chindognyc, Iowa was a caucus, which disadvantages working people and mothers with school age children. Fewer than 3000 people were able to attend. Obama supporters manipulated the process. The outcome did not reflect popular opinion as expressed in general polls for the state.

The DNC nomination process was rigged so that Obama would win. Clinton would have overcome the bias in the caucuses if the DNC hadn't said FL and MI wouldn't count at all. She won both states, and that would have made her the frontrunner.

Ultimately the DNC can name whoever they want to be the candidate. In fact, the superdelegates can still change their minds at the convention if they want to. If they do change their minds and nominate Hillary Clinton, I would vote for her, but I don't expect that to happen.

MI and FL agreed to abide by the rules, then they broke those rules. They were also aware of the consequences of breaking those rules. It was an informed decision. At first Hillary's campaign was fine with letting the FL and MI votes go, but then Obama came from out of nowhere and all of a sudden MI and FL were ever so important to her campaign and the DNC was evil for upholding and enforcing the rules they had already put in place and everyone had agreed upon. Suddenly the system is biased and sexist and wrong. I really wish that MI and FL had just waited and followed the rules so that those voters could've been heard as they were meant to be. What the outcome would've been, we'll never know, and it doesn't matter. Whoever would've won is irrelevant to the fact that those people got screwed, not by the DNC, but by their party leaders in those states. I had hoped that the FL and MI voters would hang their party chairs by the nearest rafters or at the very least that they would need police escorts from all the angry voters screaming for their blood. Instead, when the Clinton campaign pointed fingers at the DNC, so did the voters. Their anger needs to be directed towards the chairs that made the informed decision to violate party rules and accept the consequences. Like so many of us who speed on the way to work every day, they thought they could talk their way out of having to actually pay the ticket and just get off with a warning. They were wrong.

mddkid06, five states violated the rules. The DNC granted waivers to only those states that they expected to go for Obama, states where he had spent a ton of money from his Hope PAC. The DNC didn't follow its own rules for FL and MI even if they didn't want to grant waivers, because that would have meant that half the delegates counted, but they didn't want HRC to have those votes. It wasn't until HRC supporters forced the committee to abide by its own rules that they changed their minds and agreed to seat some delegates, and even then the DNC didn't follow its rule and gave Obama delegates from MI even though no one voted for him there because he chose to take his name off the ballot.

Sorry, but FL democrats didn't have any choice, the republicans controlled the legislature which set the date. There certainly was no reason to treat them any differently from the other states that violated the rules, especially since the primaries the DNC wanted to go first had also changed their dates and were going to get to first anyway.

FL should have been given a waiver too. The DNC screwed them, not the state party.

What are you trying to say about people who voted in the Caucus. Are you saying that they are not hard working Americans?

  • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 07/14/2008 2:51:31 PM

JuanitaG, Obama is reaping what he sowed, winning the democratic nomination by inviting republicans to become "democrats for a day" to defeat Hillary Clinton, the better candidate, the one the republicans knew they had no chance of beating.

And as for experience, Obama has had none in a leadership position, McCain has. He led men in the military. Obama speaks with lofty words, but has not action to show what he really stands for. McCain has stood his ground in opposition not only to the Bush administration on a number of occasions, but also to the status quo in Congress, bringing more transparency to Congressional appropriations than ever before.
Obama has worked the system, put his name on bills without doing any of the footwork (just as he did in the Illinois senate) and generally claimed credit where no credit was due. He's a flim flam man selling snake oil as "hope and change" without any proof he can get one thing done. He promises everyone everything, says what he thinks he must say to win -- Jeremiah Wright had that much right at least.

Zombie, you are always trying to get people to go to some dumb site. Rush Limbaugh made Republicans vote Democrat. Only Republicans who is sick and tired of there leaders voted for Obama.

I'm glad you called the Huffington Post dumb...one of the biggest news propaganda machines for Obama.

Yes I offer the site, because that is PROOF...you know the scientific method? You have to base your hypothesis on evidence before you can come to a conclusion.

Maybe you should try and have some proof to your talking points, someone might actually take you seriously then.

  • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 07/14/2008 4:11:34 PM

chindognyc, Obama's campaign was the one that started the cross-over registration campaign because he knew he wouldn't win the primary without some anti-Clinton republicans. Do the research and you will find the fliers his campaign was distributing in Florida and Nevada long before Limbaugh's operation chaos.

You like to post without checking your facts. Apparently you like to choose your candidate without checking the facts too.

It''s called pandering to special interests....He liked to talk about Corn EtOH a lot in Iowa. He liked to talk about his Farm Bill a lot when he was in Iowa....that Farm Bill is a gold mine to Corn Growers....and what do they grow in Iowa?

        • Posted By: chindognyc @ 07/14/2008 5:28:03 PM

Zombie, do you even know what your talking about? He did not win just because of that. He won because the people in Iowa are tired of the same old politics. The one that is coming out of your mouth.

          • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/14/2008 5:51:27 PM

Yes because talking about issues is so Old Politics....New Politics is all about Hope and Change and nothing else....

chindognyc, it's not that I want a woman or a white or a black or even a man or a hermaphrodite or hispanic. I want the best qualified candidate, and this year that was Hillary Clinton. The DNC decided they wanted a black man, nominated on the anniversary of MLK's "Dream" speech. I don't think that was a coincidence. I think the DNC has been working to get Obama nominated ever since his speech at the last convention. The set up the rules to disadvantage HRC, and did everything in their power to make sure that Obama got a lead and never lost it, even though more people voted for HRC and it was clear that she would be the stronger candidate against McCain. Dean and his crew are so devoted to the 50 state strategy, that they are willing to lose the election this year to promote it. They are so money hungry that they would do just about anything to get Obama's donor list.

Please note, he has not backed up his claim that the majority of his contributions have come from "small donors" - he hasn't disclosed the names, so we don't know if those alleged donors are even Americans or living or old enough to have a checking account or credit card so they can make a contribution. We do know that he has used superbundlers to solicit funds, and anyone who has had any contact with a superbundler knows how they work. These are the bosses who expect you to ante up or move on to another job.

Oboma is a phony and will do and say anything to be elected. As time goes on it will be apparent how badlyl prepared he is to hold the office, no matter how many gray hairs are added to his head by his handlers. It is apparent that his wife is not an asset with her big mouth and his move to the center is revealing his true nature, in truth he is really and "Obamanation " and a danger to serve as president of this country.

    • Posted By: middkid06 @ 07/14/2008 4:38:04 PM

Wasn't it a Republican that publicly came out and said flip-flopping was getting a bad rap and that people should feel free to admit when they change their minds about a policy rather than sticking with a bad one just because they feel they have to. Think about it. How many of our grandparents supported segregation? Ask them now how they feel about different races eating, being educated, and basically living together in one society. It wasn't that freakin long ago. Saying and doing anything to get elected is not the same as legitimately changing your mind about an issue.

      • Posted By: republicrat1984 @ 07/14/2008 5:17:54 PM

It's not a question of abandoning a bad policy/idea, it's a question of abandoning a policy/idea that is not currently popular. McCain supported the war when it was popular and when it was not. by contrast, Obama and Clinton only supported the war when it was popular. THAT is flip-flopping: not when you leave a bad idea, but when you leave an unpopular one.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 07/14/2008 3:42:52 PM

I hear you. Thats why you are going to vote for McCain because you said Obama is a phony. Wait, didn't Phil Graham say that Americans is a country of whiners? Didn't the McCain camp say that the deal with Budweiser was a good thing. Hmmmmmm. Sounds like you really live in wonderland.

In 1866, Congress overrode President Andrew Johnson's veto on April 9 and passed the Civil Rights Act, conferring citizenship upon black Americans and guaranteeing equal rights with whites. On June 13, Congress approved the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing due process and equal protection under the law to all citizens. This Amendment defined "citizens" and "voters" as "male."

The amendment would also grant citizenship to blacks. The Reconstruction Acts were passed by Congress on March 2, 1867. These acts called for the enfranchisement of former slaves in the South. Hiram R. Revels (Republican) of Mississippi was elected and took his seat February 25 1870. He was the first black United States senator, though he served only one year. Blanche Kelso Bruce (Republican) of Mississippi took his seat in the United States Senate on March 3 1875. He would become the first African-American to serve a full six-year term. Black men voted in the presidential election of 1876, the outcome in the Electoral College appeared too close to be conclusive in the campaign of Samuel Tilden (Democrat) versus Rutherford B. Hayes (Republican).

Susan B. Anthony was arrested and brought to trial in Rochester, New York, for attempting to vote for Ulysses S. Grant in the presidential election of 1872. At the same time, Sojourner Truth appears at a polling booth in Battle Creek, Michigan, demanding a ballot; she is turned away.

Women did not get the right to vote until 1919.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 07/14/2008 4:47:06 PM

What did I say. White females voted first because even though black men were allowed to vote, there votes did not count. That is why they fought way up into the 60's to have a voice in there Government. Once again, white females had the right to vote first.

I do enjoy the bloggers (regulars especially) but I was blogging on Huff Puff for a short while earlier in the year and a few other sites and somehow I ended up defending Hillary on this site where she didnt have as many (tuff?) supporters to respond back on her behalf with facts, but then you did when you were here back then as I remember you said that you were on this site for awhile and then shifted away but then did come back. Obama will ruin this country....change to what?...more affirmative action "crud"....blacks need to move on....get with it....get a life....stop whinning about slavery.....McCain is worth multiple Obama's with his stuttering and stammering....Obama needs to totally forget what to say instead of flubbintg up his speeches.

Obama is just now undergoing strict scrutiny and is not holding up very well under it. He has a much less robust economic policy than McCain, has much less experience, is on the wrong side of the firearm issue and supported the D.C. gun ban,. He also has virtually NO credentials on military and defense and was willing to take nuclear weapons off the table. No president in history has done that, and NOT now!

  • Posted By: ProWomen @ 07/14/2008 3:20:40 PM

I am sick of Obama supporters who claim "Obama represents the new America. The America that is racially diverse and that wants to be a good citizen of the world. McCain represents the old America. The America run by wealthy, white males on the backs of poor people of color." What a crock, I suppose if ya click your heals and say their is no one like Obama ya will believe it over time. WAKE UP! Behind every great man their is an even greater woman! But the DNC wouldnt get behind HER! Black men got to vote 50 years before women, black AND white WOMEN. A truely diverse ticket would have a woiman on it, and who cares what color!

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 07/14/2008 3:35:31 PM

Prowoman, black men did not vote before women. Get your facts straight. Also, if you were for women rights, then you would not be bosting McCain because he already said that he is going to stop most women programs because it cost the Gov't too much money. I will take my chances with Obama. At least, America has a fighting chance.

Iraq buddy. We are spending billions in Iraq a week. Most of that money can go right back into America. Also these big corporation who go to other countries and then sell there producst back to us. We are getting poorer and they are getting richer. McCain is for big businesses. He said so himself.

          • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/14/2008 4:39:37 PM

I asked what WOMEN's programs....you say Iraq...hmmmm why you have to change the subject? You lying again?

Do you buy only American made products? What kind of cell phone do you have? TV? Car? I bet you have a lot of foreign made products in your apt/house. Do you shop at Wal Mart? Or Target? Guess what they all sell stuff made in Asia...so why are you supporting that suppressive regime?

Mark Sanford really helped out the Democratic party. He proved that Mcsame is Bush. Gov. Sanford who is a Republican and a McCain supporter said if you like Bush policy, then vote for McCain. Hahahahahahaha. Right.

The millenials are a bunch of whiners. Not all of them, but a lot.

Too many don't think they should work the way salaried employees work, and think they shouldn't even have to put in the 40 hours that wage earners get to earn their pay. Too many spend their work hours posting on blogs like this one, and texting and surfing the internet when they are being paid to do something else. They expect a college education to be given to them without having to work for the grades to get a scholarship or working to pay for their tuition and books and room and board.

Too many complain about paying social security and medicare, and don't believe they have any responsibility to take care of their grandparents and parents as they grow old and can't pay their medical bills and utility bills and even pay for their food and housing. Too many expect their parents and grandparents to dip into their retirement savings and mortgage their homes to pay off the education loans, and they apparently have no problems with them dying broke and destitute, we deserve a free education and shouldn't have to work for it.

Does this describe you? Is that why you voted for Bush, who was going to privatize Social Security so you wouldn't have to pay into it?

    Look what it got you.

It sure takes a lot of news stories to attempt to convince the public Obaba has found his faith and it is Christianinty.... and that is suspiciouse on its face!
But only to the extent that there's some oligopoly selected to try to sell this bull! As appearently this is the case!
What Obama will not do , upon swearing into the White House, is chastise those who wage discrimination campaigns against Christians because his party attracts such extreamists. In fact he'll admit he carries some Ameriguilt from his "christian background' , lower his head in apology as he nods "yes" to the heated dialog coming from left wing athiests .
This is all scripted! According to liberals other religeans and athiests are wize and all-knowing ( so not infected with Ameriguilt!), so we must all listen to them! Christians must submit. So Obama first must BE a Christian if he is going to model for all of us how to be submisive to a discrimination campaign (which happens to eminate from within the DNC--his own party).
Obama is a product and to be his partys' Demo Clown (no pun intended) showing Americans how to accept stupidiy from the DNC!
There was one fellow from Arkansas doing that very thing befor! And now we get the new and improved Demo Clown!

If a few weeks can make such a big difference, imagine what a few months could do. There's no need to even refer to these polls right now. Polls don't choose presidents, the people do. Get out and vote, whoever you want to vote for.

  • Posted By: simplipeople @ 07/14/2008 10:04:09 AM

A nation of whiners?Put McCain in office,if you really want to hear whining. It will be four more years of the Bush Administration. If you like the downward spiral that America is on then you should vote for McCain.I hope America is smart enough not to put McCain in office. It is time for the Democrats to put America back on the right track. We will see in November if any of these polls are correct.

    • Posted By: partridge @ 07/14/2008 3:23:01 PM

The Democrats chose to run Obama and when he loses to McCain they can blame themselves. They had a perfectly winable candidate in HIllary and blew it. Cry me a river Democrats!

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/14/2008 4:00:34 PM

The Obamacrats will be the biggest whiner ever when Obama loses in November.

Obama went to the madrassas in Jakarta and was a practicing muslim. His father was a muslim. His stepfather was a muslim. In Islam, no matter what your mother is, if your father is a muslim, so are you. Obama understands and knows what is in the koran. Did he leave Islam, and if so, why the silence? If he left Islam, that would qualify him as an apostate, but I haven???t seen calls for his death-which we most certainly would have seen in his very public candidacy for the presidency. Is Obama practicing kitman or takeyya?

Perhaps an indication of what he means when he talks about being the ???candidate for change???.

His cousin Odinga is partnering with Islamic jihadists who are behind the violence in Kenya over his loss at the polls. Odinga is connected with Al Qaeda, for crying out loud. We should be asking question after question of Obama and his campaign, because the next president - like it or not-will be a war president. And we should not have someone in the highest office in our land who would not only be the first muslim president, but who would aggressively enable our jihadist enemies; as their ally.

Who???s to say Obama wouldn???t aggressively work to install sharia and fulfill CAIR???s dream for the US, just like his cousin is attempting to do in Kenya? All indications are???that???s exactly the ???change??? that he???s looking for.

I understand you concern about Obama's family being tied to Islam.
But I do not agree that if you father is a Muslim you must be a Muslim.
My father was a Mason, I am not.
My cousin is a Baptist Minister and has said and done things that I do not agree with.
Am I to be held responsible for his comments, because I am related to him.
We do not get to choose our family or the things our family believe in.
It is not fair that you have chosen to fault Obama for the beliefs of his family.
By the way all Muslims are not terrorist.
I thought this was America, land of the free, home of the brave. Let us not forget the 1st Amendment.
We all have the right to worship how we choose. People have fought and died for us to have that right.
But mabey thats not true if you treat American Muslims, like they have done something wrong.

      Are you a Christian?

      • Posted By: ricardo4max @ 07/14/2008 7:34:28 AM

What you ignorant dolts don't seem to understand is that whether you agree or disagree isn't important. Islam makes the rules for Muslims and what the Quran says is that if the father is Muslim so is the son. IF Barack was exposed to Muslim education, which he was, and his family is Muslim, which they are, then other muslims will expect him to act like a Muslim. His close ties with Farrakhan through his radical Black Liberation theology church and pastor cause even more suspicion. This muslim association that Barack has is not the worst thing about him. His afro-centric Marxist beliefs and his apparent possession of NO qualities that support his candidacy for President ( He can't speak without the teleprompter. He makes numerous misstatement and changes his position with the wind.) We certainly don't need an inexperienced socialist puppet controlled by the kook fringe left and George Soros running the country.

You have the right to participate in any religion. So if your parents were Catholic, do you have the right not to be Catholic, and have the right to convert? This is not about Obama, this is about your fear of Muslims. So now, I turn over things to the philosopher of the six.
If you have that much anxiety about Muslims, here is what I suggest. Take a walk around the block four times and either borrow, or own a poochie. Because you are so angry, trade places with the poochie, you lie in the poochie's dog house, and let the poochie lie in your house overnight. Appreciate the fact that you are alive and breathing. Relax whomever you are, you will end up hurting yourself feeling the way you do.
If the above does not help, then time to call for help.

          • Posted By: partridge @ 07/14/2008 3:41:46 PM

Your nutty philosopher friend is makes no sense at all. I think we need better voting requirements if this one can vote. As for your Jewish friends, they may be Jews by birth but not by actions. All Jews that care for their religion, their G-D given homeland, and the Jewish heritage of Israel would never vote for Obama with his ties to anti-Israel causes. Real Jews would never put Israel on the chopping block.

why do you think that everyone is afraid of Muslims? We are afraid of Muslims that kill people in the name of Islam. we are afraid of Muslims that deny the Holocaust. We are not afraid of peaceful people. The problem is that the middle easterners are not peaceful. perhaps you do not believe that peace in the middle east will precede Armageddon, but I believe that there is a pretty good chance of it. From reading your posts, it seems that you focus on Islamophobia? could it be that you are serious? or could it be that *gasp* you have nothing else to say. If you cannot say anything else, please stop posting.

You are going to be bigot number five on our top ten list. Keep posting like this sister, and three of us who are muslim one christian scientist and two jews will give you a lesson which we don't want to share unless you keep posting about muslim lies.

It's too bad that some Homeland security agents are knocking on your door right now. You America haters are now so bold as to physically threaten people for posting the truth. The media is nearly as bad.
Take at look at what Muslims have done around the world. They are not tolerant. They have no wish for peaceful co-existence. They want to eradicate any and every other faith around the globe. Their religion states that that everyone must be Islamic and follow Islamic law. It is easy to see by your reactions how much the truth hurts you all. And that you support O'bama is even more revealing. I can tell you this. O'bama will not be President and Sharia Law will not be part of America unless you can kill or somehow silence millions of Americans, and I know that you all and the Democrats are trying your best to do so.

        • Posted By: muslimsforpresidents @ 07/14/2008 9:59:25 AM

Homeland security can come knocking on my door and my five other friends doors. How do you know who or what we are and what we do for a living? You are talking to six of us, three muslims, one christian scientist and two jews; Three of us were born here, the fourth is became a US citizen, and the other two have dual citizenship. I guess christians are above everyone else. Your rant and raves tells us that you have Islamaphobia, which is understandable because you do not understand Islam at all.

You have the right to say anything you want. There are 1.2 BILLION mulims that live in peace and harmony. Yes there are extremists in every religion. Nobody likes to here that either.

We have good reason to be afraid of a religion that STILL practices intolerance and STILL looks for global dominance. Both Christianity and Judaism have gone through periods of reform. for the most part, Islam today is the same Islam from the 1300's. Women are still objects, people are still beheaded, and the middle east still commits genocide depending on which SECT of Islam you follow. I don't know about you, but it's been a while since i've seen any Christian church or Jewish synagog assail any other. we are not afraid of Islam, we are afraid of the people that practice it. Islam cannot hurt us, Islam is not a physical thing, no one has ever been shot by Islam. the people that follow Islam, however, could harm us no matter what they believe in, be it Alah, God, Yaweh, or the flying spagetti monster. People that hate and fear that which is not them are called xenophobes. it is neither your fault nor mine that the middle east is filled with xenophobes that happen to be Muslim.

Ladybird, I'd rather she not accept the VP nomination, she would have more power and longevity in the senate than she would as VP, and if he loses, she'd lose ground, it would hurt her more than it would hurt him.

I'm going to vote McCain this fall. He won't serve but one term, and he would be constrained by a democratic majority in Congress.

The republicans are already trying to blame the democratic congress for the economic problems we are experiencing - we can't afford another landslide victory that would give them the white house and Congress four years from now if Obama is elected and fails to turn it around in his first term (which he won't - he has never held an executive position before, and obviously doesn't know how to balance a budget without some kind of windfall like selling a book or getting a sweet deal on a house, or getting Michelle on a board of directors in return for casting a vote or getting paid for nonexistent "legal" work in return for greasing the wheels for some special interest like Killerspin.

You really need to get a life. Vote for McCain means....... please don't *** when things get worst.

"The republicans are already trying to blame the democratic congress for the economic problems we are experiencing..."

The Republicans need not bother, since the American public has already beat them to the punch. The recent Rasmussen poll yielded an approval rating of just 9% for Congress and 52% disapproval. According to Rasmussen, it is the first time that Congress' approval rating has fallen into the single digits. That is less than half of the approval rating of 23% for Bush that emerged from the recent LA Times/Bloomberg poll

  • Posted By: srikanthtal @ 07/14/2008 3:23:41 PM

So we are all going to believe these polls and make our decision?
It's your life people... it doesn't matter whether Obama is a Muslim or John McCain is Old.
Put all the presidential candidates plans in front of you and try to figure out how their plans can save you money, and get your Kids through college and stuff that really matters to you now and 15 years from now. And then make a decision. Don't let these POLLS FOOL YOU. They are just trying to make a buck.

Obama represents the new America. The America that is racially diverse and that wants to be a good citizen of the world. McCain represents the old America. The America run by wealthy, white males on the backs of poor people of color. The America that the world sees as a bully that wants others to do as they say not as they do. The America that has forgotten about the future of our children and leaving them a world that is as good for them as we can possibly make it. Obama is the candidate of the future. He represents the best that we can be. Words do matter. How the world sees us and hears us does matter.

    • Posted By: IELeibowitz @ 07/14/2008 3:04:47 PM

Please, BigCuzAP -- words do indeed matter, but they need to be backed up with substance to do so. Simply repeating campaign sound bites about Obama representing the new America and McCain representing the old America offers nothing in the way of substance. It sounds about as profound as using advertising slogans to convince people to drink Pepsi ("The choice of a generation") instead of Coca-cola, and it trucks all too easily in age discrimination to boot.

  • Posted By: CarynVZ @ 07/14/2008 2:44:50 PM

The onlu surprise in this poll is that it took so long for most people to wake up and realize both parties nominated the wrong candidate, and the lack of confidence in either McCain or Obama is becoming evident.

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 07/14/2008 2:58:45 PM

I agree that the Dems picked the wrong candidate by far. Hills would be blowing McCain out the water right now, with a unified Democratic Party to boot. She wouldn't be wasting money getting coronated at Invesco either.
The GOP actually picked the only candidate that had a chance this election. Romney or Huckabee would not be getting the same support from Clinton Dems, that McCain is getting right now. Clinton Dems know the kind of tricks the DNC uses, so they can see through some of these attacks being made by Obama and the Dems. Even with Obama as the nominee, I don't think most Clinton Dems could or would openly support a Romney or Huckabee.
