Now wait, did they mean 4-star General or simply general officer? If it's 4-star, there are actually four presidents, Washington, Grant, Ike, and Andrew Jackson. Way to fact check Newsweek.

Now I'm finding sources that say Andrew Johnson was a brigadier general after all, such as these:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Presidents_by_military_service
http://www.infoplease.com/spot/prestrivia1.html
Yet most other online bios of him do not mention this.
The discrepancy seems to be about whether he became a brigadier general when Lincoln appointed him military governor of Tennessee in 1862.

Addendum to previous note - I said that 12 U.S. presidents were generals, but after looking at the list again, Andrew Johnson wasn't a general (despite it saying he was at http://www.infoplease.com/spot/prestrivia1.html). So I believe there were 11 U.S. presidents who achieved the rank of general: Washington, Jackson, W. Harrison, Taylor, Pierce, Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, B. Harrison, and Eisenhower.

The quiz falsely claims only 3 U.S. presidents achieved the rank of general or higher. Actually, 12 did! They were Washington, Jackson, W. Harrison, Taylor, Pierce, A. Johnson, Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, B. Harrison, and Eisenhower. See http://www.infoplease.com/spot/prestrivia1.html, among many sources. Or just look up each of the above president's one by one, and see that each achieved the rank of general.

Regarding "Presidents who achieved rank of General or higher" You did not specify "General of the Army" or number of Stars. Therefore you should have recognized and included both Benjamin Harrison and William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor and Andrew Jackson. All four achieved rank of Brigadier General - "or higher." Correct answer to your question should be SEVEN!
I thought it was a fun quiz. No, it did not deal with "the issues". But about the only way you could get a decent score (which I did) was to have been keeping up with the daily trivia news.
Things like this make me even more thankful that I have been
sober for 29 years.
Obama IS the crown prince of the Senate "LULUBELLE" DUH!!!
I mean, he IS about to be President of the United States, or didn't you hear?
WOW ... I am Smart Enough for the US Senate ...
What a bunch of stupid questions. Who cares about any of that? And why do they put Obama right in the middle of that head like he is the crown prince? Newsweek, you need new people to take over and revamp your magazine.
as every other person has suggested policy issues are something more significant than were they were born or what they wrote in a BESTSELLER. A quiz on their gaffes could be more fun if that was the essence
Do you notice who Newsweek shows right in the middle of the picture? None other than their favorite Obama.
it didnt ask me anything that actually mattered.....and then I'M insulted?......gotta love Newsweek......GossipWeek?
do we care what McCain's credit card debt is?.......do we care about beer company affiliations?.....no, we dont.

This quiz doesn't really get at knowledge that should really matter for this election, such as Senatorial voting records and proposed policies. Seems like it could have been a lot more informative. Also, "the internets"?
Most of these questions don't really get at knowledge that actually matters for the general election, like voting records and proposed policies. I think the quiz could have been much better and more informative. Also, "the internets"?
Result: "Maybe you should rethink your belief that everything you read on the internets is true."
Please do not insult me. I don't *remotely* think that. Just because I didn't remember where John McCain was born doesn't mean I don't know his policy on nuclear energy. Just because I don't recogize every quote either man has ever said doesn't mean I don't understand Obama's opinion on Cuban/American relations.
I don't think this test measures anything of relevance. The insult at the end just pisses me off.
I like how it insulted me at the end. *** quiz.
Some prettyy stupid questions overall.........
where is scale ?
