I wish I could say I was offended by the desecration of an American Icon, but this was hilarious.

Comment: Great production and I loved the parody of Obama - as seen a la "Disney hero" romping through the forests and streams shouting for "Change!" - very silly and fun.

Will McCain still be breathing in 2012? Is he truly functioning now or is that his wife in the photo op again, propping him up as he rants and scolds and upholds the moral compass for those of us who want Obama to win?

Comment: I am African American this video shows as much poor taste as the News Week it is just that some whites don't know the plight of being Black in America and think that this is funny by the way this musical soundtrack was taken from the Late "Josephine Baker" who made her last performance singing "Times Are A Changing" meaning she left this country because she could not stand the treatment of what we were called then "Colored People" being taunted for being a different color is not funny as the medida seems to have accepted. Why is it that anyone should think that Obrack should lighten up about these offensive jokes I think he is doing an outstanding job by suceeding to make little out of huge damage to what some think is funny by the way this whole video says to me that they are saying White People wake up if you don't let McCain steam roll over Obama this is what you will get in the White House. JiB-JAB shame on you this music and song is a page out terror Blacks have went through and 85% are still going through are sucessful African American's out there are simple needles in a haystack!

Comment: What the hell are you talking about. It is a parody! How could you see anything racial in this video. You cannot be serious. By the way the sone is by Dylan "The times they are a changing? i believe that you are referencing the Josephine Baker story staring Lynne Whitfield that was done in either the 90's or 2000's. I believe that Dylan recorded this in the 60's.

I as a black woman am totally clueless as to how this video could offend anyone.

Comment: Yeah, Josephine Baker was APPLAUDED by Paris fans while White bigots in the US (moral frumps) scolded and scorned Black entertainers, no matter how incredibly gifted and talented... Any Blacks, I should say.

It's amazing that we have come so far in just 50 years... but anyhow, I wouldn't take offense at any of this stuff as it's just silly and these are public figures after all - fair game for media and Internet, bloggers, etc.

Please research before you post such things. Bob Dylan wrote and recorded this first, not I repeat NOT Josephine Baker! I do agree that the song was about the civil rights movement. I saw a documentary on Dylan in which he explained this fact.

Comment: I cannot believe that anyone in their right mind is seriously considering voting for McCain in light of the past 8 years of the Bush presidency. I mean, do you REALLY want this country to simply implode? People are so damned afraid and ignorant, which is evident by reading many of the pro McCain comments here. It is interesting, but the tone of many of the pro McCain comments are not based on how great McCain is though to be, but rather an illogical, unbridled fear about what an Obama preidency would be. Sorry folks, but McCain is old, has had cancer, forgets or misunderstands the differece between Shia and Sunni suggesting that he does not understand basic elements of the Iraq war, will INCREASE our skyrocketing deficit (which will cause the dollar to plummet further), etc.

Have you actually been following the McCain campaign in the news? Are you serious? The guy is incompetent and an extraordinarily weak candidate. I mean, is how he runs his floundering and sputtering campaign an example of how he will run the country? I'm scared! But people are not paying attention to that, they are instead fretting about Barack Obama being a Muslim (a stupid, stupid lie and a word the first commenter cannot even spell correctly). Seriously, if you think that Obama is Muslim or was even raised Muslim despite all of the widely available evidence to the contrary, you are quite simply, stupid. I mean, you should REALLY check your sources. Stop being "low-info voters", since that is what caused this country to vote the worst president in history into a second term!!!!!! If you like the way things are going, then vote for McCain...period. He has not shown any indication that he is capable or even desired to turn things around.

Oprah was smart and left there when she attained a good understanding of what they are about, but Barrack Hussein Obama only distances himself when their stance (read: African Liberation Theology) becomes widely known and controversial? Cmon.... This guy's best and possibly only skill is adeptly telling people what they want to hear. And uneducated buffoons such as yourself are buying his line of crap.... En masse. Now that's scary....

          • Posted By: summer4077 @ 07/17/2008 9:57:42 AM

Comment: It doesn't disturb you that McCain abandoned both wives at their time of need? That shows a lot about personal character and integrity. Also, it doesn't disturb you that Republicans don't want any of the current administration to be held accountable? Instead, they want to grant pardons BEFORE hearing the facts, and just sealed a bunch of Cheney's FBI and CIA records, barring them from being released? Absolute power without checks and balances is quite frightening to me...unless you want us to be the next N. Korea, China, or Russia.

            • Posted By: NO OOOOOOOOO @ 07/17/2008 10:49:58 AM

Comment: Of course that disturbs me...I am not a Republican nor do I agree with the past 8 years of the administration. I was not talking about McCain...I was talking about Obama...but then again, if it's anything negative about Obama...just throw McCain into the fray and ignore Obama's history of very poor judgment in associations that certainly reflect a lack of personal character and integrity every bit as much (or more) as McCain's.

Comment: I'm not ignoring it, I'm just pointing out that both candidate has major drawbacks that must be considered. Obama has less, in my opinion. Doesn't make him perfect, by any means, just a better choice. We've been headed downhill for 8 years. McCain is a certain continuation in this direction. Obama is not. I'm willing to take the risk that he's not, instead of going for the certainty that is McCain.

Comment: Do you think that the true defenders of our way of life care about color or religion when they are confronted by the common enemy? When America or Americans are threaten all Americans, Muslim, Christians Catholics and Jews will take up arms and fight. You use Obama's family tree to disgrace him! Well how many of your ancestors took part in the Crusades, Inquisitions, and Lynching etc? Are you so naive to believe that a person ancestry defines whom he/she is? To hate another Race, Religion does not make you an American! It makes you a coward and a bigot, which needs someone to blame for your inadequate life!

Comment: Joe1022Joe! The phrase is Muslim. And most of our ancestors are accidental Americans that came over from some European nation! You sound like an typical racist that uses someone religion or beliefs for an excuse to hate! As far as Preachers goes! Jimmy Carter had Graham, Bush Senior had Swaggert and they both admitted to sleeping with prostitutes.Your hate will consume you. While the rest of us "True Americans" welocme change and diversity, you will rot trying to feed 1000 escuses to hate someone that is not like you!

Comment: True Americans welcome change and diversity, true, but liberal apologists such as yourself force it down everyone's throught. I'm not sorry for being a white English-speaking male, and I'm tired of this white guilt BS espoused by morons such as yourself. I don't hate anyone based on their race, sex, religeon, or gender; and that inlcudes my own!

Comment: Actually TRUE Americans want their land back and ALL of us immigrants (voluntary and forced) to leave their lands.

Comment: And of course anyone who thinks we should not just "welcome change and diversity" from afar, while making sure none is actually brought about, is a "liberal apologist" trying to "force it down everyone's [what was that word? Threwuoufghhht?]." No one's asking us to be sorry for being white males; just to understand that the White Male Way has historically not served humanity well.

Comment: It is true that now Obama claims to be a Christian. But it is also true that one-half of his family, which is all of his natural father''''s family, is Moslem and lives in Africa today. Literally half of Obama???s family is African and Moslem. These are not relatives from a 300 year old slave ancestor. These are his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. His step-father is a Moslem and lives in Indonesia. While a child, Obama lived in Indonesia and attended a Wahabe Moslem school. His religion was stated as Moslem. These are not connections that can be cast aside with an, "Oh, that was then, this is now" attitude. When you place this in combination with his wife''''s comments about being proud of America for the first time when her husband (Obama) was running for president, his very close 20 year relationship with a black Christian preacher who clearly hates the USA and his association with an unrepentant Weatherman who publically stated the day before 9/11 he was sorry he hadn???t set off more bombs, you have a picture of a man about whom the American people have a right to be concerned.

Obama is an accidental American. He was born on our soil, but he does not share most of the ideas and experiences we take for granted in Americans. Race is part of the subject, but only as an indicator and illuminator of the concealed ideas and attitudes of Obama.

Comment: Ok...sigh...here we go again. You guys really need to get some new Obama-bashing material. First of all, yes half of his family lives in Africa. He is close to only 2 members, his sisters. How many people have family that they rarely see or speak too? I have a cousin who is a thief and assaulted his ex-wife--he's in prison. Does that mean that my successful career and moral existence is worth less? You can't judge someone by their distant family. Plus...so they live in Africa, so what? Are Africans demons? Are all Muslims evil? You have no idea what crimes against humanity have been committed in the name of Christianity.
You can't hold an 8 year old accountable for the school their parents send them to. Also, your citation of Michelle's comments are inane. If you consider the whole context of her comments, you'd see that she doesn't hate this country. I, for one, haven't been proud of this country for almost 8 years. I'm extremely patriotic, but hate what we have been reduced to by this administration. I agree with her comments.

Comment: Yes half of Obama's family lives in Africa, but the other half are American and white. Obama did not a attendend a "Wahabe MUSLIM" scholl in Indonesia. He attended a public and a Catholic school.

Comment: Here we are again. I thought that being born again was the entire point to Christianity. For all non believers to experience Gods Love and believe on him. Are you sure that you are a Christian. Rather he is, was or thought about. I don't care. Will he keep " We the People" his focus? I believe he will.

Comment: If anyone from the McCain campaign is reading this you need to have McCain watch this and if he is asked about it he needs to say how funny he thinks it is (because it is.)
But the point is to signal to America that he can take a joke since Obama has no sense of humor and all and that America with him would not only be safer, but they would be able to laugh again and laugh at him and he won't care.

I think this humor thing seems a non-issue but trust me it's a big issue. Americans love a good laugh and the thought of walking on eggshells when it comes to their leader is too much even for the most liberal person to handle. Obama is coming across as a think skin, humorless elitists and that is a great thing. Don't make a central theme of the campaign but every chance McCain gets to remind voters that he has a sense of humor and Obama doesn't he should take it.

Comment: As a McCain supporter and ex-Hillary supporter I have to say that I find this video Hilarious. I loved it. It was very very funny. They made fun of McCain and not much fun of Obama. Since everyone is afraid of making fun of Obama than I was not surprised. I have to say that they hit that talk of change from Obama on the head. He loves talking about change but he won't tell us what that change is. He could be selling us to the devil for all we know. He won't tell so we are left guessing what change mean. I say it means BS and BS with a large tax bill and more unemployment attached to it.

Comment: Comment: I am completely offended by the content of this musical video and how it portrays the American election process. These little computer geeks should be caught and hung-up by their buster browns. Shame on you for thinking that this even remotely resembles humor. This music video is the most tasteless thing that I have viewed ever in my life. No wonder we are a joke to the rest of the world, because we allow this kind of humor to be aimed at the most sacred instituion of our country - free elections. I am going to contact my Congressman today to call for legislation to ban and condemn Jib-Jab for this outrageous, un-patriotic and vial act. At a time when our country needs to be brought together, things such as this only widens the divide of our citizens. NO MORE JIB-JAB! NO MORE JIB-JAB! NO MORE JIB-JAB!

Comment: If you support McCain because Hillary didn't make it, then you were either voting for her simply because she's a woman, or you don't want a black man in office. Obama and Clinton have virtually the same stance on domestic and foreign issues across the board.

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 07/17/2008 6:49:56 PM

Comment: Thank you, even Sen. Clinton stated that anyone who supported her will have very little in common with the republicans. This is not about issues, these women are spiteful and angry and this is their way of "Getting Back" and blackmailing the DNC. Either take the nomination away from Obama and give it to Clinton or we are taking our toys and going home! Go to their website www.pumapac.org and read some of their comments. Most of them are completely looney. Not all of them there are certain members who have posted that although they totally support Clinton that there is no way that they would ever vote for McCain. I guess they will be kicked out of the pack soon LOL! By the way the PUMA's use animal names to refer to themselves and their website (The Den).

It would be easier winning with them, but in my opinion let them go as it is not worth the headache of dealing with these crazy azz women.
