Meeks, Rev. Otis, Father Pfleger and the TUCC; then it was Louis Farrakhan; then it was the New Black Panthers; then it was Aiham Alsammarae; then it was Jodie Evans; then it was Hamas; then it was Hugo Chavez; then it was Fidel Castro; then it was Muammar al-Gaddafi; then it was North Korea's Kim Jong-Il; then it was the Communist Party USA; then it was ___; and then it was ___.

Enter Your Comment Rezko is nothing compared to Charles Keating and saving and loans scandal that McCain was part of,or Enron that Bush was knee deep in with Kenneth Lay.

HUGE difference....McCain was investigated and found clear of any wrongdoing. He was censured for his relationship. He made the necessary corrections. He was a young inexperienced Senator. Hussein/Rezko/Ayers/Wright/Sinclair/etc.etc.etc...the list is virtually endless, makes those relationships mild.

Rezko is working on a Federal Witness Protection Amnesty deal right now. To gain his freedom, Hussein will lose his. Ironic don't ya' think?

"Obama did not defend Clark" discussion closed! If Bush is SUPPOSED to be responsable for all who voted for him? how many are now in jail, mmm! You cannot hold a person who did not say a word, accountable for morons in his party. If so, then McCain must bear the brunt of the holly follower spewing religious hate, named Hollyroller, right??? If that's all he has got, he is in big trouble, cause McCains relations to questionable people, fills 4 full pgs in here. Just to cover his last 10 years in the Senate!

Quck, start making more babies! We'll need them, in 20 years, to go to Iraq.

Oh, sorry, the armed forces "expert" originally said that Iraq would be quick and easy, a few months. I guess a "few" is some number in the hundreds.

HolyRoller, I read your comments and over and over it becomes obvious you have no idea what you are talking about.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 07/04/2008 2:15:51 PM

I know exactly what I am talking about. The real vetting of Hussein is about to come. He is a crook and a fraud, and America will very soon see who he truly is. You have NO IDEA why you support him. You can't. Any reasonable American should laugh at him.

Folks, I implore you to ignore HolyRoller. He/she is just out to troll and incite anger. The only thing Holy about Mr/Ms/Mrs Roller is the ignorant spew that flies out of her brain and on to the keyboard.

So, I call for a moratorium on replies to HolyRoller's ignorant and yet insidious remarks.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 07/04/2008 2:56:38 PM

I don't expect a reply. Hard to dispute facts. BUT...what attracts you to a Hussein election? Are you commie, mohammed, loon, or a Illinois recipient of their organized crime ring? Don't be shy. Educate us all on his advantages. Be careful though. He flip-flopped on most of them this week.

hey peepee....didn't you shake Bin Laden's hand as a 17 yr. old Marine, in Afghanistan? When we only had C.I.A. advisors there. I should be saluting you on July 4th. Very few teenagers reach those levels of accomplishment, at such a young age. You NEVER tell the truth. I think your a mohammed yourself.

    Bull!

He never claimed that his comrades were war criminals. If you watch the REAL tape, you will see that he was telling Congress what soldiers had told him., not what he thought.

  • Posted By: gwinegarden @ 07/04/2008 2:52:17 PM

The spin is on! What Gen. Clark was respnding to was a comment " unlike McCain, Obama has not "ridden in a fighter plane and gotten shot down." This statement certainly implied that Bob Schieffer thought it was relavent. Did the feneral say that McCain was saying that this made him a better candidate? No!

Bob Schieffer was implying something and General Clark was refuting it. Simple as that.

I love it! The MSM love affair with McCain continues ... If it is not OK for Clift to question McCain because of his service, then why is it OK for her to criticize Clark? Seems to me that his service earned him the right to criticize the politics of using service to justify qualification for the highest office in the land. Where was this outrage over Swift Boats or Max Clellan's treatment?

  • Posted By: mk3872 @ 07/04/2008 2:44:42 PM

I love it! The MSM love affair with McCain continues. They are determined to see grampy in the White House because he kissed their butts sooooo much. Where was this sort of outrage against Bush for John Kerry or Max Clellan? Seems to me as if Gen. Clark earned his right to criticize politicizing service whereas Eleanor Clift just sits around and rights opinions from an ivory tower.

Try to keep the facts staight. The Obama's didnt go to college on the taxpayer's dime. They took out student loans and have repaid all of them. Frankly I cant think of any good leglislation passed by McCain in those 20 years. What has he been doing all that time?

Oh, the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform, the Gang of 14, been a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and the list goes on and on. But if you're too lazy to actually research the candidates yourself before forming an opinion of them....

            • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 07/04/2008 1:52:54 PM

McCain's mistake was befriending Charles Keating. He was reprimanded, took his critisism like a MAM (something Hussein finds foreign), and became the Senate's most outspoken critic against bribes. He is feared and respected. Hussein is TOAST.

Who do you think subsidized those student loans? So, yes they did go to college on the taxpayers' dollars.

  • Posted By: sparky716 @ 07/04/2008 1:51:12 PM

I was in the US Navy from 1963 to 1967 and I don't feel that makes me qualified to be president, McSame is a hero for being a prisnor of war, but think about it...how many missions did we fly in Vietnam any how many fighter planes were shot down...if any thing he failed his mission...he was shot down and lost his plane...being in the Vietnam war has nothing to do with being president or Al Gore would be president today...he went to Vietnam twice and bush's dad got him in the guard where did not even show up most of the time....bush is a real fighter if some one else goes for him, and the VP dick c. got 5 deferments because he was to busy to go so why is McSames service in the same navy I was in qualify him to be president?

    • Posted By: Galasso @ 07/04/2008 2:16:38 PM

I suppose we can assume you never served a day in combat. How can you say anyone who was shot down by superior surface to air missiles failed his mission. The B-17 crews in WWII who were shot down - can we conclude they failed their missions as well? I think the fact that the crews and pilots who continued to fly mission after mission in dangerous territory are truly the ones who should be honored. I know that as a ground combat soldier - the most beautiful sight in the world was an F-4 Phantom providing immediate close air support - especially when we had wounded and couldn't get a medevac. The one thing no one ever talks about is how many of the POWs died in captivity. Normally its easy to dismiss all the garbage you see on this site as ramblings from some opinionated weasel who would never put himself at risk for his country - but it's disturbing that a veteran of the US Navy would diminish the legacy of the strength of character of those who survived and led the POWs while serving in horrendous life-threatening conditions. My second tour in Vietnam was with the Joint Casualty Resolution Center (JCRC) and a C-141 Starlifter was quietly dispatched to Hanoi with recovery teams to bring back the remains of the Americans who were interred behind the prison. It was not a pleasant experience in the Hanoi Hilton. To dismiss the service and sacrifice of any American who wound up in captivity as "failing his mission" is about as low as I have seen in public print. Wesley Clark, who was relieved early as the NATO commander for his egregious error in judgment at Pristina, is also on the attack bandwagon for Senator McCain's service record. It must be because such a large number of Americans see it as a huge plus in determining character.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 07/04/2008 2:08:08 PM

swabbing the deck is a little different to McCain's history. He served several yrs. as a squadron leader, and has served his country admirably for 20 yrs. as a Senator. Hussein has smoked crack, took love limo rides, hung with crooks and terrorists, and votes present or OOPs consistently. You are voting for a complete crook and fraud.

    A surprisingly fair editorial.

I believe Newsweek is trying to back to "fair and balanced".

I stopped my subscription several years ago because of their one sided nature to all stories. May have to reconsider......

Better to spend tax dollars on education than on an unnecessary war. Last time I check most loans are through a bank that charges interest. Yes its backed by the taxpayer but the banks get their cut as well.
As for globalazation, have you looked at the latest jobs report. I think it's a little late for regrets over NAFTA.

  • Posted By: crct2004@hotmail.com @ 07/04/2008 12:36:44 PM

Eleanor, I used to admire you greatly, as you always made the most sense on the McLaughlin Group, however since this campaign I feel i don't even recognize you. Did you drink the Obama cool aide?

  • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 07/04/2008 12:06:08 PM

While the men and women in uniform have been fighting and dying to keep our nation sovereign and free, there are neo-liberals and neo-conservatives in Congress who are doing their hardest for GLOBALIZATION. The more neo's in office, the less freedoms we have, the less sovereign our nation becomes.

When the buzz word is GLOBALIZATION and not FREEDOM, it's time to throw the bums out. And, Obama's change includes GLOBALIZATION.

  • Posted By: phyl48 @ 07/04/2008 11:24:23 AM

The Obama's were not going to college on the taxpayer's dime. They took out thousands of dollars in student loans and have repaid all of it.. Get your facts straight. Can you name any good leglislation that
McCain has passed during that 20 years. I cant.

  • Posted By: david-fahey @ 07/04/2008 11:21:56 AM

i guess i do not get it. are onlt D's military service open to question? gen. clark did not say mccain was not a great american. he merely stated that the senator's military record showed no artifacts in scholarship, rank or training that made him more qualified than senator obama to be president and C-I-C. no more than JFK getting his P.T. boat sawed in half made him a great prez. as far as C-I-C role, it is to assure civilian control over the generals and armed forces to prevent a military takeover( like the right wing plot vs. FDR) not direct troop command. for the R's to get their panties in a bunch over this is kind of a "kettle calling pot..."(i don't think it is PC to finist the anology) thing. the R's have a long list of "patriot R hero's" who questioned D service and patriotism of D's. (ex.) Taft, 'tailgunner joe', RMN, R R, G W B, cheney and the whole newt wing of the GOOP. over the years the R's have savaged, ignored or lied about the service of the D's. sen.'s; e. mccarthy, mcgovern, muskie and kerry all had their patriotism questioned and their service and courage questioned. and president carter's naval service is rarely praised. while the R's have been led by draft dodgers, chicken hawks and guy's who had other proirities and sent troops into harms way never the less. it is not like gen. clark kept alive the fiction that mccain almost sunk the uss forrestal. or that mccain engaged in a corrupt criminal conspiracy in the Keating mess. as to the overall claim that the GOOP is better at defending this country someone please name the major conflict/wars that the R's have won. i mean real war's not the vanity war's in granada, panama and iraq(fought with bill c's military which the R's claim was gutted). the D's fought the germans twice and the japanese once and won. fought the communist chinese and russia to a standstill twice. help win the Cold War( no RR did not do it all by himself). while the R's have cut and run from: korea, viet nam, lebanon, somalia and the balkins. failed us all on 9/11. they failed so far to subdue the A Q and it's leaders. bungled the "peace" in iraq and "broke" our military in the opinion of many. john mccain served his country beyond the 'call' . but in modern politics sadly everything is fair game, in this case the R's named the game and open up a patriot to such charges.
