Well, guess what? Having a baby is glamorous for Jamie Lynn. She can afford nannies, lots of fancy baby paraphernalia, personal trainers, and dieticians, and it's been a huge boon to her career. Many of us who never paid her a bit of attention before are reading all about her now. Her teenage pregnancy is absolutely nothing like a typical teenage pregnancy, but it would be silly for us to expect the media to point any of this out to it's teenage readership.

i think that the way they are portraying it in the magazine is so fake. she may seem like all smiles and every thing is okay. but what you have to remember is money doesn't bring happiness. and she is only 17 yrs old she may be like oh its easy but when it really strikes her about being a mom she will wish she never had sex because she will never be able to have her child life back again. I'm 16 and of course like who wouldnt want kids all im sayying is that im too young and i have dreams and a life to obtain. she will soon feel the pressure of havving a baby

What an ignorant article by a slick salesman. It absolutely glamorizes teen pregnancy - and treats it like a minor speed bump in the road of life. Nevermind - that most teens never see the upside - and end up faced with a life alterning decision - end a life, give it away, or grow up overnight. This was simply about the money it would bring the magazine - nothing more.

"...she's already made a handsome living. I think we talk to her about going back to work...." What a salesjob by a slick advertiser. Treats teen pregnancy like having the flu - or like a minor speed bump in the path of life - something to "get over" ... no regard for the fact that it radically changes all of life - and that most teens will never see the upside.

COMPLETELY TACK...I was young when I had my first child and i wouldn't wish the struggle our family went through on anyone. We were fortunate to have family but young is young. I think this family needs to go away and figure out what really matters. Just because you have $ doesn't mean you get to make irresponsible decisions and get a way with it. There will be consiqences to all her decisions I just hope her child doesn't pay the way her nephews have. Completely appauled on the way the media and Nickelodeon has handled the situation.

I think we should get all of the teenage mothers together and do one giant spread on how wonderful teenage pregnancy is! Maybe O Magazine would be a taker?

Seriously, if this is not glorifying teen pregnancy, then I do not know what else is. I think it is an absolute travesty to use such a delicate situation to generate magazine sales. Where the hell have our morals gone? I am an unwed mother; had my son when I was 23. I do not go around shouting that from the roof tops though. I am proud of my son and am proud of how far I have come, but by no means was I prepared for all of the challenges that come with being a parent, and that was at being 23 and a college graduate! How in the world is a 17 year old supposed to raise a child? Yes she may be able to buy a house, and all of that latest designer baby fashions, but that does not mean that one is ready to become a mother. It certainly does not win her maturity points to have her face plastered all over a gossip magazine.

I became a mother at 17 and no one could have told me accurately how difficult it would be. Celebrity moms can be all smiles and pretty pictures; money isn't necessarily an obstacle for them to hurdle. What happens to the young mom who doesn't have money for diapers and their baby has diarrhea? What happens if there's no formula and no money to buy any? These are the types of realities most teen mothers face. Portraying a celebrity with a baby just glamorizes what isn't always a pretty picture.

I completely agree that she is doing the responsible thing, but I was a mom at 17 obviously out of wedlock, and trust me it was not easy. I wouldn't change it for the world, but I also don't think that OK should be, not necessarily glamorizing her pregnancy and new baby, but think about the detail a little more. She is a role model to young girls who want to be just like her. Not every teeanage girl has the lifestyle that Jamie has; the money, the help, and the support!! I know that first couple days as a new mom can be great, but how about the every 2-3 hour feedings, the sick infant that won't sleep if you stop moving, the hospital bills, the cost of just raising a baby. It is not all sunshine and flowers and I think that young girls need to know that. Your life is COMPLETELY different after you have a baby and I know from experience, you lose a lot and miss out on a lot when you are a teenage mother. People just need to think things ALL the way through, especially when dealing with a subject such as teen pregnancy!!

Considering most people making comments here have no clue what it takes to raise children and the fact that most 15 yr olds today are mentally -10 yr olds, I'd say this is the American way. Play with Barbie dolls then move up to the big leagues by babysitting, have a child while in high school then figure out if you can properly care for one later with no education and no employment. Let the government take care of you and ditch the father, Girls in our nation are lost hoping to have something that can love them unconditionally. We are a stupid nation going down the tubes. Most 15 yr olds can't even remember to brush their teath let alone to remember to wipe a child's behind. This is all pitiful. And DOES NOT encourage the responsible way to become a parent. This aint the 60s when a 15 yr old was responsible like a 30 yr old today. Get a clue kids! And keep your legs closed from every Tom, *ick and Harry!

Let me just say, The photo of her in OK! was horrendous. SHe has a newborn in a Boppy on the counter of a kitchen, (That could bouncy right off and kill the baby) She also is drinking coffee?!!! Breast-feeding moms CANNOT drink coffee. I digress!!

Mommyforevr88....it's about morals and if you don't believe in morals or don't have a strong faith rooted in Christian teachings then you can live as you like. Thos of us who believe in the teachings of the bible feel that marriage equals baby. This not o say that you marry soley for the baby. However, if you are going to be serious enough to have unprotected sex and get pregnant you need to make preparations for the consequences. Magazines should not uphold immoral behavior when there are some parents who still believe in teaching their children traditional family values or Christian values. There is enough crazy stuff going in our society to keep us busy trying to teach our children right from wrong.

Poor taste O.K magazine, and yes it does glorify teen pregnancy, I don't understand how you brilliant people at O.K didn't see that.

i think that she is trying to say that its not all that bad being a mom this young and she isnt trying to tell her fans that are her age and younger to get pregnet! at the time she liked this guy and decided that he would be the one bc she could trust him and stuff so thats what happened to jamie lynn spears, maddie!

  • Posted By: Spree1971 @ 07/17/2008 4:02:07 PM

    why bring up race????

I THINK THAT SOCIETY ALWAYS LOOKS FOR NEGATIVE THINGS IN SOMETHING POSITIVE. I KNOW SHE IS A TEEN MOM, BUT AT LEAST SHE IS TAKING RESPONSIBLITY FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE AND IS NOT GOING THE EASY ROUTE BY HAVING AN ABORTION OR ADOPTION OR MOST BIZARRE KILLING HER NEW BORN INFANT LIKE YOUNG TEEN MOMS IN THE PAST. I AM PROUND OF HER FOR TAKING RESPONSIBLITY FOR HER ACTIONS.
