACIST FRIENDS of Basketball Jones. Can I bring up Basketball Jones, Mikey? Or would I be showing my age? By the way, how's the old Gasoline station Mens Room periodical business working out? Not so good? Gee, what a surprise. Idiot.
Boy it must suck to be you. All that anger...
Do as I say ?? It seems you have the candidates mixed up because that's exactly what MCCain is saying!!! I have yet to hear him explain how he would pay for ANY of his plans, but then, of course, he will continue to shelter the rich and the corporates, so he really doesn't care. All I've heard so far from him is attacks on Obama, very little about the issues or how he would pay for them. That's what American's are interested in, not attack, attack, attack. Besides, we'd see enough of that if he gets to be President, because the first thing he would do would be attack Iran!!! We don't need another WARMONGER!!!
All you CHILDREN that use scare tactics to try to turn people off to more drilling: 1) you don't have to pay $5/Gal and more to soon $8, $9 etc. 2) you have no understanding what bullent 1 would do to our country/economy. Britian has been getting MOST of their oil offseas (can we say North SEAS CHILDREN) for DECADES with nary an incident 3) China has signed an agreement with Cuba to do drilling in their waters (first verticle, then horizontal to the oil off florida to get at OUR oil reserves. Who do you want drilling off our coasts, China or the U.S? Who do you want to get the financial advantages of this oil? Who do you think would be more environmental safe in getting this oil, U.S. or China? 4) Name one horrific incident of offshore drilling in the last 20 YEARS...
You OSAMA supporters don't want to do ANYTHING, but yet have NO PLAN except to wait for some UNKNOWN solution to come forward on its own. NERO FIDDLED WHILE ROME BURNED....
[Just to reiterate] Check out fuelcells.org. Those alternative energy sources that you think needs to be developed, were developed over thirty years ago. But thanks to big oil companies buying out patents on alternative fuels to ward of competition, people like yourself are stuck arguing what equates to the model-T when it comes to energy.
Not only is McSybil's plan old. It's retired and been put to rest. It won't work and those of us who think know that.
Thanks for nothing.
Thinking is one think. Thinking feel-good, non-workable solutions is another. If gas goes to $10, maybe then you will stop "thinking" and do something, and I'm not talking about SCi-Fi stuff.
Where is the NEWS Medias on this Renewable Clean Energy Initiative ????????
All of this is Great for the future of our Energy Independence , it cleans the air as it grows , how can we be not all over this , and food shortage issues , so where is everyone talking this up in the News Medias Please ?????????? This will save Soldiers Lives and make the world a Lot better rather than being dependent on OIL Companies only .

Incubus67,
Where does the 10 year number come from? I worked in the offshore production business with Amoco. I have also worked in the design and construction of refineries. On a fast track, we can have production rigs and refineries built in three years. Even if it is 10 years as you said, what are you going to complain about in 10 years, that we did not drill soon enough? We can talk about alternative energy til the cows come home, but the fact is even if you combine every alternative fuel sources, excluding nuclear, you don't even come close to meeting our energy needs. Cow manure, sugar, corn, wind, switchgrass, solar, none of that is enough for our thirst for energy. We must drill and build more nuclear power plants. Anything else is non-mature.
Look at the amount of barrels per billion we use in this country annually and compare to possible 21 billion barrels in reserves in U.S. regions. The yield is minimal and we won't even see a drop for at least 10 years. Drilling does nothing for us except destroy what's left of some of this important ecosystems. This plan is hardly "grown-up." We can't afford this boondoggle. Let's invest our time and money in longterm solutions that can begin by putting people back to work in expanding alternative energy markets. Drilling for oil here is completely useless..unless "psychological" relief is all you're looking for.
The energy issue is the only thing McCain and I agree on, but that is not enough to get my vote. It's like a man who has been beating his wife for 20 years. He brings her some roses and everything is OK. I don't think so. McCain is no different from Hu**ein. At least we know what Hu**ein is all about and we will try to stop him from getting liberal judges confirmed, but McCain is a Trojan Horse disguised as a moderate. That makes him dangerous. Both Dems and Repubs in Congress will give McCain everything he wants, including liberal judges. Want proof of his liberal leanings? Look no further than yesterday's DC gun ban ruling. The four dissenting justices, Breyer, Souter, Ginsburg and Stevens were all confirmed by McCain during his 20 years in the Senate.
What I find interesting is that the government requires civil service employees to retire at 65 but our president can be any age. What does that say? If the government thinks employees aren't as competent to do their jobs after 65 does it mean that they feel the presidency is less important so age doesn't matter? Or should the law e changed so all people can work forever regardless of their current ability? Just asking.
Michael, you have renewed my hope in Newsweek and journalism with this article. I'm not sure what exactly makes an energy plan "grown up", but I agree with your premise. I don't like McCain for many reasons, but he is miles ahead of Obama on this one. Obama's real problem is that there is NO good solution that doesn't involve harvesting our own oil while alternative technology continues to be developed, and I don't think he is prepared to turn on the environmentalists he is so committed to.
Contrary to the last claim in your article, however, there is an obvious answer to the current oil price problem, but so far, nobody's going there. If we draw 2 million barrels of oil per day from our reserves for the next 10 years, that would do the following:
1) Provide some immediate relief in gas prices. It may even be enough to burst the current price bubble, which would substantially reduce prices.
2) Provide a huge revenue stream which can be used to develop safer and cleaner alternatives. The American people can't afford to shoulder the burden of this development.
We have enough in our reserves to draw 2 million barrels/day for 10 years while we get our wells going to become foriegn oil independent. At this rate, we will only reduce our reserve by 1/3, and would still maintain enough to replace all of our imported oil for about 2-1/2 years in case of emergency. This plan will have us off of foriegn oil in 10 years, and would likely have us off of fossil fuel in about 25 years.
please get the Facts right for once before Bush\Mcsame invading IRQA the Oil price is US$ 27 a barrel, now after 6 years its US$140 a barrels....
What 's your point? Are we calling a redo of the 2000 election, or are we having an election for today? You're misguided comment has nothing to do with the fact that McCain is the only candidate with some sort of a plan to fix it.
The energy issue is the only thing which McCain and I agree, but that is not enough to get my vote. It's like a man beating up his wife for 20 years. He thinks he can bring her some roses and everything is OK. NOT
