The whinning mayors are trying to convince people that the (law abiding) gun owners' gun some how wrecks the criminal justice system! listen to thier chosen words! This got the DC gun ban in place 30 years ago and the next act was to convince everyone that the criminal justice system was now wrecked magily, by gun owning in Virginia!
See the scam? When they don't do their job and toughen the criminal justice system thier excuse is that ..out there, somewhere, an american in good standing owns a gun! (GASP!)the crime.
this is not a harmless scam because threw the crime violence real citizens are being hurt and killed! Not one US mayor stood up to the michrophone and said the supreme court decision means WE GOTTA GET TO WORK ON OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM!

If D.C. isn't ready to handle all of the freedoms that the Constitution provides, it's a good thing that D.C. doesn't have all of the benefits of being a state and should stay firmly under the thumb of Congress until they get with the program.

If they can't behave like adults, they need to stay in the play pen!

I defer to law enforcement what an ass he won't even take responsibility for his own decisions. I am sure 100% of your police force unloads their weapons before they get home or do you collect them from them at the end of the day and lock them up.

Has anyone ever done a study on democratic leadership and cirme rates? Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, Detroit, New York, Los Angeles. I wonder if I could get a federal grant of A million dollars to tell us what we already know?

I agree fully with this descision. However, I think it funny that the same conservatives who scream judicial activism when the court overturns a law they like applaud this overturning of a law they do not like.

Hypocrite and ignorant are both synonyms for conservative.

your an idiot if you don't understnd the difference between the supreme court upholding the constitution and the courts interpreting laws to be illegal without any merit.

The Below passage says it all! They don't want to target specific groups meaning they dont want to target criminals. What the hell is wrong with these people.

The people who aren't supposed to have the guns likely already do, regardless of whether it's legal. Is it possible to draft regulations targeting criminals specifically? Or do you think you'll draft the new policies more broadly to affect everyone?
That's a good question. I don't think we would ever draft a law in which we would single out any particular person or group. But we're trying to keep as many guns out of the city as is humanly possible

The criminals and low lifes that use guns to commit crimes have been doing it illegally and will continue to acquire guns illegally forever. I say let them weed out each other (natural selection) and we will be better off without them around. As for the rest of us law abiding citizens just trying to protect our families I commend the U.S. Supreme Court for its ruling. Common sense has prevailed again! God Bless America!

The criminals that are going to acquire guns illegally are going to continue doing that forever. I say give all the gang bangers and low-lifes their guns and let them weed each other out. We will be better off without them. As for the rest of us law abiding citizens just looking to protect our families from such criminals and low-lifes I commend the Supreme Court for its ruling. God Bless America!

I like how in the last question when asked about tailoring laws to target criminals specifically, the mayor replies "I don't think we would ever draft a law in which we would single out any particular person or group" like criminals are a class of people such as an ethnicity or gender that shouldn't be discriminated against. Sure its a 'priority,' but they wouldn't dare infringe on the rights of criminals by making harsher laws for ciminals. What a moronic statement.

So if I understand the mayor of DC correctly lifting the gun ban will cause crime to go up because of the proliferation of guns getting into the hands of criminals? Of course, the gun ban kept the city safe and crime was at an all time low with the ban in place. What the Chief of Police and the Mayor need to do is grow a pair, and let law abiding citizens determine the outcome of their own destiny. Because that destiny, resting in the hands of others has only led to tragedy.
