Here we go again! Let's take a guess who is really behind this yet again. The ranchers are, so who is BLM and the gov't kidding? The horses, just as the wolves are imposing into grazing land and the ranchers have always gotten their way in the end. It's about money when animals are concerned, about their "management", their deaths and eventually their extinction. Is this all for the good of the people as a whole, or to line the pockets of certain individuals? When is Man going to finally realize that for every action there is always a reaction. Once the earth and all of it's inhabitants are destroyed at the hand of man, that's it, there is no second chance.

Could you personify the animals any more!

They have been here with us since the begining and they know our deepest secrets!

The article sounds like a car commercial

Absolutely, no way should the government use euthanasia to curb wild horses. That's what's painfully wrong with the government.(Especially the Bush Administration) They wills spend billions of dollars on foreign aid but are ready to murder, not only our heritage but a large potion of our history, for a mere pittance. We, as Americans, should stand up and revolt on so many issues. (taxes, gas prices, the war, immigration) I believe the government is using all these things, to divert our attention and keep us occupied, while they carry on more devious undertakings. It's hard to think or take a stand against wrong-doing, when you are barely keeping your head above water. No offense to either candidates but I would make a better president than these two. At least I would actually listen to people, believe in God, love every American and have experts who knew what they were talking about surrounding me. We need a common, intelligent man or woman. Not an oil man or someone with little experience and who turns his back on the American flag. All it takes is common sense, to see how far off course the government has gotten. And this nonsense about killing thousands of beautiful horses is the last straw! Make a difference, look around the country, find someone who truly loves their country and vote for him or her. Don't let the government keep us down and silent any longer. We are the people! We still have time!

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help" - run horses, run. Who 'managed' the wild horses 500 years ago? Yet another waste of my tax dollars.

Isn't man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife---birds, kangaroos, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice, foxes, and dingoes---by the million in order to protect his domestic animals and their feed. Then he kills domestic animals by the billion and eats them. This in turn kills man by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative and fatal health conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases. Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals. Meanwhile, some people are dying of sad laughter at the absurdity of man, who kills so easily and so violently, and once a year sends out cards praying for "Peac e on Earth."

These horses and burros are not native. I can show you large sections of desert in Arizona that burros has grazed clean. They are pushing out native animals (big horn sheep). Round them all up, butcher them and send them to France.

Once again the American Government has taken a stand against a innocent. First off why are there 33,000 Mustang's in Government corrals???? They should be free to roam the plains with the other animals, that have survived century's without man and should be allowed to remain to do what is natural to them not to us. Time and time again the people have given the government the power to change, our land, our religions, our speech and our very basic rights to live and breath. Now we are giving them the creatures as well and they didn't even get to vote. SHAME on all people that do not take a stand on even the most basic freedom of a animal; living in the wild, roaming and surviving on it's own without our help. You want to allow Uncle Who??? to take that as well??? Have another cocktail and change the channel...
And what is a "desertdonkey" anyway?

THIS IS JUST DOWN RIGHT HORRIBLE!!! What is wrong with our government? What right do they have to decide what creatures live or die???? Horses are one of GOD'S CREATURES!! We are taking away their space! Let the ranchers and farmers buy feed for their animals! The thought of MURDERUNG them makes me sick to my stomach. I agree with ALL of the previous comments.....leave the Mustangs alone. I agree with this statement: "If funding is the problem........my suggestion - QUIT SUPPORTING ALL OF THE ILLEGAL ALIENS. That should save more than enough to help the beautiful Mustangs........ Mr. Bush and his administration only worry about THEIR POCKETS AND NOTHING ELSE." To euthanize these beautiful creatures who have done nothing to deserve it is called MURDER!!! .......Again, I agree with the statement "I know of a few thousand people that need to be euthanized......starting with some of our high paid elected officials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Here's a thought - who managed the horses before the government stepped in? Another government screw up.

GOD PUT THESE HORSES THERE AND THEY SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE.
CAN'T THE GOVERNMENT KEEP THEIR DIRTY LITTLE HANDS OFF OF ANYTHING. WHO GIVES THEM THE RIGHT. WHY DON'T THEY WORRY ABOUT MORE IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE CONSERVING THE EARTH WE LIVE ON. THEY WANT TO GET RID OF THE HORSES, THEY ARE WORKING ON GETTING RID OF ALL THE OPEN LAND, TREES, FRESH WATER. WHY DON'T THEY WORRY ABOUT THIS....IT ALL WON'T MATTER IN A COUPLE OF YEARS THERE WON'T BE ANYWHERE FOR THE HORSES TO ROAM.

Ummm...I don't think America's wild horse population has survived an Ice Age...unless there has been an Ice Age in the past 500 years that I was unaware of. Might want to check your facts, Mr. Dokoupil. America's wild horses are not indigenous--they are descended from horses that came over with the Conquistadors.

What a disturbing thought. Maybe it is time to euthanize the ranchers and political hacks they pay off. I have always felt pride in God and Country, but sadly not the government that is suppose to represent the American People. Shame on you for creating these problems instead of finding ways to avoid them. Rememeber that red, white and blue are our colors - not the green and white from the dollar bill.

This morning there was an article that the US government (actually our tax dollars) are being spent to 'study' the grizzly bear (a bear of which can and has killed many a human) Now this afternoon there is an article about our government 'only having 36 million dollars) for the mustangs, and they want to euthanize them...This country needs to repent it is in a sad state of affairs.

Are you sure about that Ice Age thing? Horses did not survive the ice age in the Americas.
If you had bothered to read up on the history of the horse yo would find ANYWHERE something like this:

"Horses (Equus)continued to evolve and develop for another six million years after Pliohippus and became very successful, spreading throughout North America. At some point some of them crossed into the Old World via the Arctic-Asia land bridge. Then, suddenly, no one is absolutely certain why, between 10,000 and 8,000 years ago, Equus disappeared from North and South America. Various theories have been advanced including destruction by drought, disease, or extinction as a result of hunting by growing human populations. At any rate, the horse was gone from the western hemiphere. The submergence of the Bering land bridge prevented any return migration from the Old World or Asia, and the horse was not seen again on its native continent until the Spanish explorers brought horses by ship in the sixteenth century. "

ALL of the wild horses in the Americas trace back to the ones the Spanish and later visitors borught here.

Why not let the horses be, instead of deciding to give them to people. They are not ours to give moron, they are here to bee free

  • Posted By: gmoonlite @ 07/02/2008 3:24:05 PM

Lets try neutering them. It would be much cheaper then taking care of them forever. We could turn them back out to their native land and let them live in peace without them over populating. It goes without saying....NOT ALL OF THEM.

Simple solution - Release the ones they've rounded up back onto the ranges and let nature take it's course. As is the case with any wild herds, when they can't sustain themselves the weakest will die (predators or weather). Of course, the PETA types would then scream that we must intervene to prevent nature from having its way. - - - Just thought of another option, since the Libs are against drilling for more oil - and put all their hopes in far-off alternative energy solutions - many of those horses could be used for Obama's new slogan: "A chicken in every pot and a horse and buggy in every garage!"

Does anyone have any idea of how many kids in the world would love to own a horse? Why not find out & let them have one. There won't be enough horses, of course! Just make sure they have good homes. A lot of people don't know these horses in the wild are available. They are a part of our American Heritage, too!

With out those wild mustangs America would not be what it is today. They are a symbol of what America stands for. The Land of the Free and the home of the Brave. The wild Mustangs are a beautiful reminder of this. But then I suppose for all of the greedy folks who keep moving into the mountains and taking the homes of mountain lions and bears, we should just kill off all of the wildlife there is to make room for more humans to. The wildlife of America has more right to be here than we do and we should have to live around them instead of just killing off everything in our way. The wild horses have been here before any of us ever were, and if anyone should be leaving that land, it SURE AS HELL shouldnt be the Mustangs. I love this country like a true American should and I will be one of the first protestors there should this come into action. I pay my taxes and would rather them go to help the mustangs than to feed, house and give healthcare to all of our illegal immigrants!!!
