So McCain is either a liar or he is so incompetent that he can't get the numbers correct. I'm tired of lying and/or incompetent politicians so he doesn't get my vote.

An interesting diatribe going on here, obviously partisan and totally uproductive. When are we going to get it through our heads that career politicians are all snakes, willing to bend or distort the facts to get relected. IMHO, we should push for term limits on all senators, congress, supreme court justices etc., so that people in all areas of government are less insulated from the people place them in thse positions of power. Career poiticians have absolutely no concerpt of what real life is and how the average person goes about their life and what issues they face on a daily basis.

Drinks are on the house. Well said. But I know Obama will do his best and he will make mistakes. These idiots called republicans aren't working with someone who's made mistakes. This guy called POTUS has committed no fewer than 30 crimes while in office and it is a low down dirty shame that our citizens are so weak not to demand to have his ass served up on a silver platter and dished out to the inmates in a maximum security prison. How many more soldiers and Iraqis have to die under this criminal??

McCain's facts on many issues to include the war are simply wrong. It is amazing how many of you who support our being in Iraq are the very ones who will never and would never themselves go into harms way in support of this or any war, however they don't mind sending others children to do their dirty work while they blindly speculate on what will happen if we leave Iraq. The "great surge" is working but not because we are all of a sudden winning the war but because we have stopped many of the missions outside of the FOBs resulting in less direct contact with the insurgents and opportunities to encounter IEDs and small arms fire. The premise for the surge (a larger show of force) will only be successful if you plan to continue at this rate of personnel on the ground forever. The insurgents only have to wait us out, outside the combat zone until we drop our numbers back to pre-surge totals and move back into the combat zone and restart their attacks. Bottom line is the surge is only a temporary fix unless you are planning to be there forever. I wonder how many of you would still be in favor of staying if your children and possibly grand children (If McCain has his way) are forced to go to war in Iraq, (DRAFT). It is time to get out of this useless situation and refocus on the actual war on terror.

    • Posted By: hankfm6 @ 07/09/2008 2:20:29 PM

And wait us out they will. Just like the blowout that happened to russian troops. Some people don't have any vision, they can only see what's directly in front of them. Our voting record says alot about our mentalities. Come-on, really, think about it for a minute folks ( You have voted Bush into office twice). I think that in-and-of-it-self, speaks volumes. But I try to refrain from calling people names. I'll leave that up to the Iraqis. They are the ones who have lost in this BLUNDER OF A WAR!

"Comment: Politics as usual. The only way we can tell the difference between McCain and Obama is their actual ability to work in a nonpartisan manner in Washington DC. Who will work effectively with the other party?"

Much to the dismay of staunch Conservatives and many Republicans, McCain has proven that he will work with the other party in a nonpartisan way. Obama, in his brief US Senate career, has not once crossed the aisle or moderated towards a non-Liberal, non-Democrat position.

That means, at least by this one measure, that McCain is the only plausible choice for President in 2008.

    • Posted By: RevWright @ 07/09/2008 1:53:21 PM

McCain is the only plausable choice by any measure. Unless of course you like handing over to the presidency to a junior Senator with no experience and no backbone. I loved his response to Irans missile test. Nothing about what he was going to do. Only more Bush bashing. He must have checked his Jimmy Carter political response book for that one. The left wingers looked hard to find this idiot.

      • Posted By: hankfm6 @ 07/09/2008 2:11:08 PM

Poor pre-emptive strike. Obama has very low risk factor compared to his competition.

  • Posted By: theairdog @ 07/09/2008 1:25:37 PM

I suppose that truth meant so much to Bill Clinton, too, eh? Wasn't he a Democrat?

When Mark Twain was shown a grave and told, "Here lays an honest man and a politician", replied, "How did they fit two people into one grave?"

    • Posted By: hankfm6 @ 07/09/2008 2:08:38 PM

Bill Clinton is a smart politician but he was just as bad as he was good. He lied too. Forget democrat or republican. A liar is a liar, ok?

I see the Obamaites are finally starting to realize the McCain is George Bush tactic isn;t working. Now they have a new nickname. McWar. I guess we can only expect childish pet names from the Obamaites. I'd love to actually meet an Obamaite with a mental age of better than 20.

    • Posted By: hankfm6 @ 07/09/2008 2:00:33 PM

Better than the lies leading the lies. Ignorance is more trustworthy than deceit. It don't take a genius to figure that out.

  • Posted By: hankfm6 @ 07/09/2008 1:55:34 PM

Iraq is still a mess. And what a mess we made there. It will be a mess getting out. You should be concerned with any candidate fudging the numbers. Isn't that what Bush did with your minds countless times past, present and great that there's little future in that regard. You folks keep falling for the same Bushigan tricks. You can't see the forest for the trees. We should be outraged anytime we are lied to. That way we begin to take action instead of sitting back in our little lives thinking these things are not of vital importance. These little lies add up to big problems people. When will you learn. Obama is a rookie politician whipping the moth ridden pants off McCain. McCain doesn't remember the figures he quoted and repeatedly gaffs on his facts and judgement. He is too old to be expected to perform with the sharpness needed to run a country. Why in the hell do you folks think that people his age have to requalify for their drivers licenses? There are some real dummies out there. Common sense is not the trademark of most McCain supporters as it shows here. They just don't want Obama. H'mm, I wonder what the real reason is??? Well, let McCain send your kids off to kill people who have done nothing to us in Iraq so you can support the case for bombing the rest of the middle east. Those people are very smart and don't like hipocrites bombing their people behind these lies you guys like to listen to. Mine ain't going under the sloppy judgement of these republican idiots.

  • Posted By: RevWright @ 07/09/2008 1:49:47 PM

Yeah right. and the democrats are the seekers of the truth. LOL......If Obama wins it will be a typical example of the blind leading the blind.

  • Posted By: mlkonnewsweek @ 07/09/2008 11:30:52 AM

Hurray for Newsweek! It's been too long since the press honored its true role investigating and verifying the constant propaganda we hear from politicians. The Republicans have perfected the exploitation of the press through their "big lie" euphemisms. It's such a relief to hear a voice grounded in reality and willing to challenge them.

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:25:50 PM

Ha ha factcheck has been doing that for years now....but oh wait....factcheck has some article too of Obama lying and fudging numbers too....do you still like factcheck now?

      • Posted By: RevWright @ 07/09/2008 1:49:29 PM

I agree. I just hope they start doing with the empty suit soon. But they are all afraid of being called a racist by the Obamaites if they say anything bad about him. Disgusting how his campaign has used the race card to protect this swindler. I just watched a video of Obama campaign people in indiana in the primary. The election people had to chase them out since they were campaigning two feet from where they were casting votes. But then I guess since it was Obama and his cronies it's ok to break the election rules. I laughed when they tossed them out. How many Obamaites have been to factcheck.org to check out his claims. Not many iwould assume since you are still voting for this crook.

The conservatives are out to get Jon McCain. These people base all of they're so-called knowledge from false religious beliefs that would only bring our country in a backwards direction. These are the same people that are making a religious stance on the war on terrorism. The fact is that all the information can be called out like that because there are all different sources. We must move in a forward direction as a country and see what ignorance really is.

    • Posted By: j.n @ 07/08/2008 10:33:48 PM

What does religion have to do with the lies in this ad?.

      • Posted By: mc4921 @ 07/08/2008 10:41:33 PM

Religion has little or nothing to do with the ad. What I'm saying is those are the people that are looking for things wrong with McCain. Any journalist or anyone could find something wrong with information because there are so many different sources to look for.

        • Posted By: mrlewis67 @ 07/09/2008 12:56:23 AM

You're ignorant......I gues people should just listen to what he says and not seek the knowledge themselves.

          • Posted By: RevWright @ 07/09/2008 1:39:46 PM

Why wouldn't we expect you to do that. Obama supporters have had their eyes closed for the entire campaign so far. I mean really you all believed the Tony Rezko statement Obama made. "This is not the Tony Rezko I knew" You feel for that one and never bothered to seek out the truth. When he told us that all of his records as an Illinois State Senator were lost you believed that too. So yes I think you should just listen to what he say's and not seek the knowledge just like all Obamaites do. The bottom line is the only campaign Obama can run is a mudslinging campaign. It's not like he can run a campaign based on his own experience. He has none!!!!!

        • Posted By: mrlewis67 @ 07/09/2008 12:52:33 AM

          Thank you for being ignorant.......

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:24:48 PM

Correct, one candidate has a record of cross aisle cooperation, the other has talk.

  • Posted By: funkdome @ 07/09/2008 8:30:50 AM

Gee, I wonder why they didn't reprint the Obama inaccuracies found at FactCheck.org.

Maybe its because Newsweek is a disgrace to journalism and is just a mouthpiece for whatever Demcrat is running against a Republican.

In fact, the story was so important that it got on the front page of MSNBC too. No bias there either.

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:24:12 PM

They do but all the Obama supporters go on a "factcheck" is biased diatribe. Then those same people come to a factcheck about McCain and its all...."See McCain lies." Totally forgetting that they were calling factcheck biased and unfair....blah blah blah....cherry picking the information.
Yeah McCain's campaign fudged the numbers....big deal....all typical politicians do it even Obama.

    • Posted By: garypt1973 @ 07/09/2008 11:56:45 AM

Whether Obama's ad is inaccurate is a separate issue. What about McCain's ad? Republicans are great at always changing the subject when they're caught in a lie...which is most of the time lately. And slamming Newsweek in the process is a waste. If Newsweek was such a left wing magazine as you claim, then why are reading it? It's always the easiest way out of an argument by attacking the source with no actual information...you're just throwing out the accusation without backing it up with facts...again something that seems to be happening a lot lately.

    • Posted By: 4carol @ 07/09/2008 8:59:27 AM

The facts are there; and in this ad there is only one!! The only way McShame can win is to lie, just like the present GOP!!

  • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/08/2008 10:06:36 PM

McCain's campaign is just practicing the same "new politics" as Obama. You should all be happy. Obama has fudge numbers too and over blown his resume, just look at the other factcheck articles. Why are you all up in arms about Obama lies and deceit too?

    • Posted By: Wisconsin Voter @ 07/08/2008 11:36:49 PM

LOL So it's Obama's fault that McWar lied again? What are you on?

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:32:24 AM

Well I know your on Kool Aid. HA
No all politicians lie, even your great Obama. They all fluff their resumes, the difference is that McCain never claimed to be practicing "New Politics."
To be honest, I don't like all of McCain's policies but I don't like all of Obama's either.
McCain is pandering to much to the right with his Bush Tax policy, but Obama is pandering too much to the Left with his quasi- socialist Tax Tax Tax then give it all to the poor so they don't have to do anything. So I support McCain's more because it rewards hard work, while Obama's rewards laziness. But that's my opinion, and no doubt you think it's crap, but then again I probably think your's is too.
All policy aside, even though I'm a strong proponent of Nuclear Energy, for me it comes down to judgment. Who do you trust more?
I simply trust McCain a whole lot more than Obama.
Simply put McCain was right on The Surge and Obama was wrong. McCain tied his political future to a very unpopular strategy that drew ire from both GOP and Dems, but ultimately proved to be the right choice.
I hope your not one of those so anti-Bush Dems that fails to see how disastrous it would have been to leave Iraq in the kind of mess it was in, in 2006. I was and am against going into Iraq in the first place, but if we had left, we would have absolutely no clout on ANY humanitarian mission ever again. Any Dem that would leave Iraq like that, then complain about Tibet or Burma or Darfur would have to be shot, because the hypocrisy would be just too much.
That's not the only issue I have with Obama when it comes to judgment but the other have been hashed over plenty of times, so I'll refrain from "distracting."

        • Posted By: jericho4119 @ 07/09/2008 4:49:55 AM

Wow. You claim to have been against the war and then further claim to believe that McCain has better judgment.

Do you even know that Obama was against the war to begin with?

So in effect, you are saying that people who share your beliefs have "bad judgment" and that you only support people who disagree with you.

Put all of that aside for just a moment: this is an article from Factcheck.org that tells us all of the facts in a recent McCain commercial do not check out as truthful. Now, there are more articles from factcheck.org and I am sure there are some that disagree with the facts of an Obama ad or two; why not place your comments on those ads on those articles - instead of this one?

How about commenting here about whether or not these examples of McCain lying make you more or less likely to support him? You can attack Obama on many other places across the internet for having the audacity to share your judgment.

          • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:20:14 PM

Imagine that, you can have been against the war in Iraq and still be a McCain supporter. It's really not that hard. You can't go back in a time machine and change the fact that we went in and now we have to finish what we started. Remember Powell and the Pottery Barn thing.
And no matter what, McCain's strategy worked. While Obama's would have plunged Iraq into a mess.
The one with the bad judgment is Obama. Wrong strategy and a whole list of other things, like Wright, Johnson, etc...that shows he has bad judgment. Yet you support him, so that just shows you have bad judgment too.
And I'm sure you don't care but I was responding to another post. If you didn't like the topic then why did you respond?

Around most of America; east coast, west coast and midwest....Obama is being viewed as a phony with a nice smile. The issue of Obama's "close 20 year relationship" with a bigot named Reverand Wright is being discussed at the water cooler by White, Asian, Jewish Americans and an increasing number of Latinos Americans, every day more and more. And the good reverand's "close relationship" with one of America's biggest racists, Louis Farrakhan, who was given a lifetime achievement award. (Wow). Hello? Birds of a Feather....and most of America is starting to figure it out. Especially Hillary fans and Jewish voters. Remember, this is the same nation that re-elected a very unpopular George Bush only 3 1/2 years ago during an unpopular war. - And now....46-44....the Obama Fever Gap is wearing off fast. - John McCain will win this election.

Who is not a bigot but a Black man with Black American experiences....but since that's all you white conservatives have to hold on too...

Yep already busted the poll your basing everything from. It is highly conservative (not in a political way) and the latest change is only a minor change in a DAILY poll.

You can also go and check other polls where McWar LOST a point.

So I guess your just a fake and full of lies! Just like McWar..

  • Posted By: wmaslen @ 07/09/2008 12:57:19 PM

The McCain ad does NOT get the facts wrong --- they simply LIE like good Bushies.

  • Posted By: distantsmoke @ 07/08/2008 11:35:59 PM

Interesting. Looking at Newsweek (aka Islamweek), I would have to surmise that Barrack Obama doesn't ever get his facts wrong. It must be nice to be absolutly perfect. I say this because I only see reports where Sen McCain has gotten his facts wrong. So assuming there is no bias LOL, it must be that Sen Obama is perfectly correct in all his claims.

    • Posted By: MTR1973 @ 07/09/2008 12:56:15 PM

Islamweek? Oh, are you one of the stupid people who still clings to the urban legend that Obama is Muslim? That's adorable.

    • Posted By: j.n @ 07/09/2008 12:06:11 AM

I see you did not watch any news over the holidays.

      • Posted By: distantsmoke @ 07/09/2008 12:42:50 AM

I was merely commenting on Newsweek's one sided reporting. I did not comment on any news at all. I merely pointed out that Newsweek was only reporting on Sen McCain's failures to get his facts correct. That would lead one to assume that Sen Obama never gets his facts incorrect. Once again, I was commenting on Newsweek's reporting, not on the news itself.

        • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/09/2008 1:36:06 AM

Of course Newsweek is biased. How many McCain ads do you see advertised on newsweek? How many Obama ads?

        • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 07/09/2008 12:53:33 AM

They do report on Obama, but that's not what this is about. right or wrong, but which story is he saying is the correct one, the speach, or the radio ad. That's what i red.

    • Posted By: Wisconsin Voter @ 07/08/2008 11:45:18 PM

Ya your not bias at all! LOL

Instead of blaming Obama for EVERYTHING why don't you point out when Mcwar was accused of pushing lies and it turned out he was telling the truth?

      • Posted By: distantsmoke @ 07/09/2008 12:34:13 AM

Please point out where I blamed Sen Obama for anything. I merely pointed out that Newsweek was only reporting on one side of the story. You could try reading an entire sentence for a change.

  • Posted By: feduo @ 07/09/2008 1:50:23 AM

Big Deal, but how about the 700,000 technical and trades jobs the country would create by nuke power, oil drilling, and coal shell plus developing alt energy programs which Mac promotes and Oblowme don't.. Newsweek go back and suck up to that lame ghetto tax raising candidate that Sorros and his cronies pay you and NBC off with. Most people know Newsweek is in the red and getting money in their begger cup to say anything the left wants.

    • Posted By: MTR1973 @ 07/09/2008 12:54:21 PM

    • Posted By: George from Westerville @ 07/09/2008 2:04:28 AM

The term "ghetto" reveals your racial bias. Obama was raised by his white grandmother in some tough conditions, but ended up with a Harvard education, and gave much of his time helping folks in the inner city. Obama wants to reduce taxes for the middle class and working class, but roll back taxes for the wealthy to levels of the 90s. When hedge fund managers making a billion dollars a year only pay 15% taxes on their income, something ain't right. Sad that there are people like you that are so uninformed and spewing nonsense and venom.
