She is an idiot for getting pregnant in the first place. Aside from being too young to be responsible and knowlegeable enough to bring a new life, her actions put the entire cast and crew of her show in trouble. I suppose it could be said that she couldn't do worse than big sis or her own mother, but either way, it was a totally bonehead situation to put herself in. OK! put the whole situation in print so that the voracious masses could read about and either say "yay her!" or "she's an idiot". At least she's got money and celebrity, so she should be alright and the magazine is in the clear for "just putting the story out there".

I have one question.. and have asked this question several time.. Can someone please anwser it.. Why is the boyfriend not in jail.. She was underage.. When heard about this, all I could think about was what was this telling my 14 year old girl.. Got my answer.. Now she wants a baby, and that is all she talks about

I am not sure if this is the case in California, but in New York only the teen mother's parents or legal guardian can press charges for stat. rape. So unfortunately, if the parents do not see anything wrong with it then there is nothing done about it. The teenager herself can press charges but this is rarely done due to the backlash from the guy/friends/family.

I think it's giving teens the message that it's ok to become pregnant. Teens have a hard enough time in this day and age. She's just another hillbilly having a baby. Only difference is she has a nanny and the money to take care of it. Most teens can't even afford a pack of gum these days! I have to question their mother. I dont think she has been the best role model.

Continuing God's views on teen pregnancy: "It was not my idea for societies to promote individual freedoms nor was it my idea to promote the idea that a nuclear family (mom, dad and child) should be self supporting. Nor was it my idea for 'The State' to support struggling young families. My idea was for beautiful, happy young people to fall in love and have a baby and be blissed-out about it all the while.".

Please send some of the drugs you are smoking. You must still be laying on the field in an orgy at woodstock

      • Posted By: almadeus @ 07/17/2008 10:45:44 AM

God says: " This blog is about teen pregnancy not your issues with drugs. But, since you brought it up, Your comment indicates that you are not aware of the fact that God does not use consciousness altering drugs."

So you are implying that You are God. cybrsufr asked for the drugs that You are smoking, not the drugs God was smoking. Sorry to say, but you just let the cat out of the bag - you're not God, you're a nutcase!

I agree w/ Gunslingerswife.. Who are any of you to pass judgement & ridicule.. Take a look at your own lives & families.. Or are ALL your families secrets of life hidden & ecnored? Or do you ALL believe your families are PERFECT?? Cause if that is the case, I feel sorry for the secrets that are hidden in your own pasts.

It does not glamorize teenage pregnancy. It just expresses how great it does feelwhen you have a baby no matter what age you are. The magazine did emphasize how great she did feel but not the downsides of teenage pregnancy also. I don't thnk her sister influenced it though.

Why judge this situation when only 40 yrs ago girls were married & becoming mothers by the age of 16. Who are we too judge? We are not.. Alot of people are passing judgements on this when first of all it is not up to them to pass any type of judgement. I had my son when I was barely 15 yrs old. I faced riducle & Judgment every day.. Did my sons father.. NO!! Why pass any judgement & only judgment on the women/girl in question. No one will have an answer to this. Why should we question if Jaimie-Lynn is allowing Teen Pregnancy to be okay? Any mother has the right to be proud of the child teenager or not.. Plus she's almost 18 & has the love & Strength of her family.. maybe we ahould all worry about our OWN families than the families of others!!

What a bunch of hypocrites many of you are. While I'm not a fan of the Spears family, I don't understand why you are so vindictive against them. They only typify what is going on in mainstream American today. Don't crucify them -- look around at what is happening on your own block. In addition, I'm not a big fan of most media outlets, either, but give me a break ... this is America ...supply and demand...if no one read it, it wouldn't be in print to begin with.

It does glamourize teenage pregnancy. There is a reason why we filter material to kids- even teenagers. They don't have the same decision-making skills that adults do. Which is why teens being parents is a problem, regardless of their economic situation. Teens who saw that article didn't think "oh...well she's rich and theres a difference between this teen TV start and my Dunkin Donuts salary." They think, well she's fine and if its so fulfilling then why shouldn't I? You shouldn't b/c of the health risks and lack of psychological maturity- which why most get pregnant in the first place. OK was always a tacky magazine and this just sealed their reputation for trash.

I am so proud of Jamie Lynn for having her baby and not given up. Not to long ago I was a teen mom, know I am almost 21 and a Mother of two. Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world but don't rush it you have pleane of time to grow up it comes sooner then you think. A child deserves two parents, and you wont that other person to be good for you and your children. Schools need teach SEX ED! Teens are having sex weather there parents know or approve. Schools only teach abstanence, so teenagers are not prepared, us condoms and birth controle and always know the consiquinses. You need to konw IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!

Ya think? The fact that these troubled teens (the Spears sisters) are so glamorized and celebrated by the media is a sign that this society has been totally corrputed and undermined by the media and has lost its moral compass. They need to stop making "news" out of things that aren't news-worthy and are, in fact, just a shame!

  • Posted By: orange34 @ 07/18/2008 12:33:30 PM

I think that in order to show off your baby to get millions of dollars, the person should be at least 18 years old.

Why do we punish girls when they get pregnant? I'm not saying that we should see it as a norm but why do we put so much pressure on woman to be the perfect species starting from the first day they are born to the day they die including telling people when they should and shouldn't have kids. I think there is a right 'time' based on each individuals situation and in her case of course, she's rich so she'll make it through this very well. In most cases of course, the teenage girls are not rich but that doesn't mean they she be tormented and treated like *** because they had a baby earlier than the norm...

When I was a student nurse I worked with teens that were pregnant and YES some got that way on purpose, for love and the need to have something special in their lives. Most of these girls conversely were poor, inner city, without a support system, or role model. Some of the girls were physically abused some sexually, and that???s how they got their bundle of joy. Do you think this is glamorous??? Some of the girls had younger female siblings 12 or so who couldn???t wait until they got pregnant their selves??????YIKES! Now a teen magazine is glamorizing teen pregnancy and motherhood. There is nothing informational or socially positive about this 17 year old adolescences lack of judgment. I can???t even give a minuscule amount of credence for the need to place the Spears girl on a magazine cover declaring how wonderful a mother she is. This is totally inappropriate, self serving exploitation of her past stardom, and new stupidity. The magazine is making money and that is the reason she is on the cover, bar none. The editor and chief is rationalizing his action to place Spears on the cover ???all the way to the bank with a happy smile on his face??? like he really cares who this could effect. Does he really think his average reader is savvy enough to get past the publicity stunt of this entire article? I now work in a school district, how do I as a school nurse undo this message? Safe sex, abstinence, self esteem, what does this mean to children, when they see how marvelously happy and glamorous it is to be a teen mother. Thanks ???OK??? magazine, maybe Mr. Shuter would like to teach my sex education class this fall? PS I am glad Miss Spears doesn???t have to worry about paying her electricity bill. Nevertheless most teen mothers can???t pay their basic needs bill (food, water, shelter), live on welfare, are homeless???.spin me that one Mr. Shuter.

I think it's alright to show off your baby but I think you should have to a least be 18 (the legal age for sex) to do it. Young girls are going to think that teen motherhood is glamorous from this type of promotion. People wonder why teen pregnancy is increasing exponentially!

The biggest influence on children is their parents and by the way, glibster, your mom should have had an abortion when she was pregnant with you.

Are you kidding me....Teens need to start having more children to help this country increase the "white" birth rate? Who exactly is paying for all of these chilren. People who work and pay taxes! Their are only a few teens, like Jamie Lynn, who can afford their children. I work on a maternity unit in the U.S. and ALL the teens coming in to have their children are on state assistance and the majority of those are "unemployed". That is why we are going to become a third world country. How can people expect to have things "paid" for them and not have this country affected by that. It is the babies that we need to think about. These babies are being born to people who are barely mature enough to drive or take care of themselves....little own...another human being. It has nothing to do with whether you are white or not. There are plenty of patients who come in who are not white who take better care for their children then the "white" family in the room next door who is on welfare! It's about being responsible in you decisions. Will Jamie Lynn have enough money to pay for her child...Yes...more than enough. But does that mean that she can emotionally give 100% to that child, not necessarily. Her sister has proven that already. It is the babies caught in the middle of this drama and someone has to be thinking of their best interest....not using them to increase the "white birth rate" in America.
