I do honestly and wholeheartedly believe that this atrocity occured. I commend the author, Blackmon, for being brave enough to bring this matter out in the open. I have heard tales from the elders as a child telling these same tales of woe. I do, however, criticize this work on two grounds (1) That the South was the only reigieon of the US guilty of this sort of practise. (2) That african Americans were the only group subjected to this abuse. The simultaneous rise of the Union in other parts of the nation vindicated my first and second question. Evidently a large mass of people were tired of being opressed and were even willing to fight large battles(brice's mountain in WV where over 50 men died. The colorado massacre in 1919 where over 200 men, wemen and children died)and die to change this matter. All of this business changed with the rise of the Union in the 50's. Please, Mr. Blackmon, tell the whole story, not just what is ploitically correct to say. L Dowless. hldowless@hotmail.com

    NaTu,
I do believe that there is a such thing as a generational curse, but I also believe the testimonies of the disciples of Christ. Galatians 3:13 (King James Version)
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
I believe these words found in Galatians and so did many African Americans in the past. It is my humble opinion, based on scripture, that accepting Christ as your savior makes you one of us redeemed from the curse of the law. So then, it may be that we, believers of all races, all over the world, suffer evil and violence but remember:
Matthew 11:12 (King James Version) And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
    Luke 17:1 (King James Version)
Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
    And:

    John 15:20 (King James Version)
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Revelation 12:11 (King James Version) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
And what a testimony many African American believers will have! I believe that a spiritual war rages and things are deeper than you and I will ever know ??? in this lifetime anyway. I am glad to see you have your thinking cap on. So, to my fellow believers whoever you are, look in the mirror and see a child of The One True Living GOD, immortal as heirs to eternal life.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (KJV JOHN 17)
