Comment: In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

Comment: "Not all Democrats agree with Mr. Frank that such policies are off-limits to criticism. Last week Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in a statement: 'Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect, I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong.'

"Mr. Davis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus."

    'Rank snobbery'

Camille Paglia, who supports Sen. Barack Obama, has nothing but scorn for the way the media has treated Sarah Palin.

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses," Miss Paglia writes at www.salon.com.

"The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

    Comment: The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

they sold for is a test of knowledge. Knowing why they were important is a better test for Francis Bacon
and for art in general. This test was made for collectors of facts not deeper thinkers.

Comment: Your "presidents who were generals" question is hugely wrong. You list only Washington, Grant, and Eisenhower. But Rutherford B. Hayes, Zachary Taylor, Andrew Jackson and William Henry Harrison were also "generals" (with various modifiers - Major General, Brigadier General, Brevet Lieutenant General, etc.).
Now who's been taking the web too seriously? If you're going to taunt people, get your stupid facts right!

Comment: Sarah Palin : To a church gathering, she described a $30 billion natural-gas pipeline project, backed by state tax money, as "God's will." Similarly, she urged her audience to pray that the war in Iraq was "a task that is from God ??? That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for???that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
I never knew God was an oil man.All i can say is....Praise the lord and pass the gas.

Comment: I predict Palin will be president at some point. Obama will lose with a good margin. Palin has more fiscal experience that all three combined. People say Palin has no experience?? And Obama has what? He has 143 days as a do nothing vote nothing senator from a corrupt Chicago area. He's a loser before he even started. If he doesn't make it this time (which I think he wil not) he most likely will not run again because the demorats will not back another loser.

Bill Clinton, has yet, to tell the truth about some of the contributions made to his Presidential library. Also, the media, with the exception of Keith Olberman, Chris Matthew, have failed to highlight that Hillary Clinton used gender discrimination to explain her loss...GS, NYC

Comment: The reason why it is 6% is because the right wing conservatives filibuster all legislation that would help the american people and not overly benefit the rich and corporations for who they work for. Once the dems get a filibuster proof percentage in Congress and the right wing conservatives stop killing legislation that this country needs, the approval rating will skyrocket.

    • Posted By: coachgjh @ 08/28/2008 10:32:11 AM

Comment: Your kidding right. Consevitives have fillibustered less in two years of session than the dems have done in 1 month. Watch C-SPAN before making non-informed comments. Look at voting records, prices we pay know have been a direct reflection of the dems running the house. Watch C-SPAN while it is still on, the Dems are trying to get rid of C-SPAN all together.

ALL THOSE YEARS. All they did was deregulate as much as they could, now we're in THIS mess.

Comment: Obama and Biden are a great ticket to finally get this ignorant, bigoted, war mongering, corrupt, administration on the right track. Admittedly, I was never for the Cheney- Bush ticket to begin with, but I dannot believe that well-meaning people could possibly want to continue in this vein....and that is what McCain promises....John McCain is an insencere and power-hungry candidate who will do whatever it takes to win...including being completely dishonest and willing to put himself "beholdin" to the Cheney-Bush enablers.

Comment: I just hope that all those people who voted for George Bush solely on the basis of his promise to overturn Roe v. Wade remember that it hasn't been done in his 8 years of office. I don't want to get into a morals debate, but it would be very challenging for the current Supreme Court to overturn a previous Supreme Courts's decision. Let's move beyond a single issue. This country has other serious problems.

If you have not seen this article, you might want to read it. It is very well written and informative. It provides readers with some insight into Barack Obamas early political career. The time between his first campaign for the Illinois State Senate in 1995 and his race for U.S. Senate in 2004, which can fairly be called the LOST YEARS, the span of years that you never hear Obama talk much about.

    Weekly Standard
    Barack Obamas Lost Years
    by Stanley Kurtz
    08/11/2008, Volume 013, Issue 45

The Senator Obamas tenure as a State legislator reveals him to be an Old-fashioned, Big Government, Race-Conscious Liberal.

Obama 08!!!!! the culminating moment in my history will be felt as soon as this lame-duck Bush is out. It's time for an effective leader with sound policies and a logical approach to the many challenges we as a nation and as a world face i.e. global warming, energy efficiency, foreign relations-national security. Ultimately, we are heavily relying on an approach that will incorporate the international community and will closely examine the multi-faceted problems we face and hopefully we will soundly make some progress.

Comment: Well, I can't get the quiz to work-- It goes to the 2nd page warning me I have to answer fast and then hangs. But I can assure you that I will not be voting against Obama because I think he's Muslim. In fact, if he were Muslim, he'd probably understand that it isn't ok to murder babies because you find their potential birth inconvenient. He certainly wouldn't be all but advocating full out infanticide in the name of "rights." W do not have a right to take the lives of others, no matter how inconvenient or difficult their existence. Since Prol-life is now a dirty word within the Democratic party, I have no choice but to vote Republican, though I am far from being a Republican. It's just that the right to exist is far more important than any other right. If it is ok to kill anyone who gets in the way of your pursuit of whatever lifestyle you want, then pretty much nothing else matters at all--not healthcare, not poverty, not crime, war, prison problems-- NOTHING. There is no point to freedom if you aren't guaranteed the right to continue breathing so long as God ordains it possible. When my party starts to understand this basic concept of logic again, then maybve I can return to voting for the economic policy and social programs I prefer.

  • Posted By: dc2961 @ 08/01/2008 3:41:04 PM

Comment: nope, sorry. If he were Muslim, actually, he would understand that it isn't ok to kill babies because you find their potential birth inconvenient. Obama does NOT understand that. He all but advocates infanticide in the name of protecting "rights." No one has a right to take someone ele's life, no matter how inconvenient they find that person's existence! That is why I will vote Republican, though otherwise, I am most certainly NOT a Republican. When the democrats get that some things are just more important than others and quit ignoring those of us who are pro life Democrats, they will fare better. Until then, I have no choice but to abandon my party on basic moral principles. Having a right to continue existing is far more necessary than pretty much anything else.

  • Posted By: dking312 @ 08/01/2008 1:36:26 AM

I just saw on CNN, they don't care what his ACTUAL religion is, they have just replaced BLACK with MUSLIM, so that's the politically correct thing to say....I'm not voting for him cause he's MUSLIM. Even though EVERYBODY knows he's not, That's the excuse.

UGH. I'm going to see Obama Saturday in Nevada.
I want to shed a tear for him, cause you can't do right for some folks, no matter what you try and do for them.
