Development organization Amman Imman: Water is Life, founded by the Yale researcher Ariane Kirtley who is mentioned in the article, is building borehole-wells in the Azawak Region of Niger. The Azawak, a large area the size of Florida and home to half million people, is the poorest region in Niger, already one of the poorest countries in the world. Yet Amman Imman is caring for the people of Niger by bringing them water. You read more about Ms. Kirltey's research and support her organization through her website: http://www.waterishope.org/.

It would be next to impossibility for anyone in the developed nations to imagine (let alone talking or understanding) the plight of the Nigerois, the world???s poorest and least cared people who are living the most degrading life, probably unsurpassed in human history.

With hunger and thirst continuously threatening their existence, they are but a group of lost souls, painfully waiting for the day of reckoning. Yet their population is increasing, thus multiplying the sufferance manifolds.

But who would cry for Niger? Who would care for the Nigerois? The US, the EU, the UN or the Chinese investors?
