Comment: I'd actually be surprised if everyone liked the iPhone. This is why we have competition and diversity in the mobile market. Granted, there are people who seem to take it just a little too seriously, be it die-hard iPhone lovers or haters.

Comment: if you are an iPhone user, you probably already know the dangerous battery life your phone comes with. In one scenario, the battery went dead on the iPhone and when it was taken to go get fixed, they were charging almost as much as the price for the phone! Luckily these iPhone

Comment: Well, going negative sometimes wins elections.... Has it every occurred to some of these "haters" that even though Apple products are not the most highly spec'd, not built for gaming, not alot of stuff, but what they do well is that they serve some purposes perfectly. They don't do everything - but not everyone needs everything, in fact I am willing to bet most people only want a few things. Apple has hit on a sweet spot of just what you need and nothing you don't. A large part of it is design and marketing. Before the iPhone I hated my cell phone - it sucked. Now it doesn't suck. That's something.

Comment: the problem is that windows does all of the stuff that OSX does, and OSX is about 50x more expensive, bespoke and pointless, the advances that microsoft have made for us and for everyone in the world is more than they are given credit for, there are more windows hating mac users out there than mac hating windows users and that comed from a rubbish 4% market share, people say that windows is the problem, I say its the 3rd party crap thats floating around

  • Posted By: ThePrairiePrankster @ 07/14/2008 5:15:04 PM

Comment: Why would anyone hate a phone? Some people like vanilla ice cream, some people like strawberry and some people do not like ice cream at all. Ice cream is not inherently bad or good.

Why would anyone stand in line for hours to buy one? The phone will be available tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that. In fact, it will be an easier and quicker process to buy an iPhone next week than it was yesterday. No one needed to stand in line to buy a iPhone, all those folks demonstrated that their time is worth nothing.

Comment: don't forget cheaper to wait, the iphone has a hefty price tag...and is just a phone

  • Posted By: eMJayy @ 07/13/2008 4:04:27 PM

Comment: It's just idiotic for grown people to behave this way about a phone of all things. As if they've never seen one before. To camp out in line over night just to get your hands on a phone, when there's already at least one in your pocket...pure stupidity....it wasn't as if it was a limited time offer...they'll be selling them next week, next month, next year....But buyers beware - the best time to enter into a binding 2-3 year phone contract isn't when you're all giddy with iMania.

Comment: AND, shows how devoted mac users are, just like star trek fans but nowhere near as cool, NOWHERE NEAR, I can see the line for the shop now, everyone with an ipod, everyone with a macbook air, everyone talking about apple like its the second coming of jesus, I waited 0:00 for my phone, it was about a month after its release, the price had dropped by £100 or so, I got it on a 12 month contract at a rate I like and can afford. I don't get this, its like attack of the clones, all apple is doing is diluting a practically perfect 96% market share with incompatible anomalous systems, I urge everyone to wait until windows 7 and then make up your mind who you want to go with, windows 7 WILL be the best thing you have seen in many many years, if you don't believe me go and look on your utube for bill gates talking about it, I know technically everyone here is talking generally about the phone but really I thought the OS was important too, I also understand that I have diversified my reply to one person to address everyone but guys THIS IS IMPORTANT, not as important as a 3rd world war or anything but try and imagine a future where all pcs looked the same, there was no distinction, by 'switching' you have Steve jobbs as your master and you WILL be his bitch, when you want to buy anything its a call to apple or if you call a 3rd party you are just calling apple through a middle man/men, basically giving your money to jobbs for overpriced locked down consoles basically that are only as good as ONE company defines, with Windows, Linus and UNIX you do not need a UNIX halfbreed messing everything up and diluting a happy market, no longer would you have all of the hardware comapnies we have now, all you would have is ONE company, ONE price, ONE place to call in an emergency, why else would apple lock their patents and trademarks and everything down so tight it makes development by anyone but them practically impossible and worthless.

I don't want to seam like a bender on this one but having an open 'communist' market is a much better idea, apple wish to own you and turn you into a clone.

on a slightly more diverse note, apple recently released the iTV, strangely enough there has been an itv in the UK for many many MANY years and apple supprisingly enough didn't seam to give a ***, nice very honest and business-ie of you apple.

      sorry, Dis-engage rant sequence!

Comment: As someone who recently simplified his life enough that he never needs to turn his (ancient Motorola) cell phone on except to make the occasional emergency call, and who has forgotton his own cell number, which is no problem because he never gives it out, I watch this iPhone craze with complete and smug bewilderment. People are slaves of branding, no matter what the brand.

Comment: I get paid for 8 hrs a day Mon-Fri, with all the new tech [ya I'm an old guy] i work 12hrs a day 7 days a week due to mobil phones. Guess I have a ligit reason, not excuse, to hate these things on a whole. No I don't dis new tech on line, or pubilcaly, but for today right now. So there you have it, I'm tired of being EXPLOITED because of new tech. Good for info from home, but not rule your life 24/7!

  • Posted By: jchastn @ 07/13/2008 1:22:56 PM

Comment: Style and ease of use are very high in Apple products in general, and the Iphone specifically. The argument that Apple is finally catching up with tech that has been available in other phones is also valid. The thing I like about the Iphone is that it is a great package of tech, easy use, and style. Complete package. I use both Mac and PC and I love them both. Talk about a lonely group....

Comment: I'm addicted to my iPhone - shouldn't the way people use it be a good measure of how effective the technology is? People talk about their phones, and I just stare blankly and clutch mine like a little bar of gold. I'm getting the 3G today - and keeping my old one as a souvenir. I love this phone.

Comment: People need to just lighten-up on the whole Mac/Pc thing. I mean HATE groups??? I am a mac user and it is just another machine to me that I talk about with humor and never any hate. These people create websites and sit around HATING ??? This is so.... weirdly sick. Therapy has worked wonders for many... they need try it I think. Peace and Love tech folks ;-)

Comment: The long awaited scam Iphone aka IPUCK, let me wait in line 6 hours to stop me at the door and inform me (the next in line) that the remaining phones are reserved. WTF!!!! AT&T put out no reservations at all and this is a stipulation of apple. Does the owner of the AT&T store in Victorville, CA care no!!! they not only refused to sell me one of the phones that they had left, but the manager the spineless worm would not even come out to talk to me. That goes to show you that AT&T in Victorville, CA is only out to make a buck no matter how. They are illegally selling phones to the highest bidder and then holding them until they come in to pick them up.

Comment: Yes most the features are in lots of other phones. Just like most of the words in Hemingway are in the National Enquirer. It's an irrelevant comment. And speaking of relevance, it no more matters that not everyone wants an iphone than that not everyone wants a Toyota. To each his own.

Comment: Hilarious, the haters really can't stand the fact that Apple has stepped into a market that everyone said they could not possibly compete in, and now they are setting the standard. LMAO. All the haters can keep telling themselves and anyone else that will listen that they don't see what's going on right in front of them.. They can keep their horse and buggies while the rest of the world acknowledges obvious change taking place a drive off in our cars...Hahahaha

    • Posted By: WeHateMacs @ 07/26/2008 7:59:14 PM

Comment: ACTAULLY, NO! its more that we can't stand the fact that apple are ripping off ideas from other companies and calling them their own, SETTING A STANDARD!!! where the *** have you been, there are many more phones being released that are so much better, HTC touch pro, for example. Apple have been in court about the ipod and in recent years about it being a stolen design from creative (which creative won) and load of other sh1t. Jobbs is an arrogant penis, also a mac breeds self satisfied, self gratifying tossers like you, "oh my phone is faaaar superiour to yours, oh l can touch the front and it hypnotizes me by flying loads of imagery at me, aren't I different with my phone that is identical to all of the other iphones ever made, thats the size of a double decker bus that tells me I am full of free thinking hippie ideas and I am so individual groovy and uniqe"...F**K OFF you D*ck, tell me please, why not just use a phone for phoning and a pc or laptop for real stuff, or a smartphone to a degree, but its a handheld device, I don't need to be a sad looser and go on facebook on my sodding phone, or youtube. Tell you what, if you want to waste money why not become a drug addict or an alcoholic.
get your head out of your *** for a *** minute you prick, also get your facts straight, 'good' argument but fataly flawed by the sad fact that you don't know what you are *** on about, turnip head!

Comment: Do you really need to run out and buy one of these every year?

Why not wait a year or to for G4 or whatever...they piecemeal you on all the things it could already have.
    Suckers.

  • Posted By: Boka @ 07/11/2008 3:01:38 PM

Comment: Just go out and buy one. Sure there will be things that it doesn't have but it's hundred times better than the phone you have in your pocket right now. And there is nothing close to it on the market. In a few years it will replace your computer anyway.

Comment: This would be interesting if it weren't for the fact that Apple rose to its new heights from being an Underdog. A few years back Apple was written off, and Windows went on to rule the world. Now Apple is on a roll and is a newly crowned Technodarling. The Apple hater is not new, he was in the majority five years ago. They are called die-hard Windows users and they are proponents of the status quo. This article doesn't really give any historical perspective to the windows-apple drama, and is a bit of a disappointment because I was hoping for more insight instead of journalistic fluff.

Comment: Yep, I'm a hater. Big time. I might like Apple if not for the fact that they charge outrageous prices for underpowered equipment (PC's and laptops), gouge people for ipods, rip people off BIG TIME through iTunes, and totally boned the 6 million original iPhone users with their crappy 2g functionality and pricing/network schemes. People like to badmouth Microsoft, but as bad as MS is, Apple has brought new meaning to the "Fleecing". I'll never EVER give one red cent to Apple.

Comment: Everyone's complaining about gas prices, but people are lined up to buy the latest toy...and charge it to their credit card probably. Honestly, do you really need this thing?? Are people really so bored that they need high priced toys to entertain themselves? How about saving your money or paying off the debts you already have?

Comment: Those automobiles don't have reins like every horse that came before them. I mean if you're use to steering with with a leather strap, that steering thing just might be a problem.

Yeah that Henry Ford is outta his mind if he thinks he can fool all of us into giving up our horses. That dang automobile is going to really cost ya when you add up the cost of petrol and oil and ya just might run over a horse in the road. Yeah that's another problem. Where are we gonna go in these things?
I don't know about the rest of ya, but I'll be just fine with my horse Thank you!!!

Comment: I think you're missing my point. When cars were first made available, people didn't buy a new model every year because they wanted to have the latest and greatest. Do you buy a new big screen TV every year because they came out with a better model? Sorry, but I'm only 35 and I think people are stupid for getting into debt for gadgets.

Comment: I am an IPhone H8tr with no excuses. If I want a computer, I can use my laptop. I just want my phone to be a phone. Besides, if you look at the demo of everyone lining up today to get the latest "first," they all want to be the boy who wins by dying with the most toys. I feel sorry for those who can't resist the latest IPhone. Just think, in six months they will come out with a bigger, better, more bells and whistles version of what they are selling today for half the price. The IPhone junkies are like women who get pregnant the second time and have fortuitously forgotten what a pain it is, literally, how much it costs, and when hard labor come, want to kill someone. IPhone lovers, don't go postal after me with buyers regret six months from now.

Comment: Know why McCain wants to distance himself from former Senator Phil Gramm? It is not just because of Gramm's recent obnoxious remarks calling Americans "a nation of whiners" and that unemployed Americans are in "a mental recession." In fact, those remarks were so obnoxious that I wonder if they were engineered just to provide McCain an excuse for publicly distancing himself from Gramm. This issue is a lot deeper than it looks on the surface.

When Gramm was a Senator he was chair of the Committee on Banking, and in that capacity he was able to push through the legislation now known as the "Enron Loophole." This loophole allowed US investment banks to bypass the Federal regulations governing futures trading, and is the reason why the investment banks were able to falsely inflate the prices of oil, wheat, corn and other commodities through massive futures trading, causing your costs of gas, heating oil and food to go through the roof.

Gramm was a member of McCain's campaign team, but now Gramms' name is turning to mud. In addition to the Enron loophole, Gramm pushed through the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act in 1999, which got rid of the laws that seperate banking, insurance and brokerage activities in America. Essentially, this Act did away with all of the good laws written after the Great Depression to protect us from another Wall Street/Banking Industry collapse. That's right, Gramm stripped the system of it's safe guards nine years ago, and guess what? The value of the dollar has nose-dived, Wall Street is highly unstable, and we are in the midst of a recession.

Now you could say that this is not Gramm's fault, that he didn't know what the outcome of his actions would be. However, it turns out that the same investment banks that benefited from the Enron loophole and from the Gramm Act gave more than a million dollars to Gramm's campaign. Uh oh. A Congressional hearing is going to be convened to investigate this. And McCain wants to have noting to do with Gramm, wants us to forget that Gramm has been a key player on McCain's campaign team. Gramm was McCain's campaign CO-CHAIR and LEADING ECONOMIC ADVISER.

With Gramm in the driver's seat as his leading economic adviser, now you know why economists and analysts are saying that McCain's economic policy plans are untenable.

Just do it in discussion or forum where you are not off topic, as I'm quite sure most or all here, would not care to further discuss the hypocrisies of many if not most politicians -- Barack included. In fact, some of us find respite in a discussion regarding the iPhone or other assorted electronics, which hopefully, is a discussion away from all the bull of politics.
