Did you know McCain has had 4 different campaign managers? McCain just can't get it right. He keeps changing managers, as if it is their fault that he can not succeed. Fact is, McCain is NOT a good candidate.

After his first run at the Presidency when he got swift boated by Bush, his manager John Weaver got McCain to play "Maverick" and cross party lines to become a NeoLiberal. McCain almost changed parties and became a Democrat and Kerry's running mate, but at the 11th hour he switched horses again and hired Terry Nelson to manage him. Nelson is a strong GOP establishmentarianist, and got McCain to throw himself behind Bush, with promises of the GOP giving him the 2008 nomination. But Nelson didn't last, because the strategy failed. The right wing was suspicious of McCain because McCain voted against abortion, for gay rights and for gun control during his "maverick" phase. They didn't know if they could trust him. Also, Nelson spent money hand over fist, nearly bankrupting McCain's campaign. So he replaced him with Rick Davis, who was at the helm for the past year. Davis is a fiscal conservative, made McCain sell that expensive big bus, and made McCain mind his manners and act polite in public. But now, Davis has been fired too. Why? Because McCain is getting desperate, and the gloves are coming off. His new manager is Steve Schmidt, a Rove disciple and former Rove employee. McCain has also hired Nicole Wallace and Greg Jenkins to head his "Communications Team." Nic and Greg are also former Rove employees, masters of the art of swift boat smear campaigns. McCain going to let the Rove bulldogs off the leash. Look out, America, this is going to get ugly.

My prediction: the 20% of America that is made up of ignorant jingoists will be cheering to see Rove's bloody tactics. But you know what? They were all going to vote for McCain anyway. The rest of America will be so disgusted by the hatchet work of the NeoCons that they will vote AGAINST McCain.

The "last resort" tactic of the GOP to win this election will be to bomb Iran, starting another war. Mark my words, if McCain is not doing well in September, Bush will bomb Iran. He is already setting the stage for this, by saying that Iran has nuclear weapons, even thought inspections by the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency have both found NO EVIDENCE of nuclear weapons. REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING? It's the fake "weapons of mass destruction" all over again.

Did you know that on June 26, Bush, very quietly, declared a state of National Emergency? During a National Emergency the President can DECLARE WAR without waiting for the approval of Congress.

It is going to be a very bumpy ride, America, so hold on, and DON'T LET BUSH AND ROVE STEAL ANOTHER ELECTION. I wouldn't mind so much if they were good for the economy, but let's face it, they are destroying America.

Um, that's for North Korea, not Iran. And do you know how many National Emergency states we're in right now? Some of them are from the Clinton era, like this one for Cuba:

      http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/02/20010227-1.html

Or the National Emergency with Respect to Significant Narcotics Traffickers Centered in Colombia:

      http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/10/20071018-7.html

Or this one is for Zimbabwe, should we be worried about war with them next?

      http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/03/20080304-6.html

The reason it's been so quiet is that it's not that big of a deal. But if you want to use the fear tatics, go ahead.

Fear: It's not just for right-wing Republicans anymore.

The pint, Stars, is that the President can, and does, declare a "State of National Emergency" and that emergency can be used as an excuse to declare war without the approval of Congress. The link I gave is to a "National Emergency" proclamation that was in reference to the nuclear capacity in North Korea. Oddly enough, the day that Bush declared the "Emergency" he also gave a speech about normalizing relations with North Korea. Clearly, he is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Iran is similar to that bees nest right outside your front door. You walk bye and they get agitated flying around meanwhile you swat at them.Eventually you have to take the ol raid out from your cabinet and spary the nest just so they stop harassing you when you walk into your door.

...if we invade Iran we're looking at $10/gallon gas or higher as a pitched battle ensues for the Straits of Hormuz and its oilways, effectively blocking supertanker traffic, and as the dollar plunges internationally against oil that will shoot up from the $140/barrel it's already at. Many of our major businesses are already seriously ailing due to the fuel and credit crises. FedEx and other shipping companies are in trouble due to gasoline costs, American automakers are struggling with product lines built for cheap oil and a slump in demand caused by the same gas costs, and food prices are inching higher due to our increasing reliance on biofuels (which needs to be dealt with anyway, because if bad weather can wipe out the fuel supply, that's a nightmare).

That seems like an awful lot of serious disaster to come out of your "the ol raid from your cabinet" analogy. I've never sprayed a bug and watched my house burn down and my car blow up as a result.

This is a great article because it demonstrates just how good Iran is at manipulation and covert war fare. The West is always finding itself playing are reactive game of catch up to Iran. The game of chess was invented by the Pursians and they are masters at the game. This whole current situation between Iran and the West regarding neuclear technology and atomic bombs is being played by the Iranians like chess masters and the west, especially Bush, is playing the same old checkers game. Iran is just a few moves from declaring CHECKMATE, and the west doesn't have a clue, except for Isrial. If anyone thinks that Iran is difficult to deal with now, just waite until they have several neuclear bomb. Currently they are the world's leaders of state supported terror, with several bombs to give to its proxy bullly terrorist groups in the Middle East, Isrial and the rest of the world will really have a terrorist threat to contend with. These religious extremists running Iran will just feel so empowered that they will not hesitate to blow up several million people to just get some attention. I say, strike them first and hit them hard, even if it means using atomic bombs. Show them that the game that they are playing is a serious one . They need to experience the effects of atomic bombs first hand to realize just how much damage and pain they can cause. Japan certainly learned the lesson quickly and stoped all war fare. It ended World War II. If Iran is not stoped soon, they may well be the cause of World War III.

R Lawrence, this is a game of cat and mouse and the U.S. with this administration is hell bent of attacking Iran. Do youself and favore so you can know the truth of this administrations foreign policy. Look up the "Wolfowitz Doctine" written by Pauk Wolfowitz from 1988 - 1991 before the first gulf war. Afghanistan was first, next Iraq, then Iran and Syria. This is what is happening right now. Iran is next. Go to Google and look it up yourself. This counrty would smash Iran and so would Isreal if Iran attacked either country. 150 nukes in the Israel's arsonal, this is just a game of power and oil. Wolfowitz Doctine!!

"Too often Iran is depicted as a monolithic terror state hell bent on a bomb when in fact it has a history of mostly careful, reasonable behavior."

Gee, if Hirsch would only give our own country as much credit.

No dice. Hirsh is to the left of Che,with this article involving mostly wishful thinking. I find it curious that leftwingers who whine over the state of nuclear powers in the world are quite ready to accept another one,as if more nukes would bring more peace. Hirsh is also hedging. From his 2007 article in utter acceptance of the now-dangerously flawed NIE[which even had Democrats pounding on Mike McConnell the other day at a congressional hearing regarding this very paper],he now adopts a more unsure approach, yet ready to take the Mullahs and their smooth-talking Saville Row-suited cronies at their word.

Nins, nice speech. If America is being destroyed, it is because of laziness and complaceny among the people. Not enough people vote or become active in politics to make changes or keep corrupt politicians out of office. But, everyone sure voices their opinion on how horrible our country is right now!!

America is to blame for America's problems, not one President or one Congress. If people are unhappy, they should get off their butts and do something to change things!! That won't happen, though. People would rather just complain and remain politically lazy.
