The number of millionaires continued to boom worldwide in 2007, according to the latest study from Capgemini and Merrill Lynch, which shows where the newly rich are sprouting the fastest:

10.1 Worldwide number (in millions) of millionaires, defined as individuals who held at least $1 million in assets last year. That's a 6 percent increase over 2006.

22.7 Percentage increase in millionaires in India, the country with the fastest-growing millionaire population in 2007, followed closely by China and Brazil.

3.28 Number (in millions) of millionaires in the United States in 2007, the highest concentration of any country, followed by Germany (826,000) and the U.K. (495,000)
