Obama is the only one who is arrogant enough to consider himself ANYTHING like JFK. I remember JOFK and Obama would not qualify to shine his shoes.

He is nothing but a lying, anti-American racist in my opinion and most of the people at that stadium witll be there to protest against the crooked DNC this year.

I guess if Obama was a candidate who messed around with movie stars ( like Marilyn Monroe, as JFK), you'd consider him as being good enough to run for the president. Obama is a family man concerned about solving the problems, in America, not some other man's woman. Yet, many consider JFK, as being classy, not a bed-hopper.

Now who's being naive.... We know nothing about this man so don't assume he's not immoral as others... The mass media and others have yet to vet this man to the fullest extent. When that day ever comes (and for some of us it can't come too soon), we'll see what this man is made of.... And it won't be the carefully constructed puppet that he seems now.

Right on. Make sure your friends are registered.

He is a likeable guy, but definitely no JFK. Trying to recreate that mystic is a serious error. True leaders are born of their own making and acomplishments. He should stop trying to bask in glory and fame and get to work.

Obama's grandiosity is monumental. The audacity of this dope is breathtaking. Where does it come from?

  • Posted By: auntidi @ 07/09/2008 1:56:50 PM

Democrats aren't in charge of the gas prices. Who is in office? Big oil men! Lillea you have your facts all messed up!

  • Posted By: peace4world @ 07/09/2008 1:29:35 PM

Jonathan, thanks for your article. I agree with you. Senator Obama's FISA Compromise has made his supporters and liberals upset. Do you compromise your values?

  • Posted By: Psi1Nupe1 @ 07/09/2008 1:29:00 PM

You have got to do better than that. Carbon footprint! PLEASE! Stop drinking the cool aide! You are just upset that McCain can't fill Invesco Field. Stop reaching!

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 07/09/2008 11:40:41 AM

The man wants to speak in a stadium. That's about it. The rest of the article hardly rises above the level of what brand of toilet tissue the candidate uses.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 07/09/2008 1:22:39 PM

Thanks olderwiser, now since you brought it up now newseek will do an article on the brand of toilet tissue the candidate uses.

  • Posted By: lillea @ 07/09/2008 1:20:06 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this Democrat Convention supposed to be "green"? How in the world can using the Invesco Field save energy? What would the "carbon foot print" for this even be???????????? And who will pay for all the carbon credits?????????? And what rich elite politician will have their wallet padded by the carbon credits ?

Generational envy? That's rich. How about the author's generational solipsism? The boomers who tirelessly fight out old battles, oblivious to the broad, internecine consequences? The boomer who are the first generation to creat an America in which their children stand to be worse off than they were? Generational envy misses the point totally. It's an attempt at generational escape. Prying a new future from the firm grip of the boomers who won't retire or relinquish or move on until they carried off in a box. Generational envy?! Generational contempt is more likely. The fact that the author misreads it so badly, shows another boomer looking downward to his navel as the center of the universe.

Obviously this will be an historic moment in America and I'm glad that as many people as possible will get to see it in person. I don't think anyone is going to be there to protest. Protest what? The Democratic nominee for president? There are no greater risks this time than there is any other time. You either connect with your audience or you don't. No election has ever turned on the acceptance speech of a candidate.

    • Posted By: whala @ 07/09/2008 12:48:16 PM

You are probably right about not having protestors there. That's because, for the most part, conservative people still know how to respect an individual--even if they disagree with what he stands for.

hey I think you want just to instigate and cover what has been going on for iver 16 month's people had a choice of two candidates of change yet for Obama if he win's or loses we are still proud of him for his courage to be able to go for something he want's this is bigger that what you think you see even you should be glad the youth's or to young as you say were not around for the thing's that happened back then were able go down for mostly out of fear of poverty and our faith in Jesus keep most of the people from being as voilent as they felt ,yet even I am concerned maybe it was rough youngins then but now times have really changed and some know we still got a long way to and keep something''s from our young for their was never a real apology just the grace of GOD that has been instilled from generation to generation so those other leader's are part of this through sacrifices so if America was to really wake up and look at this race he has been persicuted enough hung enough dragged enough so can he be free of all this doubt even you had to over-come someone elses shoe's to get your own page good for you why not really do some reporting and speak on how he won to the nomination, how much money he ended up with after the primaries, how many Senator's,Delagate Governor's,Whites, Blacks,Latinos,Asain's,Native American's,Jews,Israsilies or immigrant that who have been here and want change this is historic cover it like it you need to build him for when he get the nod he need's to be well represented abroad and at home this is not a sporting event this is the future for the next five year's to come not crisis of fear that one party want's us to think about and most religous sect's should be ashamed if they are not looking at the time's leading up to this moment in time we are ready for the movement to move us sorry news-week and Howard

Obama is clueless as ever. Instead of invoking those historical figures, he should actually do something remiscent of them and take a stand on an issue, any issue. So far, the only thing he has shown is political opportunism. I can't remember a time where any major canidate has gotten so far without actually accomplishing anything. What a loser and if he's elected, we will all be losers. Someone please tell him that he can't just be "present" in the white house, he actually has to stand for something.

  • Posted By: taubekat @ 07/09/2008 12:22:05 PM

Obama is not comparing himself to either person. The media is making this comparison. Wise up people the media is the devil...just kidding.

The article's endless minutiae of speculative detail reminds one of Alex Cosell, the sports announcer who covered the early days of Monday Night Football. Just as a runner crossed the goal line in one game, he excitedly narrated a conversation that he had recently had with the runner's mother and how she told Cosell about an event in the runner's childhood. It was so irrelevant to anything except Cosell's need to seem personally acquainted with every athlete in the industry that I forget what she had told him.
George Washington had a big smile and so does Obama. Maybe we ought to work a comparison of Obama with George Washington into the article while we are at it. And, let's see, Abraham Lincoln was from Obama's home state. Let's get him into the article, too. Maybe he's copying Lincoln, too, in the convention. Is rainfall the risk? What risk? It's a speech in a stadium.

MLK was born in 1929. If alive he would be 79, not 87. Any other "errors" in this piece?
