Well there's your problem, the book of Mormon is a reinterpreted and rewritten copy of the one and only bible, and sorry to say by a false prophet.

Aside from that, wild horse herds are a part of the beauty that makes our country part of what it is, let up roam free. Other creatures such as wolves, buffalo, deer, etc., roam free, why not horses?

Euthanize the useless money grubbing politicians and save the horses.

We have a lot of government agents roaming the world too. Can we start euthanizing them? What the f%^& is wrong with people?

"The evolution and development of North American eco-systems definitely included horses! 25,000 year old frozen remains of horses identical to today's wild horses have been found in the Arctic Tundra.

Horses are generally believed to have become extinct in their land of origin about 8000 - 10,000 years ago - probably at the hands of the first human immigrants (if it ever could be proved that even one tiny pocket of original horses remained, it would make legal protections for this species so much easier - but so far, there is no such evidence). "

This contradicts the first sentence of the story and puts the remainder of the stories accuracy in doubt. This is too bad as the horses need to be saved. Either through relocation, adoption, etc. Why not control the population by following the example of population control of the herd on Assateague Island.

Let see how this is going to work.

First the Government (tax payer???s money) has to round up the horses and kills them.

Second, a close friend to our Government has to clean up the mess, so he gets a No Bid Contract. More tax payer???s money.

Third he cleans up the mess by sells the horse meat in Europe, getting paid twice.

    Does this sound about right?

By all means, let's take the EASY way out! These are living, beautiful creatures that deserve to live. If we stop messing with Mother Nature, maybe we wouldn't have all of these problems. Hey, I think there are too many government employees. How's about euthanizing them to control their population!!!!!!

  • Posted By: unicorn1968 @ 07/02/2008 12:29:11 PM

No, the horses should not be killed. Seems to be the trend in this country, if it gets in your way, just kill it. Who cares? Americans talk about the sanctity of life, and claim God created all, but where is the sanctity? And who are we to kill God's creation?

    A couple of things here..

First, there's a "BLM Wild Horse & Burrow Facility" just outside of Ridgecrest, California (I can see it from my place). A nice young gal moved down from Susanville to work a feeding contract for the horses and burrows (donkeys). The contract stipulates that the employees get paid one time per month.

Well.. apparently some federal employees were cut (let go) in the Denver office. These were people that handled paying the people contracted to feed the wild horses and donkeys. So my new friend hasn't been paid in nearly 2 months... which means her bills are LATE and she will have to pay LATE FEES and her CREDIT will be affected.

I have asked her to let me contact the BLM regarding this, but she is too nice to let me get involved in this. OH, and get this.. when she does get paid, it won't be for the check she should be receiving this month, but for the one that she didn't get last month. So she'll still be off by one paycheck.

So these horses and donkeys.. most people just don't get it. They are an invasive species. They do not belong in the environment they are in. They are causing disastrous problems to amazing riparian habitats in desert areas.. just stomping down plants and defecating all over the place and especially in the streams. RUINING them. It is disgusting.

Their populations are not in check and they are competing for resources that native species should be using. They are a superfluous tax on Americans.. a "welfare cost" as I put it. Not only is the upkeep of the horses expensive (well, as I said, the Bureau of Land Managment is NOT paying my friend and causing her a large degree of financial harm, not to mention how bad it is psychologically to be in fear of not getting paid, then not getting paid and having to borrow money for things like FOOD)... but there are a lot of federal employees associated with the "managment" of these horses and donkeys. STUPID.

This is horse welfare. It's stupid. The adoptions do NOT work. People do NOT want these haggard animals (buy horsing standards, these critters are TRASH.. inbred, diseased.. just eating and defecating welfare recipients). The adoptions only further some bleeding heart welfare agenda because
1 - the horses and donkeys cost.
If BLM really wanted to get rid of these things, they'd GIVE THEM AWAY

2 - you do NOT own the horse or donkey for one year
That's right, it's still property of BLM / Federal Government for one year, even though you have to pay to feed it, etc.

I dunno.. I think the BLM is poorly managed organization and they poorly manage the land. Get this, when a horse or donkey dies out here, they just put it in a pit and don't even bury it. The coyotes and ravens just go to town, thus allowing them to populate in numbers in that the land would not naturally allow. In other words, they get a massive free food source, which in turns allows ravens and coyotes populations to grow larger than they would n

First and foremost, I do not agree with the killing of this Country???s wild horse!

However, if in our Great Wisdom, we so select, then why not ship them to other Country as Food. I understand that this Country exports horse meat to Europe anyway.

Hire a company to do the job at their expense and let them make a profit from the shipping. This way it should not cost the Tax Payers any money.

There is a herd of wild horses in the Stillwater Range and there range is no more than 6 sq. miles. This is one of the herds the BLM wants to kill. They number about 25 to 30. There are allot more cattle ranged out there than horses and the cattle range allot further. I prospect in this area so I know the range of the horses

The problem is the government has increased the cost of oil so much, we can not afford to grow hay for the wild horses (or domestic horses for that matter). Time to subsidize the fertilizer and the tractor equipement so farmers can take care of these wild horses and the domestic ones!

Also time to allow slaughter, rather than euthanazia, and get some positive value out of these horses!

I vote that we cull the government herd from the top down!

WHO CARES whether the Mustangs were here during the ice age or whether they date from the Conquistadors!?! The fact is they are here NOW and they ARE a part of our western heritage and should be protected rather than considered a nuisance. I, for one, consider the idea of having a check box on my tax form to allocate part of my yearly tax "contribution" toward the preservation of these magnificent animals to be a wonderful idea. It would be a far better use of my tax dollars than most of what I see going on in our government today and would at least give me some satisfaction that part of my money was being well spent. Certainly better spent than on electing more political candidates who, regardless of party, know little more than anyone from any previous administration about solving the real issues in our country today.

The way the price of oil is going, we may soon need "old Dobbin" to pull our cars to work or pull plows and harveting machines.
