I have no doubt that Obama and Jackson both knew what Jackson was going to say, and I do not think it was an accident. Jackson has been around long enough to know that anytime you have the microphone. on and are setting in your assigned chair the microphone is liable to be on. Jackson knows most white conservatives do not think much of him, and if he says some thing bad about a candidate it will likely help that candidate. The same goes for Clinton in 92.

I agree with you, elhelh...this was planned from the git-go...a page from the Clinton political manual designed to make Obama more likeable to middle American "white guys" who have no use for Jesse Jackson and his rantings. Nice play unless America knows what you're doing...then it's just politics as usual...Clinton politics at its finest!

Senator Obama responded GRACEFULLY when he accepted Jesse Jackson's apology. Jesse Jackson, before you put Reverend in front of your name, shouldn't you consider whether your remarks are likewise stated gracefully? If you're having a hard time choosing between politician or preacher, may the suggestion be made that you follow your son's advice and keep your mouth shut ?!

That had to be the most racist comment I have every heard. "Nothing funnier than black folks fighting". I don't find it funny when any body is fighting. Stupid comment from a stupid person!

    • Posted By: paulte @ 07/10/2008 6:02:11 PM

I'm still laughing at the whole thing! Like I said, nothing funnier than that scenario!

Thanks for the comment, but racist people will never ever understand that this man and his wife ARE THE AMERICAN DREAM!!! Nobody gave them anything!! They worked hard and EARNED everybit of what they have. But NO RACIST wants an uppity Ni**er to be anything more then a thug! And remember, this man is closer to the experenices lived by 90% of Americans! As long as we keep fighting and dragging ourselves down, other countries are working hard with what they have to better posistion themselves in the future. RACISTS think only a WHITE PERSON is solid enough to run the country!! They are all DAMN FOOLS, and spits in the face of what this country keeps claiming to want. EQUALITY and JUSTICE for ALL!!!

Senator Obama has gracefully let Mr. Jackson off the hook. Senator Obama is not playing "politics as usual." Thank goodness for that! It is about time we move past the politics of the schoolyard that is so very gaffe driven. This might have gained Senator Obama political "points", but it wouldn't help him govern one iota. We need to move past the gaffes and start focusing on the issues-- we have a real mess to fix and focusing on the gaffes people make will not help us fix that mess.

Can you stop already with Obama the great. Where were you when we needed you in pushing Kerry in 2004 when Bush needed to get out. McCain is not so bad when compared to Bush in 2004. I am a Democrat, but Newsweek and MSNBC are way out of control FOR Obama. Enough. America deserves both sides to make up their minds.

Dum Post! if you are honest, you will see that McBush has been getting a pass for 8 months! The guy lied to the face of a veteran yesterday in a town hall forum that the MEDIA skimmed over and his campaign had the cops give a woman a ticket and REMOVE from a line she was in to see McLiar!! People like you just don't want to see a BLACK MAN running the WORLD!!! BtW, did DICK cheney EVER tell us who in big oil he meant with that shaped this country's energy policy?? NOPE, fought the justice department tooth and nail to hide the info ya kunklehead!!

StrongArm, I think it's time for you to take your meds Brother! I saw the same thing you did and I don't know where you get off that McCain lied. Return to you: Why did Obama campaign remove Muslim's from the front row of a town meeting? I am not claiming Obama is Muslim, but his campaign wants to make sure they keep white folk happy and that is wrong. Keep off the juice Brother!

        • Posted By: StrongArm @ 07/10/2008 5:31:55 PM

Sorry, the vet asked him more then 3 times about his voting record on veteran affairs and not only lied about which veteran groups supported him, he never ever aswered the questions put to him. According to FOX news, those women where moved by campaign vols. Obama had no idea and apologized to the women involved including one who was a lawyer. If you believe they are trying to keep white folks happy by excluding certain people, then good for you. Since this is the best you can do, I will move on to something more stimulating like mowing my lawn.....

Jesse Jacksons son made these comments about his father today: Jackson's remarks also drew a strong rebuke from his own son, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. This is from The Chicago Tribune!!

"I'm deeply outraged and disappointed in Rev. Jackson's reckless statements about Sen. Barack Obama. His divisive and demeaning comments about the presumptive Democratic nominee -- and I believe the next president of the United States -- contradict his inspiring and courageous career," he said in a statement.

"Revered Jackson is my dad and I'll always love him," he continued. "He should know how hard that I've worked for the last year and a half as a national co-chair of Barack Obama's presidential campaign. So, I thoroughly reject and repudiate his ugly rhetoric. He should keep hope alive and any personal attacks and insults to himself."

The congressman's unusually cold statement may represent an attempt to create a distance between himself and his father after years in which he felt it difficult to seek a higher political office due to controversy surrounding Rev. Jackson. Recently, the congressman acknowledged he discarded a potential run for the U.S. Senate seat Obama won in 2004 in part because of his father. This is from the Chicago Tribune!!

Jacksons son is also good friens with Obama!!

Jackson, what a stupid *** yes that is he and yes I am white and will say it again he is a stupid ***. Always has been and always will be. I am not racist in fact I like what I see in Obama but I honestly can say Jackson makes me sick just like Sharpton and Farakon.

no need to revert to schoolyard insults . just because someone agrees with you not does not make them or their ideas "assinine".

why do the obama supportere always degrade down to insults and emotional responses?

  • Posted By: amendment2man @ 07/10/2008 5:17:22 PM

putoff: i cannot begin to list the ways. but I just tried to explain: see post previous to this one.

He would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids. Ah well, there were a number of other things he could have said to get the same effect: http://www.236.com/news/2008/07/10/jesse_jackson_wants_to_slice_o_1_7645.php

obama will never be perceived as centrist he is an obvious middle left if not left candidate. his recent pand......oops excuse me shift towards center is an attempt to win over the majority of americans who do not share his values.

this guy has morphed so far away from what he started as; its amazing he still has the support of his base. Well it does seem that the specifics of things are lost to his supporters as well as his morphing behavior. Are any of your principles important? are there any principles? first there was unconditional pullout from iraq, then unconditional talks with all crazy dictators. this has of course changed as it was never practical and nothing but rhetoric.

I have a feeling that both candidates will becon=me indistinguishable come election time save for the core or so called "wedge issues" this is how voters will decide. obama your veiws on these are in the minority.

draw your own conclusions but base them in reality.

People who try to homogenize the Black American experience hurt themselves doing so. Why? Because Black Americans are individuals like everyone else. White Americans must be dealt with on an individual basis, anyone who generalizes with regard to Asians is wholly wrong, Latin/Hispanic/Whatever generalizations are unwelcome, so what was Jesse Jackson thinking? Obama's not "real" because he's a little too articulate and refined. And we all know what 'REAL' black people are like. Don't we?

    • Posted By: Nins @ 07/10/2008 4:57:12 PM

Good post, Monitor. The fact is that racism is so pervasive that the people doing it are unconscious of it.

  • Posted By: gentleman52 @ 07/10/2008 4:53:23 PM

It's stupid if not irresponsible to think that jackson's comments were planned by Obama. I find it incredible, if not an insult to the average person's intelligence when people find such silly reasons to support racist if not vindictive views to express themselves. I suggest that the bigots who post really get past their fear and begin to look at people as PEOPLE. When will we ever learn. Judging from the hateful and fearful replies that's sure to follow after this post, I'm not sure we ever will. I wisj Mr. Obama well.

What kind of language (I wanna cut his nuts off) is that for a reverend? It proves to me that he doesn't see himself as a spiritual leader any longer. I sense a little, or maybe a lot of, jealousy going on there!

  • Posted By: bullyforhim @ 07/10/2008 4:38:37 PM

I believe this was probably planned by the Obama campaign, in order to show the White Folks that Obama is not catering to Jesse/Al. What better way to get some fence-sitters to tumble toward Obama than have a disagreement with the leader of the black racist culture?

  • Posted By: teddyo @ 07/10/2008 4:37:13 PM

Im on Obamas side. He needs to speak to all of US.

Maybe Jesse would prefer that Obama address black people in ebonics? Or it could be that it's hard to tell people you cannot succeed if the most powerful man in America is half black. Wonder how much his and Al's incime would drop?
