Global Warming Is a Cause of This Year’s Extreme Weather

We give ourselves way too much credit that we can influence the weather like the global warming crowd seems to believe. As I understand, I was a toddler at the time, but in the 70's the general consensus was that the earth was cooling and there was a fear of the next ice age. Perhaps the global warming that we are seeing, and it may very well be happening, is a natural cycle of the earth, not one caused because you used incandescent bulbs instead of fluorescent. (Fluorescents are actually a hazard to the landfills - MERCURY in the bulb) My fear is that when the earth begins to cool (and it will naturally), the Al Gore's of the world will stand up to receive their 2nd bogus Nobel peace prize for saving the planet. I heard the storms and tornadoes in the midwest were actually caused because it was cooler than normal (how does that fit the global warming template!) in the north and that was causing a larger temperature difference between the 2 fronts causing unusually severe storms. Most of the warming predictions are set up on faulty models and assume that we knew what the ocean temps were one thousand years ago. We only have info maybe as far back as 1900 so to make huge assumptions on such a small sample is bad science. In actuality some of the warmest years in the past 100 occurred in the 1930's. Doesn't fit the template either does it?

"It's almost a point of pride with climatologists. Whenever someplace is hit with a heat wave, drought, killer storm or other extreme weather, scientists trip over themselves to absolve global warming."
Actually, it seems almost a point of pride with journalists that every time there is an extreme weather event the press trips over themselves to see who can be the first to link it to global warming.
The truth about global warming is that we are near the peak of a 15,000 year period of warming. This is based on data reported on the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration web site.
To all those who think we can control climate change I simply ask: if you don't like where our current temperatures are, where would you like them to be?
What's next, a new UN Commission to be the Earth???s thermostat?

Newsweek = New Pravda (All of you under 40 can consult your history books.) You have to wonder about, or maybe another reporter should check into, the political motives and background of a person writing an article with so many unsupported facts.

Why is it that during the industrial revolution, London was so polluted a tree couldn't grow. The sky was filled with smog and the buildings were black from soot. Does anyone actually believe it's worse now than it was then? Come on folks, global warming might be real but it certainly isn't man-made. If it were, the world would have ended a hundred and fifty years ago when it was really being polluted.

Is this the same Newsweek that proclaimed "Global Freezing" just a mere 30 years ago?

I think some of these problems are man made: # 1 What happens when it rains: It cools things down. What could be the problem: All of the water retention pond created when high ways are built. They are popping up all over the place. Everyone and their brother are building lakes and pond. Then there are the dams that we have built, i.e Hoover Dam, etc. Then all the mining that has been done, strip pond and underground water that has filled up some closed mines. Put this water back in the atmosphere and cool this PLANET DOWN! #2 If you put liquid soap in running water you create bubbles which are a gas. Stick your finger through the bubbles or add a drop of oil a whole forms. Most of the times that whole will not close up! Think of the OZONE like bubbles, every time the shuttle or anyother object passes through the ozone a whole is created. The wholes never close completley and that is why we are loosing our ozone.

Sharon: While I appreciate your opinion. It is an opinion. I will grant you that there is some form of global warming. The world works on cycles. Therefore, logically, the world must move from a cold cycle to a warm cycle back to a cold cycle, regardless of what man does. What we can do as humans is learn to adapt to the way the world works. As George Carlin said the "World is fine." I recommend a book on global warming by a pair of climatologists: "Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years" by Siegfried Fred Singer, Dennis Avery.

If the people who believe in Global Warming are wrong, the worst that will happen is that we will stop putting some pollution into the atmosphere, and maybe slow down the increasing hole in the ozone layer. If the people who DON'T believe in Global Warming are wrong, it will be a catostrophe that potentionally wipes out a lot of the human race. I choose to believe and do what I can to help. If I'm wrong, I'll laugh at myself when I'm older. If they're wrong, no one will be laughing!

    Amen to that, BiB98!

Also, the author, Sharon Begley, doesn't even mention the fact that "man made global warming" has been all but erased in the last 10 years (http://poneke.wordpress.com/2008/04/06/nina/) - how convinient. Water vapor is many times more effective in causing the "greenhouse" effect than CO2 (http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html). If people would just research things a little and stop receiving every bit of knowledge from ABC news or Al Gore we'd be a better country because of it! Sheesh!

Global Warming clearly exists, but the real question is "How much are we are causing it with greenhouse gasses?" I have seen articles saying that the temperatures on Mars are accelerating at four-fold pace, as well as on other planets in the solar system. This clearly would point to something happening on the Sun itself and radiating to ALL the planets.
Frankly, I am not sure who to believe since I am not a scientist, but if those reports about global warming on Mars are true, then there is probably nothing we can do about it here on earth.

The facts simply do not support the articles assertion that there are more strong tornadoes or that hurricanes are getting stronger. Go to GlobalWarmingHoax dot com for several good articles with data straight from NOAA that refute this myth. If the earth is getting warmer its nature doing it, and if the earth is getting warmer it isn't causing storms to worsen.

Yet another "environmental journalist" trying to secure a paycheck. Virtually every "fact" she regurgitated in that article is fabricated or unsubstantiated. The scam continues.
    Want to know the truth?
Check out "The Great Global Warming Swindle". Google video or buy the DVD. It will explain why people like Belgely do what the do...and it has nothing to do with the truth. Wake up and take the power back!

This article was once published under the title "Chicken Little". Every thunderstorm or hot day or even an extremely cold day elicits the global warming crowd to run around claiming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling". I wonder if the same crowd could get our next president to wear a "new suit of clothing". Maybe we could relive "the Emperor???s New Clothes"also.

Since the Earth has been around for millions of years and during that time the climate has ranged from tropical to extreme cold, how can anyone say definitively that our current weather patterns are nothing more than another cyclical event? Global warming is just another unprovable theory that is nothing more than an "AGENDA" item for political purpose.

Global warming is the biggest scam going since the snake oil salesmen of the 1850's. If you believe man is the cause of global warming then attack the source of the problem OVER POPULATION!!! World population curenntly 6 + billion projected to be 9 + billion by 2050 do the math.

Global Warmings is not as bad as all the doomsayers have been saying. Its worse.
