dkcloud357,
When all you do is state a bill and the vote, you really say nothing. What was in each bill?
For instance:
I researched Health Care for Veterans Amendment, HR 2863 S Amdt 1937 (10/05/2005) and on Senate Daily Digest 11101, it was stated that the amendment, though worthy, was subject to point of order under the Congressional Budget Act, Section 302(f). So, McCain voted against it BECAUSE it had to go through the mandatory process for expenditures (It HAD to be initiated by the HOUSE). His vote was based solely on procedures, and NOT on the worthiness of the amendment.
Would you rather that McCain not follow the rules established centuries ago as to which duties each House of Legislation had? Would that NOT be doing the same thing that Bush has been doing - inventing his own rules.
just what do expect out of a organized labor union ? they have thier own agenda's and are always left of center !!!
Know why McCain wants to distance himself from former Senator Phil Gramm? It is not just because of Gramm's recent obnoxious remarks calling Americans "a nation of whiners" and that unemployed Americans are in "a mental recession." In fact, those remarks were so obnoxious that I wonder if they were engineered just to provide McCain an excuse for publicly distancing himself from Gramm. This issue is a lot deeper than it looks on the surface.
When Gramm was a Senator he was chair of the Committee on Banking, and in that capacity he was able to push through the legislation now known as the "Enron Loophole." This loophole allowed US investment banks to bypass the Federal regulations governing futures trading, and is the reason why the investment banks were able to falsely inflate the prices of oil, wheat, corn and other commodities through massive futures trading, causing your costs of gas, heating oil and food to go through the roof.
Gramm was a member of McCain's campaign team, but now Gramms' name is turning to mud. In addition to the Enron loophole, Gramm pushed through the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act in 1999, which got rid of the laws that seperate banking, insurance and brokerage activities in America. Essentially, this Act did away with all of the good laws written after the Great Depression to protect us from another Wall Street/Banking Industry collapse. That's right, Gramm stripped the system of it's safe guards nine years ago, and guess what? The value of the dollar has nose-dived, three major economic institutions have failed, Wall Street is highly unstable, and we are in the midst of a worsening recession.
Now you could say that this is not Gramm's fault, that he didn't know what the outcome of his actions would be. However, it turns out that the same investment banks that benefited from the Enron loophole and from the Gramm Act gave more than a million dollars to Gramm's campaign. Uh oh. A Congressional hearing is going to be convened to investigate this. And McCain wants to have noting to do with Gramm, wants us to forget that Gramm has been a key player on McCain's campaign team. Gramm was McCain's campaign CO-CHAIR and LEADING ECONOMIC ADVISER. Previously, McCain had said that he planned to appoint Gramm as SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY. It looks like McCain is scratching that idea, now that the public is finding out about Gramm. Didn't McCain's team bother to find out about Gramm before publicly considering him as Secretary of the Treasury?
With Gramm in the driver's seat as McCain's leading economic adviser, now you know why economists and analysts are saying that McCain's economic policy plans are untenable.
In my following post that I messed up and posted twice : NV following the Bill number = No Vote , N = No.

Actually you both are wrong , he ( McCain ) was against the Bill to increase Veterans Benefits. So he did not even vote on the Bill , he was fund raising in California on the day of the vote. So it seems that FASTCHECK.org needs to get its FACTS straight too.
I subscribe to Newsweek and receives the magazine all the time. I believe I made a
mistake because this Magazine is a dome and gloom reporting, as well as bias
towards McCain. So far, I have seen 4-5 magazine with OBAMA on the cover.
What happen to your coverage of McCain? I will think twice about renewing
your magazine because you showed me how BIAS you are. This should not
be the case. You should stay neutral.
By nuetral you obviously mean anti-obama
After all is said and done, I as a Registered Democrats will vote for McCain.
I honestly feel he will be an excellent president than Obama.
Me too....well I'm a former Dem in June I re registered Independent. Your making a good choice...don't let the McCain haters sway you...just look at McCain proven record of leadership and working across the aisle not just talking about it.
Curious...what made you switch?
McCain makes decisions based on what is best for America. He does not expect the government to pay for everything! As we all know, the government is funded by the taxpayers. Under Obama, we will be taxed until we no longer have a viable income, if he gets approval for all of the outlandish programs he wants to implement. I know, if we end the war we can all have extra monies out the wazoo. Count me in for the forty acres and a mule.
NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY, I WILL STILL VOTE FOR MC CAIN. THESE
FROM REGISTERED DEMOCRAT WHO VOTED YEARS. I AM CHANGE MY MIND
AND WILL VOTE FOR MC CAIN
This is Senator McCain's voting record for veterans issues as compiled by the Veterans organizations, this is a non-political assessment, it hardly speaks well of his support for veterans:

Just because amendments are offered on a bill, it does not mean that they are even relevant to the bill. This is when many Senators will throw in their earmarks to get pet projects passed. Some amendments increase funding, some decrease funding. Some may be for keeping pay the same while increasing payments to corporations. Just because an amendment is offered on a bill does not mean that it would be beneficial to Vets or the military personnel. Even a final bill may contain so many adverse provisions that no responsible Senator should vote for it.
I researched Health Care for Veterans Amendment, HR 2863 S Amdt 1937 (10/05/2005) and on Senate Daily Digest 11101, it was stated that the amendment, though worthy, was subject to point of order under the Congressional Budget Act, Section 302(f). To lump ALL legislative votes or co-sponsorship on a bill does NO justice to anyone.
I've been waiting to see who the AFL CIO would endorse - It's just one more nail in Obama's coffin for me. AFLCIO regularly sells its members down the river to the highest bidder. Same old politics, same old games, same old politician.....
The following veterans group tracks John McCain's concerning our young veterans of today. His lack of support for their medical care is appalling. He even voted against more time at home between tours. He opposed the new GI bill for vets because he feels it may discourage re-enlistments rather than discourage high tech jobs being given to Halliburton employees that our troops want and desire to increase their skills and future. He didn't even show up for the vote. He runs on a platform of being a vet, yet doesn't support them.

If this was against Obama, the kool-aid drinkers and media would be calling for McCain to control them. What a bunch of wusses.
How much did the leaders of the AFL-CIO receive to sell their union members down the river with all the free trade agreements, including NAFTA and the World Trade Organizaion membership. Why in the world WOULD any labor union continue to support the same politicians that gave away most of our manufacturing jobs? And, they continue to endorse the neoliberals. Too bad it wasn't just their own jobs that were exported, as they are the only ones who deserve to be unemployed - along with the neoliberals and neoconservations who voted (and still vote) for (un-American) free trade.
Thank You for getting the facts put out there...I am sick of all the lies...this is not what Americans want.
