I believe that too often the media sends a message that children born outside of marriage are little tragedies. This has led to abortion being accepted as birth control, children hiding pregnancies and later abandoning their babies or even killing them, girls running away, girls being killed by angry boyfriends, or girls who kill themselves. Can a child???s birth really be just cause for such inhumane occurrences? Are their two types of humans, the ones with married parents and those without? She chose to give life and t was going to be reported. I think it was in good taste to talk about it openly, state what she is planning, how she is happy and ready for the challenges of motherhood, although it wasn't planned. It is almost like people want to hear her say "I don't want this child because I am embarrassed of it" or see some awful story about her harming it due of depression later. Even as adults we make mistakes and have to choose which way to deal with the circumstances that might be a result. It happened and I believe that she is accepting her responsibility and handling it well.

I agree....Donovan is ignorant. This has NOTHING to do with race......this has to do with a generation of kids who are having kids and the drain they place on society when they can't take care of them.....Jamie Lynn has money and is not worried about meals, bills, work, education, etc. But to the average middle/highschool young lady, this looks like "no big deal." They mistake cute babies for cute puppies. They don't realize that once those babies are here, you can't send them back....and they are totally reliant upon the "adults" for care.

I think it is silly. I feel that we need to teach more wait and have Sex until your married then its okay and personally I think that Her show should be totally takin off of Nick. We already have problems with girls getting pregnant and it makes me sick that they would keep it on it is giving the message Go Ahead and have a baby without being married and being thirteen-seventeen years old. Come on these are babies haveing babies it is silly. I know we all make mistakes but come on get real. Once again take off Zoe 101 on Nick please. If she is going to act like her sister then I feel we should boycot everything her and her sister are on such as buying no cd's and no watching anything they are on. Also the parents make it look so glamorous that it is ok to have a baby. Wake up Dad and Mom Spears and smell the Fresh Air. I cant believe you are supporting any of your daughters and what they do. It is just stupid

Thank you Jamie, hopefully more WHITE moms start having as many children as blacks and hispanics, so we have at least some fairness and balance. True that it's all on the young mom's shoulders, and it's hard, but that's what keeps the country alive so thank you for your courage!!!

Oh and John Donovan, I am white, my boyfriend is black and he is more man than you will EVER be or know. You are an ignorant racist. Go back to Alabama or whatever southern Hick State you come from. Moron.

I think the OK! is painting the wrong picture of teen pregnancy. It is not something to aspire to. It is irresponsible teens being ignorant and thinking "it can't happen to them". Grow up and put on a condom or if you are having sex, go on BC. You are too young to have a child if you are still seeing a pediatrician yourself. I'm 19 and have every right as a teen to look down on those being childish and irresponsible therefore giving the rest of us bad names. Thanks Jaime for being a screw up in front of the entire world like your big sister :).

i just dont know why she wasnt on birth control...im pretty sure she cldv gotten it with out her parents knowing and her parents shouldve talked to her more about sex since they were allowing her to be in a serious relationship since she was at least 14!!!!!!

Sorry, typo's meant to put "making LIFE better and it SHOULDN'T be the norm.

The only thing OK! got out of this is increased circulation and a fat paycheck. Babies having babies is nothing to take lightly. The real tragedy is that we have people who think like smousseau does and that money forgives all misdeeds. People like that need to have their heads pulled from out of the back sides and brought to attenion with a 2 x 4.

It's time to awake before we (whites) are completely displaced off the map. No one can control what others do, we can control ourselves only, so it's time we started having more children. Don't believe statistics ("whites will soon become a marginal minority") - they can only be right "assuming" things continue as now, with low white birth rate. Way to go, Jamie, it's only because of Midwestern families like your own that this country is not a third-world country yet. Thank you!!! If everyone were like myself and others on the East Coast the would be no more whites, like me or hate me, it's a statistical fact (look at birth rates).

No I don't feel that Jamie Lynn's comment is sending a negative or bad influence (how ever you put it) to teenage girls because its up to them to realize "yes, it's the best feeling in the world...but at the RIGHT time". Also they must realize Lynn is VERY stable financilally, and she's not a common teenage girl she's the sister of Pop Idol Britney Spears and stars on a hot Nickelodeon show, and I REALLY don't think OK! magazine would pay $1 million for a picture of ANY new teenage mother, her new baby and the dad. BUT if they fail to realize this and think of consequences and the future FIRST, then thats when they will want to have a baby also. And so the question being asked now is," HOW NAIVE ARE TEENAGE GIRLS"???

Oh yea I forgot teenagers always take the time to think things through and never, never react emotionally or admire and imitate everything their chosen idol of the moment does. Also teens, of course, are especially noted for being always mindful of consequences! Were you ever a teenager? Sure there are a few mature enough to make rational decisions without being swayed by their culture and media but it's not the norm. ThGlorifying

im african american, im 21, with no kids, not pregnant and dont want kids for about another 10yrs, I have one more year until i graduate college with my bachelors and i will probably pursue my masters within a few years. so john you are merely ignorant.

  • Posted By: acidburn70 @ 07/18/2008 11:57:24 AM

I don't agree with this at all, but I can't point any fingers. I too had my oldest at 17 and I tell you, it was no picnic! While all my girlfriends were going on to college, parties, and just enjoying their youth, I was worried on how I was going to care for a new baby. Don't get me wrong, I love my children, but I was so young. I didn't get to go to college, had to start working right after I had her, and haven't stopped since. Life is hard enough to get thru, being young, add a baby into the mix, and it's just really stressful. I had to worry on how I was going to pay the bills, buy diapers, food for the baby, let alone clothes! In one sense JL is lucky her family has tons of $$ cuz she won't ever have to worry about that. But she is very young, and famous, and has many many young little girls who want to be just like her. One of those is my little 7yr old. I had to explain that what she did is wrong. How exactly do you explain it to such a small child? What about all the other little girls that think it's okay. We will have alot of little girls on our hands that need to understand that it's not okay to have sex so young. Not all of us are millionaires. Like another poster wrote, "not saying that it's fantastic or anything but that's just the way it is happening". It shouldn't be happening, our children should be learning from our mistakes, and making like better, not worse. It should be the "norm" and everyone think it's okay. I talked to my kids about my mistakes, and thanks God, they are working on a better future, and think they should be ready mentally and financially to take on the responsibility of a family.

By the way, blacks and hispanics are very good at teaching whites to "be responsible" (social workers and people in general) - like to give us such advice, just not when it comes to their own.

i think that the magazine went to far. it does glamorize teen preganancy. she didnt even have the baby a month...what does she know??...and unlike most teenagers she doesnt have to work for years if she doesnt want and her parents dont ha ve to work so they can help her and she can pay for a nanny...she wont have to struggle financially...if she gets tired she can let her parents watch it...if they dont want to she can always let a nanny take care of it for how ever long she wants, whenever she wants. ..seeing her and her family's track record i dont think that she should be the spokesperson for teenage preganancy because her situation is not realistic....or at least the one that she portrays to the media.

  • Posted By: john_donovan @ 07/18/2008 11:49:51 AM

In many black and hispanic communities this is a norm. If no one were doing it, I would say "bad propaganda, parents need first to be able to take care of themselves..." But as things stand, it's time whites also started getting a lot of kids, so that at least there is balance to whom welfare money (my taxpayer money) goes and we also have some new-born Republican voters too, what goes on now is unfair, and we only have ourselves to blame: too much pessimism, too much weight on responsibility and individual professional/social enjoyment at the expense of number of children in white families (which too often leads to no children at all). So, I say WAY TO GO!!!
