Baby 101

omfg... they are not saying whether or not she is a fit mother... they are sharing her story as a teen who has made a decision to become sexually active and is dealing with the consequences... whether or not she has money is completely irrelevant to the story... it's a story about how she chose to accept the consequences of her decisions and own up to it rather than doing something else stupid.

I'm a 36 yr old mom to five wonderful , smart, healthy and gorgeous sons. My oldest son is turning 20 in less than a month. I assume we can all do the math here. My son says he is proud of me and all I have done for him over the years....I wish my oldest son had the mother I am today to his 18 month old baby brother. Teen pregnancy and teen motherhood is not easy or glamourous in any way , shape or form. Young Ms. Spears breaks the mold in one major area. She has a wealth that most young, scared, unknowledgeable teen mothers do not have. The parent I am today would love the oppourtunity to go back in time and tell that young, scared, little girl to go home and be blunt and brutally honest with her parents. My sons have been brutally honest with me and as such I have raised young gentlemen that value a young lady for her thoughts, her goals and her desire to succeed. My sons saw me struggle even though I was married and had support and they know they want better for themselves and for the woman in their future. I do not regret my choice to have my son. I do regret my choice to have sex way before I was mature enough to handle all of the responsibility that comes with that monumental decision. I love my sons and I'm glad they have learned a valuable lesson even though it was at my expense ( and I am not speaking in terms of financial expense).

So I started reading this article and came to the conclusion that because she has money she is all of a sudden a "mother who can raise a child." I completely disagree , there is plenty of aults who can't raise their children. We should not support teenage pregnancy or slip it under the carpet and say its okay for this one but not for that one. If you are completely stupid you can figure it out. Our media around us pushes drugs and sex as well as lack there of of prootection. Where are teens to go? But to say it is perfectly acceoptable isjust as bd. What has this world come to?

Are we pretty much saying that because she has money she is a fit mother??!?!? No way! I would actually say the dead opposite publicity goes both ways ... its good for a little while but too much of it turns a person .. well. Its like drinking., its only good in small amounts for a short period of time. Maybe if we didn't encourage (unsafe and uncontrolled) sex drugs and misconduct this world would be a better place.

I am outraged at Ok, for making teens think this is "ok", it's not at all realistic of what most of the teens are facing once they decide, "being a mom is the best feeling in the world"! Sure, she has the money to afford a child and doesn't have to stay home with the child when it is sick or when she just wants to go out and be a teen, which she is. Maybe OK magazine hasn't read about the sad teenage epidemic that's going around!

I think it's horrible that a "teen" idol or suppose to be one, got pregnant in the first place, but to publicize it as glamorous and great is wrong... They are given teenagers the false impression of what parenting is going to be. It's not easy, it's costs money to have a baby and raise a child, it takes time and effort, etc... It's not something that is perfect and is a great thrill ride that you can exchange over to the "adults" when you can't handle it anymore. Yes, Jamie Lynn has money but that doesn't mean to push it out to others her age that they will have an easy ride when the baby comes! What is wrong with our society today?!!?!

Well now that I realize it. What is wrong with Jamie Lynn Spears being a teen parent? Name one problem. Yeah. You can't, becuase she is nothing like her sister. From what it looks like, she is a responsible mother and she has a load of money to support the growth and childhood of her new kid. I think all of you are jelous

OK...first I must say any baby is a great gift...however, this takes it to a whole new level showing how perfect life is for them (don't get me wrong here) but she is an actress & has lots of money to buy things for that baby. MOST teen girls have to struggle to make ends meet or get on welfare because the father of their baby leaves them - THIS IS THE TRUTH OF MOST TEEN MOMS & even though the article was about their new life I think a touch onto real life teen motherhood would have balanced the truth somewhat.. NOT ALL TEENS are having sex but the ones that are should be able to talk to someone & be protected. AND to the wendi girl I do understand because I had my first child at 16 but I was blessed to have great parents that helped me get on my feet

i agree with wendi if you think your 12 14 15 yr old isnt haivng sex thing agian most teens do something sexually at or before the age of 13 and even if oyu are close do you really think they would tell you i mean think about it who did you tell about your first time your mom and dad or your best friends

Wendi - absolutely on the money - you had no money and you wouldn't glamorize the teenpregnancy - you had to grew up quite fast. Putting Jamie Lynn on the OK cover is absolutely wrong - it does send a wrong message. She can say how beautiful being a mom is (because it is) since she can have her kid left with an au-pair or her family and go parties. Most of teen don't have that privilige!

again i know brad and angelina are adults but they still have alot of young teens my 12 and 15yr old cousins look up to them so them having sex and kids befor marrige and being in the spot light is ok right so if my 12 or 15 yr old cousin came home and said they were prego can i blame brad and angi for letting people print there pictures and post it all over the place

You people who don't understand should just shut up about it. It ridiculous on how much you want to comment about it but know nothing about this subject. I had very little money but i worked , went to school , had a babysitter for my daughter and made it. She is not in the wrong. For all you parents who think your 15 year old daughter or son isn't having sex , you need to think again. This is the 21st century and young kids are having sex now.

SO IT IS OK FOR A TEENAGER TO GET HAVE A BABY WHEN SHE HAS THE MONEY AND IF SHE DOESN'T THEN WHY SHOULD SHE HAVE A KID. THAT IS JUST LIKE SAYING A FAMOUS PERSON CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER BECUASE THEY HAVE THE MONEY TO GET OFF.BUT US HARD WORKING PEOPLE HAVE TO PAY OUR DUES TO SOCIETY.SAY IT IS GLAMORIZES TEEN PREGNANCIES.I JUST HOPE THAT YOUNG GIRLS DON'T THINK IT IS COOL BECAUSE SHE HAD A BABY AND I HOPE SHE DOESN'T END UP LIKE HER SISTER, SHE IS HEADING DOWN THAT ROAD.

Brad and Angelina are adults and much more educated that Jamie Lynn. This is not about pre-marital sex, it's about getting pregnanat at 16 and becoming a teen mom and most of all - glamoerizing it as the 'cool' thing.We are talking about another life being - 16 is nit the right age to make decisions. I am Definitely offended by OK to put this on the cover. Don't buy that crap and now even more.

It is disgusting. When a young lady can not get a job due to lack og qualifications, and refuses to get an higher education, there's loans and grants people, the easiest quickest life changing action is to open there legs and have a baby, on other people's, taxpayers, money. Sure Brittany will assist her sister but there are 100,000 of young ladies laying down to get pregnant for "unconditional love", which is a fallous. The media thrives off of people's mistakes and madness.
