OBAMA WILL NOT GET THE CHRISTIAN VOTES BECAUSE HE MADE THAT STATEMENT ABOUT JESUS AND THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT AND HIS REFERANCE ABOUT THE BIBLE IT IS CLEAR THAT HE HAS BEEN IN THE WRONG CHURCH FOR TOO LONG NO WAY WILL HE GET THE CHRISTIAN VOTES HE CAN TAKE ON JOHN McCAIN AND TWIST HIS WORDS!! BUT THERE IS NO WAY HE CAN TWIST WHAT JESUS SAID AND WIN !!!! NO WAY !!!!

Apparently you have a deficit with the Bible, Barack Obama is right. This is where the so called 'christian right' fails every time. They think their interpretation is the only interpretation and basically think their saved for doing nothing but calling yourself christian. There are many, many false prophets, false christian's, false gods. But true christian's not only speak with a divine love and respect for one another as Obama does, and they also live doing the deed's of the great Lord. War is not Ok in any Bible, for any christian. So hear we have the religious right forcing themselves on other countries, lying about it, killing women and children in the occupation of another country to call themselves 'the faithful'. Bologne, nonsense and you know it.

Dear Will Not, could you be more specific about what exactly it is that Obama said in his speech about the Sermon on the Mount that you think is offensive? I heard the entire speech, and I found it to be exhilarating -- FINALLY a politician who speaks frankly about the complexities of religion, who listens to the Christian conservatives as well as to the liberals, and tries to get the liberals to understand the Christians and vice versa. In fact, his speech on race relations was very similar -- he spoke about the issues felt by blacks and whites alike, and tries to get them to understand each other.

Obama is deeply, deeply Christian. Everywhere he turns he tries to get different groups to accept and understand each other, and to work TOGETHER to strengthen America. I really wish, Will Not, that you could find it in your heart to actually see how much Obama is reaching out to the conservative Christians, and reaching out to them in real ways, rather than just trying to manipulate their votes, like the GOP is famous for. Read the chapter on Faith in Obama's Audacity of Hope. It just might rock your world.

Refer to these votes by Obama if you are looking for proof...
2001 IL Senate Bill 1095, Born Alive Infant Protection Act --Obama voted NO

2002 IL Senate Bill 1662, Born Alive Infant Protection Act --Obama voted NO

2003 IL Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act --Obama finally got the bill from the senate as he was the chaired of the health and human services committee. He held on the Bill and make sure it would not come up for a comittee vote.

This is the sort of radical ultra left stands he takes that frightens me.....who would vote against ensuriing life saving protocols for infants borned alive even...if it was during and abort process gone wrong. Who? who would do this? Why would you kill a child who have made it alive into the world against all odds.....what is the humane justification?
THIS IS WHY OBAMA WILL NOT GET THE CHRISTIAN VOTE !!

You cannot speak of Obama as different "willnotvoteforobama", than any child of a mixed race. This is a typical yearning, learning, listening, feeling experience, and many slam him for his 'feelings' at a certain time in his life is absurd. I have a mixed grandaughter, wonderful 15 yr old, with a heart of gold, these feelings are also her's at time's. Think, think, think.....is John McCain your answer? I would be terribly afraid of this man as President. Worse than Bush, worse than Leiberman. I think this man has a mission for his own 'supposed' legacy. His elitism, arrogance, stupidity, flip-flopping and war mongering is a dangerous thing to do. Iran will provoke this man to do something, They've seen his kind before. All bull, no glory.

    HIPOCRISY OF RELIGIOUS RIGHT EXPOSED

The beautiful part about Senator Barack Obama is that his Faith and GODLY walk is so genuinely authentic, it exposes a light on the dark hypocrisy of the Religious Right. Finally the religious conservatives have been exposed for the real fakes they are.

Christian Brother Obama has reached out with multiple attempts to shake the hands of hypocritical religious right conservatives, only to have fellow Christian Brothers from the right spurn Obama's good faith effort to converse as brothers. The Religious Right is nothing less than modern day crusaders always looking to savage other Christians that may not look identical to the religious right, or do not always march in absolute lockstep with the religious political crusaders. Case in point, you see what the hypocritical Religious Right did to Colin Powell.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!
    GOD BLESS OBAMA!

I am a Christian and will vote for Obama because I believe that he can lead this country out of the mess we are in. I don't believe in abortion, but I also don't believe in the government telling me what I can do with my body. Thank is something that MR. McCain would like to do and take away my freedom of choice as a women this is just unacceptable to me.

It has been the stated goal of the religious right to appoint conservative judges to overturn Roe vs. Wade for years. Bush is on board with this plan. Every single judge that Bush appointed to every single Federal bench that came open during his tenure was a right wing Christian conservative. The Democrats were stymied when the GOP controlled congress, and Bush got to appoint two right wing Supreme Court Justices.

First Bush appointed John Roberts to replace Sandra Day O'Connor when she stepped down. When Chief Justice Wm. Rehnquist died in 2005, Bush appointed Roberts as Chief Justice, and then filled O'Connor's empty chair with Samuel Alito. Both Roberts and Alito are Catholic, and both are outspoken against abortion.

Bush has appointed two of the nine Justices, including the Chief Justice. The current Supreme Court has been sharply divided on a number of high profile issues, including abortion rights, affirmative action, eminent domain, gay rights, the separation of church and state, sovereign immunity, and states' rights. The number of close votes in cases involving these areas suggests that a change of one or two key justices could completely shift the thinking of the Court on such issues.

Right now there are four Justices who are elderly and will soon either retire or die. The next President will get to appoint at least two new Justices. If the next President is McCain, those two will both be conservative right wing Christians. McCain has publicly PROMISED to do this, and explicitly said that his goal is to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Most Americans, even most Republicans, value the separation of church and state. That clause is in our Constitution to protect us from exactly what is going on in America today! Allowing any religious group (especially a radical one) to control the interpretation and application of our laws in the highest court in the land is NOT democratic. Nor is it wise.

I don't care if you are a disappointed Hillary supporter or an undecided Independent or a life-long Republican or are pro-Obama. ANYONE, regardless of stripe, needs to vote against a candidate who had declared his intention of appointing partisan judges. Judges are supposed to be impartial. That is the basis of our legal system. Without that, you might as well live in a dictatorship, without recourse to law.

    • Posted By: willnotvoteobama @ 07/03/2008 11:15:21 AM

I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH JUDGES THAT KEEP THE CONSITUTON !1 AND NOT HAVE LIBERAL JUDGES THAT WILL TAKE AWAY OUR GUNS LIKE THE STATE COURT JUDGES THAT ORDERED ALL GUNS TAKEN AFTER HURRICAN KATRINA THERE WERE NO POLICE TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE AND ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAD GUNS WERE IN DIRE STRAITS AND AMNY WERE INJURED BECAUSE OF THE INABILITY TO DEFEND THIER SELFS AGAINST THE CRIME ELEMENT! LIBERAL JUDGES ARE THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE AND THERE RIGHTS WOMEN WHO USE LATE TERM ABORTION METHODS ARE CRIMINALS THEY COULD HAVE EASILY ENDED THIER PREGNANCY BEFORE THE CHILD GREW FOR 6 TO 9 MTHS IN THIER BODIES THEY SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH MURDER ALONG WITH THE DOCTORS THAT PERFORM THE HORRIBLE ACT !!

This appears to be a very good topic for you "Christ-like" people. Hatred abounds!

Yes, satin has people killing one another in the streets and along country road ways, and he's got ministers, (ministers of what?), in the churches and pulpits.

This appears to be a good topic, in my opinion, because I see that some of you are actually, "checking" each other. Is there a possibility that you can "clean up your own act."

Listen, I say the evangelicals, or whatever they are, need to stay right ther with the Republican party. The countrty does not need them "festering out" These people love for thier leaders to essentially say to them, "do as I say, not as I do."

How happily and blindly they follow. Case in point, and close: ABORTIONS! How many Republican presidents have lied to you on this issue?

READ MY TYPE: No American president is going to remove this base right of an American woman. What about appointing Supreme court justices? What about it? Any man or woman who wants to serve on the Supreme court has to pass through a U.S. Senate confirmation hearing and that's where the "bucking" ends folks. Even if the Senate were entirely made up of Republicans, it wouldn't happen.

But, even I believe that we will always have weaklings among us who can not mentally process for themselves what others give them to believe.

Newsweek is a globalist propaganda rag. They put an article on the US Presidential race in their "Global Literacy" section. How, as a Christian, can I in good conscience vote for a globalist like Obama? he's pro abortion slaughter; he's pro gay marriage, he's heretical and says that the gospel is just one of the many ways to salvation, he lies about believing Scripture and says the Bible is contradictory. He also cowardly lies about his muslim heritage and disowns his own pastor when his views go public. When the going gets tough Obama quickly follows the polls. He's not a real leader and i won't be confused by this Newsweek propaganda.

I was born on the church pew born and raised in the church and Obama has my vote. He is the one God is calling for in these last and evil days. He will unite the church and cause many to confess Jesus is lord. Let the true Christian pray for our next Leader President Obama.

I agree with you, Teddy. Obama is deeply Christian. His chapter on Faith in Audacity of Hope is wonderful. Every religious person should readi it, and then ask themselves, what does McCain offer that is half as authentic and good?

God bless Barack Obama and keep him from harm.

McCain's "checkered" past on Equal Rights for ALL Americans, and Civil Rights:

http://www.colorofchange.org/mccain_facts/ - McCain votes against the Civil Rights Act, and MLK Holiday

Some say the overwhelming support of OBAMA by Black-Americans is fueled by racism. BASED ON MCCAINS voting record, OBAMA'S overwhelming support looks like a fight against a "once-racist" politician.

    I thought this was interesting......

Senator Obama just took another giant step toward winning the presidency. Actually, someone who considers himself a sworn enemy of Senator Obama took the step for him. Dr. Dobson of the Focus On the Family radio program (and evangelical media empire) has aired a program in which he attacks Senator Obama, the Senator's theology and his credentials as a Christian. With enemies like this Senator Obama doesn't need friends.

No, I'm not talking about Dobson energizing liberal Democrats. I'm talking about Dobson energizing his fellow evangelicals to vote for Senator Obama.
If you're one of many Americans who thinks that the war in Iraq was a mistake or believe that the Republicans have run the economy into the ground or think that perhaps the chaos George Bush unleashed in our foreign affairs has something to do with the price of gas at the pump... then you have Dr. Dobson to thank -- personally. No one worked harder to get Bush elected then reelected. Dobson delivered his millions of dupes. But now many of them see through him and like most Americans, are appalled by Bush.

The new generation of evangelicals is sick of being labeled as backward rednecks because of their association with fossils like Dobson. There are many evangelicals like Cizik too who are not all about homophobia, nationalism, war-without-end and American exceptionalism or the Republican Party. Like Cizik they believe that the America has a responsibility to do something about global warming, poverty, AIDS, human trafficking and other issues. They see through Dobson and the other so-called pro-life leaders, who have actually done nothing to reduce abortion. In fact Dobson has increased abortions because of his "abstinence only" crusade.

As a result of his power grabs and bullying of other evangelicals, not to mention his telling people how to vote and pointing them to the failed W, Dobson & Co. have zero credibility with a growing number of otherwise conservative evangelicals who happen--this year--to be looking favorably at Senator Obama's holistic Christian-based world view. Unlike Dobson they like Obama's theology just fine.

All that was missing to put the frosting on the Obama cake was for Dobson to attack him. For Obama to win all he needs to do is peel off a chunk of heretofore solid evangelical Republican votes. Dobson just handed Obama those votes.

  • Posted By: the-commish @ 06/28/2008 9:01:19 PM

The hard-core evangelical vote will still, reluctantly, go to McCain.

It's the ones who are away from the fringe (probably 40% or so) that McCain will have trouble with.

This is bad news for McCain, who will need almost every single evangelical vote on November 4 to gain the White House.

He won't get even 70% of evangelicals!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 06/29/2008 10:18:45 PM

The reason half of the conservative Christian right hates McCain is because they think that they can't trust him. McCain started his career as part of the Christian right (there's a little-known fact). Once he landed in the soup as part of the Keating Five (which almost derailed his career) he positioned himself as a liberal and became a reformer for campaign finance in an effort to resurrect himself. For those of you who don't remember, the Keating scandal had to do with some shim sham corporations pumping money into McCain's coffers. So McCain became a reformer to shine up his tarnished image, and that was his first departure from the right.

Other, more serious betrayals of the right came later, after McCain got swift boated by Bush. The great Texas Republican political machine laid McCain to waste, and McCain was mad as hell. He started voting against the party line and against Bush. He suddenly supported abortion rights, opposed the Bush tax cuts, co-sponsored a patient's bill of rights with Kennedy and Edwards, and got on the environmental bandwagon with John Kerry. He called Jerry Falwell "an agent of intolerance." My gosh, he actually tried to crack down on gun shows in legislation he put forth with then-Democrat Joe Lieberman. And in 2001, when Senator Jeffords of Vermont switched from Republican to Independent in an effort to counteract Bush's stranglehold on the Senate, McCain announced that he was considering becoming a Democrat, and went into a pow-wow with Senator Tom Daschle at his Sedona ranch. And did you know that John Kerry floated the idea of having McCain as his VP in '04? That was to have cemented his status as a newly-minted Democrat.

But instead of joining Kerry, McCain suddenly switched his affiliation, came out in support of Bush in '04, and jettisoned his liberal image. Suddenly, it was the "old" McCain from the 1980s back in the saddle, the neo-conservative, take no prisoners Creationist. Against abortion. For the war. The SAME man who opposed a Federal amendment banning gay marriage and openly met with gay groups now was pushing a gay marriage ban in Arizona. The SAME man who said in 1999 that he was opposed to overturning Roe vs. Wade, now suddenly in 2007 is promising that he will stack the deck in the Supreme Court with religious right judges and overturn Roe vs. Wade.

But the religious right isn't so sure about him. He's supported so many different opposing positions at so many times, that they are afraid that they are getting played in the name of McCain's political expediency.

You don't have to take my word for this. Watch news clips of McCain talking about the same issues in different years, which proves what I have written. Get on the Straight Talk Express and get it straight from the horse's mouth:
