No teen sees a magazine of a 17yr. old girl and says OOh I want to be a mom right now too....I think the problem is not teen pregnancy but teen sex....I think we need to be educated better about the conseuences or the reality and statistics of successful marriages and family staying tohether. If we had had a speaker come in and tell us their personal experience or if we had our teacher say ok only so and so percent of you wil stay married or even get married than maybe I would have waited to have sex....But when your in highs chool you hav this idea that you and your boyfriend will be together forever....thats what needs to change....you say i dont want to get pregnant now but i want to have sex and if somewhere down the orad i get pregnant it's ok because I love my boyfirend and he loves me and we will be married one day....but I can tell you from personal experience being 17 the day before giving birth to my daughter....that it's not appealing to us...we don't hope for it....it just happens....parents and teachers need to just educate us better
No. I think you're wrong there.
Pregnancy among celebrities is such a big topic right now.
It's being glamorized. With topics about how to stay thin and sexy while pregnant.
Get your pre-pregnancy body back in just 6 weeks!
There is so little reality in that.
And unless you have a personal trainer, a team of nannies and a maid or two, being a mom is seriously hard career. And shouldn't be about looking hot!
Then there's the whole concept of 'saving your figure' by have C-Sections.
WTF?
Whats wrong with society that women have to conform into the corseted idealisms created by the media.
Teens should not be having babies because they are STILL CHILDREN, period!
thank the heavens! someone has felt teh same way...i had my daughter when i was 20.. and she is my whole world..but i do feel the remorse as i watch my friends go out and do have fun...yes its good that she went out and still have the baby...but nots the point here..having a baby can make you a mom but it dosent always mean that it makes you a woman..i still consider some of my teenage friends who have had babies to still be children them selves. its about growing up. and im afrain jamie lynn will never have to know the hard ships that young mothers do.. its a struggle finacially and mentallly. you have to grow up...i have to pay the sitter, i have to buy diapers, forumula and she will never have to ever worry about where that kind of money is going to come from..maybe i just think she needs a big reality check.. not all of us have millions of bucks!
I just love how in this article, the editor keeps saying that Jamie Lynn has made some really smart choices. Yeah, real smart. The coverage by OK magazine of Jamie Lynn's pregnancy SO glamorizes teen pregnancy...but then, it's no surprise really. Unwed pregnancy has been glamorized for years...it's a small step from there to glamorizing teen pregnancy, too.
i think that jaime lynn is an exceptioanl woman. yes, she was only 16 when she became pregnant. howvever she made a grown-up decision to have this beautiful little girl. i don't think jaime set out to be the poster child for teen pregnancies. if that is what people want to view her as than be it, but lets not forget that we are our childrens role models(don't be so quick to point the finger). with that said she is absoultely correct when she said that,(been a mom is best feeling in the world). she might be young, but there is bond between a child &
his mother whether you 17 or 100! regardless the situation i think she will make a great mom!!!
Hey, let me tell you that it was not a big decision she made, she had no other option, because what do think would have happen if she had killed her baby???? She is just an idiot trying to show her BIG bad choice of getting pregnant great.
YES, this advertises, promotes, and says everything is fine about teen pregnancy!!! No, no one wanted her to give the baby up or have an abortion, but come on, her sister is glamorized trash and that is the same road she is headed in. My daughter is in the 1st grade and now she wants to know what happened to the show (Zoey 101) and what pregnancy is. Safe sex is everywhere, and for someone who is supposed to be a role model for young girls everywhere, she should have prevented this; I wonder what kind of talks the Spears' parents had with the young daughter after seing what was happening to their older one!!
what a joke! Whole Spears group is screw up in the head! Jamie is a dumb as her sister but at least her sister had her rug rat in wedlock! It really sicken me see all this young girl gettting preg. at a young age. she is going to have to live with this the rest of her life. Disney should have fire her when she let world know she is going to have a baby out of wedlock. Hmmmmm maybe wear a rubber or get on the pills would work better....... Oh well Another dumb blonde with a kid when she is a kid herslf. lets see how many people i am gong to piss off?!?!?!?
I think Jamie Lynn and her mother aren't looking at the "big picture" when it comes to the influence Jamie Lynn has on the your population. I have not read the article, but I'm sure no where in it she says how difficult the change was for her, and the expected future challenges she is anticipating.
Lynn Spears should understand that anything her younger daughter does will have similar influence as what her older daughter did a few years ago.
Too many high profile people are having children out of wedlock and showing the world how great it is, without showing the behind the scenes effort it takes. The general population doesn't see that most every celebrity mom has at least one nanny to help them. This is much different than 90% of the population that idolizes these stars.
SO WHAT IF SHE HAS A NANNY.... I AM 37 & I WISH I HAD A NANNY. WE MOMS COULD ALL USE A NANNY SOMETIME!
I agree with having a nanny, but do you what your kids to see this (getting pregnant when you can't even vote) as a great- non problems thing? Yeah right!!! Being a parent is not an easy thing. By the way, I am 16 and I am not ready to have a baby.
I think everyone needs to realize the girl is in a stable relationship, and had purchased a home to raise the baby in her home town. I don't see where it's glamorizing much of anything except the fact that not all women have to turn into nasty looking overweight slobs when they have a baby. The assuption of "trash", "ruined life", "she's only happy because she's rich" ect. are all the epitomy of ignorant statements. I myself got pregnant BY CHOICE at 17, then moved 2200 miles and my husband and I got married. We'd been together close to 3 years prior, and did our traveling, and our "fun" stuff. We'd been researching realestate for years, and bought our house on an acre of land 2 miles off the lake!!! Purchased at 99,900....(not rich), we are able to pay our bills with a 500-1000/mo left over income. I get to stay at home and raise our kids...not push them off on sitters or nannies. I am now 21 with 2 kids and 16 weeks 6 days with our third and last baby. The kids are all happy, healthy, well taken care of, intelligent kids. So I'm wondering how many of you people talking crap, CAN'T PAY YOUR BILLS, AND ARE NASTY RODE OUT BITTER PEOPLE!? Because considering I have been with my husband for 7 years next March, and married 4 years next month, done great, am still doing great, bought my home at 19.....who'd like to step up and TRY to compare!? Some of you need a reality check, and to wake up and realize the ignorance flowing out of your mouth! It's profoundly pathetic, to make assinine assumptions about these young girls without knowing anything at all about someones situation. You have just as many trashy worthless older parents reeming the system, and all of what is said about a young mom. Thats a fact, a well reasearched one. Educate before you make idiots of yourselves in the future. SOME young moms are terrible, common sense. Just as SOME of them are exceptional, and doing just as good or better than the older counterparts that are so quick to cut them down. Good Day.
God says: "you are my hero. I praise you for your parenting passion. I intended for you to get much more help from family and community (not the state) I intended you to get much more help from your church too.
WOW!!!!! I couldn't have said this better myself--There are mothers out there who aren't spent, bitter hags...I am one of them!! I look, feel and ACT better now that I've had kids. Just because most of the people on this board have f*cked up their own lives in various ways, shapes and forms they assume that everyone has, or will. NOT TRUE! I LOVE MY LIFE, and wouldn't change a thing. My husband and I have WORKED for what we have, and it shows!
damn wear a freaking rubber or go on the pill. people are getting dumber and dumber that is so sad. who really care a dumb blonde had kid out wedlock.........! i know i am going to piss off somepeople!
So she has a child that will without a doubt grow up knowing from the start that it was a complete unwanted accident. An accident that most likely occurred during the worst possible time. Sounds like the perfect life! What a joke, she should have had an abortion and tied her tubes because the last thing we need in this world is more naive, spoiled, ungrateful children.

I really feel sorry for teenage girl that are pregnant, I have a daugther that is 2 and I wouldnt want to see her pregnant as a teen. I want to bring her up with very good values, but the way the world is today that is going to be very hard. I dont think it is cool to be a pregnant teen. What about the girls life, she should be in school thinking of her education. I was adopted when i was 8, it is hard to be on your own and so much you have to pay out. This magazine should show the hardships that girls go thru, and most of the teenage boys dont stick around and help with there baby also, they dont go to the apts, and they just dont care most of them dont. What about all the costs for diapers and wipes and clothes and food, and formula it costs alot. Thank goodness for WIC and Food stamps that the governement gives to people that should get it. And also the teenagers have backwards, you should get married first and then a few years later then think about having a baby when they are more mature, and have a good nest egg to support the child and to give it a good life, the way it should be. What about values and beleving in what is right and wrong. If the girls need attention they should go to there parents for that or there friends. having kids are great when it is the right time and it isnt when you are still growing up yourself as a teen, you dont have time for yourself anymore, you have to be a mother and focus on your studies and your baby, and that is hard work and can be very stressful. I am 37 and I should know how it is. I waited to get married first and then had my child. It is so much easier that way, it also sets a very good example for your kids as well.

Ok - FOR THOSE LADIES OUT THERE THAT HAD SEX IN HIGH SCHOOL - did you not honestly sweat about getting pregnant every time you had sex? I used protection every single time & still was convinced I would wind up pregnant. It is an interesting article to read....obviously b/c everyone on this page has replied to the article & each other's comments.....Whether or not you think it is right or wrong, it is what has happened to this young Spears girl. Some people are very quick to point fingers. Have you never made mistakes in your life? The magazine is out to make money. It worked on you (and me too :-)
I do think it slightly glamorizes teenage pregnancy, but not enough to freak out about it. I think it will help more teenagers than it will hurt. I am actually glad they went on with the story, because it shows that you DO have choices if you get into an accidental pregnancy. I hope that it all goes well for her, and that she shows women that no matter how old you are, it is possible to be successful as a young mom, and you dont need to kill your baby the second you find out it's growing inside you, just because not everyone thinks its a great idea. I think she made the best out of what happened, and THAT's really what we need to show people. I like to think that the majority of teenagers have higher hopes for themselves and their careers than to go get pregnant, just because it worked out for a celebrity.
lets have a reality check here..this girl has such different circumstances than any other teenage mom..i mean come on the girl has a fortune. i am a teenage mother myself and have realized the ups and downs of having a child. sure she is going to be able to take care of her baby, she just got paid a million bucks for freaking photos..this is just plain old ignoarnce !! im a modern day young mom struggling to pay for sitters, diapers, formula and to give her the right of having a nice house and nice things.. and this jamie lynn blows it in my face! its disgusting.. im sorry but some of us actually have to work for what we want. and i do think this magazine is glamorizing teenage pregnancy to the extent of where girls are wanting babies at a young age to prove how great of mothers they will be. i agree with what people have said...i do pay for these young girls decsions. with some many FREE clinincs out there to prevent pregnacy its a shame none of them cant find one to use!. ive had to alot of growing up and JAMIE LYNN IS NOT A WOMAN....making yourself a mom does not MAKE YOURSELF AN ADULT!!!
i dont think that having jamie lynn on the cover of any magazine or any other teen age star that has become pregnant is going to promote teen pregnancy more than what is already out there. no, i do not feel it is right for teenage girls that have yet to finish high school to be getting pregnant, but it happens. everyday, i went to a high school where two of my friends ended up pregnant, they both kept the babies, and finished high school. so, if you know you want to have a goal and meet it, then keep your head high and get all the support you can! there is always going to be someone to back you!

These poor girls are so excited to be pregnant. They have baby showers and random strangers asking them about their due date. Sporting a baby bump these days is like having a purse designed by Dior or DG. Most girls love this type of attention. They don't realize the attention will die down after baby comes. Then it's just you and the crying baby alone on Saturday night checking out your friends party pictures on myspace. I had my daughter at 20. I wouldn't change anything now, I love my daughter. But it was hard watching all my friends go to college and go to bars once they turned 21. Jamie has nothing to worry about. Her baby probably already has a college fund and she has a house to raise a family of 15. Girls will read this magazine and mentally photo shop their face on Jamie Lynns body. She looks so happy and I sure she is. I would be too if I was 17 and making money by having babies. Hopefully Jamie Lynn can be more honest in the month ahead about how hard it is and stressful being in charge of a babies life. But I am sure the next cover will be her and Maddie sporting matching outfits and traveling to exotic locations. Not pictured... Body guard and army of Nannies
Oh Please! She is Britney's sister and has money in her own right. If she was an real teen who had a baby they'd never them on the cover. If anyone has any cents they will see the difference. If a teen glamorize it they aren't thinking but then again when does a teen think about anything. AND I AM SURE JAMIE LYNN WISH'S SHE HAD WAITED! Cause even with her money she now has lost work and has to be a mom for the rest of her life.
