ok OK! lets see the facts: shes 17 (not even old enough to drive, shes not married yet, and shes following brittney who is insane in her personal life. But what ever celebreties are just doing anything they can to be the breaking news and being on the cover of a magazine. But we should set there personal lifes aside and see what they do for a living.

who said that it was right to have a baby at the age of 17? Jeez! Shes not even old enough to drive! I think the spears are just another linsey lohan.... They are all crazy! I think you should get to know a bit of life before you take that huge step in having a baby. Plus shes not even married yet. If she was like 25 or so and she had a baby and she wasnt married yet that would be a whole nother story.

Parent need to remember that she isn't your average teenager. I'm not agreeing that having a baby young is right but she has the money to take care of that baby better than the normal teenager does. Parents need to sit with their children and explain the situation to their and stop letting them think its ok. At the end of the day its the parent's job to parent and talk to their teenager about sex and what are the hidden dangers. Stop blaming the celebrities and do your job!

Hell yes it glamorizes teen pregnancy!!! Yhis the message we're sending to our teens. It's no crime to be pregnant under 18, On the same note, Jamie lynn is looked up to by the teens who have a propencity to emulate celebrities. Look at her sister Brittany and her antics, The whole family is messed up and these are the people who teens think are "the bomb". Let's not forget the media and their sensationalizing her pregnancy. There's a mixed message here. The morals and manners we teach our kid's from day one are thrown out the window by Hollywooders and celebrities. We pay them mucho money to entertain us and listen to the way they and the media ruin our moral fiber and self respect we try to instill in our youths. These types of things are a scurge on our society and have been for years.

I think that it takes two to tango and as long as Jamie Spears can continue to tango then this will be a wonderful experience for her and her newborn. Life does not always give us chocolate sometimes it throws downs angels and thats what a baby is. I say to her always be the very best you can be as a mother . Their are no rules set in stone. Take your time, no one can do this the way it needs to be done but Jamie Spears.

This whole family is screwed up, they rival the Lohans as far as social acceptability. There was a day we would simply call these types trailer trash and it seems that that name tag for these hollywood types is ready for revival.

I am do not have the experience to know where Jamie Spears is coming from. I had my first child at 24. However, I still was not ready. I don't think it is the age that has really bothered people. I feel that most people worry that this may be too much for a teenager to handle. Yet , she has a lot of support set in play and that is what raises a child . Good luck to her and her new born.

This comment is in reply to all the people who don't understand her kind of situation. I was a junior in high school and got pregnant by my boyfriend. I was sixteen years old and had my daughter at seventeen years old and yes it was hard to go through but I did it. Why should her situation be any different than all the other teenage girls that are pregnant? My daughter is two years old now , I am only 19 years old and I wouldn't go back and change anything. She has made me a better person as will jamie lynn's daughter. Stop making a big deal because everyone has sex and some get pregnant early. She did the right thing and I applaud her for keeping the baby. No baby should be forgotten about even when the mother is young.

thank you finally a teen mom besides myself who is trying to get the point out to people

      • Posted By: LAEvans3 @ 07/18/2008 8:45:26 AM

Agreed, I too was a teen mother. And I didn't get pregnant because it was advertised by some celebrity. I was curious about sex and my parents did not talk to me about it.

I have been with the father for 27 years and have successful children. One a marine, one a NASCAR technician and a thriving young (16 year old) daughter. Who knows of this situation and does not want to be pregnant (and she has read the article). She is studying to be a psychologist. Just because you are young doesn't not mean you are immature to raise a child. I have seen 30 year olds that are not mature enough to raise the children they have.

I too applaud Jamie Lynn Spears.

I commend Jamie Lynn for not murdering her baby by abortion. Certain responsibilities come with being sexually active. Jamie Lynn owned up to them. What concerns me more is glamourizing homosexuality, alternative lifestyles, gay marriage, abortion, divorce and lowering the moralistic bar.

I love America! even though they went to war some 7 years ago in the name of "Freedom", anything and everything you or anyone does, it has to be judged. This is a society that expects perfection, but are far from it. From removing children from their partents because their disciplin its not acceptable, to the media coverage over ones personal affairs like in this case, America has been sheltering their children from the real world causing more mishaps and a confused youth. Teen pregnancy at the age of 17 is more normal in the history of humanity than mothers giving birth from probe pregnancies at age 50 or making marrriage at a drive thru or a divorce via internet.

Some of these commits are outrages on here. Just because she has a baby makes it wrong for her to express how SHE feels because she is a teenager??? She???s NOT talking about how ALL teenage females should feel. I for one like the article she was only telling how she felt about her pregnancy and being a mother not telling every teenage girl she should ???GO OUT AND HAVE A BABY???. If that???s how most of you feel then I think you need to talk to your own kids about having children as a teenager. I believe its only people???s bad consciences and their own denial that their teenagers are never going to have sex. Be it you avoid it or not they are going to make their OWN choice when they ready to have sex be it when they are in there teens, 20s, or 30s. These reactions are due to the fact that most of the parents out here try to avoid talking about sex and try to avoid anything that may have to do with teens having sex be it how to be safe or the consequences. And I can say this due to the fact that I am a teenage mother. I had my son when I was 15yrs old and I don???t see my son as a mistake. I should have made better choices yes, but it was my choice I never look at my idol and go ???wow she had a baby and I need one to??? that???s just stupid to think that and if your child thinks that then you obviously haven???t been talking to them about the goods and the bad about having sex early. Luckily my now husband and I took responsibility and is raising our son to the best our ability and no we didn???t get married for our son we waited until we were married to marry just like sex and got married when I was 19. I am now 21yrs old with my high school diploma and in school for my associate degree
It???s crazy how people over talk how horrible it is that makes me upset and it does nothing but make young mothers feel horrible, lowers their self esteem, and stops them from achieving anything in their lives when they have children and in some cases make them hate their own children. Am not saying it is or isn???t ok to be a teenage mother I am saying that it isn???t okay if you don???t have any idea how you are going to make you and your child have a suitable life not matter how old you are be it now or in the future.

      Bravo!!!!

I also was a teen mother - my child is not 24 years old. I have been with the father for 27 years. I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration and Math. Just because you are a teenager parent doesn't mean you promote it. GIving birth and being a parent is one of the most joyous occasions in a persons life.

Would everyone feel better if she said, this is horrible. I hate my child and I hate being a mother? She is a mother and needs to be the best one she can be!

This is all a part of the mental programing agenda that those in control have been exercising and strengthening for decades. This clearly sends a message to all the duped down teenage girls that having a baby OUT of wed-lock (and perhaps even a one night stand), is perfectly acceptable and moral. The fact of the matter is this type of behavior is what is causing a swell in the welfare dependent masses as well as continually increasing the tax burden on the mature, hard-working and responsible American's. The average Teenage girl does not have millions in the bank. The average teen age girl who conducts herself like Jamie Lynn will end up with a child who has a dysfunctional family from the start, she and her child will either be dependent on the grandparents for a living or the state...and everyone loses. These magazines are nothing but propoganda and behavioral modifaction tools, they glamourize nefarious and irresponsible behavior because they are ran by a secret and covert ring of power-lusting-satanist who want nothing good for you or my life. they seek only to drain every ounce of energy from the masses, and to do this you must DUMB down everyone, make them godless and glamorize the behavior that is actually conterprodyuctive in society in general.

I'm not suprised that set immaturity and irresponsibility on a pedastal, because it is what they do best. The will make every other excuse for why they give her press and air time, publicity and kuddo's, but the deeper meaning is exactly what I've explained to you. IF you make everyone god-less, immoral while breaking the traditional family unit apart, what you have is a bunch of two legged animals running around in a concrete jungle.....then you can take away their rights, then you can impose more and more laws and controls ...and claim it's for their own good. Orwell would have had a field day with all of this.

The purpose of a business, to make money. Unfortunately, what sells in America is gossip. Gossip helps people deal with their own life, realizing just how good or bad they may have it. The supermarkets situate these magazines for the young adults at the start of every aisle and the candy just inside the aisle for the little kids. We are all guilty, we get up there and glance at the magazines or grab a candy. Thats why they are there.

I believe that Nickelodeon has NOT promoted this pregnancy and has not incorporated it into the show. Therefore, your children would not be exposed to this pregnancy without other resources. Your child would never have known and would continue to watch the show. Our supermarkets and stores should treat these magazines as an influence on our children and pack them away, elsewhere. This may cut down on the younger audience.

However, the teenagers will get this information from the Internet and will locate the nearest magazine stand too find the latest gossip. It is our responsibility, as parents, to teach them different. Teenagers are going to be curious about sex - especially when we treat it as something that is bad and should never do.

How many times, honestly, are you guilty for sitting around the table with your young child within ear shot of your gossip or argument. Think about the influence you may have directly on your child. Even the most perfect homes are guilty of it. I have been to several places, including schools and have heard parents and teachers gossip within ear shot. This is detrimental to a child, hearing about adult problems and situations, especially if it is about an in-law (who would happen to be their grandparent).

Our job is to educate our children and teach them that TV is fiction and these stars lives should be separate from that. How they perform "off" screen is really none of our business. However, because we are buying into this market - it is selling.

Jamie Lynn will never know the real trials and tribulations of being a teenage mother and our youth need to understand that. Educate your children. Dont expect society to do it.

When it was a black boy and a white girl down south, it was statutory rape and they sent him to jail. When it was two young, rich, famous white kids having a baby then it is a sweet event. This white father will not allow his daughters to watch any of Jamie Lynn's shows on TV. We have to start somewhere.

Although I am sure Jamie Lynn is enthralled with her baby daughter, the message after much ado in a Ma
high school is clear. Teen pregnancy is as big issue in 2008 as it was in 1948.
    Tone it down!

Is anything on the cover of OK! NOT glamorized by being on its cover? The very name of the magazine sends a message about what's on it cover! How can there be any question about whether or not teen pregnancy is being glamorized?!? Who is the magazine being directed to? Teenagers!

No agenda for OK! Magazine. The agenda was to make money. You make money and Jamie makes money. How about OK! donating $1M a year for programs that educate teens about pregnancy and also that help teens who are pregnant. In fact, why not donate all the profit from the issue to these causes. I mean you really were trying to shed light on this issue...right?
