i don't get it is all right for a teenager to have a kid if she has money but if you don't have money itsn't ok.I believe she is glamous the teenage pregnancy.who knows she might go a blow all that money on stuff she doesn't need.plus teenager shouldn't be having kids they are just kids theresleves, know matter who they are.

Yes, it absolutely glamorizes teen pregnancies. Jamie is lucky beacuse she has money to support her kid, but other teens are not as lucky and have to either depend on themselves or their family for support. It definitely sends a wrong message to teens - motherhood is responsibility and you cannot be responsible for another human at age 16 - especially in our world! Shame on Jamie for even agreeing to photo shot and especially shame on OK for putting it on the cover!

She' is just a child with a baby. I'll give her a few weeks, then her immaturity will begin to show, and raising a baby at 17 will not be glamorous. I find the media supporting her position disgusting, but typical from the mainstream media. They are 'anti' traiditional values. Paul Edwards, Chatham Il

Why in the hell dont you people grow up and get a *** life.YEAH teenagers have babys and yeah its hard on them they dont have a life after that but whats the big deal. back in the day when our great grandmas moms were kids or even before taht it was ok to get married and have kids at 16 there are BIGGER issuse out there then teenage pregnacy why doesnt anyone cover all the murders going on in indipolis indiana all the lill "teens" runnings around killing people shooting two babies in the head grow up leave the whole spears family alone if they were famous then you wouldnt even bee talking about them and hears a story for ya brad pitt andf his nasty lil thing having pre marital sex what type of message is taht sending out to young people its just telling them that its ok i mean think about it is your life really that horrible and boring that you have to attack a 17yr old hell at least she can pay for her kids and not live paycheck to paycheck with nothing to show for it your all just jelouse if you ask me

    • Posted By: aidah101 @ 07/17/2008 8:48:42 AM

It is not being jealous it is sending a bad message, were going to have a huge amount of teenage pregnancies, with the majority of the fathers out of the picture, and these young girls raising kids on their own. That is what the article represents, the opposite a RICH GIRL with options, not a POOR GIRL with no options, I work with border babies, these teens have these babies and leave them IN THE HOSPITAL, think about that before you make such insensitive comments, and NO were not talking about in the 1950 and 1960, times have changed and not being wed and having babies was tabo then and should be tabo now, no people dont have to accept it, and I won't buy the issue again either, It doesn't represent reality, and tell them it is hard to raise kids, work full time jobs and pay bills when you DONT HAVE AN EDUCATION

      • Posted By: sweetp6966 @ 07/17/2008 11:15:08 PM

omg you totally missed the point heres someting for all you parents to think about instead of putting down a magizine why dont you go to schools and talk to teenagers hell when i was in school pretty much the whole girl side of the school was pregnant and that was in 2005 way before jamie lynn even got prego half the people i know from school have kids with or without an eduction and with or with out the babys daddy BUT they all make sure there kids are takeing care of im sorry im not saying that postng her and her baby for the world to see is right but if your oging to bit** about it then go to school and start bitching becasue they let pregnacy go on in school now thats sending a bad message

    • Posted By: azazel81 @ 07/17/2008 11:19:09 AM

maybe times have changed. maybe when our mom's grandmas where 15 they had already been working for over 2 years, so they had jobs, they were more responsible than we are nowadays.

I'm sorry to tell you this, man, but.. maybe you should think a bit about what you say and study a little more.

you know... there's such a thing as evolution... which involves a lot of changes and stuff.

in the 19th century people would finish school when they were 10/14 and go to work, nowadays most people finish school at the age of 25 and then they start LOOKING for a job.

      get a clue, man!

      • Posted By: sweetp6966 @ 07/17/2008 11:10:41 PM

well it may have change but the fact is you dont see people puting brad and angi down for haveing pre martial sex i know i spelled some words worng dont care im not saying that her having a baby and her face posted all over the place is good dont get me wrong i was a teenage mom had my first one at 18 but she does have a job she has a home of her own she is still with the dad and you wanna talk aobut her sending a bad message ok then maybe we should all pull our kids outta school hell when i was in school there was like half the girls at school having babies like i said if she wasnt famouse you guys wouldnt have anything to complain aobut

This is just my opinion being an adult and all, but is our society and especially our youth, really ok with teen pregnancy? I think that the whole entire Spear's family is crazy. How can she be excited about being a mom when she hasn't even left the hospital at the time of the interview and photo shoot. She hasn't experienced waking up at 2 in the morning to a screaming child or having to stay awake all night with an infant that is sick. I think that it is time for Americans to stop thinking that these "Hollywood Type" are moral and should be role models. They only care about the all mighty buck and not about anything else. In my opinion, I think that she is a little whore that should be consider immoral for allowing herself to become pregnant in the first place. Shame on her and shame on her parents for allowing such behavior just because she is a teen star.

Ok so she's 17 and a mother. Whoop de doo!!! We're acting like this is the first time we're hearing about teenage pregnancy. Our kids are seeing (if not doing) the same or worse in there everyday lives. So we need to talk to our kids more. If you feel you need to once every week do that. Talk to them about what they see on TV and in everyday life. Explain to them what parenting is REALLY about. That its not all glamour and pretty clothes, and cute little shoes. That it's a lot of hard work.

Ok magazine has definitely glamorized a growing problem in our society, when truth is if she were not famous she would be looked down on in the eyes of everyone. This shouldn't be looked upon as a great choice because she didn't make one. Just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she should be looked at as being someone to idolize. America needs to acknowledge this growing problem before it is too late.

    • Posted By: Sandy4of6 @ 07/17/2008 10:55:57 PM

I agree that she didn't make a good choice in having sex outside of a committed marriage relationship. But she DID make an awesome choice in giving this child life when she could have easily had it "taken care of" and the world never would have known.

  • Posted By: smilesandkisses @ 07/17/2008 10:40:40 PM

Yes teen pregnancy might of been happening before but this definately glamorizes it! and do you ever wonder where all the money comes from for these stars well thats probably why prices on everything goes up! I was a teen when i got pregnant and i would never put down someone for getting pregnant as a teen its hard enough. Im happy that things are good for her but people dont need to advertise it so these teen girls look at it and get a picture in their mind that its all fun and games. Most teens cant take care of themselves let alone a baby and they dont realize that till its already to late. This country is getting so bad with drugs and pregnancy that no matter what parents do their kids will find a way to get around that.

    • Posted By: Kbogle07 @ 07/17/2008 10:54:13 PM

I agree wth you. But if I may add on one thing it would be that I disagree with the public blaming the super stars for the priced of things going through the roof. We as Americans are all to be held responsible for allowing the prices to go up. If we would all stand up and make a stance on things we feel important such as drugs and teen pregnacy we might make a difference in our teens eyes.

Ok so she's 17 and a mother. Whoop de doo!!!! Like this is the first time we've heard of teenage pregnancy. Instead of letting or kids watch so much darn TV, lets teach them a thing or two. They say teach your kids don't believe everything you see on TV. Well tell them, teach them just because you see Jamie Lynn or any other celebrity with a baby and making it seem like its so easy to be a parent IT"S NOT!!!! It makes a pretty picture but wait until your up in the middle of the night because the baby is hungry or the baby gets sick and your rushing to a doctor or emergency room. And so on. Believe me they'll get the picture!!!!

There is too much teen pregnancy, top box office and Blockbuster rental teen pregnancy movies, etc. We wonder why there are so many high school drop outs?!

  • Posted By: curlysgirl @ 07/17/2008 10:28:45 PM

I agree that they should just let them be. Before Jamie Lynn Spears even got pregnant my best friends daughter was only about 15 when she found out she was pregnant. She is 17 now with a buetiful baby girl... even though i wouldnt trade being that little girls god mom.... Teen pregnancy was happening even before jamie lynn got pregnant

the next chapter? Do you have plans for future Jamie Lynn coverage?
We have a great interest in the Spears family as an entire family, the Jamie Lynn addition and her daughter is something I think we find, as editors, really interesting. Our readers find it very, very interesting and the amount of debate is interesting. This is a story that is a very complex story to tell and I think because of that nature it makes it really interesting. I can't wait to see the decisions she makes, if she stays in Louisiana or goes back to Hollywood. She's very young and could have an amazing career ahead of her.

I feel that all you idiots who have nothing better to do than sit around and run down another person should wake up and look arund at the real issues of life such as. Price of gas, milk, ect. We are about to let this country go to sh.. and the only thing you can do is bash on a young lady who is doing her best.. So, sit back and reflect a little on your own Mistakes before you pre-judge somebody else. Signed By ONEPISSEDAMERICANFATHER

Sure she had a child and everything but why is everyone soo happy. The celebrity kids get to have kids and everyone will be happy about it but if the lessfortunate children have kids they will be looked down upon. Many of the will get kicked out of their houses because pregnancy is for ADULT WOMEN. Adult women can provide for themselves. Now tell me who is goign to help her to raise her child, certainly not her mother because last time i checked her older daughter lost custody of bother her children, then HER BABY HAD A BABY. This is nothing to be taken lightly. that is something very serious. She did not even finish school. Other girls woild have it hard because they would have to drop out of school to work. They would not be able to get a job paying more than minimum wage because theydid not finish high school. then they may not be able to do to night school or get a GED because they cannot pay for a sitter. then Jamie-Lynn comes and she has it soo easy. What the hell is that. I am 19 and in college, if i dont finish college i will be looked at as a falure because my family is always looking at me trying to watch what i do so i have to make sur ethat i do well. I have no time for a child. Sure Jamie-lynn is not me but i know that there were a lot of peopl who thought that she was going to be better than her sister. At least her sister had a career before she has children to loose. I am not trying to talk bad about her. I am just saying that children should be thinking of living their life and finishing school before thinking of having children for themselves. we dont need more Paris Hiltons driving the streets, one is enough Then there is the fact that there will be cameras following everywhere she goes. He child is not going to grow up well with that it has no one to really look up to. this is not what we need in the US or the rest of the world.

Its sad that the writers can find nothing better to write about other than questioning and riddiculing people. Who's to say who ever wrote this article is fit them selves as a parent? It's all somebodys opinion, absolutely appalling, look just a little harder for something to write about next time!

  • Posted By: blaina8 @ 07/17/2008 10:19:56 PM

It does glorify it and sends a bad message to other teens. Teens look up to her and if she does it and thinks it's great other will too. This is already a problem for not only teens but their parents as well without making it likes it's the best thing ever. Kids are not kids anymore. Our media and everything else pushes that. We are adults much longer in life that kids, so we better start letting our children be kids!!!!

HAHAHA...I Just have to laugh! Because Jamie Lynn Spears shouldnt be judged by ANYONE. Teen Pregnancy is HAPPENING. WOW just because she is a celebrity all of a sudden it is the topic to talk about. Lets go people! Where was all this worry and judgement before she was pregnant! GET OVER IT. All you can do is talk to your teens and hope they make the best decisions. If not they will spend their lifes taking care of another human being! Congrats Jamie Lynn and Casey. You have a beautiful Baby girl. Take care and God Bless.
